| Brian saw Ares use Ember attack on the metallic ant, increasing the size of the fire that he had set on the creature with his own Ember attack. However, Ares's flames seemed to have much more intensity in them than Brian's flames, flickering fiercely as they burned the ant creature with their smoldering power. He could feel the heat from them, how powerful the flames were. Through their battle, Brian had learned how ruthless Ares was, not allowing any opponent he had to rest until it surrendered or had no energy left to fight with. It gave Ares an intimidating aura about him along with a commanding prescience everywhere he went. This moment only served as a reminder to how Ares truly was, though Brian had no quarrels with this. It only made him more excited with what Ares would teach him in the future.
"Hey, I think the ant thing is down." Brian said as he saw the ant creature stop crawling and fall to the ground, seeming to be unconscious.
"Man, that was quick. Well, at least I got to see my new Ember move in action." Brian said, slightly dissapointed at how quickly the ant creature went down, but still managing to stay positive thanks to the usage of his new attack.

| Flames smoldered like a contained, restrained beast at his lips as his eyes locked upon the wriggling creature. It was a predatory gaze that pierced the fallen foe's melting hide, and it was one that remained relentless in its hungry pursuit. Perhaps he might have licked his chops or perform some stereotypical ritual if fires did not rage upon his tongue. Ares considered himself a rock trapped amongst the waves that sought to turn him into nothing but dust and rubble; he would remain erect, proud, and steadfast for as long as he possibly could: he was a shrine and symbol for safety in the darkest of storms. For him, this was but child's play.
Then came Brian's observation, and the Charmander would release his powerful flame once more, hitting the seemingly unconscious and unmoving foe and blasting it back down the hallway. The sound of wet steel rolling and clanking against the stone tiles resonated, and several seconds passed before he would act again. Ruthless intensity walked with him as he moved towards the opposition, his voice clear and unwavering as he communicated with his apprentice, "It twitched." He had just pardoned his actions with an impossibility.
His tail's flame burned passionately as he paused before the defeated Durant and crouched, his clawed hand pushing it slightly to see if it responded. Nothing occurred, and he was quite satisfied. "Check for traps," he would instruct, "before you come down this way."

| "Well, okay then Ares." Brian said before he started scanning the area for anymore traps. He knew that Ares would have probably used another Ember because he saw any little movement in the ant creature, which was confirmed when he did so. Brian didn't hold it against him or anything, it was just how Ares was. Not everyone in the world was going to be merciful. He just accepted it and kept scanning for other traps in the area.
"I don't see anything else around here Ares. I think we're good to go." Brian said as he perked up, ready to continue their exploration of these mysterious ruins.

| Should Brian approach, the Charmander would straighten up and resign to the fact that their opponent had been soundly routed and defeated. His tail's flame would begin to settle, and would return to its natural state as his mind returned to focus upon the continued exploration of the ruins. His hands would fall neatly to his sides, and his eyes would lock upon the Chimchar with the seriousness of an aged mentor. His excuse had been accepted, and thus he knew that it might be possible to get away with it in the future. That was excellent to know.
Upon the invitation to proceed further, Ares would allow a pleasant, approving semblance to soothe the dour flatness of his rigid face. He would beckon for him to proceed, and speak, "Lead on, Brian. Let's hope we don't get turned around."

| "Well, with our luck so far, I doubt that will happen. Alright, onwards and outwards!" Brian said as began walking through the long pathway of the mysterious ruins, still grinning gleefully as he did. There still seemed to be more secrets to be found within the ruins. There were still strange markings on the walls that Brian couldn't decipher, and the vastness of the place made it seem bigger than it might have really been. Brian's anticipation kept building as he walked forward, awaiting whatever was down the path. "Ares, I think I see something over there. Might be another pokemon to fight." Brian said as he smirked, hoping that he would be able to have a longer and more interesting battle than the last one if what he saw was a pokemon. - pokepikoo carried out 1 launched of one Monochrome Ruins :

