Just on the edge of Rainfront Town, along a faded trail that was still moist from a brief afternoon storm, a Skitty and a Metang found themselves traveling towards Pricklemist Hill.  It was a peaceful evening; the air was quiet save for wind rustling through the grass and scattered trees, and for the occasional chirps of bird Pokemon flying overhead.  The weather had grown slightly cooler as the sun began to set but it was still a perfect setting for a stroll.

Even so, Darcy felt a little anxious.  Her fluffy tail restlessly swished back and forth as she sidestepped a mud puddle and stared at the hill up ahead.  It was...  Just how she remembered it, dense with mist and pine trees.  A breeze rushed past, and while the blue scarf around her neck kept her warm, the Skitty shivered anyway.  She edged closer to the Metang.

"So, um...  They should be somewhere around here, right?" she asked as she turned her head to scan the surroundings.  She was curious about what their client would be like...  That was why she had wanted to take this mission, in fact.  It had been on her mind all throughout the four-day journey here.  Helping this person strike off on their own, and becoming friends, and having another Pokemon to spend time with at the guild...  Well, as long as Adamantine was by her side, those dreams made returning to this hill seem worth it...

...She wished that their client hadn't asked to meet here at night, though.  The rapidly dimming twilight wasn't much to see by, and she could spot nothing but shadows as she peered into the trees.  With how her previous visit here had ended up...  She half-expected to be greeted by some kind of ghost Pokemon out for her soul instead of the person they were looking for.  The thought of actually crossing the hill in this rapidly worsening darkness...  Well, she tried not to think about it.  It was too late to turn back now.

A sharp cry echoed through the trees, and Darcy instantly squeezed her eyes shut and sank her claws into the earth.  It took every ounce of courage in her body just to continue standing in front of Yooka.  She knew all too well that the voice belonged to a Kricketune...  A screech like this was exactly how things had started last time.  Her entire body screamed for her to run away.  She was close to the exit.  It wouldn't be hard...

But...  Her client.  Yooka was counting on her.  She just couldn't abandon the Pokémon that needed their help, especially...  Especially to a creature like that.  Clinging to that thought with all of her willpower, she forced her eyes open, ready for a fight...

But just as she did, something wrapped around her body and yanked her backwards.  She careened through the air for a brief moment and grunted as she crashed into the ground next to Adamantine.  The Metang said something that she didn't catch, and as she tried to regain her bearings, she just barely managed to duck out of the way as it zoomed overhead and slammed a hammer-like arm into...  A small ash tree at the edge of the road?  Adam's punch completely pulverized a section of its trunk, and with an earthy-sounding crack, the tree leaned backward and toppled over into the undergrowth...  

Darcy looked on with confusion, but before she could ask Adam what had happened she was distracted by a shadow moving in the corner of her eye.  There, hidden in the bushes not far from Yooka, she spotted the silhouette of a Kricketune quivering its wings as if ready to dart forward and avenge those two Pokémon on the ground...

And sure enough, darting at Yooka was exactly what it did.  "Y-Yooka!" she shouted.  ...She couldn't believe what she was doing, but Darcy found herself charging forward to intercept it.  She squeezed her eyes shut as she got close and rammed into its chitinous body with a tackle just before it could swing at the Kecleon with Fury Cutter, leaving the Bug type knocked off-balance while Darcy clumsily fell to the ground.  She tried to regain her footing, but before she could she locked eyes with the Kricketune looming over her.  "I-I..." Darcy stuttered as she sunk her claws into the earth again, suddenly frozen in place.  She had no clue why it was attacking them, so she doubted she could talk her way out of this, and it scarcely seemed fazed by her tackle at all...  Maybe this had been a bad idea.

Meanwhile, in a nest within the branches of the newly-fallen tree, a very confused and unhappy bird Pokémon was treated to a rude awakening.  With a flutter of wings it took to the air and cast about for whoever had smashed its tree, and immediately locked its gaze on Adamantine, too angry to notice the scuffle going on off to its left.

"Hey!  You jerk!" the Fletchling shouted as she fluttered in the air right between Adam and the others.  "I just finished this nest yesterday!  The heck is your problem?"

((OOC:  I suppose we could do a time skip, if our characters really do spend the night back in Rainfront Town.  Or we could make a second thread in town and actually play it out if you two would prefer.  But if we do either of those, we might have to deal with Yooka's dad looking for her, right?  If she explains her situation in further detail, maybe the others would decide to push on even though it's dark...))

