Still clinging to life the day retained it's light, the sun having not yet begun to set, though it was early evening. The taste and smell of salt lingered in the air, a permanent accompaniment to the gentle sound of the ocean's waves. The occasional presence of gull or two and their accompanying wing flaps would only serve to complete the picturesque view.

Shiori sat with her legs dangling over the rail-edge of the fishing boat, her bright green eyes hidden behind her eyelids. The tawny haired captain found herself breathing in deeply as she took in the atmosphere of the ocean around her with her other senses. The scents of the ocean were those she had come to associate with a sense of freedom, and with their constant presence since they had left Carat Isle two days ago, Shiori felt content.

A sharp tug on the rod she clutched in her hands brought Shiori back to reality, her eyes flying open as a broad grin spread across her face and she hopped to her feet. Despite the dangers, Shiori managed to balance quite skillfully on the rails, as if she'd done it a thousand times before.

"Oi Caim! I think I finally caught something!" she grinned, "I bet it's gonna be massive and it'll kick the asses of all the fish you've managed to catch!" she laughed, tugging back on her line and hopping off of the rails and onto the deck so that she had a larger surface area to brace her feet against.

The afternoon-to-evening fishing competition had been Shiori's idea, since the fishing boat they'd 'recycled' had happened to have a few spare rods on board. However the odds were not in her favour so far, as she'd managed to fish up exactly nothing. It wasn't much of a surprise that she was beginning to get bored of reeling in an empty hook, but each new tug on her line seemed to bring new hope that she might finally catch something.

"It's not a joke," she replied between Hayes's words, her tone steely. Why on earth would she say it if it wasn't true. Soon however, her attention was diverted by the explosion coming from further into the town. She lifted her green gaze from Hayes and uncrossed her arms, looking behind her to where smoke had started billowing above the rooftops.

She watched Hayes dash off, dagger in hand and turned to hear Caim's words.
"I could do with a good fight or two," she replied before turning her gaze in the direction the explosion had come from, "Better now than after I get my shoes fixed anyways."

With that, Shiori headed off, following Hayes into town. She quickly spotted a guy with his weapon drawn as she entered the marketplace and hopped into action. The bulky man was threatening a skinny fruit stall owner with a gun, whilst two other men held him in place. Tucked in the pirate's belt was a sheathed katana. The stall owner was pleading for his life, but the pirate merely grinning at him, using him as an example to the other stall owners in the market place.

Not wasting any time, Shiori used her Wave Step to get in close. Skidding across the ground, Shiori ducked under the pirate's arm before kicking upwards, forcing the pirate's arm upwards just as the shot rang out, burying itself in a nearby roof rather than the stall owner's skull.

The tawny haired captain glared at the other pirate with ferocity in her green eyes. She recognized the stall owner as the same one she'd bought her dragon fruit from earlier.
"What's wrong with buying your stuff at the tag price like everyone else?" she practically growled at the man before retracting her leg. The brief moment of shock that her actions had bought seemed to be over and she found herself flipping backwards out of the bulky man's reach as he moved to grab his katana.

Before he could get any further, Shiori turned and attacked the men holding the stall owner captive, a powerful fishman karate punch to each stomach provoking them to let go so that the guy could scramble free.

Hayes couldn't hear Shiori's reply as he ran towards the smoke and violence. As wind rushed pass his ears, he could barely hear the screams of the townspeople over the sounds of explosions and gunshots. When he entered town, he saw many parents rush there children inside, the men of the island donning pot helmets and brooms and other blunt objects. They were obviously no match for the pirates, who had guns, swords and the like.

He saw the fish seller from earlier running away from two large, burly men, both with guns. The teen ran up a building and dived at one of them with his dagger pointed forward. He started to spin around and yelled out "Spiral Lunge!" The attack hit head on, and the pirate fell backwards from the force. The other pirate stopped as he watch his companion fell with a loud thud. Before the man could recover from the shock, Hayes started slicing at him with his dagger quickly, barely giving any room for a counter attack. He, too, fell with a crash. Hayes turned towards the fish seller, who had tripped when the teen attacked. "Hurry up and get out of here! Get as many people to safety as you can! It's too dangerous for anyone who doesn't know how to fight!" The man just nodded and scrambled up rapidly, yelling for everyone to run inside.