| This was certainly a long hallway, which might mean they had chosen correctly if the hallways followed the same length pattern. The sounds of their footfalls resonated within the stone hallway, and each step seemed to be louder and more pronounced than the last. Although Ares was all for charging headfirst into danger and hopefully coming through on the other side of it still charging, he found himself being more inclined for subterfuge and stealth in these ancient ruins. There wasn't exactly a single reason for such a sentiment, but the most prominent one was the fact that things lurked here that were beyond his knowledge. The unknown was sprawled out before him and his confidence was greatly shaken in not knowing what lurked beyond his sight.
Then came a haunted giggle, followed by shadows racing past the light of his tail's flame. Ares would follow such movements with his eyes and find nothing, and soon he had stopped moving altogether. "You are correct," snarled the Charmander, his body shifting to face Brian's target, "and I have no liking for these opponents." A Sableye had manifested from the darkness, its sneering, ghoulish grin smeared from ear to ear upon its purple mug. It twitched and moved in a jerky fashion, as if it had been just recently resurrected. If there was one thing that he despised above all else, it was a Ghost-type enemy: they were simply unnatural.

| Brian could see the pokemon come out of the darkness of the path and into his vision, seeing a dark purple like creature with sparkling eyes. Those eyes looked like blue gems, making Brian wonder what kind of creature this thing was. It was constantly twitching like it had some kind of itch on it's body that it couldn't scratch, giving the creature a very disturbing demeanor. However, this only made Brian more curious as to how the fight with it would go. Well, he would soon see as the creature lunged forward towards him, attempting to Scratch him. Brian saw this and jumped back before the creature got close.
"Well, this guy seems eager. Let's see what this creepy creature's got!" Brian said as he lunged at the creature, his right fist becoming surrounded in flames as he prepared his Fire Punch. He then thrusted his fist at the creature, but it jumped up and dodged the attack before it made contact. Brian smirked as he saw this, glad that this pokemon was giving him more of a challenge than the metallic ant from before.

| With the fight ensuing, Ares could not help but desire to sit back and observe the conflict between them. It wasn't that he was cruel or unmotivated to fighting - after all, he was as battle hungry as they come - but the fact that the Durant that they had fought prior posed no sort of challenge whatsoever. The Sableye had its focus on the Chimchar anyways, and was thus most likely going to target him for the entirety of the onslaught. It would be best to announce his intentions, so that it might not appear that he had suddenly been stricken with laziness or lack of motivation and ruthlessness; that was seen as the worst disease a warrior might succumb to.
"Brian," he would call forth, "I'm going to assess your abilities now. I want to see how well you can fight on your own against this type of enemy." Ares would hope that disappointment was not in order.

| "Well alright then. Just sit back and watch me fight." Brian said as he jumped up to attempt to hit the creature with his Fire Punch. However, the pokemon dodged the punch once again before Scratching at Brian, hitting his left cheek with his twitching claw. This damaged Brian slightly but it didn't take his mind off of the battle as he then grabbed the arm of the creature and tossed it to the ground. The creature landed on it's back, letting out a small cry of pain before Brian came crashing down, landing his Fire Punch right on the creature's chest. He jumped back after hitting the pokemon and saw it try to get back up, but struggle to due to the damage it has taken. This caused Brian to smirk as he saw that he had the upper hand in this battle, but he still kept up his guard so that he wouldn't be damaged again. | |

| Ares could not help but feel quite motivated to watch with great prudence. He was becoming more and more inclined to train this young Chimchar, but he had nary a clue where to begin: this demonstration of his skills - so graciously donated by the universe - was more than welcome to put a good marker down upon where it would be best to start. The Charmander did not know what exactly to do with his body as he watched (whether to sit, stand, etc.) and thus he merely backed off a bit and let the action ensue. Right off the bat, it seemed that Brian would prove to be a dangerous enemy. There was a ruthless, yet graceful aura to his actions that compelled him to feel quite drawn to spectating. He knew where to swing and when to attack, and seemed naturally built for battle.
This was going to be an entertaining period.

