Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 3:12 pm

Pikoo was slightly ticked off by the announcer's comments. He didn't particularly agree with what he had said towards himself and his opponent Jay, but it didn't distract him to much. Right now, Pikoo had to focus on the battle instead of some outside commentary.

"Let the show begin. Liepard, use Fake Out!" Pikoo said his Liepard then dashed towards Jay's Pokemon and clapped its paws together upon getting close to it. He knew that Fake Out was a move that would always make an opposing Pokemon flinch, making it a perfect opening move.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 3:34 pm

Jay had rolled her eyes at the announcer's comments, sharing her opponents attitude towards them. With a slight smile and a small shake of her head she then turned her attention towards Pikoo. Neither of them could let such silly commends distract them from the real reason they were here. Jay stood on her side of the field with her pokeball in hand, waiting for Pikoo to make his move. He had been selected to go first by a draw previous to the battle, and to be honest she couldn't be more thankful that it wasn't her having to make the first move.

Tossing the pokeball out onto the field mere moments after Pikoo had, a Fletchling emerged from it, quickly flying upward to give herself an aerial advantage with a cheerful chirrup. As the Liepard leaped towards Arietta, Jay called without hesitation, "Quick Guard!"
Before the Liepard could get in too close, Arie spread her wings, creating a bright red barrier around herself. The guard prevented the Fake Out move from landing, as per it's effects of stopping faster moves. Hoping that both Pikoo and his Liepard would be temporarily dazed from her efficient counter, Jay called for Arietta to use Overheat, using their close quarters to her advantage in an attempt too get in an early hit.
The Fletchling tucked in her wings and did a swift loop of flight, her body glowing as she used the fire type move.  As she did so, powerful flames erupted from her body, smashing into the red barrier that still surrounded her and shattering it into pieces. The shattered barrier split the Overheat into small almost comet-like projectiles that headed outwards in random directions, each comet having a firey tip but a red tail of light as a result of being combined with the remnants of Quick Guard's barrier.

PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 3:56 pm

Pikoo hadn't expected the small bird Pokemon to have an attack that took priority over Liepard's Fake Out. He also wouldn't have guessed that the Fletxhling would have the ability to use Overheat, an incredibly powerful fire type move in such a unique way. Then Pikok reminded himself that this was a contest battle. Anything could happen if a coordinator had enough imagination and skill. Besides, Pikoo could use those comets.

"Alright Liepard, use Fury Swipes on those comets!" Pikoo said as the Liepards claws began to grow and gain a white glow. Then it slashed at the comets heading towards it, ripping them to bits. This resulted into a flurry of crimson glitter from the destroyed comets to shower the Liepard as it descended back to the ground, giving it a brilliant red shine that made the Pokemon's body sparkle, especially around the eyes.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 4:21 pm

"Razor Wind, Arie!" called Jay, not giving the Liepard much chance to bask in the crimson dust it had created, "Gather them back up!"
She hoped that the fire that tipped each of the comets had done a little damage so that her efforts hadn't been completely in vain, but quickly moved on. After all, there was no time to dwell on such things, though she had to admire Pikoo's quick thinking.

Arietta, despite her small size, was able to whip up quite the powerful winds with her small wings. The Fletchling used the wind to gather the remnants of crimson dust, along with the small comets that Pikoo's Liepard hadn't sliced to pieces. The red colour of the projectiles that the wind had swallowed gave the illusion that the wind itself was red in colour, keeping in with Arie's crimson colour theme.
"Alright Arie, spin and use Peck!"
Keeling off to the left, the Fletchling began to spin as she dive bombed towards Pikoo's Liepard. Her beak glowed with a pale red as she cut through the winds she had summoned, her spinning causing them to gravitate towards her, the tiny bird now heading a crimson comet tail of her own as she sped towards Pikoo's pokemon.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 5:57 pm

Seeing the Flechling use Razor Wind to draw in the remains of the comets that his Liepard had slashed apart, Pikoo began to admire Jay's quick whit and  creative thought process. He was also impressed by the Flechling's wide variety of moved that complemented each other so well. However, that variety was something that had to be shut down.

"Now Liepard, jump above the Flechling and use Encore!" Pikoo said as the Liepard heard his commands and executed then, jumping over the small bird in order to dodge the Peck. Leopard then began to speak some sort of chatter towards the Flechling in a nice manner.

"Variety is the spice of life and that's even more true in a contest battle. Without variety, your bound to lose. Hence why Encore is the perfect move for this scenario." Pikoo said as his Liepard landed back on the ground, confident that his strategy was going smoothly.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 6:19 pm

Of course even when leaping above the Fletchling to avoid the brunt of her Peck, there was a distinct lack of ability to dodge the entirety of Arietta's fiery tail and it's razor sharp winds by leaping over it as they spread as she went past. Especially at the close quarters at which the Liepard had 'spoken' to the Fletchling, it was almost impossible to dodge all aspects of the move.