The brown haired teen ran throughout the streets, taking down more pirates along the way. He told everyone the same thing he told the fish seller. He was thankful that everyone listened to him for once. Even though they all bullied him, he still cared for the town more than anything. He didn't want any more lives to be taken by pirates.

Instead of sprinting, Caim calmly walked after the two, seeming not to show any odd behavior over what was occurring. It seemed odd how he could remain so calm at first as he walked towards the scene of battle, however it was just that he was used to chaos, what with him coming from the grand line.

When he arrived on scene, he saw a separate man running, a rifle, a standard Flintlock, was aimed towards him by a cackling pirate, his gear seemed... Underwhelming and in embarrassing condition, the blade by his side seeming rusted slightly. As the bullet was loosed towards the runner, Caim intervened, using his Devil fruit ability to stop the bullet in mid air, making it loose all of it's momentum.

The pirate staggered momentarily from shock, and quickly reached for his sword... but that was gone as well. Back over to Caim, he held the blade from the hilt, seeming to be examining it. "A poorly maintained weapon is an insult to any true expert of said classification of weapon... please better maintain them" Caim said before quite literally throwing the poorly maintained blade towards the pirate.

In panic of the scene, the pirate complete missed the catch, finding the rusted blade impaling him in the shoulder, having provided plenty of time for the runner to escape. "Pathetic" He sighed as he walked towards the now wounded pirate. Finished him off with a swift horizontal swipe of the blade, Caim moved on, heading off to try and find his companions.

The two pirates who had been holding the stall owner captive clutched their stomachs, doubled over in pain after Shiori's hit. Shiori opened her mouth to speak to the fruit stall owner, but didn't have time as she had to duck another gunshot from the first pirate, grabbing the owner by the shoulders and pulling him down with her to prevent him from being shot and killed.

Quickly moving into action, Shiori called at the stall owner to run before turning her attention to the burly pirate and leaping nimbly over the horizontal swipe of his katana. The skinny stall owner quickly scrambled to his feet and ran off down the street and away from the attacking pirates, calling back a brief "Thankyou!" before he disappeared around the corner to somewhere much safer.

Returning her attention to her opponent, Shiori dodged another swipe of his katana before lashing out with another kick once the swipe reached it's peak. Easily knocking the weapon from his grasp, the tawny haired captain couldn't help but wonder why he bothered to carry the sword if he didn't know how to use it.

Not wasting any time, she charged forwards and launched a water powered punch at the man's gut, winding him and allowing her to kick him in the head, knocking him out.

Dusting herself down now that the immediate danger had been dispersed, Shiori took a moment to look around. There were a few more pirates in the area and it seemed that Caim had taken care of a few. It looked like the pirates had depended less on their own strength but more on the fact that the civilians wouldn't fight back, as their technique wasn't exactly stellar.

Hayes continued running through the streets, yelling at the townspeople to get inside or somewhere safe. He had gotten pretty far without getting hurt that much. These pirates weren't much to brag about. Just as he was thinking that, he stepped into a trap and was hoisted up in a net. "Damn, I should have paid more attention." He saw an even larger man than the other pirates, pointing a gun at Hayes's face.

"Well, well, well. Seems like we finally caught one of the people who were taking down our captain's men." His voice was deep and gravelly. "You fell right into my trap. That's why they call me Trapster Timmy." The Pirate laughed, his pistol still aimed at Hayes.

Caim had continued to advance calmly, hacking down Hostile after Hostile that found themselves in his way with relative ease, having no issue as a result of their relative lack of skill. As soon as he caught sight of the scene with Hayes from a difference, Caim backed up behind a building before he was noticed. "They outnumber me and if I approach normally they're likely to immediately plant a bullet into his head... And if I get him down by Zefakyanon the same will probably happen... I still have that one option I suppose" Caim quietly muttered under his breath before backing up further into cover... He had to get in the air.

