An Unexpected Reunion

A young Budew quietly made her way through the pleasant forest. It was quite a sunny afternoon and the sun's rays, as well as giving her near endless reserves of energy, felt warm on the leaves of her body. It felt like she had been walking for hours, but the constant movement didn't seem to take any toll on the Budew in the bright daylight.
Vesper kept walking until she reached a small clearing among the trees. With a smile, she made her way to the centre of a group of trees before looking up through the canopy of the trees at the vast blue expanse that was the sky. She felt right at home in this sunny, charming forest, even the natives not paying much attention to her presence.

Looking up at the area the Budew had indicated, the Oshawott smirked, nodding back to Vesper as she walked over.
"Perfect. I figure you'll be able to blend in at the bottom of the tree?" She responded with her question being more of a statement, grabbing her scalchop and digging it into the tree bark. Pulling herself up onto it, she hopped up to the next branch, grabbing onto it with her paws and pulling herself up into the leaves. Ava grabbed her scarf, untying it before tying a loop around it, swinging it down to her shell and pulling tight, closing the loop around the embedded scalchop before pulling it free and back up to her. Well, that was easy. She thought to herself, placing her shell back onto her front and tying the scarf around her, keeping her eyes out for the Ledyba coming into the area.

"Definitely!" grinned Vesper who had already made her way over to the undergrowth and had begun to try and locate a suitable position where she could hide, see the surrounding area and look up into the tree in order to communicate with Avaria. She found such a position with ease, blending in quite nicely with the environment; the benefits of being a plant.
As the humming from the Pokemon's wings grew louder, Vesper glanced up into the tree before returning her gaze to the area they had previously been standing in. A Ledyba flew into the area carrying another seed, a blast seed to be exact. The Budew watched as the Ledyba flew around the area, as if trying to decide where to hide it's seed only to realise that most of the items it had already collected had disappeared.

Another Blast Seed? Well, it's not much, but I'll take it. Avaria stayed silent, not moving from her position in the tree as to not make any noise. She watched the Ledyba fly into the area, and had to stifle a chuckle as it found that its items weren't where it had left them before. Alright, now let's see how we can take care of this. We could go quietly, see if we can pick it off of it, or we could knock it out of the air. That Blast Seed I picked up earlier would do the trick... The Oshawott pulled the Blast Seed out of her back, holding it and looking down at Vesper, gesturing a throwing motion to see what she her thoughts were on the plan.

The Budew remained still and quiet in the undergrowth as the Ledyba searched for it's items and wound up disappointed that they were not there. She kinda felt bad for the guy, he just looked so confused, but on the other hand, she and Ava were up by three seeds and an orb so she wasn't about to complain.
Glancing up to the Oshawott, Vesper realised she was trying to communicate with her. Quickly getting the meaning behind the throwing gesture, the Budew nodded gently, being sure not to disturb the surrounding plantlife too much with her movement so she didn't attract the Ledyba's attention.

Turning back to the Ledyba, Ava held the seed in her paw, keeping a gentle and firm grasp on it as she watched, waiting for the perfect moment to throw it. As it hovered around the area, searching for its lost items and making its way closer to the tree, the Oshawott pulled back, throwing the seed directly on top of it. The seed erupted in a powerful blast, the force sending the Ledyba directly to the ground. The blast made the tree branch sway and shake, making her nearly lose her balance. Looking down from the branch, Ava began to climb down from the tree, throwing her shell into the tree bark to help her get down, hopping to the ground before turning back and prying her scalchop out of the tree.

Vesper watched as Avaria precisely aimed the seed and followed it's trajectory with her eyes as the Oshawott finally threw it. The Blast Seed got a direct hit and the seed exploded on the Ledyba's back leaving the creature in shock for a moment and a few black scorch marks on the pokemon's shell-like exoskeleton that would likely brush off with time.

Vesper, taking advantage of the Ledyba's temporary shock, quickly darted out from the bushes. Using a quick manoeuvre, she rolled the Blast Seed that the Ledyba had been holding out of it's grasp. The Budew poked her tiny yellow foot under the seed and flicked it into the air, opening her bud in the sunlight and catching the seed within so that it was more convenient to carry.

Huh, nice. That worked fairly well. The Oshawott thought as she stepped out towards Vesper, impressed by her ease of getting the seed from the Ledyba so soon. Thankfully, the Pokemon hadn't dropped its blast seed when she threw hers, that would have been an issue.
"Great, now let's get out of here, shall we?" Ava suggested to Vesper in a slight whisper, starting to run off the way the Ledyba had come, looking back to make sure that Vesper was with her. She didn't want to accidentally lose the Budew, as much as she didn't like to admit any friendship or closeness with anyone she did feel a sense of friendliness with her.

Feeling rather confident in her own abilities, the Budew grinned to Avaria and made a gesture that seemed almost like a nod, "Sounds like a plan!" she replied quietly, though the enthusiasm was still evident in her voice. Quickly following the Oshawott, Vesper caught up with her friend, still carrying the Blast Seed in her bud. With a smile, she then continued to run, surprisingly fast for a Pokemon who's feet looked like yellow triangular stubs.