Yooka was surprised to hear Darcy's voice coming from behind her. What, but... Yooka didnt regard the fact that Darcy was saying a warning, but Yooka did notice the rather large entity as she turned around. She was prepared to dodge but the large shadow was sent off-balance by a smaller entity Skitty... Darcy? She looked in the general direction of the larger entity. It was already back on its feet as if Darcy's attack was just an unexpected nudge. The shadow turned towards darcy. mmm, I need to grab it's attention. but what? She remembered the orb. she looked down at it in her left hand. She knew it was an orb but she doesnt know what it does just yet. Come on luck. You've been awesome with me all my life, don't mess with me now.

She swapped the items so the orb was in her right hand. she yelled out "Hey! Surprise!" to the shadow as she threw it. It smacked the head of the shadow. She smiled but near instantly frowned as she noticed the orb suddenly floating and surrounding her, darcy, and the kricketune in some sort of near invisible bubble. Yooka ran towards darcy in an attempt to get her out. but then the orb went bright for a second, blinding yooka. she shielded her eyes a second to late. The sensation of weightlessness lasted just aslong as the flash and just as quick she regained sight. It was still dark out but it was much lighter then in the dungeon. She wasn't that far out of Pricklemist hills dungeon, infact she was next to the tree she was on where she hid before meeting the Skitty and Metang.

"Was that an Excape orb?" no, They're suppose to send you back home, right...? "or was that a warp orb." uh, arn't those suppose to be random, well I guess the chance of it sending one of us to the entrance could also happen-- "oh right... Darcy and the attacker?" she looked around noticing the town of rainfront in the horizon pretty far off, but the kricketune and Darcy were no where to be found, where yooka stood anyway. I don't see the two that warped with me... If that orb was indeed random, then Darcy and the thing were warped to a random location around pricklemist hill, well, if my luck really is Legendary and Divine, Darcy could probably be somewhere nereby, if not... then she's somewhere else. She sighed. Now that she knows she's probably alone again and messed up the request she made to the Guild members, Well, at least the thing isn't nearby. I should probably head home before my father worries too much. argh... or maybe not. She sat down next to the tree, and decided to take her chances. This tree's base is pretty well hidden, hence why she hid there earlier. She closed her eyes and leaned against the tree.

Darcy's whole body flooded with relief as Yooka threw something at the Kricketune and drew its attention.  ...That was, until she realized exactly what the Kecleon had thrown.  It was an orb, and it seemed to be activating itself.  She wracked her brain for what kind it was, and what its effects would be...  But before she could identify it, it shone a blinding light, and her body suddenly lurched as if she was falling...

...She felt grass underfoot as she regained her senses.  Gingerly, she stood up and opened her eyes, only to find herself...  Outside of the hill, some distance from its entrance.  ...But she was alone.  Her blood ran cold as realization set in.  "No, no, no..."  she muttered to herself while breathing heavily and trying not to panic.  That had been a warp orb.  Adam could handle itself, but Yooka was probably deep in the forest now, completely alone, with that... thing roaming free, along with who knew what else...

She...  She...  She had to go back in.  There was just no other option.  The thought terrified her, and her body screamed at her to run back to town, and that there was nothing she could do, but...  But her heart just wouldn't allow it.  What if she had been abandoned by her teammate during her first trip here?  The thought made her want to break down and cry.  She hated the prospect of going back in there alone, but thinking about leaving someone else to the same fate just tortured the Skitty even more.  And so with tears creeping into her eyes, and her body shivering far more with terror than with cold, she forced her paws to move, carrying her back towards the gaping maw of the hill's entrance one step at a time...

As she crept over a tree root, she nearly yelped with shock as she spotted a figure in the darkness only a meter or so away, leaning against the trunk.  She was frozen in place with apprehension, unsure of whether she should run or hide...  Until she looked more closely and realized just who this shape was.

"Oh, Yooka!!" she shouted as her body flooded with relief from head to toe.  Blinking tears out of her eyes, she bounded forward and leaped at Yooka with a hug that ended up more like a tackle.  "You're safe!  Thank goodness, you're safe..." she said while smiling and nuzzling her head against Yooka's neck.

She pulled away and rubbed her eyes, trying to force herself to calm down a little.  "I'm sorry, Yooka.  I should have told you not to use that orb.  Are you okay?  You're not hurt, are you?"

Almost feeling like it's useless to go back in and about ready to head back to her father, Yooka wasnt expecting a voice to suddenly speak her name. What!? She tensed up as she looked around again. I swear I saw no one! what the- She saw what appeared to be the skitty from before it was saying things about being safe, however, just when she thought the skitty was done it was already tackling her to the ground. Her adrenaline spiked from being caught off-guard. It seemed to apologize directly after.

