I woke up about an hour ago. Couldn't get back to sleep, so I figured I'd start writing my trainer journal. To think that less than an hour, me and Ellie will have our very own Pokemon. I'm thinking of getting a Totodile; they seem so awesome! And they handle themselves very well in combat too. I know Eleanor will probably want a Cyndaquil, so I'll also have the pleasure of knowing that he'd win every time.
Truth be told, I actually prefer grass Pokemon over Water Pokemon, but Totodile are just awesome compared to that Chickorita Elm gives out. I guess Totodile will have to deal with being in a team of five grass types. Or maybe not; I get the feeling it wouldn't appreciate being the only water type. Whatever; I guess I'll just get whatever I'll get; not much point in thinking too far ahead.


Ryan looked up from his desk, at the alarm clock. Oh damn, it was already 8:02. He had forgotten to set his alarm clock! He breathed a sigh of relief; thank God that he woke up early. He looked back at his journal.

Whoops; I forgot to set my alarm clock; I'm so glad that I woke up early. I'd better get ready and go over to Ellie's place; she might've forgotten like me.

At 8:25, Ryan looked at the door to Eleanor's house.. He was wearing his favorite green T-shirt, a pair of jeans and his sneakers, he had combed his short brown hair and put on his glasses. In addition to this, he had brought a rather large gray backpack consisting of multiple changes of clothes, some essentials like food, some gum, and some playing cards. Oh, and the tent of course. He was ready.
Ryan pressed the doorbell; "Ellie! Are you up?"

Krystal and his unnamed pidgey were being treated along with Ellie's Pokemon, and with nothing better to do, Ryan took out his journal and flipped over to the first empty page (Which was actually just the second page).

Entry 2: 12:30 pm
It's been 4 hours or so since me and Ellie left home. We've already done the chore that Elm gave us; Mr. Pokemon gave us an egg, and the professor wants us to take care of it for him. I kind of wonder what it'll be.
My starter Pokemon is a Totodile, Krystal, and Ellie got a Cyndaquil named Flare. They're both really cool Pokemon, although I'm a bit worried about how aggressive Krystal is when she battles. The two of us also caught a Pidgey each. We still haven't named them, though. Hell, I don't even know if mine's a boy or a girl!
Anyway, we're at Violet City right now. We should probably have lunch soon, and then we're going back to Dark cave to get some more Pokemon. After that, we're taking on Falkner, the Violet City gym leader. He's a flying type specialist, apparently.

Just then, Ryan's stomach growled. Damn, he was hungry. "Hey, Ellie, we should probably get a bite to eat while our Pokemon are being healed. I think Pokemon centers sells some sandwiches. After all, they do rent room out to Pokemon trainers."

"Alright. Sounds like a plan," she smiled. She too was hungry but she hadn't thought of that. She got to her feet and went over to ask.

A few minutes later she sat back down with some tuna, mayo and sweetcorn sandwiches and mulled over the names she had thought up for her Pidgey so far. She had already confirmed it as female, so that was a start.

"So what are you going to name your Pidgey?" asked Ellie before she took another bite of her sandwich.

Ryan swallowed the bit of sandwich in his mouth. "I dunno; haven't really thought about it. I mean, I don't even know it's gender." He paused to take another bite. "I guess maybe "Winger" It's gender neutral, so it won't matter if the pidgey's a guy or a girl, and it would fit, what with it being a flying type. But I don't really know. Krysal's name is based on a type of rock, and maybe I should name the Pidgey after what it's strong against. Y'know, start a trend. Something like "Lily" if it's a girl, or... I can't actually think of a guy's name. But, yeah, what do you think?"

"Sounds cool. Though I still have no idea what I'll name my Pidgey. I know she's female though..."
She frowned before taking another bite of her sandwich. Ellie glanced up at the ceiling as if it would somehow bestow some naming abilities upon her. It didn't and her gaze returned to her food.

Ryan continued to eat his sandwich, still stumped as to what to call his new companion. "Maybe... No, that's stupid..."
"Ryan and Ellie? Your Pokemon have been healed; please pick their balls up at the counter." Ryan nodded and went to the counter, thanking the nurse and gathering all four balls. He passed Ellie's balls to her before looking at his two balls.
"Are we allowed to have Pokemon out here?"
"No, sir; I'm afraid you aren't."
"Thanks, then." And with that, the duo left the Pokemon Center.

Ellie finished the last few bites of her sandwich as Ryan passed her Pokeballs toward her. She got to her feet and swiftly left the Pokemon Centre.

Outside, she immediately let the newly captured Pidgey out of her Pokeball. The Tiny Bird Pokemon fluttered around for a few seconds before landing at Ellie's feet.
"Alright then," she smiled, gently lifting the Pidgey into her arms.
"What do you think of the name Odette?"

The Pidgey tilted her head to the side slightly as she thought about the name. A few moments later she looked up at Ellie.
"Pidgey~"
With a short nod, it appeared that Odette was accepting of her new name.

"Awesome!" grinned Ellie, reaching for Flare's Pokeball.
"Alright Flare. This is Odette!" she grinned after letting the Cyndaquil out of his Pokeball.

"Cynda, Cyndaquil!" (Pleased to meet you, Odette!)

