Find that Sister!

Acro wandered into the forest after having a look at his paper, he was supposed to find a caterpie that was supposedly lost in Shadowhue after wandering in. He wondered why a simple caterpie would come to such an advanced dungeon, after all this place was teeming with strong pokemon. Though not as strong as the pokemon in places like Mt. Frostmeer, or Black Mist Moutain, thought Acro. The archen looked at the paper, he was supposed to do the mission with another team. Who is it? he wondered.

After Acro's attack, William had lost both Flying types between the stones, that were littering the area, floating around as he tried to find them.  Suddenly he heard something jump on one of the rocks. Immediately turning around, the Gastly readied another Confuse Ray and prepared to launch it...only to see, that the Pokémon he was aiming at was Acro and aborting the attack at the last second. A confused Acro was one of the last things William would like to imagine, so he sighed in relief as he realized his mistake. What the Gastly didn't realize however, was the Taillow sneaking up behind him...

Acro was clueless as to where the taillow was, but he searched the rocks. He thought he would see the taillow from here, but a ball of gas that was William blocked his site.
The taillow smirked before its beak glowed and grew larger. It leaped up to use Peck attack on the unsuspecting ghastly, not waiting to see if it had damaged the pokemon it darted at the Archen and used Quick Attack. Acro was knocked off of his rocky perch, and the taillow disappeared into the mess of rocks and undergrowth once more.

Hit by the Peck attack, William was knocked right into the rock the Archen was standing on. Reemerging from the boulder, the Gastly knew, that he had to find the Taillow quickly as the two of them would certainly be on the recieving end of an ambush otherwise. But where could it be?
Once again William would facepalm, would he have the hands for it. He could float after all!
Immediately the Ghost type ascended until he could spot the bird. Since Smog would endanger his partner as usual, William restricted himself to firing another Confuse Ray at the Normal type.

Acro was surprised when the gastly suddenly flew inside the rock he had been standing on, but understood when the taillow was struck with the confuse ray. Acro began to glow purple once more and the rocks in the area were lifted once more. Dirt fell from the rocks that had clung to it, and he launched the rocks at the taillow. The pokemon was struck with several of them, but avoided most. The bird screeched as it was pushed back from the force of the collisions, and hadn't noticed that it had fallen into a bush and cut the string of silk that bound it. The taillow screeched and began to flail about, hoping to hit something.

As both William and Acro were rather far away from the confused bird, its attack didn't have the slightest beneficial effect. However, William was running out of effective attacks to use, so there wasn't much he could do but float in the air and hope for this to be over as soon as possible.
Why did so many Pokémon have to be Normal types? And why were they immune to Ghost type attacks? Were they somehow unable to feel sadness, hate or fear? No, there had to be another reason, although William couldn't see it.
Why were they immune to attacks of sadness and despair?
The Gastly envied them.

Acro decided to put the small bird out of its misery. The Archen's tail glowed a bright grey color has it hardened and became affected by his using of Iron Tail. He darted over to the Taillow and collided with it in a twirl. The taillow screeched as it was flung into a tree and knocked out.
"So, do you think it encountered Caterpie?" Acro asked once again, "It seemed like it was weaker than normal taillow, so maybe it fought with the caterpie?" He looked at the taillow and felt kind of bad for it, maybe it was just scared after all!

"I doubt it. It is probable, that it fought with something, but the exact species is unknown. There are a lot of bugs in this forest and I do believe, that the Caterpie wouldn't put up much of a fight. It most likely was another, stronger Bug type. In any case just standing here isn't going to help us. We should continue onwards now."
This would be taking a long time. The Shadowhue Forest was huge, the Caterpie would be difficult to find and might run away from them while they didn't have the slightest clue, where it might be.
If only the other Pokémon wouldn't be that agressive...