"Yowayowa... Leviatain" Caim spoke as he began to levitate, soon taking flight high up into the air, to the point that a drop would probably easily break his legs. Naturally he did have to hold his breath as the pressure began to grow stronger, he could feel his ears popping and a harsh pain going down his neck... It was time.

"Itto-Ryu" He began to speak as he fell, before falling down towards the scene involving Hayes, he was still in pain, but the life of another was more important here. Caim soon became visible, falling towards them at great speed from the great height he was at. Ten no kurasshu He called out as he slowed himself down as he approached the earth and the pirate that was holding the gun at Hayes.

Aiming for a simple crushing blow, he intended to try and use the combined falling momentum along with his own strength to try and completely hack the foe in half. He was hoping his Captain would catch on and be able to break the net while he bought them time.

Looking around, Shiori could spot one or two of the marketplace shopkeepers who seemed to know a little about fighting and were working together to hold their own against the remainder of the attacking pirates. Satisfied that they'd be fine without her help, the tawny haired captain turned her attention back to Hayes, just as he was hoisted into a net.

Shiori was a little confused at how Hayes would be trapped so easily, but no matter. Seeing that Caim was taking care of the pirate pointing the gun, the captain focussed her own attention on a few of the remaining pirates. Charging towards one of them, she kicked the sword from his hand, disarming him and allowing her to deal a punch to the man's gut. The punch sent him flying, landing in what had once been a stall selling odd trinkets. Shiori would probably have felt a little bad at destroying the small stall if she wasn't distracted by a second individual.

Ducking down and merely kicking this pirate's legs out from underneath him, Shiori took advantage of the now clear area, Caim having dealt with the last of the trio and the one who had originally trapped Hayes. The tawny haired captain leaped up, deftly removing one of her throwing knives from beneath her blue jacket and cutting Hayes down.

Shiori landed neatly, looking to the cook with a small grin.
"You should probably pay more attention to your surroundings if you don't wanna get trapped like a fish again," she chuckled, unknowingly echoing Hayes's own thoughts from earlier.

Hayes was ready to accept the bullet to the face upon the sound of the pistol being cocked, when he heard something being yelled out. He couldn't make it out, but only a second later, the teen saw Caim flyind towards and cutting Timmy. The pirate was almost frozen in time, a shocked look on his face, and fell with a loud thud.

"Wow. How did you do that? I didn't think anyone could leap to get an angle like that from any of the buildings around here." His ice blue eyes sparkled, a million thoughts racing through his mind of how the older man could have done this. He was so lost in thought, he hadn't even realized that a certain tawny haired girl was cutting him out.

Hayes returned to reality when he hit the hard ground, and looked up at Shiori. "You know, I was thinking the same thing. Except I didn't think of myself as a fish. More of a rabbit or something." The chocolate haired teen got back up, grabbing his dagger, which had fallen on the dirt previously, in the process. "Thanks for saving me. I think we have some things to discuss about what you said earlier."

Even if they were pirates, they had just saved his life. He would at least listen to them before jumping to conclusions this time. Heh, if they really are pirates, what has this world come to? Outlaws that would save a stranger's, nay, many lives. That's something you don't see everyday.

Caim took a moment to steady himself and to recover from the two rapid shifts of pressure that he had just endured. He couldn't deny it had been painful, however as far as he was concerned, It got the job done, that was what mattered in the situation just moments ago. Glancing towards his Captain and the now freed Hayes, he shook his head and sighed.

"Save your talk for when we've dealt with what remains. I doubt these sorry excuses for pirates were the entirety of the Crew" Caim spoke, seeming to remain focused on the task at hand. Better to cut off the head before they can regroup than give them a chance to lick their wounds and strike back.

The tawny haired captain shrugged lightly at Hayes's comment about comparing himself more to a rabbit than a fish. It was a fair analogy, it just happened that Shiori had spent more time at sea than on land and fish analogies came to her more easily.

