Two Buizel are Better than One

Energy: 19 - 5 = 14

"Here berries berries berries. . ." Bui called quietly in to the forest. He was out of supplies—had been for a while now, and figured now would be as good a time as any to go searching for more. It was a pleasant day, and Peacha Forest was an easy dungeon, Bui was sure he could fill his bag in no time.

Or, at least he had been sure, but every bush and every tree he had checked so far had been fruitless. Maybe I'm in the wrong part of the forest?


Bui stopped when he reach a small pond—a very small pond, more like a large puddle, really. He sat the the base of a tree and closed his eyes for a moment. Well the berries aren't going anywhere, maybe I'll just rest here for a bit. . .

Xeno was strolling through the forest silently while staring at the ground, "Geez, I think we're far enough away from all that racket going on back there." Looking up, he jumped backwards, startled at the tree he almost walked straight into. "Argh, wish you'd just warn me about these things" Xeno quietly muttered to himself. It was a long day, and he just wanted to find somewhere to rest.

Still wandering aimlessly through the woods, he came across a rather large puddle. I think this would be a good place to stay until everything dies down

Taking a quick glance around, Xeno noticed something orange from behind one of the trees. Slowly, he walked quietly towards the strange object until he realized, there was another Buizel here.

Taken aback by the company, he fell over backwards again and scrambled towards the bushes. Rushing, he jumped straight in and peered out hesitantly. Oh no, this isn't good, hopefully he won't notice me...

Bui was in a daydreaming state, somewhere between awakeness and sleep, when the sound of something moving in a bush pulled him back to reality. Alright, ferral or bandit? I'm sure I could take the first, and I have nothing of value for the second to take.


Bui stared directly at the still shaking bush from which the sound he had heard had come from. "Alright, if you're a feral looking for a fight you picked the wrong buizel—and the same goes for if you're some kind of bandit looking for an easy mug: I have nothing of value," Bui called out to whatever was hiding.

Bui's twin tails took on a dim glow and started to produce a faint ringing sound. "Come out slowly, or I'll shred that pathetic bush of yours to compost!"

Oh no. This isn't going to turn out well... Xeno cautiously got up and stepped out of the bush. He walked forwards a bit until he was a few steps away from the other Buizel. "I-I'm sorry. I d-didn't mean to startle you" Xeno rather quietly said, "I-I wasn't expecting anyone this far out here..." He stared off into the distance and muttered softly, "Please don't hurt me." Shuffling around nervously, Xeno glanced around nervously for escape options. Hey which one would make the best escape route?

No there's a reason I'm not fighting and you know it

Bui was ready to fight. Peacha Forest was full of easy fights and Bui had not had a good battle in a long while.

Looking at the stuttering Buizel in front of him and dropped the Sonic Boom he had prepared. Something about this other buizel's demeanor made Bui think he was neither feral or outlaw—or a threat in any manner.

Bui took a step forward and extended his arm, offering to shake paws. "Hi, I'm Bui—yes it's a terrible name, I know—and you are?"

another buizel, I've never had many long-term interactions with other buizel. I hope I'm not weird in some way. . .

Surprised by this sudden greeting, Xeno blanked out immediately. What do I do!? "W-Well..." Xeno said, barely above a whisper, "Um, I-I. Um" A little help here? Keeping his distance Xeno was still wondering what was going on here.

Easier said than done you know? "H-Hi there Bui ... Uh. M-My name is, well. My name's Xeno" said Xeno, trying the best he could to sound confident. Still glancing around nervously, Xeno tried to force a smile.

I think that the path on the right would be the quickest way out of here.

Bui returned a smile as he awkwardly put his arm down. He tried to take a more relaxed stance to help calm the newcomer.

Why is he so nervous? Maybe I scared him too well. . .

"Hey, calm down, buddy, I'm not going to attack you or anything. I'm just looking for berries. How about you, what are you doing in this part of the forest?"

Bui usually wasn't so eager to bond with anyone, but he always seemed to enjoy first interactions, and he could use the help collecting berries.

Be careful, he still might be trying to trick us...

Slightly worried by the question posed towards him, he chose his words carefully. "W-well .... I was just out for a stroll .... I-I didn't think anyone would be out here" he said very unconvincingly.

Come on that sounded stupid, thought you had better ideas than that.

Inching extremely slowly, Xeno moved towards his escape path on the right.