"True..."
Acro was a bit disappointed that he had forgotten about the other bug pokemon in this area. He frowned and looked at the battle ground where he had thrown rocks and boulders all over the place. He wondered if he was a bit too reckless in his fighting. He could have seriously hurt William since the attack was rock type, right? The Archen shook the thought out of his mind but it kept coming back to haunt him. The Archen followed the Gastly and asked, "Do you think she could have gone very far, the caterpie that is?"

"I hope not, but there is the possibility of her running away from other Pokémon and reaching deeper parts of the area in the process. I'm afraid we'll have to search the entire forest, but I think we can rule the parts out, from which the edge of the forest can be seen. If she were there, she would probably have run out of here by herself already."
Even though William kept pushing the thought out of his mind again and again, it couldn't be denied, that the Caterpie most likely was in serious danger at this very moment. Acro and the Gastly needed to find her quickly...and even more importantly before anyone else did...

"Ah..."
Acro did not know what else to say to this. It was true that they had to hurry. What if a pidgey or a taillow was picking on the poor wrumple right now? Acro picked up the pace a bit and kept up with the floating ghost pokemon. He would have called out the caterpie's name, but it might attract unwanted attention. It would be best to just listen for the caterpie, or would the caterpie keep quiet on purpose...just how were they supposed to find this thing!? Acro began to panic a bit, what if they were too late? What if they never found it because it was eaten?

"So I'd say we should continue searching right now."
Without even waiting for a response from Acro, William had already begun to float slowly further into the forest, looking all around as he tried to spot the missing Bug type. If William would be a small bug, where would he hide? No, that idea wasn't going to work. The Gastly's mind had been influenced by his ability to float through walls enough, that he couldn't even think of a normal place to hide anymore!
So he would have to use the default strategy of "Look everywhere - find target - why haven't I thought of this sooner?" once again...this was going to be an exhausting mission.
Why coudn't Pokémon get lost in the Small Pond or something in that direction?

Acro searched in the trees, he leaped through the branches quickly. It was almost as if he were swimming in the leaves. He shook each branch he landed on and rained leaves down upon the forest floor below, showering and covering it. The archen soon abandoned the trees and began to search the ground, darting through the bushes and checking under tree roots, old fallen trees, hallow logs, and even under rocks. He stopped to take a slight rest as he decided to try listening instead of looking, maybe he would hear a cry of some sort. He heard a cry, but not a caterpie's...

The Gastly had been far too absorbed in his searching of the undergrowth to notice any cry; neither a Caterpie's nor an Exploud's. At least it was impossible for him to hurt himself on the many thorny plants in the area. Another Pokémon would definitely have been bleeding at this point and the smell of blood could have attracted even more vicious Pokèmon than those the duo would have to face anyways.
And then it hit the Gastly once again. The Caterpie wasn't a Ghost type! She wouldn't be in those thorns! William was forced to realize again how egocentrical he had been. Was his whole train of thought really focussed on himself? Slightly depressed, William felt his level of attention lower.

Acro was surprised to find that a reviver seed was hidden under a rock. He flipped the rock completely over with a grunt of effort and picked up the seed. This seed was supposed to revive any pokemon in a time of crisis. The Archen put it in his bag and turned to see an angry looking roselia staring at him with its roses on its hips and it seemed to glare daggers at him. The archen backed up out of the bush as the roselia advanced.
"W-William?" he spoke as the roselia seemed to sprout a seed in it's red rose. Before he could run, the pokemon shot the seed at him. The seed exploded into vines that wrapped around the Archen, and lead to the roselia's right rose. It was Leech Seed!

William was busy wallowing in self-pity, so it took him quite some time to actually react to the Archen's cry, turn around and understand the situation at hand. When he finally realized it, he jolted out of his trance-like state, focussing the self-pity he had created himself just a moment ago, formed it into a blackish blob and launched the resulting Shadow Ball at the Roselia.
Those little things could be annoying fighters and the Gastly knew that. One of them had poisoned another dear friend of his once. So while they were of almost no danger to him, he knew, that they were not to be trifled with.
For some unknown reason, William felt, that this very moment would have a large impact on his very existence...
