HG/SS Nuzlocke Race!

First topic message reminder :

Howdy there and welcome to the Nuzlocke race! >:3

Since a bunch of us are all doing this I figured I'd create a handy dandy thread for us to keep each other updated on our progress.
To make sure I know who's participating, post here with the starter you chose and which version you're playing! Anyone can join, not just the ones who have joined already and you can even join late in the game of you want to!

Rules
All normal Nuzlocke rules apply, I.e:
-You can only catch the first Pokemon you encounter in a given area.
-Any Pokemon that faint are considered 'dead' and must be permaboxed or released.
-All caught Pokemon must be nicknamed.

Our extra rules for these runs include:
-Duplicates clause - which allows you to pass by a first encounter and try again if you've already caught that species before.
-Shiny clause - allows the player to catch any shinies they may encounter during their Nuzlocke.

If you would like to add further rules to your run to make it more difficult make sure you note those rules in the same post as when you post stating your participation.

So who has joined so far you might ask?? Well he's a handy dandy list of everyone that has confirmed their participation in this thread!! I'll also update it with the number of gym badges they have currently ^-^

Anyone on this list is expected to let us know when they beat any gyms and stuff like that. Basically update the rest of us on your progress, though you don't have to post here every time you catch a pokemon or anything. If you'd like to post any Nuzlocke notes you might make during your run here, that too is fine and will prevent loads of people spamming the free chat with their notes separately!

Disclaimer: The thread says race but you don't have to speed through if you don't want to. Feel free to take all the time you want :3 Aka we're not really racing it's just a catchy thread name.

Edit 8th June:
Since a lot of us are getting the eevee that Bill gifts you in Goldenrod I thought it might be fun to try and get an entire set of eeveelutions between us! (Not counting Sylveon of course!) So this is to keep track of who has which for that purpose ^-^ Of course I won't force you to have an eeveelution you don't want to use though~

I was waiting for someone else to update so I wouldn't double post or have to keep editing but nevermind.

Anyways I have successfully conquered the elite 4 of Johto! I'm currently loafing around Kanto figuring out what I should do next tbh because I want a couple more levels before I take on Lt. Surge. I might edit this with my vs elite 4 notes later I haven't made up my mind yet.

Congrats, Sol! You're halfway to the end now, right?

As for me, I beat Morty and made it to Cianwood without any trouble, but I challenged Chuck earlier than I should have and ended up losing my Butterfree and my starter. They will be missed. But at least I finally have the Fly HM now. u_u

@Eventine Yee! Halfway there! Also condolences for your starter and Butterfree. Especially losing your starter has gotta be the worst D: Kudos for powering through and continuing though <3

Meanwhile, i'm not gonna post my E4 fight notes (Only Karen and Lance weren't a bunch of OHKOs anyways) but I will post my complete team stats that I noted down just before fighting the E4 and bonus descriptions of the personalities i've come to see them as having ^-^

Sorcha the Glaceon
Aka the true team leader, despite Ellychnia being the earliest team member. She's Serious at the appropriate times and is powerful enough to keep the more mischievous members of the team in check when she needs to. However, she is very curious, and is the first to investigate and get excited over something new. Her and Elly are besties but she constantly has to stop Elly from making rather implusive decisions.
Item: NeverMeltIce
Moves: Ice Beam, Bite, Quick Attack, Icy Wind

Ellychnia the Typhlosion
My starter and likes to think of herself as the mother of the group. She's a big fluff ball when it comes to Jay and her team, but hoo boy do not cross her she will get furious if you harm one of them. Ellychnia is a Rash pokemon, often acting before thinking, and sometimes has to rely on Sorcha or Jay to keep her in check. She is also very proud of her power and her ability to protect those she considers family
Item: Charcoal (plus IC Askeral's Quick Claw)
Moves: Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Flame Wheel, Swift

Tawnie the Dragonite
A very happy go lucky (i.e Jolly) individual, Tawnie is very much still a child despite what her appearance might tell you. She's very playful and has an almost sibling-esque relationship with Fen. The two can often be seen playing games during the team's downtime. She does however also view Elly and Sorcha as almost parent figures, as those two do their very best to look after her after the loss of Askeral.