Let's hope he can't run fast

However, still slightly curious about the sudden company, he wondered if the other pokemon really didn't want to to hurt him.

I'll figure that out in a bit ... I need more info

Bui was not the most observant of Pokemon, but Xeno didn't seem to be the most concealing, either. "You don't trust me, I get it. I wouldn't trust you either if you had been a bit more. . . Confident." Bui unslung his bag from around his shoulder. "Of course, if you actually do turn out to be a bandit, I'll have to commend you on your incredible acting skills."

Bui tossed the bag at Xeno's feet. "There, it's the only thing of value I have—and it's empty. Now since I trust you, I don't expect you to run off with it, and I hope that you'll trust me a bit more knowing I've given you all I've got. Now, let's go find some berries, maybe pick a fight or two—" Bui gave Xeno a second look over.

"Or, maybe just pick some berries. You don't look much like the fighting type, no offence."

Okay maybe you've got something off here. I really don't think he's out to get us, definitely doesn't have anything else on him. The fact that he's picking berries, probably doesn't mean he's the strongest. Definitely stronger than me though. No shut up you're supposed to be helping me with this right now... Then again, if he's fine ... I think it'll be fine if I go with him a while ... I'll just back out once we start going into town.

"W-Well" Xeno started, he picked up the bag, looked inside it briefly and slowly took steps towards the other Buizel, "I-I guess." Finally reaching him, Xeno put the bag onto Bui's shoulders. "T-Take the bag though, I-I don't need it..." Taking a step back, he gazed off towards the space behind Bui. "I'm not a feral or bandit by the way," he muttered.

"Awesome! Let's go, then!" Bui slung an arm around Xeno's shoulders and began moving them both forward. "So, Xeno—nice name by the way, much better than mine—Tell me 'bout yourself, what's a buizel like yourself like to do for fun?"

Bui was very excited to have a companion of the same species with him. In his head, Bui thought himself superior to most other Pokemon he had met, and figured that even despite Xeno's shy personality, Xeno was probably quite capable when he needed to be.

Maybe he'll turn out to be more helpful than I expect. That'd be nice, to have a friend of the same species. I'll need to see about calming him down a bit though, he seems so flighty for some reason. . .

Ho boy, this is going to be ... Well ... Interesting

Thinking hard while walking along with Bui, Xeno said, "W-Well ... I-I wouldn't say that it's fun as per say, but I do rather enjoy reading books and talking to my frie-" Immediately, Xeno covered his mouth and panicked slightly.

Idiot! Come on don't mention anyone! You should've just stuck to the books.

Xeno put his hands down, embarrassed, "I-I mean, I like to read a lot..." Worried at what Bui would respond with, Xeno gazed in the opposite direction.

Bui nodded, not really paying attention to Xeno's actions, instead focusing on listening and searching for berries. "Ah, books. Are they any good? I wouldn't know, I can't read."

Having practically raised himself, Bui never bothered with reading—it wasn't a necessary skill to him, since books seemed to be a luxury to him. You couldn't find books in the forest.

"And friends? I don't have many of those, either, people don't tend to stick around me. Not quite sure why, but people tend to dislike me after a while. Is that a common thing with your friends? Do they just get bored of you or something and leave? Is that a normal thing, or just a me thing?" Bui realised what he was saying and thought to himself a moment.

Huh, where did that come from? I never really thought about it before. . . Why don't I keep friends. . .?

"Oh, um, well... I-I just have one friend... and I only read a lot since it's the only thing I'm good at... I've learned a bit from it" said Xeno. After staying silent for a bit, he realized he was opening up to a pokemon he barely knew.

Geez, what's going on here?

"I-I ... I think you're a good person though. For your other questions, well, it's kind of impossible for my friend to leave me, and I can't leave him either. It's a bit weird." Xeno had to think a bit, after stating these facts.

No! Nobody's supposed to know! You're going to look really idiotic! Come on...

Bui stopped and looked around Xeno when he heard Xeno say "it's kind of impossible for my friend to leave me. . ."

Upon not finding anyone, Bui stopped searching. "Wait, if you can't leave him and he can't leave you, then where are they if you're hear and they aren't?" Suddenly, something clicked in Bui's head. Now he was very excited all of a sudden. "WAIT!"

Bui moved in front of Xeno and put both paws on his shoulders and looked him right in the eyes. "Is your friend. . . A ghost?" Bui said this without any signs of comedy. He seemed legitimately interested and convinced now.
