Silverdawn winced as she heard the wind whip against Sova, also hearing his exclamation of pain as he landed on his injured leg. She slithered over to him and nudged him to his feet gently. "Are you ok?" She asked him carefully, sniffing at his leg to see if any grains of sand had gotten into his leg.

Sova laid for a moment. He didn't want to get up. The way the day was going, something else would go wrong and he would get hurt worse if he got up. Besides, moving was proving to be too difficult. But then the ekans spoke and he remembered that he couldn't just take a break when ever he wanted. Groaning as he arose from the sand, more out of annoyance than pain, he replied, "Nope", in a joking tone. He'd just have to pretend to be fine so he wouldn't worry the others. Besides, he was fine....for the time being, at least. The wound was doing okay and he could walk. Nothing to worry about.

Unless they got lost....again. Which, with their bad luck streak, seemed like a very realistic possibility.

Ned began to chide himself for actually having felt joy at the misfortune of others.
But now was not the time to beat oneself up. Not yet.
First the trio would have to get themselves out of this place.
However that would prove to be difficult.
It was hot, they had nothing to drink and the place was full of Pokémon two of them had weaknesses against while lacking effective moves.
If only the Nincada had evolved already, then escaping from this place should be so much easier. But no, he had to be this weak form, incapable of flight or fighting competently.

Silverdawn rolled her sightless eyes at Sova's joking response to her question. "Well I guess if you're OK enough to joke about it, you're alright to travel. Let's get going again before something ELSE happens," she stated sarcastically. She took the lead again, wincing as several grains of sand wedged themselves between her scales.

Sova laughed a bit at Silverdawn's suggestion. "Everything bad has already happened, so nothing to worry about!" He said in an attempt to lighten the mood. Hopefully it was true, they'd already had such a GREAT day, why would the world want to make it any worse? Maybe they'd even have something good happen for a change. Like finding an oasis. At least he could hope.

Ned however found himself forced to groan.
"Did you really have to say that? You should have learned by now that tempting fate is never a good idea. You both have seen what it can do."
Silently the Bug type followed behind the other two Pokémon, happy not to be bothered by the sand as much as the other two were, even though the heat was getting to him more than it did for the Ekans and the Eevee. That Eevee was something Ned simply cound not comprehend. How could he stay so positive and upbeat despite the fact of them being completely, truly and utterly screwed beyond any belief? It truly was something to be envied. Ned would rather be happy than right any second.
But he wasn't happy.

Silverdawn was slightly anxious at the bug-type's pessimistic words, but thankfully nothing happened right away. She kept on slithering forward, using her senses to ensure that they didn't run into a nest of steelix again. Finally, she sensed something other than sand. Dirt! Earth, real earthy soil and she could taste water in the air! She slithered forward excitedly. They had finally reached the edge of the edge of the desert! After spending so long in the dry sandy desert, she had begun to think that they would never reach the end of the long and harrowing journey. But they had finally reached the end, and as she slurped down some water from the stream they had come across, she was happy for the end of it.

And just like that, they were free from the desert. Sova expected the desert to slowly fade away around them, but it was pretty much all at once. There were a few signs, namely a bit more foliage than usual, but it wasn't enough for him to realize the desert was coming to an end. "Fate's a pushover." He said to the paranoid nincada before joining Silverdawn at the stream for a drink.

Finally, less sand and more water. What more could he ask for?

This was all going too well too suddenly. There had to be something horrible that was about to happen or maybe even happening right now. Maybe that stream was just an illusion and the two Pokémon were trying to drink the hot sand at this very moment.
Or maybe there was something lurking in the water. Or they had stumbled into the territory of some other feral Pokémon.
Whatever it was, this had been too easy. There was no way that this was truly the end of their journey through the desert. And hearing how Sova made fun of fate like that didn't make matters any better. Maybe the Steelix from earlier would return. Or somethig worse.
