The Search Begins

Sosio gazed at the forest, so shrouded with thoughts, she couldn't even think. The trees were mellow, yet she was filled with excitement as she strolled down the autumn lane, breathing the crisp air as if it was made of a gold that would never last long enough.

The leaves reflected the golden air feel, in all shades of orange and yellow. Even the trees that were brown seemed colorful, whether covered in sap or moss or nothing at all. The amount of trees was almost overwhelming, the need to land on them rising. But she was stuck to traveling the ground as her wing lay crippled awkwardly on her side.

Ned the Nincada was still skittering through the forest, aimlessly looking for an exit. This place had seemed to be a perfect place to retreat and hide from all the feral Pokémon and explorers, but for some reason it was now swarming with guild members and the feral Pokémon weren't the most polite areamates.
But of course the entire copse had to be an island in the middle of a huge body of water and could only be left over one select path. A path the Nincada would now have to find or he would never have his peace and quiet he would need to evolve.
Then again - he had never really had that anywhere. But still the Bug type should get away from here. It was much too dangerous for someone as weak as he was.

Sosio was far too mesmerized to listen to the earth. She didn't even care if she ran into a wild Pokemon. She didn't care about anything but the beauty of the place right now. Trees were almost everything to her, and the love for them never died down. Of course, she wouldn't be gazing around like this in any other forest, but this one called to her, and was so much more beautiful than any other she had seen, not to mention she herself was the one who discovered it.
"Unbelievable..." she whispered.


Suddenly, from not paying attention, the stunned Fletchling tripped over a rock, stumbling in attempt not to fall. She shook her head, shaking off the dizzyness and returning to her normal pace. She wasn't used to walking without looking down most of the time. Sosio was different from most other birds. She didn't follow birdly insticnts like most others. She never migrated, never ate a bug, and never ran away from supposed threats like a bird would. Instead, she was rather afraid of insects. That was probably because she was raised by grass-types.

Sosio's Energy Level:

Ned simply kept wandering the woods, trying to find a way out of here.
Just why did he think it would have been a good idea to wander onto what essentially was an island when he himself had a weakness against water?
But there was no use moaning about it now. Now was the time for actions and thus he continued his search. Just how difficult could it be to find the way he came from again?
Now he would only have to have the luck not to run into any enemies. Oh, who was he trying to fool?
Of course he would be running into enemies. Just like that Flying type in front of him.
Wait, what?

Sosio watched the ground as she stepped now, feeling and observing the soil. No wonder the trees here could thrive; the soil was a perfect condition. The fact that it was surrounded by water meant an endless supply of it, too. Some parts were soft, and some places were just plain spongy. The Fletchling was far too absorbed into what she was doing to pay attention to anything else.

After looking at the ground for far too long, she looked up, squinting to lessen the intensity of the sun. At first, what was before her she thought was a large leaf, but when her eyes came into focus, she let out a shrill shriek. Her eyes became large and, ironically, buggy. She clamped her beak shut, staring for a bit, ready to attack if it did. Remembering what she had learned from a past adventure, she breathed in deeply, feeling the crisp air once again, and sighing outwards, keeping her eyes closed.
It's just a bug. Bugs don't hurt me, bugs can't hurt me. If it attacks, I can attack back. It's just a bug...

Sosio's Energy Level:

Ned's eyes would have widened as well if he would actually use sight as his primary sense of navigation. Nevertheless he obviously was quite surprised as he smelled the Flying type in front of him all of a sudden.
"W-w-who are you?", the Bug type stammered, now quite afraid.
This was a Flying type. Yet another Pokémon with a type advantage over him.
"A-and what do you want? I don't have anything."
Just great. It apparently really was impossible for this Ground type to be left alone for more than five minutes. Did he have a huge neon sign on his back he was unaware about?

Sosio broke out of her calming focus with a startle when the insect spoke. Her wing spazzed in circular movements for a short moment, stopping suddenly to sit back.
"Uh... ehm.... I'm Sosio... an-an-an... I don't want anything from you, okay?!"
She turned her head away nervously. Her alternate instincts told her to run, but she didn't want to be rude. It was clear this pokemon wasn't native here, considering it talked.

For some reason, wild Pokemon in dungeons always attacked those who entered. Sosio never really understood that. Were there unknown treasures, or was there just a strange force within Dungeons that caused them to attack? What was so different about Pokemon in Grassveil and those of them who were is Dungeons? They all would've started out the same, and besides living conditions, what could possibly separate the two so severely that only certain could talk and others couldn't?

