| Lapis tilted her head.
"Well maybe the problem is beyond that now, and until you believe in yourself and really try, you'll never fix. I'm no shrink, though, so why listen to me..." the Goomy sighed.
Lapis was probably better off waiting tables at restaurants or such. She was no good at trying to be independent. She needed lines to follow all her life, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't break from them.

| Zorre took a look back at Lapis. He felt bad for freaking out on her when she was only being friendly. "Am sorry, I," he said. "Walk me want to with?" he offered, indicating the path ahead. Maybe they could become friends? She didn't seem to be upset with him for his speech impediment, so that was something. Maybe they could have a smoothie at the cafe he had been at when he had been to Rainfront Town before. | |

| Lapis got rid of her upset face and came to a smile again.
"I would enjoy that very much."
She was glad he finally pulled himself together, but the way he freaked out was one of the many reasons why Lapis disliked most guys without even knowing them. It wasn't fair to most, especially those who are actually sweet and not rude at all. Lapis needed to change that about herself, but sadly, change isn't easy for anyone.

| Zorre smiled at Lapis self-consciously. "...rude, me not mean be... but... pokemon are what you?" he asked curiously. "Seen not before." he admitted. He continued walking down the main street of Rainfront Town. He noticed the cafe from his previous visit to the town. He walked over to the cafe. "Lunch, you want?" he offered Lapis. | |

| Lapis grinned differently now at his question. She wasn't surprised or bothered by it.
"I'm a Goomy, however normal ones of my species are actually purple, and their spots are green. They also don't have these wings, which are faux. Might I ask you the same question?"
She looked up at the Pokemon to get a good look. She wanted to remember what it looked like, so she knew the species. She did that with all new Pokemon she met.
Upon his second question, she nodded. Even though she had just eaten, she didn't want to let him down by saying she did so already. She wished to make him remain happy.

| Zorre led the way into the cafe cheerfully. He sat down at a table in the front of the cafe. "Scyther, species mine be... dyed black, green normal, though." he said. A bellossom came over to take their order, and he blushed again. "Smoothie... strawberry?" he said slowly, to ensure that he didn't mess up his order. He looked at Lapis. "Me on, bill it is," he offered. | |

| Lapis looked attentive at what he was saying. This place he brought her seemed very nice. She tried to remember the name 'Scyther' along with Zorre. The waitress who approached also seemed nice, to whom Zorre gave the orders.
Lapis started to look unpleased. She wasn't used to being the one who gave someone else an order.
"I--uh, I mean... I'll have a Pecha berry shake... If you don't mind..." Her antennae flattened shyly to her head. If she worked here, she'd be more comfortable, but honestly the idea of getting a job never crossed her mind.

| Zorre nodded at Lapis' words, and when the bellossom brought back their drinks, he took a drink of his immediately, enjoying the sweet taste of strawberries. He looked across the table at Lapis and wondered what to talk about. "Here live, you do?" he asked curiously. | |

| Lapis looked uncomfortable at the realization now that she would have to eat in front of someone. She hated doing so, and just watching the way Zorre gulped down his own made the Goomy wish she were elsewhere. Saying anything would be rude, so she decided to take her own and simply stare at it.
Then the realization struck that he was paying for this. Paying for a full glass would be even more rude. But it was also important not to rush, or she would look like a slob. Her eyes went thin merely at the thouht he would have to see the way she needed to bring the glass closer, or carry the straw into the drink. If she created a diversion...
"Yes, in fact, I do live here. Just across the street in that little cottage."
Her face turned darker blue in the tension. She had to wait for just the right moment, right when he looked away to find it to do everything without him seeing, and he would still think she was a dainty little thing, no problem. The stress began to make Lapis feel faint, but she showed nothing in her voice.

| Zorre looked out at the street to see where the Goomy was indicating. He scanned the houses across the street, wondering what the goomy meant by 'cottage'. "Mean what cottage by you?" he questioned, looking back at Lapis curiously, unaware that the goomy was trying to hide something from him. | |

| Now was her chance. She brought her goo forth onto the table as it grasped the straw, she released it into the cup, and sucked it all back in. She knew it was a disgusting sight, so she did it all before he looked back for his own good.
"The cute little wooden vacation home, from the direction you were headed just before. That little log cabin is where I live. I don't quite own it, though, my parents have me take care of it while theyre home."
Phew. It was close, but now Lapis felt at ease that she could pull that off, especially because she's such a slow Pokemon. She finally got herself to smile again, and sipped lightly out of her straw with caution, making sure not to even make a sound, which was successful. All she had to do was sip silently throughout the afternoon and she was safe from judgement.

| Zorre didn't notice the goomy's quick actions, and he kept talking as if nothing was wrong. He nodded at the goomy's words, taking a sip from his glass before continuing the conversation. "See do I. Yourself house clean by all?" he asked curiously, eyes wide as he tried to imagine the small pokemon cleaning a whole house all by herself. | |

| She swallowed without a trace and nodded.
"Yes, but since no one is there but me all the time, it's less than nothing. My parents visit once a month, and only sometimes do they let friends stay there without their presence. You see, I'm not really their child, but rather a house maid they treat as one."
Lapis began to unwind gradually enough so that she was comfortable with talking about herself again. But Lapis was also very interested in Zorre's story. So far she found out he was wild at one point, but she didn't know which direction was rude to him—asking him too much, or talking about herself so much he couldn't say anything. She decided to keep it to a couple of short sentences each time, and allow him to relate or whatever was necessary.

| Zorre looked at Lapis in confusion. "Maid?" he questioned, feeling stupid. He started blushing again and cursed his little knowledge of civilized pokemon. "Stupid, sorry, I am..." he apologized. "Understand not, I, pokemon of civilized..." he said, frowning. | |

| Lapis looked up, thinking her words carefully.
"Yes. Like this flower who waited us, for example. We ask her to do things, and she does it for us. A maid does that with everything around the house. If someone wants the servant to make them a sandwich, they do so, if they have to clean the dishes, they do so, if they have to take care of the children, they do so. They follow directions all the time as a job."
