" Hey let me see that!" Before Virgil knew it his sketch pad was taken from him snatched by the annoying miss Amy Enely. He didn't resist he just let her take the pad and look at his drawing.
" What? Why are you drawing flowers your so gay." She shook her head and tossed his sketch pad back on his desk shuffling off to her group of girls, she couldn't afford to waste her precious free period with a loser like Virgil.
He quickly turned it and kept shading over the complicated design of swirls and leaves and petals. His pencil gliding over the page easily.

"Hey." Mason said still looking into his locker gathering his things. Then he stepped back and handed a piece of paper to Virgil. "Here. This is my adress, come after we get outta here." Then he loaded and lung his backpack over his shoulder and left without another word.

" interesting." Was all Virgil said to Mason's back. Virgil walked home as he always did but this time it was slightly different.
" Hey ya!" Virgil turned, it was Merald.
" Yo." He greeted with a little salute and a bubble he made from the bubble gum he was now chewing.
" Did mason tell you?" She asked
Virgil nodded.
"cool then let's go over to his! He hates it when I come unexpectedly his place is always a mess!" he laughed and Virgil followed along as she lead him on her way to mason's

Mason sat outside his house after he got home expecting Virgil. He liked it outside because of how quiet it was opposed to when other people were around. Occasionally the silence was broken by the sound of a passing car, but then he heard voices in the distance. He peered down the sidewalk and saw Virgil. But Merry was there too, which suprised him. He stood up but waited for them to get closer before speaking.

" Aw no fair you knew we were coming." She made a pouting face at him. " Your no fun." She complained and threw her back pack at him lazily. " Be a gentleman and invite me in!" She commanded. " and my gentleman friend!" She added.
Virgil let a small expression of amusement cross his lips. He took the bag from over his shoulder to his side and held it by the hand a pencil was now in his hands, he was flipping the pencil threw his fingers.

Mason barely caught the backpack, bascially catching it with his forearms. He looked both of them over suspicously. Then he straightened up and put on a sickeningly fake polite voice, "Why please, your highness and sir, come in." Then he walked over and opened the door in a way making it bang against the wall contradicting what he just did. Mason flinched once the loud sound echoed through his house. "Oops..."

"Smooth." Merald said giving Mason a thumbs up and one of the smuggest looks Virgil has ever seen.
Caught up in laughing at Mason's little mishap Virgil dropped his pencil and it rolled down the drive way lodging itself in a crack. Virgil walked over and bent down to pick up his pencil it leaped out of the crack and rolled farther down, Virgil didn't know why at first then he realized the ground was shaking like a earthquake he fell over landing on his side.
Merald tripped forward and nearly fell face first as the ground started to shake around him she gripped Mason's clutching to him for balance.

Mason caught her hand and tried steadying himself against the wall why'll holding her up. He looked around, as if looking for someone guilty of doing it. He waited for another tremor. He wasn't sure yet. "You alright Virgil?" He asked. Usually he would laugh seeing someone go face first into the ground, but... not Virgil. Especially when it was cause of an earthquake.

"Yeah I'-" He was cut off as the ground shook again and a building started to fall a few blocks away.
"What what is that?" Merald shouted pointing to a weird animal shape that could be seen poking out from over the rubble of the house that had just been wrecked.

Mason tightened his grip on the second upon the second shock. Then his eyes went wide once he saw the building crumble. "Oh my God..." He said almost in shocked awe. "Are we supposed to go ins..." But his eyes moved to the figure standing amongst the rubble of the structure. "..I think that's a dog..." He muttered quietly to himself.

" Weirdest dog I've ever seen." Virgil commented as the creature slinked it's way out of the rubble it was about the size of a large dog Mason was right. Virgil slowly got to his feet and started to take very slow tactful steps towards Merald who was still clinging to Mason worrying of another quake Mason looked at the creature it was lower it's back arched more like a cat then a dog and Virgil could see it was red and it didn't look like fur it was still far to far away to tell though. Virgil did see one thing though and he knew what it was from natural science at school something he had taken slight interest in the posture of a predator and one that was about to pounce on it's prey. " It's it's looking at us." Virgil whispered.

Merald tried to detach herself from Mason but she could stand on her own her legs were shaking like leaves her heart was pounding and she was terribly scared a fear she would come to know as the biggest in her whole like Merald who had never known a biggest fear had just found it: Earthquakes.

Mason had lost interest in whatever the animal in the wreckage was, because he noticed how freaked out Merry was. "You alright?" He some worry showing through his voice. "I think it's over." Right when Mason said that he knew he should've knocked on wood.

Virgil hadn't realized he moved at first but he did he had moved and fast he had covered the ground to Mason and Merald and shoved them as hard as he could off the steps the creature think leaped and it was like it had suddenly hit accelerate it landed right on Virgil and he was sent to the ground knocking his head on the porch edge he fell unconscience to the ground.
The weird thing turned to where Mason and Merald had ended up the skin of it was red and it looked like layered metal like a gauntlet or something it even gleamed in the sunlight. BLack legs so thick with muscles Merald could have pointed each one out easily ended in horrible black claws that curled looking like a scimitar sword.
She wanted to cry wanted to cry and be a little girl and let an adult or someone like that take care of her whisk her away and deal with this thing but there wasn't anyone who could do that Mason was still here but what could he do this thing had closed that distance easily and now Virgil was out cold probably terribly hurt too. "Let's run we need to run!' She whispered in a panic to Mason

Mason froze when he saw the creature leap onto Virgil. Did he just... push them away from it? Why would he do that? But Mason didn't hav much time to think about this however because this... thing was staring them in the face, ready to slash them both to ribbons. Mason had expierenced something he didn't even feel during the earthquake. Genuine fear. And he had abided to Merry's idea and went with flight. Without letting go he dashed with her off into the yard.

Merald was suddenly being whisked away just as she had hoped but it was different it wasn't soothing or calming like a parent Mason's heart beat was irregular and thumping hard. She slid out of Mason's grasp and started to run with him she was slower though he was far more athletic then her. Adrenline pumped in her veins though she caught up.
The monster dropped into it's pouncing position the one Virgil had noticed. This time it opened it's foul mouth and breathed heavy what looked like your breath on a cold winter day exhaled but it was green and sickly looking. Horrible razor came out of the mouth of the beast like that of a beetle deadly sharp.
Merald couldn't help it even if it would slow her down she looked over her shoulder and screamed the blades the breath she saw it all and saw as it pounced high into the air in an arc headed right for her!

Mason had been glancing behind him the whole time they had been running making sure she wouldn't fall behind. They were making god distance but all of a sudden the beast was airborne sailing straight towards Merald. Mason had known Merald for a long time now, and he always felt for her, not wanting harm to come to her. So without him even knowing what he was doing he skidded on his heals and pulled a Virgil. He managed to get her out of the range but his lifted arm did little to protect him from razor sharp teeth and claws sinking into his flesh. He couldn't even wail in pain before he was on the ground blood pouring from his wounds.