As they ran off, the Ledyba began to recover from the attack, weakened but angered. How could they just waltz on in and take its items? Those items belonged to it, and not some random pokemon taking it as easy pickings, they weren't theirs. The humming of wings could be heard behind as Ava kept running. Sounds like it's not giving up that easily. Figures, just adds to the fun of it. As she kept running a Hoothoot jumped into their path, standing in the way of the two escaping Pokemon. The owl Pokemon had a pecha berry clutched in its single set of talons, looking angered at the two thieves.

Vesper continued running until the Hoothoot dropped down in front of them, blocking their path forward. Quickly coming to a halt she could also hear the tell tale signs of the Ledyba from before getting closer, the humming of it's insectoid wings growing louder by the second.
"Something tells me these two don't appreciate us taking their stuff," commented Vesper with a small grin. The Hoothoot didn't seem to appreciate the Budew's stating of the obvious, and seemed to take a moment to consider what it was going to do, stepping slowly closer as if hoping to intimidate the two thieves.
Blinking, Vesper watched the Hoothoot for a moment before she hopped upwards once, the Blast Seed being tossed upwards into the air. The Budew then closed the bud that it had previously been carried in and in one quick movement punted the Blast Seed towards the bird.

"I think that's an accurate guess." The Oshawott spoke as she sped up in a sprint, catching up to Vesper and moving past her, continuing to run. Definitely not intimidated and not stopping, Ava vaulted over the Hoothoot, using its head as placement for her paws as she jumped over it, landing on the other side and rolling back to a standing position. Turning with her scalchop now in her paw, she watched as the Budew punted the Blast Seed at the Pokemon, hitting the surprised Hoothoot dead-on. The blast knocked it off of its talons, sending it back towards the Oshawott. Showing a slight smirk, Ava jumped slightly, a dark hue coming off of her shell as she slashed downwards, knocking the owl Pokemon to the ground with a Night Slash.
"Nice job there." She complimented Vesper as she walked back over to the Budew, watching as the Ledyba flew into the area, and the Hoothoot began to stand back up, weakened but still not down.
"Ready for round two?" Ava asked her friend with a smirk, scalchop at the ready as she glanced around at the two hostile Pokemon.

"Thanks!" grinned the Budew before she turned around and looked to the approaching Ledyba.
"Either way, I don't think we really have much of a choice," Vesper replied to her friend with a shrug and a determined smile as the Ledyba quickly caught sight of their position. Not even waiting to draw closer before attacking, it used Psybeam, the pink beam of energy speeding towards the two. Vesper however, knew how to counter it. Without even hesitating, the Budew hopped forwards a few steps and used Extrasensory, a move she had inherited from her Shiftry father. The beam appeared to be partially golden in colour, with lines of other colours strewn through it. With the beams colliding and negating each other, Vesper quickly made her next move, her bud bursting open and releasing long tendrils of green that wrapped themselves around the Ledyba's form.

Avaria gave a short chuckle at Vesper,s response, keeping her eye on the Hoothoot. The Budew was handling herself fairly well, and that made the Oshawott confident enough to put all her focus on the other pokemon.
"It seems that w-" As she began to speak, her words instantly cut off in a gargling noise, managing to surprise even her as a jet of water was shot out of her mouth, firing into the Hoothoot and knocking it back down once more as she used Water Gun, inadvertently at least, for the first time. Ava paused for a moment, a look of confusion on her face that screamed 'what the hell' present to hide any slight embarrassment she had. The Hoothoot got back up, and hopped at her quickly, beak glowing as it used Peck. She quickly raised her scalchop, deflecting the attack with it as she held it in front of her, shell glowing an ominous black coloring as Ava slashed outward, landing another Night Slash.

Vesper blinked as Avaria's words were cut off, glancing back at the Oshawott to see what had happened. The Budew hid the small chuckle that arose from the situation to spare Ava's feelings of embarrassment, luckily she them became occupied by the Hoothoot's recovery and subsequent Peck attack.
Vesper meanwhile, having been distracted by Ava's unorthodox learning of Water Gun had neglected to notice the Ledyba breaking through the tendrils of her Absorb attack to use Tackle. Just as she turned her attention back to the Five Star Pokemon, it's attack hit it's mark and both Vesper and the Ledyba were propelled across the area by the force of the Tackle. As they landed, the Ledyba got up and flew back as if to retreat before planning it's next move.
Getting back to her feet, Vesper narrowed her eyes at the Ledyba before using Extrasensory once more, a golden orb appearing in front of the Budew before emitting the same beam of coloured psychic energy as before.
As she emitted this beam of energy, her body began to glow with a bright white light.

Watching as the Hoothoot went down, the Oshawott turned, watching as the Ledyba tackled Vesper, knocking the two of them away. She wanted to go over and help out, but hesitated, reminding herself that the Budew did have experience with this sort of thing. She could take care of herself, and Ava could finish her part. Dashing towards the downed Hoothoot, for good measure she slashed upwards with her scalchop, knocking the owl pokemon into the bushes, hoping the final attack would keep it down. With that taken care of, she turned to Vesper, starting to run over but halting as the Budew began to glow, holding her paw over her eyes. What the-oh, she's evolving, isn't she? The Oshawott smirked, opening her eyes slightly and squinting them to see how it was going.