Moves: ExtremeSpeed, Wing Attack, Aqua Tail, Dragon Rush

Sion the Pidgeot
Sion is a very speedy individual who is a little quick to judge others upon first meeting them and is a little stubborn with his ways. He always seems to be on the move (Hasty nature), but his quick judgements caused him trouble when Tarragon first joined the team as he found the Bellsprout to be an unworthy candidate. However, with Sion's love of fighting, the duo son sorted their differences and eventually developed a form of friendly rivalry, using each other as sparring partners during their training sessions with Jay. Sion has an almost begrudging respect for Tarragon as despite his weakness to the flying type, he doesn't half put up a good fight.

Moves: Roost, Fly, Wing Attack, Quick Attack

Fen the Quagsire
Fen is a mischievous individual who initially got along very well with Askeral as they joined Jay's team at a similar time. He was of course devastated when the Ampharos was killed during the gym battle against Clair and arguably took it the hardest. It was not until Tawnie joined the team with her jolly personality that he went back to his more Impish ways. He likes to relax in ponds and lakes whenever the team finds one by just floating lazily in the water.
Item: Wide Lens
Moves: Surf, Slam, Mud Bomb, Earthquake

Tarragon the Victreebel
A very quick tempered individual, it took Tarragon a little while to warm up to the other members of Jay's team after he was captured, although he soon came to trust them and respect them like family. Although he very clearly has a type disadvantage to Sion, one of his favourite past times is 'play fighting' with Sion and they have an almost friendly rivalry. Tarragon is one of the more mature members of the team, however he is also known to be very stubborn on things he believes to be true, as a result of his Adamant nature.
Item: Miracle Seed
Moves: Leaf Blade, Slam, Sleep Powder, Leaf Storm

As you can probably tell there are certain team members who I like to pair together as a switch between during fights etc. Almost like tag teams, and so their personalities with those are more developed than the team members who I don't tend to pair together~

I beat Jasmine, cleared the Rocket hideout, beat Pryce, and freed the radio tower without any trouble. That makes seven badges.

But more important than all of that, I just caught an Aipom on route 44 and he died to a crit in one of the first battles I used him in. I'm so crushed right now. ;_;

Congrats on your wins and sorry about your Aipom D: I wanted an Aipom and headbutted trees for one on Route 33 but I killed ti before i could even catch it

In other news I beat Lt Surge and if anyone else gets that far he spams Double Team so much so use your fastest ^-^
Edit: I also beat Erika! Woo! I was like why not since I have Sorcha and Ellychnia who are both super effective against grass types. I'm more cautious with Sabrina and am currently training my team a bit for her because I don't have a dark, bug or ghost type.

Edit 2.0: Went around Kanto and ended up beating Sabrina, Brock, Janine and Misty!
Still going with the same team currently and they're roughly level 60 at this point ^-^

I caught a second Aipom from Azalea Town because I couldn't get over losing my first one, beat the eighth gym, dealt with the kimono girls, and made it through Victory Road. All that's left in Johto now is the Elite Four, so... Wish me luck with that.

Here's my current team, though I plan on grinding some more before I go any further.

Overdue update! I beat Grant or whatever the second gym leader's name is. However I lost Shihara in the Vivillon in the battle to a fucking overpowered rock tomb. Here is what I think my team was at the time.

I myself have also beaten Blaine now, and I've gotta level up my team a bit before I fight Blue in Viridian City so i've taken a small break to see if anyone else can power through and get to Kanto before I end up beating the Kanto league too |D

I challenged the Elite Four a few days ago, and I won without any trouble! It's a relief to have that out of the way. I've been exploring Kanto for a while now, though I haven't challenged any of the gyms yet.

By the way, are we allowed to participate in the bug catching competition? I'm sure we can't keep whatever we catch, but I want to win a shiny stone for my Togetic now that I have the national dex.

You can definitely participate as it is one of the only ways to get the stones needed but i'd recommend releasing your winning pokemon so you don't confuse them as an actual catch later on ^-^
