Rinko Test Contest! - RP Thread

As it says in the title, this is the actual RP thread for this. Any in character stuff for the test will take place here.

Now, all of the participants will have sorted their teams and the like out now and we are finally ready to announce the actual contest conditions!

The contest type will be Single, meaning one Pokemon will be used in the appeals round and one pokemon will be used in each of the battle rounds. Remember that you don't have to use all 3 of your chosen Pokemon, but they're there if you do decide to.

Behind the stage, the young Savato was waiting, his first contest about to begin.
His three Pokémon, Seadra, Munna and Bayleef  hanging from his belt in their Pokéballs.
Anxiously the four of them awaited the time, the teenager's name would be announced to step out in front of thousands of people.
And finally the time had come.

"Please welcome our next contestant, Savato Ponybringer!", the host announced, eliciting polite clapping from the audience.
Slowly the boy walked forward, nervously clutching the orb his Seadra was contained in.

As he reached his designated position, the boy silently tossed the Pokéball into the air, causing it to spin a few times in midair before releasing a Seadra in a flash of rainbow-coloured light.

Appeal Starts:

Quickly the Water type began the practiced routine by rapidly spinning in place, creating a Twister in the middle of the arena, the Seadra in its center.
Shortly thereafter it used the attack Water Gun directly into the twister, causing the water to be transported high into the air, where it remained as a swarm of tiny droplets of water, kept aloft by the wind below them.
A Bubblebeam soon followed, causing a ring of bubbles to surround the levitating water.
Now it was time for the true appeal to begin. Hopefully this corepiece would impress the judges enough.
"Okay, now!", Savato shouted.
The Seadra immediately responded by sending out a rainbow-coloured Aurora Beam straight up into the air in the middle of the Twister.
Further up, this icy beam caused the centermost water droplets to freeze, creating tiny prisms in the air. Then suddenly the Seadra's body was gleaming with a silvery shine, using the move Flash Cannon to send a bright beam of light towards the ceiling, following the trail of the Aurora Beam.
When it reached the ice crystals, the light was broken into the colours of the rainbow, sent out into the surrounding area. There it was captured by the clear bubbles and water droplets, broken and redirected further.
The light was reflected further and further, thousands of small rainbows jumping through the air. As the sinking water and bubbles were caught by the Twister and sent up again, the Seadra kept using its attacks to ensure for the spectacle to keep on.
Furthermore another Water Gun, Aurora Beam and Flash cannon were fired into the circling winds themselves, coating them in a rainbow-coloured shine as well.
More bubbles the Seadra used to coat the floor of the arena in a layer of reflecting membranes, extending the bright spectacle through the entire building.
While bright shines illuminated arena and audience alike, Savato began to notice their time to slowly but surely be running out.
A snap of his fingers was used to signal the Seadra to end their performance.
The Pokémon in question responded by creating more twisters, sending showers of water, bubbles and rainbows into the audience.
Almost immediately thereafter a single Smoke Bomb was utilized, darkening the arena itself.
While the light from outside cast colourful shadows onto the black cloud, Savato and the Seadra were secretly preparing inside.
As the smoke disappeared, one could see the two of them standing in the middle of the arena, bowing as the gong signaling the end of their time rang.

Three Pokemon: Skiddo, Rattata, Palpitoad

The crowd murmured among themselves as the next contestant was announced. Once the announcer was finished, a trainer on a rather energetic skiddo bounded out from behind some curtains. The skiddo gave a cheerful bleat before stopping at the area coordinators give their orders from, and the trainer dismounted the skiddo, after a quick bow, the timer buzzed its beginning.

Appeal:

The performance began quickly as the trainer tossed out a round red pokeball to the field, the ball began to open in a flash of red and blue light and unleash a small purple rat like creature who began the performance with the word of the trainer. Rattata darted forward, its body enveloped in a white light as it grew faster, running in a circle until the light appeared to be a ring of bright white.
"Flame Wheel!" came the order, causing the white light to suddenly erupt into a ring of red flames, "Double team!", another order was shouted as the ring began to spread off into even more rings within a bigger one. The movements became slower and the flames turned to balls of fire as the doubles of the rattata continued the circle motion without the speed of the quick attack.
The rattata then appeared to run together as they seemed to form back into one rattata, who was still ablaze from the Flame Wheel.
Crackles of dark energy began to form around the rattata's jaw as the rattata took a leap and seemed to grab onto its tail as it began to roll around, the flames growing darker thanks to the dark energy of the Crunch attack which thankfully the Rattata managed to avoid harming its own tail on. The flames suddenly went from growing darker to growing whiter as the quick attack seemed to resume once more, except this time the rattata seemed to leap high into the air once it stopped itself from spinning and whipped its tail around, causing the flames to pulsate in a ring that did not set things on fire due to careful control of the swing and the flames went out before it could reach anything they could destroy. The rattata landed on the ground with a single hand and turned itself so it would land on all four legs instead of its side. The buzzer sounded, and the performance ended.

