" Hey let me see that!" Before Virgil knew it his sketch pad was taken from him snatched by the annoying miss Amy Enely. He didn't resist he just let her take the pad and look at his drawing.
" What? Why are you drawing flowers your so gay." She shook her head and tossed his sketch pad back on his desk shuffling off to her group of girls, she couldn't afford to waste her precious free period with a loser like Virgil.
He quickly turned it and kept shading over the complicated design of swirls and leaves and petals. His pencil gliding over the page easily.

Merald tripped over her own feet in fear as she shielded her eyes and started to scream then open them. I'm okay? she thought and opened her eyes. " Mason!! Oh god no Mason!!" She crawled over him her tears streaming down her face all over him. " Your arm!! OH God your arm!!" Her chest felt tight with fear and lost. IT looked bad very bad he may never be able to use it again she thought and it was all her fault!
The monster felt akwardly on it's legs tumbling and twisting in a heap not expecting the boy it flipped over and sprang about until it finally managed itself to it's feet back for the third time into it's pounce position. This time there would be no problems both of the prey's herd was dead it was easy now the weak young or injured that fell behind from the rest.
" No no no no no!" She stumbled away managing onto her feet fleeing from Mason from Virgil. I'm sorry Mason I'm sorry Virgil I'm so sorry She thought she started to wipe her tears but she didn't have the motor skills with the fear to do that and run she tripped and the beast leaped.
She again shielded her eyes. She waited again for the embrace of death and it was no better the second time. But again it never came she opened her eyes she saw someone's leg stretched out above her where the monster would have pounced at her from she turned her head the monster was on it's side sprawled on the ground like it had been batted away. She turned to see her savior. " Virgil?" She whisper but that was impossible he was suppose to be knocked out he still had a nasty cut on the back of his head blood stained his hair making it dark and wet and his eyes weren't opened she noticed. He's, he's not awake. Merald realized wide eyed and wide mouthed.

Through pain induced hazy eyes Mason looked over to the shocking lburry image beset before him. Someone... was standing over what could only be Merry. Whoever they were their leg had shot out and stunned the beast. But of course, Mason couldn't quite comprehend what had happened. Slowly but surely darkness engulfed his vision, and soon the people dissapeared.

She instantly started to crawl away again crawl from the fray be safe she headed towards Mason he was familiar he was safe. She reached him and saw that his eyes had started to close . She started to lightly tap his face pulling his head into her lap. " stay awake Mason stay with me."
Virgil's situation had started to develope more. The beast pounce now Virgil's body had started to go to a strange position it was like an athletic stance you would see in basketball or football but he bounced his weigh to either foot rthymicly like it was too a beat and he was leaning forward slightly as he beats leaped he started to fall backwards even before the creature had reached him, the thing started to slash claws flashing but Virgil easily like the creature fall onto his feet and kicked it up over his head and rolled backwards spinning back on his heels as the beats landed sprawled quite near Mason and Merald.

All that stuff? Yeah, none of that was regitstering with him. At this point at best all he could feel was subtle vibrations of movements and voices. Then his eye shot open a bit when he felt the larger vibration of the beast landing near him. Not only that, but he saw Merry above him. Soemthing almost as strange as Virgils issue, but not quite as bizzare, happened. An adrenilne pumped through him at an unstable rate. It slowed his heart, but quickened his body. It was almost more than adreniline... almost like pure kerosine was fueling him. But there was an immediate side effect. Anger... very... very hot anger. Whatever this was, it was trying to kill them, and for no reason too! In one second such a rage bubbled in him that he jabbed his good arm out and put a vice grip onto the hips of the beast. He squeezed hard, and flung it out with a quick snap of his arm.

The beats whined and cried like a kicked puppy, it started to run to sprint even but tried as it did it hadn't noticed Virgil had moved the instant after he had flung it to stop it from running it tried anyways to juke Virgil and it managed it at first be what looked like Virgil slipping from the things quick cross over was actually how he caught it, one foot only on the ground with a sharp flick of the ankle his whole body launched gliding just above the grass he tackled the beast rolling with it slightly grabbing a tip a spike on it's forehead and snapping it off. the beast lunged but Virgil started to fall again and as it came upon him Virgil quickly and cleanly sliced the knife into the stubby neck of the beats and it fell right on top of him. Like a person put in a trance Virgil's body untensed like he had been knocked out all over again.
" But but Mason." Merald's hands fell onto the place Mason had been lying. He'd got right up and threw the thing the horrible thing that had just taken Virgil down and not only that Virgil had stabbed it's neck easily as easy as slicing a piece of bread. It was unnatural unreal.

Quickly, as soon as it had come, all the energy that in Mason flooded out. Then, like a ragdoll, he fell to the ground in the state he had once been. Thankfully his bleeding had slowed, but he was still pale and horribly hurt. He almost was like a match. Once ignited it burned bright, but after being used it was devoid of anything that onced sparked it.

Merald started slowly over to Mason she knelt down next to him, He was safe he was good! " Thank god the blood stopped." She whispered to herself she started to half drag half carry him he was too big for her to carry fully. She eventually got him to the couch in the living room of his home the parents weren't home thank god. She pushed the hair out from his face his wasn't as long as Virgil's but it wasn't super short either. She started to cry all over again over Mason's body for quite sometime.

Very soon after the blare of sirens could be heard. There must've been dozens of them. Quickly cop cars and ambulances and fire truck smarmed the scene. Luckily the News weren't allowed onto the premises yet. Gurneys were stretched out and they headed for Virgil. They hadn't seen the strange creature they had fought yet. The main center of attention was the collapsed building for now.

Merald after her long moment of tears finally looked out the window they were headed towards Virgil now they were ready to help him. He would be fine, She told herself. The body of the beast has somehow disappeared but she could tell it hadn't walked off Virgil was still clutching the spike he had ripped off it in his hand. IT had only been a few moments of danger Merald knew but as she sat herself in the chair near Mason she couldn't help but nod off into sleep.

A paramedic came through the open door and the first thing he saw was Masons arm. He signaled over to other doctors and then rushed forward. Quickly the room was filled with bustling people. One person was looking Meralds face over for cuts or gashes while a cop started asking her questions.

" What no I have no idea what happened nothing at all I was just headed over to his house to hang out with my friend and then the Earthquake happened and they all got cut up and bruised out of no where." She explained to the officer. She knew she couldn't talk about the monster at all they would think she was crazy and insane. Just leave me alone just go fix everything she wanted to tell him.

"Ok... Let's go call your parents and..." Then everything sort of fell into a blur of activity. Mason went to the ER for his injuries, they were bad, but weren't too serious. They did say however it was remarkable that he didn't die from blood loss or shock. There was no further investigation considering Merry's lie fooled the Police perfectly. Things died down quickly.

As it all soon passed over Merald found herself not even two days latter visiting Mason in the hospital, a get well card and flowers in hand. she made her way threw the white painted walls and white tiled floor she hated hospital they always seemed so unfriendly no matter how much they were meant to help you. She made her way to Mason's room hoping he was up she knocked waiting for him to invite her in.

"Hey." Mason called as an invatation in. The nurse gave him a look but he didn't care. There were visiting hours for a reason right? Why were nurses always bitter? It's always been a strange ironic twist for people that were supposed to help you. His arm was doing better.Sure it was still stitched up and bandaged, but at least it wasn't bleeding half his weight out.

She entered eyeing the nurse instantly trading a woman's silent conversation of loathing for each other she quickly administrated medicine to Mason and left. " man isn't she a witch?" She said half under her breath sitting down next to Mason's bed on a chair. She set her flowers and card down on the bedside table. " How are you doing?" She asked.