| Brian could see that the gem eyed creature was struggling to stand after getting hit by his previous Fire Punch. Brian's grin continued to widen as watched his opponent reeling, giving him a sort of satisfying feeling. While he had never battled strictly to win, purely fighting for fun and to become stronger, Brian felt powerful as he watched the pokemon twitch in pain from his attacks.
"Let's try for two punches in a row." Brian said before he leaped forward towards the twitching pokemon and aimed to hit it with another Fire Punch. The pokemon tried to get away but when it did, knelt in pain from the damage it had taken. This had given Brian enough time to get his Fire Punch ready, his fist now surrounded in flames. As he got close to the pokemon, Brian lunged his fist forward, hitting it right in the jaw. The force of the impact sent the pokemon flying into a wall, making a dent where it hit as well as a dust cloud. When the cloud cleared, Brian could see the pokemon lying on the ground in pain, making him think that it was defeated. However, the pokemon then leapt up, seeming to have caught it's second wind, and moved to use Scratch on Brian. He dashed backward to dodge this before getting into a defensive stance, wondering what the gem eyed pokemon would do next.

| Brian was a natural fighter, indeed. His blows, from Ares's expert opinion, seemed to follow a general rhythm that maintained a downbeat close to that of the battle's. The internal drum that had rounded sticks that pounded proudly against the instrument's tanned leather seemed to beat loudly in an attempt to swallow up the other's momentum; in preventing the other from recovering and setting up its own pace, he was successfully outmaneuvering the Sableye. This was simply an elite skill that many veteran warriors would die for. In mastering such tactics, victory could be all but assured. It seemed as if the Ghost-type was getting pushed around far beyond its liking for, as soon as it was knocked down, it rallied and lunged forward with a Scratch.
He quite like this Chimchar's style, and wondered what would happen in the battle next.

| "Alright, this should end it!" Brian said as his fist became surrounded with the powerful flames of Fire Punch once again. He then lunged forward towards the enraged, but tired pokemon and aimed his fist right for it's chin. Brian then moved his smoldering fist in an uppercut like fashion, hitting the gem eye pokemon right in the spot he aimed for.
"Special Move, Burning Uppercut!" Brian shouted as he connected with his attack, resulting in the gem eyed pokemon getting launched into the air and into the ceiling. The pokemon then fell to the ground, uncouncious. Brian grinned with accomplishment as he saw this, seeing that he had won the battle.
"Yahoo, I won! That was a much better fight than the one with the ant thing before." Brian said, satisfied with the fun fight that he had just finished.

| Burning Uppercut: this was most certainly a move created by the Chimchar's own design. He was unsure as to how long such a creation had existed, but was positive that it would become a common move in their future spars. It was good to be able to see how the other executed it so that he might be able to take advantage of it in the future, but such notions were not incredibly important at the moment. What mattered was the fact that the battle had been successfully concluded with Brian reigning supreme, and that was a true testament to his skills.
"Quite a show," the Charmander would comment as he approached from afar, "I'd dare say I learned a lot from this brief interim. Your skills are innately excellent, and you have a heart that does all it can to stay in rhythm with the battle." He looked forward to being able to shine this pearl some more, and then eventually stamp his insignia on him. Like an artist, he would proudly proclaim this masterpiece to be his own. He would inquire, "Enough about how I felt, how did you feel?"

| "Well, it felt good as usual. I always love the feeling of an intense battle, it's just so great. Glad you liked my performance." Brian said, glad that Ares acknowledged his abilities and enjoyed watching the battle. Hearing Ares give him this kind of praise made gave Brian a confident feeling. He could tell from the way Ares seemed to analyze the battle he had with the gem eyed pokemon, that he had probably learned something new that would allow his training to be smoother. All of these thoughts just made Brian more excited to continue.
"Alright then, let's get living again." Brian said as he walked began walking down the path they had initially started in, looking forward to what was ahead.