Behind the contest stage where other coordinators were going through their appeal rounds, another coordinator by the name of Pikoo was awaiting his own performance. The excitement of the cheering crouds outside was infectious as he could feel his own anticipation for his appeal round growing inside of him. He could finally show off his abilities in the field of coordinating alongside his three pokemon, Roserade, Espurr, and Liepard. As he heard his name called, Pikoo walked onto the stage with a bright smile on his face before pulling out his pokeball.

“Alright Roserade, time to shine!” Pikoo said as he threw the pokeball out into the air. His round had begun.

Appeal Start:

Out of the ball came a Roserade surrounded by a flurry or rainbow colored stars.

“Now Roserade, spin and use Poison Sting.” Pikoo said to his pokemon as the Roserade began to spin at an incredible speed before launching several small purple darts out in multiple directions, each one hitting one of the many rainbow colored stars surrounding it. After getting hit by the Poison Sting, each of the starts exploded, the remains of the stars surrounding the Roserade with a marvelous array of multicolored light as it landed onto the ground.

“Hehe, and that was just the opening act. Now lets really dazzle them. Roserade, now use Grassy Terrain.” Pikoo said as the Roserade began to focus for a second before a flood of lushes green grass began to cover the stage.

“Now use Sweet Scent.” Pikoo said as the Roserade then began releasing a bright yellow mist onto the stage that spread it’s way around the whole stadium. The yellow mist floated through the lushes grass of the Grassy Terrain, giving it a shimmering glow that made it seem as if they were powered by some sort of electrical device. The mist also shined on Roserade as well, giving the grass pokemon a shine all it’s own, especially around it’s amber red eyes.

“Brilliant Roserade, now use Magical Leaf.” Pikoo said as the Roserade then began to spin again, similar to how it did when it used Poison Sting. However, instead of shooting out small purple darts, the Roserade fired out several green energy leaves that flew through the air quickly. Their flight seemed to rip through the sparkling dust of the Sweet Scent, the glow of the dust sticking to the glowing energy leaves, creating a shining light of green and orange that spread throughout the air.

“Now it is time for a show stopping finale with Dazzling Gleam!” Pikoo said as the Roserade then jumped into the air as a bright ray of light began to surround it. That light soon expanded across the entire stadium, engulfing everything around it, including the Magical Leaves which after being engulfed explodes like fireworks into a dazzling glitter of multiply colors that showered the stadium. In the center of it all was Pikoo’s Roserade, basking in the marvelous light, the glitter from the Magical Leaves showering it’s body causing it to glow almost as brightly as the Dazzling Gleam itself.  As the pokemon landed back onto the ground besides Pikoo, the light had dissipated while the rainbow glitter had showered the Grassy Terain, giving it an even more brilliant glow than before. Satisfied by their performance, Pikoo and his Roserade bowed to the audience, their minds in pure bliss at the magnificent performance that they had just done. With that, their appeal round was over.

Acti silently watched the other preformances and selected her three desired Pokemon: Lopunny, Mantyke, and Delphox. She allocated her seals and tried to ease herself. She didn't want to be jittery or nervous.

"Up next, Acti!" the announcer called. She got up from her bench and looked at her first Pokemon she'd use: Delphox. The aspiring coordinatior marched onto the stage, doing her best to hide her excitement -- and anxiety. She felt Delphox's Pokeball expand in her hand, ready to send out when Acti was ready.

"Ooookay, let's do this! Head out, Delphox!" Acti exclaimed, giving the fox's Pokeball a light toss that arched into the air.


The Pokeball landed with a nice bounce, and in a flurry of what seemed to be multicolored flames the Delphox came out and did a courtsey as she landed on the ground, grabbing her stick and twirlling it a bit directly after.