Ryan looked at his own pidgey, who was currently flying around wildly. "Woah, woah, calm down little guy -er, girl... whatever, could you stop for a moment?! I need to name you!"
"PI! PI! GEY PI? PIDGEY!" <HI THERE! HI THERE! ARE YOU MY TRAINER? I LIKE TREES!> It was flying around all over the place, and a few bystanders watched it, amused.
"Gah! Dammit, Pidgey, stop flying around everywhere! By god, you're worse than a hyperactive Pikachu!" Ryan pulled out his pokeball and watched as the little bird was engulfed in red light. "Agh..." He looked down at the shaking Pokeball, unsure of what he would say would be audible inside it. "Look, um... pidgey... I need to name you, alright? So could you please calm down?" The boy sighed and aimed the ball at the floor again. "Well, let's try this again. Come on out."
The pidgey, yet again, emerged from the red light. "PI PI! GEY!" <SHINEY! SHINEY! AWESOME!> Aaaand it immediately started flying around, having not heard what is trainer had said through the Pokeball. Or rather, ignored, seeing as it is possible to hear from inside one's pokeball.
"DAMMIT! Hey, Ellie, could you help me out?"

Ellie had to force herself not to laugh at the sight. It seemed that Ryan had caught the most hyperactive Pidgey ever to grace the planet.
"Uhm..." she thought of a way to try to help but she could do next to nothing other than attempt to talk to it... or attack it.
"Odette?"

The female Pidgey fluttered over to the hyperactive Pidgey. She hovered in the air attempting to talk it into calming down.
"Pidgey? Pi Pi... Pidgey."(Uhm... hello? Could you please... calm down.)
It seemed that Odette wasn't too good at talking to other Pokemon.

"PIPIPIPIPIPIPIPIDGEY!" <HITHEREAREYOUMYNEWFRIENDYOU'REAPIDGEYTOOILIKETREES!> The hyperactive pidgey had stood up in front of "Odette" and started rapidly chirping at the shy little girl. "PIPIPIPIPIPIPIPIDGEY!" <MY NAME IS MATT BUT MY TRAINER DOESN'T KNOW THAT HE'S PROBABLY GONNA CALL ME WINGER OR SOMETHING ILIKETREES!>
Ryan groaned. Well, at least the little guy stopped for a second. "Hey, er, pidgey... I need to name you. Could you please just calm down for a few seconds?" It immediately turned to face it's trainer and started chirping so fast that not even Odette would be able to understand it, let alone humans. "Look, I just need to think of a name, OK? Just nod if you like the name, shake your head if you don't. How about... Winger?" A shake of the head, accompanied by millions of twitches all over the body. "How about... erm... Lily?"
"PIPIPIPIPIPI!!!" <GUYSAREN'TNAMEDLILYTHATWOULDBESTUPID!!!> The hyperactive bird started chirping angrily at his trainer.
"Alright, alright, not Lily. So you're a guy then?" A nod. "What do you think of the name... Toby?" He had run out of ideas ages ago, so Ryan had to resort to completely random names. Names that the little pidgey shook his head to. "Jake? Bob? Simon? Matt?"
Matt. As soon as Ryan said that name, the little pidgey started twitching uncontrollably (Well, more so than usual) and nodded it's head rapidly. Less than a second later, it lost control and tackle hugged Ryan to the ground. "PIPIPI!!!!" <MYNAME'SMATTYES!!!> He chirped happily to his now-unconscious trainer.

The shy little Pidgey winced at the hyperactive Pidgey's louder voice. She fluttered back down towards Ellie and perched on her shoulder, feeling much more comfortable here than near Matt as he had said his name was.

Ellie gently reached up to stroke the birds head feather's calming her down as she watched Ryan name his Pidgey.

Flare sat near Ellie's feet. He tilted his head at the male Pidgey, not as affected by his personality as Odette was. If anything he was more curious about it.

Ellie wandered over to Ryan to help him after the newly(or not so newly) named Matt tackle hugged him and he lost conciousness.

Ryan groaned and rolled over on his side, and Matt immediately flew out of the way. "Oh, man..." A Pokeball fell out of the boy's pocket, and, after a flash of light, a young Totodile emerged.
"Toto." <Hello "Matt"> Krystal smiled at her new companion, and started laughing when he shrieked and flew onto Ryan again. "Totodile!" <Don't be scared of me!>
"PIPIPIPIPIPIDGEPI!!!" <OMIGAWDOMIGAWDYOU'RETHEONEWHOHITME!!!> The bird started chirping loudly at the reptile, still afraid of her after the attack.
"Totodile! Toto Totodile!" <C'mon, don't be scared! I just wanted a new friend!> She frowned before walking over to the pidgey (disregarding her trainer, on whom she was now standing).
"PIPIPIPIPIDGEY!" <OHWELLHITHEREI'MMATTILIKETREES!> The bird immediately flew over to the Totodile, having forgotten his fear of the reptile. "PIDGEY?" <What'syourname?>
"Toto!" <Krystal!>

Below them, Ryan groaned in pain; that tackle attack was painful enough without his Totodile standing on him as well, and that bird chirping madly. "Oh Man..." The boy tried to sit up, accidentally pushing Krystal off of him. "Man, Matt, you're a handful... Oh, Krystal! When'd you get out?" His head turned to Ellie, who was apparently trying to help him. "Oh, hi Ellie..."

"Nice to see you're awake again then Ryan," chuckled Ellie as her fried sat up. She had just been awkwardly crouched next to him wondering what to do as she had no medical training whatsoever.
Odette and Flare just looked at each other, the Pidgey stood next to the Cyndaquil as she had fluttered off of Ellie's shoulder as she had crouched down.
"I hope you don't have too much trouble from Matt," chuckled Eleanor before standing up again and holding her hand out to help Ryan to his feet.