"That may be true," called Jay in response, "But that just means I have to get creative until your attack wears off," she replied.
"Fly up and disperse those winds, Arie!" called Jay. The Fletchling, still with her tail of fire and wind pulled upwards into the sky. As Arie's flight accelerated only getting higher and higher in the contest hall, the bird waited until the last moment to pull out of her upwards spinning motion and spread her wings as wide as they would go. She hoped to demonstrate her flying ability as well as her skill in this manoeuvre. At the flick of her wings, the wind and fire that had once again built up behind her was propelled outwards, sending a thin mist of red out into the air around her. The misty veil quickly dispersed before it could reach even halfway towards the ground, however. Arietta herself stood out amongst the red dust, her beak still glowing a pale red colour as she continued to use Peck.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 7:11 pm

"We'll see how creative you can get. Liepard, use Hone Claws!" Pikoo said as the Liepard's claws began to glow in a light purple shade, increasing it's attack power. A small glint could also be seen in Liepard's eyes, indicating an accuracy boost as well. However, knowing that if he had to Liepard attack the Fleching would be a bad idea, considering that it had much better air mobility. So Pikoo decided on another strategy."

"Liepard, now lets set up our winning combo. Use Torment!" Pikoo said as the Liepard began to speak more chatter. However this time, the tone of Liepard's chatter was much more negative and devious than when it used Encore just a little while before.

"Using Encore to limit you to one move and then using Torment to prevent you from using it. Behold my Liepard Lock!" Pikoo said as he smiled confidently, his plan completed.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyMon May 05, 2014 11:36 pm

Jay said nothing as Pikoo set up his seemingly impossible to beat strategy. Instead her mind was whirling with ideas and ways she could try and make this work, maybe even work to her advantage. Despite the Torment however, Arietta still had the Peck move that she had neglected to use. With a small smile, Jay called up to the Fletchling.
"Like a firefly, Arie!" she called up to the Tiny Robin Pokemon. Though this command was vague to the audience, all was clear for Arietta. Though the Torment and Encore would prevent her from using new moves, if she kept this up she could wait it out until it wore off. Keeping her concentration in check, the Fletchling once again dived towards the Liepard, using her natural speed and aerial mobility to her full advantage. However this time, she zigzagged in random directions, becoming completely unpredictable to her opponent. At the same time, her still crimson glowing beak created a pale red light trail behind her, Jay's command becoming clear. The beak's glow left a trail of light as Arietta flew, inspired by the glowing that the tails of firefly Pokemon like Volbeat and Illumise produce in the dark. The Fletchling would dive towards Pikoo's Liepard only to pull out before a complete strike or a counter could be made, switching direction and diving again in an attempt to confuse the Liepard with what little arsenal she had.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyTue May 06, 2014 12:28 am

Pikoo was surprised that Jay was able to think of this kind of strategy without the ability to use any kind of moves. He had also underestimated the small bird Pokemon's mobility, seeing it zip around in the sky with a red trail behind it. This "firefly" tactic as Jay called was a really effective maneuver that utilized the Flechlings mobility very well while making the pokemon look good in the process. However, Pikoo's Liepard was able to keep up with it's movements, thank's to it's keen eyes.

"That's a nice trick, but it's nothing that I can't counter. Liepard, use Shadow Claw!" Pikoo said as the Liepard then jumped up high in the air near the Flechling while a large, dark purple shadow surrounded its claw. The Liepard then thrusted the Shadow Claw at the Flechling, attempting to deal some damage.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyTue May 06, 2014 1:18 am

"Loop-de-loop!" called Jay as the Liepard leaped into the air. Though the Liepard could easily follow Arietta's movements with it's keen eyesight, it had no way to predict the direction in which she would go next. The air and sky was her domain and her opponent was the intruder. The Liepard's leap was controlled, but Arie had free movement up in the air, whereas a Liepard would have to land in order to change the area in which it could move freely.
Neatly dodging the Shadow Claw with another zig zagging movement, the Fletchling then flew upward in a looping motion, listening to her trainer's guidance. She stayed wide towards the Liepard's front and returned inward from above the feline pokemon, attempting to land a hit where the Liepard's claws could not reach. As she did this she span, creating a spiralling pattern with the red light that was still being produced by her beak.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyTue May 06, 2014 4:32 am

Pikoo had anticipated the Flechling to dodge the Liepard's straight forward attack due to it's excellent air mobility that it had showed off before. It was all according to his plan. Pikoo hadn't told Liepard to use that attack to damage the Flechling. Instead, he used the maneuver to get Jay in a false sense of security. By thinking that he made a tactical error, she then had the Flechling use it's attacking move in a more controlled path instead of zipping around in the air again. This was Pikoo's chance.