"Fire Mesmer combo!" Acti commanded, and the Delphox instantly went into action. She twirled her stick above her head and floating purple orbs of fire were launched into the air. She used Will-o-Wisp,
but was specially trained to generate wisps of an unnatural color. They floated into the air and hovered there for a bit as the magic fox did a similar twirl, aiming at the ground and using Fire Spin to create a vortex of fire around her. As the violet will-o-wisps fell, they merged with the Fire Spin and gave pretty purple streaks to the ring as it spun.

"Release it!"

With the signal given the Kalosian starter spread out her arms and the ring began to changed and distort intona vase like shape. It began growing farther and farther appart and then was almost instantly snapped back onto its caster in an explosion of tinted smoke. The crowd was silent, wondering what happened, and Acti just smirked, waiting for the last part of the appeal.

Beams of light in pastel colors began to pierce through the smoke. As it cleared, it was revealed that the Delphox used Light Screen to protect herself and the shimmering aura around her that was the screen itself had reflected the attack in a rainbow or light. She twirled her stick around a bit, the tip alight, and tossed it high into the air. She courtseyed again and then caught the branch once it came back down.

Acti smiled and waved her Delphox back to her, and with another courtsey they walked back off the stage, finishing their appeal.

A girl sat quietly behind the stage, waiting as various Contestants filed in and out off the stage, listening as the crowd made several murmurs of approval, even gasps of delight or surprise. Even though she was silent, it was rather obvious that she was anything but calm, her foot tapped rhythmically against the linoleum, making a soft click every time it connected against the ground. She kept glancing at the small hallway which separated the Waiting Area from the Performing Area, before finally the girl took several breaths of air, her will resolute. The girl had her Pokemon with her, a mix of a slightly showy Baltoy (Affectionately named Skylar), a very mischievous Ralts (She eventually decided on Avery for his name although Riley was a close second), and a somewhat aggressive Druddigon (She nicknamed her Jayden). Although the Pokemon often clashed due to their conflicting natures, in a sense, they also balanced each other out.

"Our next Contestant is a young lady named Sakura." A voice called out from the stage. Sakura bit her lip, even though she practiced this part possibly a thousand times, it still made her feel somewhat anxious. However it wouldn't look good if she stalled, so she forced her nerves down her throat and quickly headed towards the stage, "Alright, this is just like us training." she muttered mostly to herself, pulling out Skylar's Pokeball as Sakura pressed the button before throwing it into the air. "Let's put on a show Skylar! Give it all you got!"


The Pokeball spun once, before suddenly with a little pop, a small swirl of beautifully colored music notes surrounded around a Baltoy which spun around in the air.

"Alright, before they disperse, Extrasensory!" Sakura called, and the Baltoy's eyes started to glow a golden hue, and the multicolored notes around the Pokemon were surrounded in a rainbow light. The girl gave a slight nod, glad that it was going well so far, before continuing with the appeal.

"Skylar use Ancient Power and Rock Tomb, and then our Showtime Spotlight special! It's time to reveal all the tricks under our sleeves!" Sakura said excitedly, now that she was actually performing, all her nervousness had drained away into excitement, and it was obvious her energy was infecting Skylar as well, the Baltoy had begun to twirl slowly, as it became encased in a white light, which began to mix with the gold of the Pokemon's eyes and several silver and gold balls of light appeared all over the stadium, as the Music Notes began to rise and surround the orbs in a rainbow mist. They flickered around the stadium, turning the stage into a luminescent sea of color. But what really captured the audience's attention was the huge orb of silver light at the very center, as the light shimmered into transparency a boulder began to take shape bathed softly in the radiance of the room and it's own light.

"...Now." Skylar spun faster and faster, the lights began to mottle against the Pokemon, and a hush filled the air, leaving everyone to hear the telltale crackle of electricity. The Baltoy fired a multicolored Psybeam into the air, and then almost immediately released a Charge Beam, as they mixed together into the air. The two beams hit the Rock Tomb head on, and the orb burst into glimmer of silver, detonating the other spheres.

The soft chimes of the notes filled the air as stage began to shimmer alternating between gold, silver, and rainbow sparkles fluttered down toward Skylar. The Pokemon's spinning slowed, and the glints of light started to disperse away form the Baltoy, being blown away by the slight breeze it made. The Baltoy began to glow slightly as it used Power Trick to reflect off of the last shimmers of light. They soon faded and Skylar allowed the light around it to disappear as well as it took one last spin and made an unmistakable bow alongside it's trainer, and floating by Sakura's side they headed off the stage.


