Children of the Night

" Hey let me see that!" Before Virgil knew it his sketch pad was taken from him snatched by the annoying miss Amy Enely. He didn't resist he just let her take the pad and look at his drawing.
" What? Why are you drawing flowers your so gay." She shook her head and tossed his sketch pad back on his desk shuffling off to her group of girls, she couldn't afford to waste her precious free period with a loser like Virgil.
He quickly turned it and kept shading over the complicated design of swirls and leaves and petals. His pencil gliding over the page easily.

Mason sat in a desk a little bit farther from Virgil. He watched fsilently as he saw the usual girls pick on him. That was the general routine, and he supposed there was no stopping it. Mason never knew Virgil very well... but he always had a sympathy for him when he witnessed him get pushed around. But still, he never stook up for him. He figured he had chosen his place in the food chain, and apperentley that's how it would stay.

Virgil got up as the design of his paper started repeating, he checked the wall clock of the classroom he had enough time to get to his locker and store his sketch pad in it. As he picked his way across the desk asials a kid tripped him and he stumbled his hand slamming onto Mason's desk throwing the materials off. " God I'm sorry." He mumbled and started to clean them up.

Mason felt like saying "Ugh... Really?" But instead said, "It's alright man." Blocking out the snickers of the others. He scooped up all of his stuff and reorginized it. Then he looked back forward ignoring everything that had happened. Now, Mason wasn't ever the popular kid himself, but he was somewhere in the middle at least. Virgil however, was in fact the odd man out.

" Okay." He reclaimed his notebook and headed out of the room dragging his feet.

" Little Mister Mason~" Came the sing song voice of a girl. Curly blonde hair fell all around her face framing it nicely, she had a very pretty face and deep light blue eyes. She sat herself on mason desk crossing her legs and throwing them off to the side as to not have them sit in mason's lap she wore tight blue jeans and a frilly white blouse. " What's up?" She asked with a smile.

Virgil quickly spun the combo to his locker and deposited his stuff he dreaded returning to the classroom more people more annoying he instead headed to the bathroom. The lights were off as he opened the door they automatically came on though as they always did. It was rare for no one to be here normally kids got out of class came here and goofed off for nearly ten minutes before returning. He looked at himself in the mirror never liking what he saw. Same messy black hair, same almost silver eyes, hey were a very light blue everyone had always said but Virgil never believe it they were silver to him. Same very pale skin, he always wondered if he should let his real hair color come in, his sisters told him he looked better that way but he never believed that either.

Immediatley Masons day had gotten better, as always when she came around. That, and everyone else had gone back to their buisness after the Virgil inccident. "Hey." He greeted her. "Nothing much. How about you?" He replied with a happier tone of voice.

He left the bathroom and made his way back to class he'd killed seconds if anything else he supposed and those seconds were better off looking at his reflection then being in the classroom.

" Nothing, Amy's being terrible again and derricks acting like a rude jerk." She made a pout face " And he's messing with Virgil again I hate when he does that." She added more then just a tad bit of irration in her voice.

Virgil returned back to classroom, he took the quickest way to his desk and glanced at Mason's desk where he saw Merald Eveny sitting, he quickly looked away, he liked Merald she was one of the few people that was nice to him, though not in a romantic sense no he was no where good enough to have those kinds of feelings for anyone he saw back on his desk and started tracing the already made design on his folder.

Mason notied Virgil come in and sit down. "Well I guess you can trust a jerk to act like one." He reffered to Derrick. He looked back at Virgil once more seeing him hunched up in his drawing position, ready to be pounced on by another insecure jerk of the school.

"Yeah." She sighed as yet another antic began. Virgil had started to vigorously shake his pen the pen broke and ink splotched all over his lap.
" Look who had an accident!" Amy screeched and the room rippled with giggles. Virgil sighed and got up and calmly started to walk to the gym to get to his gym locker where he had an extra pair of jeans he had about enough time to get that done before free period ended.

"Mason let's do something!" Merald looked at him intensely. " come on he's having a REALLY bad day let's just do something to help!" she half begged him, she was a terribly kind person and couldn't help but want to assist Virgil in any way possible.

Mason paused. He wanted to help out Virgil, he did... "What can we do? Amy and all the others practically rule the school. We won't be able to stop them..." Mason new how negative that sounded but it was fairly true.

" Well we don't have to help him in the long run I just wanna do something just for today so he can feel good today." She said and started to play with her hair with her right hand. Then she suddenly stopped. " Mason, you know my house right?" She said suddenly sounding excited

"Um...yeah course why?"Mason got nervous as he always did when Merald got excited. And he new that this had something to do with Virgil, and he wasn't sure about it.

"Get Virgil to come over with you after school!" She told him more commanding then stating the idea. She had a very interesting idea in mind one that she was sure would surprise Mason. Virgil though she just some how knew he would like it.

"Um..." Mason thought. This would obviously get them into something much deeper and hairbrained... but Merry never let him down before, and he would do the same. "Alright... I'll see what I can do."

" Thank you thank you thank you!" She cheered, at that Virgil shuffled back in no longer in jeans but now in joggers which was all he had in his locker, they were black and plain, he looked better then before if you asked Merald but no one was asking. The bell ran and Merald sprung off his desk over to her own, Virgil slipped into his and grabbed a pencil not a pen he mad sure and started tracing over the design on his folder again as the teacher stomped in.
