A Wonderful Experiment! [Open]

(Axel's Energy: 22-5 = 17)

It was a nice sunny day in this strange world of pokemon. Hundreds of different species walking, running, swimming, flying and even digging through it, getting ready to do their daily routine, as it was dawn. Some already began the day however, and would continue to do so. Pecha Forest was particularly lively, not a lot of diverse species inside of it but there were a ton of pokemon the few species that inhabited it. Numerous amounts of trees made for excellent games of hide-and-seek, tag, and many others that the children would play, picking some berries and apples from then once they got hungry. While they played, the adults were talking to eachother in various groups, some doing so while gathering ingredients necessary for them to make meals later in the day. In one group there were two pidgeys talking to eachother on top of a long and thick tree branch sticking out of the middle of a tree, several meters off of the ground. One seemed quite aggresive towards the other.

"Every single day I tell you to stay off of my tree Phil, so why don't you scram!" shouted one of the pidgeys while moving it's wings up and down quickly, showing his anger.

"Listen here, Chuck. I don't think you realize that you can't just claim everything in the forest, alright? Just stop that!" shouted Phil back, getting as angry at Chuck as he was to him. Watching this situation go down was a hawlucha, hiding at the top of the tree in it's leaves. It was only about a day after Axel, the name of this hawlucha left Grassveil Town to begin his little experiment. It was his fault his mother died, or at least he thought it was, so he needed to find a new 'voice' and not be so shy all of the time, so that he could be helpful when it matters. looking at these two pidgeys, he thought that maybe a person had to be a little aggressive to achieve what was needed of them, even though you might hurt a person's feelings? Before he could even think about what he was doing, Axel jumped out of the leaves and flew towards the two like a bullet, landing on his feet right inbetween them. He turned to Phil and began cracking his knuckles. He was a foot taller than him and Phil, and stood out as a more exotic-looking pokemon, with the back of his wings being red as well as his arms and neck, his wings being green in the front, his white chest and legs, his green mask-like face and beak, yellow eyes and every other feature a hawlucha had.

"No, you are wrong Phil, but Chuck isn't the one this tree belongs to. It is all mines, so get off of it. bith of you!" he shouted, causing the faces of both pidgeys to get swallowed by an expression if fear as they flew away as fast as they could. They never saw a hawlucha before, but the species was much bigger than they were, so they didn't want to take the chance. Axel felt a little bad about hos actions, but they seemed to have worked. Maybe if he did this to the bandits they wouldn't have killed his mother. Still. he needed to experiment a little more, with this personality as well as others to make sure which one was perfect for him.

A Trapinch came waddling up through Pecha Forest for the third time, grinding his jaws in apparent surprise; It was much different than he last two times he visited. Many species of the forest residents were bustling about and speaking freely among another, much like in Grassveil Town. There had to be hundreds of Pokemon here! Sinai's zigzagged mouth curled into a big grin and he couldn’t help but hop up and down excitably. What a crowd! This is it.. This is my chance to look awesome! Interrupting him suddenly in his self-celebration, a pair of panicked Pidgey flew past his face in a fleeing blur. They were chattering some nonsense that Sinai couldn’t interpret, but they certainly seemed scared out of their feathers by something!

The Trapinch puffed out his little chest the best he could to look heroic, also glancing off towards the direction the Pidgey took flight from. ”All that’s there… Is a dumb tree?” He scowled with disbelief and moved carefully towards the single sturdy Pecha Berry tree; It was rather beautiful actually, and was neatly decorated with the pink Pecha fruit. “Seriously? Those guys were scared of a tree?! Pfft, spineless birds...” The tan-colored ant was completely unaware that a very different bird inhabited that very tree, and was oblivious to it if it happened to be listening. ”The Pecha Berries up there do look nice n’ ripe, though.. I’m gonna get some~” Sinai stepped back to peer up at the high branches; Climbing was NOT an option to a Ground-Type like him. He decidedly picked to headbutt the trunk, so he began brushing his stumpy legs backward like a Tauros would before charging. “A’ight, one… Two.. THREE!” The Trapinch rushed forward with jaws clamped shut, slamming his big head against the rough bark with a resounding THUD; If anything happened to be inside or nearby the tree, they would've easily heard the racket. He tumbled backward dizzily, and the Pecha Berries simply swayed once at his attempt; He huffed with annoyance, getting ready to try again, “Fine,.. I'll give it another go.."

Axel was now walking back and forth across the tree branch, thinking more upon his actions. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to be aggressive, since it seemed that he sent fear into those two Pidgeys as well as hurt them mentally. 'Was this really what I needed to do to ensure protection against bad guys' he though seriously. While he walked however, a trapinch began talking on the ground right next to the tree, commenting about the pidgeys, believing that they flew off due to the tree itself. That made Axel want to laugh, but he didn't, instead just peering his neck out and looking at the pokemon, right before it did a headbutt, hitting the tree. Due to the fact that his feet were on edge attempting to look at the trapinch, the hawlucha tripped off of the branch and began to fall, but it never hit the ground, it's wings moving up and down as he floated over the causer of his fall.

"A small trapinch messing up my focus time? does the spineless ant not want to do that to me directly?" Axel replied harshly with an angry-looking facial expression, emphasis on spineless, trying to be like the trapinch. Nothing more to his behavior than simple experimentation and curiosity of this pokemon's reaction.