"Liepard, now Rolling Shadow Ball Formation!" Pikoo said as the Liepard then curled itself into a ball like shape before rolling forward like a ball. The dark purple shadow of Liepard's Shadow Claw began to surround it while it was in this ball shaped form, not only giving the Liepard's body a purple glow but it also made the pokemon's body look like a Shadow Ball attack. This circular form allowed Liepard to fall to the ground faster, but when it did, the Liepard extended it's tail out for a split second to hit the ground and propel the pokemon upward before returning to the ball form. Liepard then rocketed upwards toward the Flechling that was racing towards it before, attempting to overpower the Peck with this move.

Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyTue May 06, 2014 2:21 pm

Rolling forward, the Liepard dodged Arie's attempted strike from behind, however as it propelled itself back up into the air, Jay found herself confused as to Pikoo's intentions as the Fletchling would once again easily dodge this rolling move as she had done the singular Shadow Claw. Nevertheless, it did look impressive.

"Alright, run rings around that Liepard!" Jay called out as the feline creature propelled itself back up into the air with it's scythe-like tail appendage. Arietta did as Jay guided, circling the Liepard's attack with her light trails. The Fletchling would weave in and out as she flew around the leopard-esque pokemon, weaving in behind the Liepard only to weave out when it came to pass that she was positioned where claws could strike. Arie was once again showing her near-flawless aerial manoeuvrability and at the same time she seemed to almost mock Pikoo's attempts as she sped up, faster and faster as she circled. Upon weaving inward, occasionally it would almost appear to siphon off some of the dark purple energy that surrounded the Liepard as it rolled, giving Arie's light trails a deeper crimson colour with a hint of the ghost move's purple. As the Liepard continued to move upwards following propelling itself with it's tail, Arie's circles became faster and faster until she was almost invisible as she span, the only clue to her presence being the bright crimson trails she left in her wake. As she had accelerated, she had broken through the metaphorical barrier that Pikoo's Liepard had forced upon her with Encore, to use Quick Attack. Her naturally fast flying movements only became faster with the regaining of her other moves.
"Zig zag again!" called Jay, Arietta understanding her trainer's intentions. Using the newly created combination of Peck and Quick Attack, Arie zigzagged randomly around the Liepard in her firefly formation with newfound speed and once again attacked from different angles. This time however, she aimed for her hits to land, each one aiming to land within a few second of each other as the Fletchling once again took advantage of her bird-like nature.

PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyTue May 06, 2014 3:34 pm

Pikoo saw the Flechling dodge the rolling shadow ball as easily as it had avoided the other attack. However, Pikoo always had a backup plan or two up his sleeve. Through the process of propelling Liepard in the air with it's tail, Pikoo had set up another combo move that he was sure would work in dealing damage, while looking dazzling in the process.

"Now Liepard, Shadow Rain." Pikoo said as the Liepard then uncurled itself from the ball like from it was in, the pokemon's body surrounded by a the purple, shadow like aura that made Liepard look like a phantom of some kind. Then the Liepard began to use Fury Swipes, the claws of the pokemon extending and glowing white with the shadowy aura making the claws take on a light purple color. Then the Liepard began slashing the air with it's claws, resulting in the shadows on the claws getting launched off with each slash. This resulted in a storm of purple shadow blasts to rain down from the sky, covering practically any escape route, hence the name Shadow Rain.

PostSubject: Re: Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo   Rinko Test Contest: Jay vs. Pikoo EmptyTue May 06, 2014 3:52 pm

"Use Quick Attack to dodge it!" called Jay, easily thinking of a counter for the move with her pokemon's much superior speed. Already at ridiculous speeds, the Fletchling darted around like a hyperactive flying squirrel, her crimson trail creating quite the light show through the shadowy 'rain', her body once again becoming tinted with the purple colour in places as she sped past. Breaking free from the rain, Arietta then flew upwards to where the 'rain' had ready fallen, clearing the air. She began spinning as she flew upwards, her light trail now an alternating spiral of purple and red. With the Liepard still in the air, Jay called out to Arie once more.
"Overheat version two!" she cried. Coming to a peak, Arietta looped around once more, her belly facing the sky as she switched direction, flying back downward. She then continued spinning as she hurtled towards Liepard once more, parting her beak as she flew and releasing a concentrated blast of fire that sped towards the Liepard like a beam.
