The Night Hunters

"We shall spread chaos to the world. We steal the hearts and souls of those not worthy in our eyes."
" With the absences of a heart our bodies never truely have a form, so in the night we come out with our animal instincts."
" We are the Night hunters and you are our prey!"
" Those of us who are born in the dark, see nothing but darkness all day. Too look at the light for the first times stinks. Too look at it a second enrages."
This lines flashed into Lyods mind as the wind whipped by his face he raced along the tree top in the midst of the hunt. Poor unworthy soul it was really far too easy. He thought to himself as he flipped and landed just in front of the fleeing figure he had been chasing. He stumbled back and fell. Lyod stood half in the shadows he must have looked like a grim reaper because the prey had just wet itself. He debated drawing his Weapon That Never Was to Slay this one, but that wouldn't be needed after all sunset was fast approaching. Instead Lyod fixed his tie, and dusted off the fine looking suit he was wearing.

"When we died we became a soul without a heart. We all died at sometime during the night. We are Night hunters!"
"Why do you treat us like we are monsters?! We have as much of a right to live just as you do!"
"Heh! Though you try to hide it, we smell the stench of your fear."
"We are not Solder's of Heaven nor are we the Demon's of Hell."
Yume smirked as she saw her leader land infront of the cowering human. This was almost too easy. She walked out of the shadows with hher hands in the pockets of her dark cloak she stood befind the shivering human as her eyes seemed to glow in the moonlight. "Lyod-sama. We should at least be having some sort of a challange." she said with a toothy grin.

“We forsake any morals we once had for what needs to be done.”
“Within the chaos we bring is a conclusion to what needs to be done and yet will not finish.”
“Once we find you, there is no escape from us.”
“We are the hunters of the night, destroying the hearts and souls of those who don’t deserve them.”
Roy swung down from a tree, landing at the right side of the human, with a smirk. "Why make it more difficult then it is? We might as well make it quick and easy. Unless you have any other ideas..." He said, suddenly finding himself grinning more about what would probably happen.

" Our next pray will be more then enough to satisfy your need for a challenge Yume." Lyod promised as he looked out to the sun just dipping down under the horizon. " But until then why don't we feast together?" He looked to his friends the trio had been on so many hunts they had not stopped to feast in a while. The prey looked scared at the new arrivals as they came as his head turned to each in turn as they spoke. " Feel honored, not all prey get to see us in this form." He allowed the whimpering man to know just before Lyod's very image blurred and shivered like an illusion before blowing away like something on the wind. The prey almost looked hopeful, only to return to his despaired expression as a growling Wolf met him face to face. Lyod's hot breath in his animal form held a horrid stench that leaked all over the man. He sniffed, not smelling the man's physical form but his soul and it was just the smell of a delicious one.

Yume nodded as she started to shift from her human form. Her hands slowly formed into large paws as she sank low to the ground on all fours. Her muscles grew stronger, her body became leith and more cat-like. Her new golden brown fur shined in the setting sun as she growled softly and hissed at the prey. Her clothes were now torn to shreds parts of then still clung to her body and some of it swayed gentaly in the air.

Roy nodded his head also, and grabbed and threw his cloak off in one swift motion, before his body dropped on all fours on the ground. There was a brief flash of light, and in place of Roy's human figure was a coyote, growling at the prey. He stood still, glaring at their victim and waiting for Zash to make his move. Roy was starting to get impatient, waiting.

Lyod couldn't help but attempt a smile at Roy's impatience and completely fail because of the restriction of his wolf lips. Lyod moved quickly a bite to the neck, flicking his neck he ripped the very soul of the man from his body. Not a single mark could be seen on the actual body. After dragging out the soul Lyod let him go opening his mighty jaw and panting. Ripping the living soul of a person from their body was hard work, with just that Lyod had done his part. Throwing back his head he let out a howl, the real hunt was on.

A loud growl came from Yume's mouth as she gave chase to the prey. She knew was expected of her; Lyod forces the soul out of the living body and she chases down the soul. This should be fun, she could not remember the last time she felt this excited. The soul ran passing through trees and bushes. The lioness chased after him her hot breath close to his neck, The soul not yet! she thought. Every time when he thought he was safe Yume was a mere few feet away from him. As he ran his breathing became more and more heavy as his legs started to give way. Now for the final part of the hunt.

Roy had been keeping up with Yume from the side, keeping hidden and waiting for the prey to wear out. Soon, he saw his chance and prepared to attack. He dashed forward so he was going faster then the other two, putting his energy in for a sprint, and swerved towards the soul. Taking his opportunity he tackled it, latching onto it and crunching down on the soul's neck until it stopped moving and after for good measure.

Lyod padded slowly towards Roy his, his glossy black fur shining in the moonlight. He met up with Yume on the way knowing Roy would be the one who went in for the kill he flicked his neck and gave a sharp bark at Yume for her to follow. He trusted she would be following as he came upon the white soul sprayed along the ground. Lyod brought his head down and inspected the pray making sure it was indeed incapacitated.

As soon as Lyod barked Yume followed swiftly behind him. Knowing Roy he was probuby pacing back and forth waiting for them. With a quiet huff she stared at the moon with her brown eyes. Why wasn't this more fun? she thought in dissapointment.

Roy backed away a step as Lyod came to inspect the soul, growling slightly out of frustration that they were taking so long and that Lyod even had to check. Roy had done this plenty of times before already, and was confident in his ability to finish it, though maybe a bit too confident.

With a quick grunt he let the rest of the group know to dig in as Lyod ripped apart the soul's arm and sucked it in like spaghetti. This was one of most unenjoyable parts of the hunt for Lyod as it always gave hi ma flash back to his own death. It had been a clear crisp morning the sun beat down on his mangled and slashed body. He already had a foot in the grave but he refused to die to what had given him these injuries. Strangely a wolf had been awake at that time and padded over to him, you couldn't really say he was breathing more like forcfully grasping air into an already severed windpipe. the Wolf had come over and lied itself down in the filth ofg the dump watching Lyod. What's wrong can't find the nerve to eat? You look like your starving come on just have a quick bite. Lyod could only think, not actually say. The Wolf nudged at his hand and face with it's wet nose, like a puppy that had wanted to play. Finally it gave up and just curled itself underneath his hand. Lyod had only hung on for a few seconds latter before losing consceinceness but he didn't have a doubt in his mind that the Wolf had delivered his death blow, but he still wasn't sure if the Wolf had eaten his body or not.

Yume took hold of the other arm, tearing it from it's socket. Padding off a little away from the boy's she ate in silance. The thought of why they did the things they did, the hunted down those that they viewed not worthy of a heart. What will become of them after they have fully died? this always came to the females mind.

Roy took hold of one of the legs and pulled that part off of the soul, eating it rather fast. Personally he had no opinion towards this part of the hunt. He didn't particularly dislike it or enjoy it. It was simply what they did, nothing more. There was no need to feel anything towards it.