Nevertheless, her expression turned to more of a neutral contemplation as Hayes brought up the conversation they'd attempted to have before.
"You're welcome, but our conversation can come later," she replied, nodding to Caim to acknowledge the helmsman's words before she turned her gaze to the surrounding area, her gaze landing on one of the boats in the harbour. It was very clearly flying a black flag.
"I have some words to share with someone else first," Shiori added, tucking her throwing knife back beneath her jacket and heading towards the ship.

Upon said ship stood a large man. He appeared to be leaning upon a large battle axe as he watched his crew from the safety of the ship. Despite the fact that many of his crew were down for the count, he seemed to have no intention of intervening anytime soon.
A few stray crew members remained on the ship, but Shiori all but ignored them, her attention focused on the individual who was clearly their captain, identified by the orders he barked at those below him.

Using an altered version of her wave step, Shiori propelled herself into the air once she got closer to the ship. From this height, she flipped mid-air, dropping towards the large man with the intention of striking him with her leg. A shout from one of the other crew members alerted the enemy captain in time however, and he drew his battle axe up to block the water powered kick.

In Hayes's mind, he assumed he looked like an idiot.  He had completely forgotten about the captain.  They really didn't have time to discuss anything until after the pirates were down.  The teen then ran off after Shiori, realizing that she was heading for the leader of these behemoths.  He jumped from roof to roof, not paying any attention to the other pirates, who, too, were running back to the ship.

By the time Hayes got to the ship, the captain and Shiori were already in battle.  He looked around to find someone to mess with, finally, his eyes landing on a very large neanderthal of a man, and jumped at him with cat-like agility.  He unsheathed his dagger, and faced the man.

The pirate stopped watching the battle as he looked at this puny kid who looked like he wanted to fight.  "Do you really think you can stand up to me?"  He bellowed out with a hearty laugh.  "No as small as you could ever defeat the Great Joey!"  He made no attempt at grabbing a weapon, and closed his hands into fists.  Some other pirates looked ready to fight, but one look back from Joey told them to stay out of it.  "I'll finish him off good!"

Hayes was not intimidated by the giant.  He glared at Joey with a cold stare, emphasized by his ice blue eyes.  No longer was there a sparkle or shimmer of happiness.  This was his hate for pirates and people who looked down on him combined.  "I think that you'd better run, if you value your life."  The chocolate haired teen said cooly. "I won't show mercy to anyone who dares to look down on anyone.  Especially when that 'anyone' is a pirate."

"You sure have a death wish, kid."  Joey was unfazed by Hayes's words.  People like that talk big all the time.  The behemoth charged at the kid, but he had disappeared in the blink of an eye.  "Up here!"  He yelled out to the pirate below.  Hayes had jumped onto one of beams holding the sails, and looked down with a smirk.  He jumped down as soon as Joey saw him, and started spinning in the air.  "Spiral Lunge!"  The teen hit the pirate in his large, beefy shoulder, and jumped away before he could retaliate.

Caim, instead of running off headfirst into battle had taken a more cautious approach. He had advanced quietly with merely his Katana in hand, no other weapon in sight. He had the intention of cutting off any retreating Pirates and eliminating them, he had to ensure his captain didn't get flanked by returning enemies.

In silence and apparent thought he approached the vessel, noting the numerous pirates on board, including numerous large foes... Just like that one giant of a Marine from Carat. Instead of leaping headfirst into an attack he merely walked towards the vessel, intending to let them strike first and punish.

At the base of the vessel a large, muscular Pirate stood, a large, heavy chain in hand and wrapped around his wrists, seemingly waiting for the rest of the survivors to retreat to the vessel. As the giant of a man noticed Caim, he smirked and advanced forwards, intending to deal with the most immediate issue before supporting his Captain against the Woman that assaulted him.

Lashing out at a distance with the large chain, Caim swiftly dodged and turned his walk into a sprint, rushing towards his foe with his blade by his side.

Shiori glared at the large man with her fierce green eyes as her attack was blocked by the opposing captain's weapon, leaving a thin cut on her leg. Acting quickly, she disengaged before any further harm could come to her leg and landed nimbly on the deck in a crouched position.

Standing back up to her full height, she continued to glare at her opponent who had paused to chuckle at Shiori's failed attempt to take him down. No taking too kindly to this guy's attitude, Shiori practically growled at the man as she spoke.