"Huh?" The arrogant ant tilted his head skyward to catch the Hawlucha's graceful descent, tensing up immediately at his harsh voice. The fellow was exotically-colored and his facial markings imitated a bright green mask; Sinai was pretty impressed by the feathered fighter's display, but simply sneered in his face. "Who do you think you are, calling Sinai the Great spineless! I oughta knock you into next week for insulting me!"

The Trapinch tried to force himself on his stubby back legs to stand tall like the bipedal stranger, but swayed like an idiot. "S-.. So you watch your mouth!" He grinned with satisfaction when he finally managed to stand shakily, his head unbalancing his pitifully small body; He only reached halfway up to the wrestling Pokemon's red-patched chest. "What the heck are you anyway, Masky? You're the weirdest-lookin' bird I've ever seen..."

As the hawlucha landed on the ground in front of the plain orange trapinch, it apeared that he wasn't one to just talk behind people's backs it seemed. He also had the guts to verbally defend himself as well as be prepared to duke it out with a pokemon a bit taller than him, as well as being able to fly, which gave him a slight advantage. Still, Axel didn't know the power of this stranger, and even though he didn't look like much of a threat, he may be hiding some kind of secret power that can get arrogant foes. For this reason Axel he to re-evaluate his way of thinking towards this situation.

'Hmmmm, so it seems that aggressiveness doesn't intimidate everyone. If this little guy isn't even afraid of me, how will bandits be towards me?' Axel thought, having to change up his persona immediately to tackle this with a different approach. In order to 'start over' with this stranger trapinch, or at least try to, Axel turned his angry expression into a blank one and began speaking.

"Hmmm, so a tough guy then? Welp, you pass my test buddy," Axel told him, trying to play off that entire scene. Maybe if attempting to frighten people didn't work, he could maybe form friendships that wouldn't cause them to be so violent? The hawlucha stretched out his right hand, hoping the trapinch would shake it with one of his small... limbs, then he formed a smile. "Sorry for the display of bravado, heheh. I don't want to be friendly to just anyone around these parts."

This is more like it! The Trapinch thought triumphantly, noting the Hawlucha’s sudden change of attitude with slight puzzlement, but naturally took it that the bird obviously wised up; This was Sinai, Hero of Grassveil after all, the smartest, strongest and coolest Pokemon the world has ever known… At least in his self-procliamed fantasies.

”Of course I passed your, uh.. Test! It was easy, really.. A piece of cake~” He continued to shakily stand and swerve, grasping the stranger’s proffered clawed-hand with his left stumpy arm. Sinai had learned from an Axew named Theo that an exploration team would be a fitting career for a warrior like himself, and was on the lookout for a skilled partner that could 'keep up’; Due to Dragon-type blood running rampant in his veins, the Trapinch was deeply captivated by the treasures and rewards that so-called Explorers reaped. The bird before him truly looked like a seasoned fighter! Maybe Masky would make a good sidekick.. Pondering momentarily at the idea, the Ground-Type’s mouth gaped wide with an empty zigzagged grin.

“No worries!.. Masky, what’re you doin’ in Pecha Forest anyway, huh?” Sinai gestured to 'Masky’s’ beautifully bright colored feathers, ”You don’t look like the kind of Pokemon that’d live in a place like this.."

The trapinch immediately started acting like a victor once Axel attempted and succeeded to let his past actions get lost in existence. He was still standing up on just two legs, shaking as he attempted to stand still while asking Axel what he was doing in this forest, adding that his appearance made it kinda obvious that he wouldn't be living here.

"Well, you see, I just left my home in Grassveil Town north of here to start out on my adventure across the globe! Surely it will be more exciting then staying in such a boring place, heh," Axel told him while smiling, half-lying. It was true that Axel wanted to explore the world, but he didn't leave his town just to do that, and he didn't find it boring. He was on an important mission to 'find himself,' and he thought that it would just complicate things if he got others involved in his story.

"Ohh! I gotcha, that makes sense!" He nodded, finally trembling back down on all fours with a relieved sigh. The somewhat naive Sinai didn't even question the Hawlucha's sincerity, half-consciously beginning to gape with awe. "You really stick out like a sore thumb, but I bet you've been all over the place.. Th-.. That's kinda cool.." It wasn't too often that Sinai forgot about his 'I'm-the-best-now-bow-down' shtick, but he obviously was very intrigued by the wrestler-bird's style.

The tiny tan insect had only met a few spare Pokemon before this stranger; A cold Sneasel named Crysel, and an optimistic young Axew named Theo; This individual was a bit more offbeat. Something flickered in those sharp yellow eyes that even Sinai the Great couldn't figure out.. Something like insecurity, maybe? As much as it frustrated him not to know what this guy's intent was, it all the more fascinated him.. He bounced hopefully at the Hawlucha's side, getting ahead of himself like a human child would on Christmas morning. "Where are you going next, Masky? C-.. Can I come?"

OOC: Yo Tommy, maybe we can continue this later, but I won't have access to the internet for a while. Sorry for dragging you into what could only be focused on for a few days. Didn't know at the time. Perhaps you could get a staffer to archive it and we can re-enter the plot when I get back? Just a thought.