Once Sakura stepped off the stage, she released the breath she didn't know she was keeping. It was executed perfectly, luckily but she still worried that it wouldn't be enough to make it into the Battle Rounds, and once she got there, she knew how unpredictable it could be. Skylar sensing it's trainer's anxiousness nuzzled her and gave a reassuring chirp. Sakura smiled with thanks. 'We are going to make it.' She thought determinedly giving the two unused Pokeballs a reassuring pat. 'And if we don't....They are other Contests anyways.' the girl smiled with new found strength and sat down waiting for the results.

• Two out of three judges explicitly mentioned that Seadra itself was rather overshadowed by the moves it used within it's appeal as it was always at the centre of them and as such could not be seen by the audience. This hindered the appeal's full potential and little of the actual appeal was focused on the Pokemon it was supposed to be showing off.
  
• Nevertheless it was clear that Seadra was a skilled pokemon and judges have been quoted saying it was 'creative' and one judge 'particularly enjoyed that the light reflected off of the floor' and not just that which had been created within the twister.

• A couple of judges can be quoted that they were concerned that the constant use of Flame Wheel overshadowed Rattata with it's own moves within the appeal, however it did serve to show off it's skill with said move. One judge also felt that the use of Double Team for purely multiplication wasn't as creative as it could have been.
  
• Two out of three judges appreciated that this appeal chose not to focus on a rainbow of colour, but one colour, making a refreshing change from the other appeals and made for a very good use of Rattata's limited moveset.

• The main negative comments related to this appeal were that it's climax used a rainbow interpretation of the Colour theme, like most of the appeals seen here. However comments were also made that the use of Poison Sting as nothing other than damaging projectiles did not feel very creative
  
• Unlike most other appeals however, Roserade was never overshadowed by her moves and they all complemented her and each other almost perfectly throughout. One judge said 'Roserade is always the center of attention, as she should be, showing off her skill' whilst another one commented that 'the move use was very good, showing off several of the Pokemon's moves plus the Pokemon's skills, all the while keeping the Pokemon in plain view. The third judge shared much the same sentiments with their comment; 'Roserade is a beautiful, colorful Pokemon naturally, and it was refreshing to see that the trainer emphasized this.'

• Summing up a consensus among two of the judges, one judge stated 'the entire appeal, though showing off the Delphox's wonderful skill, was overshadowing the Pokemon.' Both Fire Spin and Smokescreen served only to hide Delphox's presence from the audience and one judge also made a point of saying that it would have been hard for the audience to realise that it was Delphox's skill manipulating the shape of the Fire Spin as Delphox herself cloud not be seen from within the vortex.
  
• Move use was creative and original for the most part and one judge voiced their appreciation for the red and purple fire technique orchestrated at the very beginning of the appeal.

• One judge voiced concerns that the appeal didn't really feel like it interpreted the theme until the very end of the appeal. Another felt that Power Trick didn't particularly add anything unique or important to the appeal and that it could have done without it.
  
• One judge in particular seemed to feel that Baltoy was not obviously overshadowed by large displays of it's own moves and as a result was more easily able to demonstrate it's skill whilst remaining the center of attention, though this was disputed by another. Another judge commented that they enjoyed the use of music within the appeal however.

• It came to the judges attention that an interpretation of the Colour theme with the use of rainbows was all too common, and thus many appeals were brought down by the less than unique idea of it.
  
• Many appeals also contained some form of spinning, and although used creatively and in different ways, at least one judge felt like the idea became overused over the course of the appeals.

With the winners of the appeals decided I can now tell you who will be facing each other in the battle round as decided by a randomiser!



For the purposes of this test, each of your battles will be modded in a different way. Acti and Sav, your battle will go about how the original titanpad describes; you'll battle for 3 pages and judges will keep track along the way, keeping your score and intervening if someone's score goes down to zero. If no one's score goes down to zero, the results will be announced after the three pages have been completed.

Pikoo and Kat, your battle will go about a bit differently. Instead of the method detailed above, each of you will post your moves and then a mod will post saying how these moves/combinations etc. affect each other and detail roughly how many points were lost by each co-ordinator in that 'turn'. Other than that the battle will go on as normal, though you will go on for four pages so you have roughly the same amount of posts as the other pair and the mod's presence and posts don't take from that.

As a side note, the battles will take place in a separate thread from this one, which one of the judges will make. I'll probably end up doing it when you're ready to start. Once a thread is made i'll link it above where it says who is against who. The person making the first move will be decided by a randomiser and will be revealed with the posting of the battle thread.