"What gives you the right to threaten lives for supplies that you could easily have paid for?" she asked, her tone one of unusual malice, something not usually attributed to her more cheerful self. The other captain raised his large battleaxe and made to swing it at Shiori. The tawny haired teenager managed to dodge it with a nimble use of her wave step, but continued speaking, not making a move to attack again just yet.
"You could have even stolen without threatening the people who live here! Was it really too much to ask that you not shed blood for such a petty reason!?"

With those words, she sped forward once again, having now got at least a little taste of the man's speed. Such a lumbering and heavy weapon didn't seem like much of a match for her, with her small form and much speedier attack patterns, and she attempted to prove that by dodging around the man, aiming to attack from behind.

The chocolate haired teen continued to dodge, duck and dive away from all of Joey's punches.  Not a single attack had made contact, and the pirate had started to get annoyed.  It was if the kid had trained his entire life just to fight someone like this.  Soon after, Hayes started running around, a faint smirk evident on his skin.

Right where I want you.  The teen looked back to see the large man charging towards him.  Right when Joey was about to make contact, the agile kid flipped over his head.  Right when he was above his neck, Hayes stabbed into an area left of the small of the pirate's back.

Joey screaming in pain as his nerves were ripped apart, and fell with a thud.  He looked at the other pirates who had stood off to the side.  as soon as his glare hit each and every one of them, the men ran off in fear.  If this kid could beat their brute, then what chance did they have?

Meanwhile, only a few meters away, the captain of the crew was fighting Shiori.  As Shiori had sped her way behind him, he tried to attack, but was too slow.  He got hit just under his shoulder, and fell forward.  As he got up, his earlier smirk disappeared.  "How dare you attack me?!"  The titan of a man roared.  "Don't you know who I am?!  I am Half-Giant Bobby!  What could a puny woman like you possibly due to a man wanted for 10,000,000 Berris?!"

Caim had advanced the fight into his preferred territory, up close and personal, Meito to Chain. Naturally in such close quarters the faster, smaller swordsman held a large advantage over the chain wielding giant, who despite everything seemed to take the cutting strikes of the blade well, barely seeming to mentally acknowledge then. As he jumped back slightly to avoid a large strike by the giant's sweeping arm, it smirked and pulled back with the chain, tripping the swordsman.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the foe closed and aimed for another strike, but Caim was quick enough to evade. Rolling to his left and swiftly standing back up, he lashed out with a brutal strike to his foe's arm, causing a deep bleeding wound. However, his foe immediately brought the chain around and trapped his arm, keeping them locked in such a close vicinity with his blade unavailable.

Taking a vicious punch to chest, Caim was launched backwards, quite winded by the strike, his Meito left where he once was. Disarmed of his primary weapon, the giant charged, however Caim merely smirked and waited. As the giant lashed out with the chain, Caim stepped to the side and grabbed it, pulling forwards as if wanting to lure his foe in. Dodging past as his foe came barreling through, Caim finally made his move.

"Yowayowa Ayatsurimasu" He called out as he began with his telekinetic ability. Manipulating the chain to swiftly wrap around his opponents legs and trip it, He then immediately lifted the chained foe into the air, using as much concentration as he could to keep it going. Pulling out his revolver, he did his best to take aim at his chained foe as the rest of it slithered up his form, wrapping around it's neck before it could cry out for help. As the chain rapidly wrapped around his foe's neck, it tightened, fulfilling the goal of strangling his foe. Forcing it to turn it's head to face towards the swordsman, he opened fire.

One round, implanted within the lower abdomen. The second, implanted in his foe's right arm. The third... Right through the skull. Being forced to release his foe as his mental strength waned, The floating body, clearly visible from the Pirate Vessel and just a little further into town, fell down to the ground with blood dripping from the wounds and bullet holes.

Taking a moment to levitate onto the ship once He had reclaimed his Meito, he glanced around at the situation. Seeing that Hayes had brought another larger foe down, He merely nodded his head and left it be... His secret was out now... His power revealed.