Sosio's Energy Level:

Now this was surprising. If this Pokémon wasn't wanting anything from the Nincada, then why was it here? Was there something it was hiding?
"Uh...I-I'm Ned.", the Nincada responded, hoping for this meeting to be over quickly. Interacting with other Pokémon somehow always seemed to result in the Nincada being dragged along on some pointlessly dangerous journey and getting himself into grave danger for no good reason.
Maybe this Pokémon would be content with simply leaving again?
Oh, who was he kidding. Of course it would not. The universe held too much of a grudge against Ned to ever make that a viable option.

Sosio looked at him through the corner of her eye. Direct eye contact with anyone made her uncomfortable.
"Well, I guess it's pretty nice to meet you... Ned..."
She let her eyes wander, beak held together and feet tapping anxiously. She wondered curiously what the bug-type could be doing here, but she didn't feel like asking. The mood didn't feel right. The Fletchling didn't even feel acquainted enough to move, much less begin exploring. She felt far too uncomfortable, and so she just stood there awkwardly, staring off and up into the distance, unmoving.

Sosio's Energy Level:

"Uh, nice to meet you too I guess.", Ned responded, thoroughly overwhelmed with the situation.
What was he supposed to do now? Just walk away? But what if that was impolite? And additionally it would be quite the bad idea to turn one's back to someone with a type advantage who still could very well have been sent to defeat him and drag him back. But there also wasn't anything the Nincada could think of that could be said. And thus he simply stood there, locked in an unbearably uncomfortable silence. Well, at least it was better than having to do battle. However Ned still obviously would much rather prefer for this situation to clear itself up pretty soon so he could get back to minding his own business in his well-deserved peace and quiet.

Sosio hesitated to move several times, wobbling slightly while trying to stand for so long. She sat down, resting her legs and her eyes. She tilted her head ever so slowly, her eyes closed, as if she was falling asleep. Her ribbons drooped down the side of her neck, the tie of the bow dragging down from the gravity. She then flopped backwards, lying peacefully with her back on the ground, one wing sprawled beside her, and one curled around her belly to keep warm. She nodded her head, scrubbing the dirt beside her face. It was a good day to do nothing.

Sosio's Energy Level:

"Uh...a-are you okay?", the Nincada asked the Flying type, who seemingly had fallen asleep right in front of him. Was this a ruse to make him feel safer? Or was something else the reason?
"You really should get up again. It's not safe here. What if some feral Pokémon appears and you don't notice them because you are sitting around like that?"
This Pokémon's behaviour was worrying. Either it was woefully unaware of the inherent danger of merely being in a place like this, or it had some plan in mind which this was a part of.
And that in turn would mean that Ned would most likely have to fight for or against the Normal type - both things he'd rather not be doing. But he didn't have a choice, did he?

Sosio sat up, wings flat behind her to hold herself up.
"Do you hear something?"
She stood up on her stilt-like legs, cocking her head to hear what the Nincada might've. The Fletchling glanced around, searching for anything that could signify a Pokemon was present, but she wasn't focused.

She moved her head back and forth to try and see more behind trees, seeing the pathways she didn't notice before.
"We should probably advance..."

"N-not really.", the Bug type stammered, now getting nervous.
"Why? Do you hear something?"
Someone hearing something peculiar had never turned out to be the bearer of good news thus far, and the Ground type was sure that it wouldn't be any different here.
Most likely something horrible was going to happen soon, just as usual.
But what was it and how could they best go about preparing for it?
Undoubtably it was going to come to a fight. That had always been the case so far.
Hopefully it would be over quickly as Ned certainly wasn't the best of fighters. He wasn't even good.
And yet everyone seemed to want to pick a fight with him.

Sosio continued to look around. "No, I don't hear anything. I was just wondering if you did."

Despite the fact that the bird heard nothing, she could sense something. Then again, she always had that feeling when in a dungeon. It was the sense of presence, and often made her tingle. It felt like Pokemon were surrounding her 24/7, watching her every move, and waiting to pounce like a Purrloin on prey.

The Fletchling did, however, spot an odd object amidst the orange and red leaves, standing out with a bright yellow. It was a neat little ribbon, its use unknown to Sosio. She knew she could find out what it was at some point, but for now she just had to wait. She was in a dungeon, after all.