"You are so lucky that I didn't-- she closed her eyes as she sat up and forcing herself to calm down. Suddenly she remember she said if her luck was still good. She started to laugh, an actual laugh. "Hahahah, no way... That luck... it's too good..." However she sighed heavily and looked back at the hill. back to being slightly annoyed. "no, I should be the one apologizing. I had no idea what orb that was, I thought it would just hit it and cause its attention to turn. which, it did. However, I honestly didnt think it would activate. Also, your friend is still in there with whatever the thing is. considering the attackers shape and the way it moved I'd assume its a bug-type, but your friend seemed to be of a very high intelligence. which to me, for now, I believe he's psychic-type. but his sight isn't... nevermind im sure he's fine. the attacker warped aswell, im sure its not close to him." Yooka then looked at the skitty, "Oh! Didn't you mention a person in rainfront town. Perhaps we should wait a day there, before we head off..."

"That's okay.  You didn't know," Darcy said, flashing a smile though she was still breathing rather heavily.  But when she was reminded of Adamantine, she drooped a little with worry once again.  "...I told Adamantine to meet me back at the guild if anything really bad happened.  I know that Adam's really tough, so I think it'll be alright..."

She turned to face the hill's entrance once again and an involuntary shiver ran through her body. She counted herself lucky that Adamantine was so strong, but... Still...  "Um...  We can spend the night at my sister's house, yeah. But do you think we should try to find Adam first?  I-I'm worried, but I don't want to just get us in trouble, too..."

Hearing what the skitty said about the metang made her question if the skitty was a new member and the automaton was just to show her the ropes. That made Yooka laugh to herself, however, she didn't actually laugh. Instead, she muffled the laughter to say, "If you said to meet back at the guild if anything bad happens then we should prepare for the journey back. I probably should've mentioned I studied up on how to protect myself, but I just don't want to cause harm to anyone on purpose. Those zigzagoons took me by surprise, not really though, just I didn't think they were in this forest. I need to prepair for things like that. so I think we should head to your... uh... wait sister? I thought you said... um... nevermind." Yooka stood up and took a couple steps backwards towards the town. She didn't exactly want to head back in unprepared with someone who didn't think they can handle themself.

"...Okay. If you think so," Darcy said, inwardly relieved that they wouldn't be venturing back into the hill... It seemed more likely that she and Yooka would find themselves in trouble than that Adam would need their help. She couldn't help but worry, but... If their client thought everything would be fine... Surely Adam would make it out okay, right?

And so she trotted alongside Yooka, leading the way back to town. "She doesn't live too far from here. And she's probably still awake... Delcatty like being up at night. I'm kind of excited to see her again..." she said as they began leaving the hill behind them.

Following slightly behind the skitty as it lead the way back. Yooka remembered she had to get some things at her place. "Hey, uh... Darcy? Mind telling me what part of Town your sister lives in... I need to go get things from my place, and tell my..." I cant say this... she'd probably want to meet him. He'd be to mean to her... "uh, I'll meet you over there. Go tell your sister you have a surprise guest or something... Um, incase she's one of those clean types, if you know what I mean. ngh..." that was stupid. "I'll meet you over there, just tell me where in town." Getting a little flustered with herself she stopped talking. Hopefully he isn't awake. I don't think I can handle another one of his Rounds...

Darcy listened while wearing a tiny frown.  Tell who..?  Her family?  The Skitty was about to ask, but Yooka kept talking and seemed to be getting a little flustered, so she made herself resist the urge.  This was her client, after all.  She shouldn't pry, as much as she wanted to...  And she was still a little too shaken up to worry about it much anyway.

"Um..." she said while trying to remember where her sister's home was...  She hadn't been living in Rainfront Town for very long, so Darcy had only visited once before.  "...I think you go along this path we're walking on, but take the second right turn you can.  The weather's nice, so we'll wait for you outside.  Is that okay..?" she asked, glancing up at the Kecleon as they walked.

((ooc: über tiny post. mostly due to lost ideas... I'm cutting it here for Yooka, so this thread is complete for her. Shall we start the next? I kindof have to wait for the house theme, so I'll skip it for now. ))

Glancing towards the direction the skitty gave, she nodded and said, "alright, but it may take about an hour... perhaps a couple of them..." depending on his mood... ngh. "It may take awhile to get my things together. You don't have to wait outside, but just keep an eye open for me." Yooka looked towards the opposite side of the town. She sighed and then waved towards the skitty as they parted ways, for now. Here we go. It's not like he's going to notice if I'm quite about it. I mean I've done it for a long while now.

"O-okay. We'll see you soon, then.  Take care," Darcy said, waving in return as Yooka went her own way.  She spent a few moments watching the Kecleon depart before she returned her attention to the path and decided to get going herself.  She hoped that she'd be able to find her sister's house without any trouble.  Yooka wasn't with her anymore, and she didn't like the idea of being out here all alone at night...  The sooner she could be with her sister, the better.  With a slight shiver, the Skitty headed deeper into town, her fur prickling a little from anxiety and excitement as she walked...
