Three Talented Trainers (Hoenn RP)

Ellie rose early on a beautiful, bright morning in Mauville City. She and her friends had decided to go on a journey across their home region, and today was the day they would begin that journey. Ellie had packed most of her stuff the night before, and was just finishing it off now, her Taillow, Reese, bringing over the spare pokeballs she had bought from the mart the day before. After packing those as well, Ellie headed downstairs, Reese fluttering after her.
"I'll see you around mum!" called Ellie as she headed out the door, ready to go and meet her two friends and set off on their journey.

Ellie's Team:

Ellie shrugged, "Sure why not." She paused, turning to her two Pokemon to ask which wanted to battle. It was then that she came up with an idea. Both her and Seph had two pokemon now... so they could do a double battle right? It's give both of Seph's pokemon experience and practice, whilst also enabling Ellie to practice for the double battles in her contest debut. Ellie put forward this idea to Joseph and waited for his answer, Malcolm fluttering back over now that Calypso had been returned.

A double battle. Now that was something one wouldn't see too often.
Intrigued, Wilson turned to the two others, watching interestedly.
Would he have carried popcorn with him, he would have put it to use now.
But since he didn't, all that was left for him to do was to spectate and to speculate.
Who would win? That wasn't of concern.
What fighting strategies could be learned? Now that was something worth looking for.
Anything, that would help with improving his team's...or rather Elvis' fighting performance was welcome.
Let the games begin...

"Alright" Seph smirked, as he reached back to Calypsos pokeball and called her back out. The marill seemed to have calmed down, and Herc was standing ready next to the marill as Joseph turned and took a few steps back to give the pokemon room. He turned back towards the girl, who was no longer a friend in his mind, but an opponent for the duration of this fight. Herc tossed his horn about threateningly and the marill pulled some punches at an invisible foe.

Reese and Malcolm prepared themselves mentally, Malcolm remaining rather calm and nonchalant, whilst Reese cried out a few times, shaking her feathers and awaiting Ellie's first move.
"Alright you two, on the defensive to start with. Malcolm use Double Team! Reese use Mirror Move."

The two Pokemon did as they were asked, Malcolm starting with Double Team and creating multiple copies of himself. Reese soon did the same using Mirror Move, until a plethora of Volbeat and Taillow faced the two opponents, all fluttering in the air.

Now this is interesting.
Upon seeing the army of Volbeat and Taillow, Wilson found himself reminded of a video game of his, a certain strategy in particular, namely the "Zorg Rush". Would the copies use a similar strategy, or would there be something else? Sadly he wouldn't be able to use this technique himself, since Elvis wasn't capable of Double Team. For now, the two of them would watch...

Seph frowned, he knew of the nuisance that was double team. He also had nothing to combat it. He thought that he would have to take down the source of the annoyance first. "Calypso, Bubble!" The marill seemed hesitant to obeying him, after all she had no reason TO obey him. She huffed and blew some bubbles at the pokemon half-heartily. Seph had been hoping that the bubbles would take out some copies, but the Marill wasn't keen on obeying him. He turned to Herc and had him used a simple horn attack, aiming for the Volbeat in attempt to get rid of the source of the Double Teaming Terror.

"Tail Glow, Mirror Move!" called Ellie, really wanting to test out one of the battle techniques that she had adopted from her appeal idea. The Horn Attack and Bubble moves taking out a few but not all of the copies, Ellie continued with her setup, "Peck and Tackle! Use a synchronized spiral!"

Already used to flying along with each other, Malcolm, Reese and the remaining copies all spiralled towards Calypso and Herc, the Volbeats using a Tackle and Tail Glow combination to attack the Marill and the Taillows using Peck and a Mirror Move achieved Tail Glow to attack Herc. Both sets of pokemon left spiralling light trails behind them as they moved in, however only the two real Pokemon actually dealt a hit, hidden among the remaining copies.

Wilson was watching semi-interestedly. While the Double team had been a nice start, the current events were a mixture of useless appealing and standard attacks.
Hopefully they would get more creative soon, because if not, this would be an even greater waste of time than catching the Pokémon around here. At least this didn't cost him any ressources, though.
So he sat there...watching...

Seph watched as the swarm, well swarmed his pokemon. He knew that he had to get rid of that Volbeat soon. He kind of wished he had found one himself, since he was impressed by the display the pokemon made. The taillow wouldn't have been able to do all of this without the volbeat. As the taillow neared to attack Herc, the marill and the Heracross managed to swap places by accident by trying to dodge the fakes, thinking they were real. Instead the marill was hit with the peck attack and the Heracross with the tackle. Calypso puffed out her cheeks once more in anger, and completely ignored Joseph's command for a tail whip attack. She instead set loose a stream of bubbles to attack anything that came near her.

Hercules was almost struck with the rampant marill's attack, he managed to dodge it just in time and had enough time to yell at the marill for nearly hitting him before setting his frustration loose on the opponents, using Megahorn on anything he could. This made Joseph sigh, at least his heracross was partially obeying him...

The Taillow was hit by the long range Bubble attack and most of the copies in the area were now eliminated, even Malcolms. The Volbeat however, had escaped damage, using the last of the copies as cover to dodge the Heracross' Megahorn.

"Mal use Silver Wind! Reese, Peck and spin through it!"
The Volbeat parted it's small jaws, sending a the glittering silver winds heading straight for the two Pokemon. Using the cover of the thick silver wind, Reese used Peck, spinning through the wind in order to displace it from herself as she flew through it. The Taillow burst through, aiming for the Heracross in an attempt to deal some effective damage.
The spinning also drew in minuscule amounts of the wind around her, making her feathers appear as if they were glittering, but very subtly. Ellie made a mental note of this accidental discovery for later.

"And the prize for the least useful strategy goes to...", Wilson silently commented.
This battle wasn't anything of interest, but rather the same old attacking mixed with a useless hint of contest fighting. None of those strategies were new or even creative, so Wilson had to suppress a yawn as he continued to watch. Why couldn't something interesting happen?

Both pokemon were struck with the attacks. Herc gave an enraged scree as he was suddenly blasted by a powerful source of water. The soaked heracross turned to look at an equally as angry Marill. Calypso was blaming him for making her lose! The two began to argue for a bit. Which only ended in Calypso blasting Herc with water and then looking to Wilson, who she didn't like, and blasted a water gun at him as well before returning herself to her pokeball. Herc didn't seem too happy as well he stomped the ground and rammed his horn into a nearby tree in rage before being returned by Joseph who was surprised by these events, and wasn't too sure on how to react..."I-I guess they quit..."

Team:

Ellie blinked at the Marill's sudden frustration. Reese quickly flew out of there, feathers still glittering and a white light trail stretching out behind her -something that neither the move Peck, nor the SIlver Wind provided-
Malcolm stayed hovering where he was, the thicker, silver winds beginning to die down and disperse. Reese landed on Ellie's shoulder, the trainer taking a moment to acknowledge that Reese seemed to have learned a new move, before moving over to her friend.
"I guess... Maybe it'll go better next time..."

Since Wilson wasn't really paying attention to the battle anymore, the Water Gun hit him directly in the face, causing him to fall off of the small stone he had been sitting on.
As he got up again, he brushed the grass and dirt off of his clothes before returning Elvis to his Pokéball.
What a wonderful start for their journey this had been. It could only get better from there on, couldn't it?
Although he remained silent, Wilson gave a reproachful look to Joseph as he walked back onto the main path again.

"Er...Sorry about that Wil..." Joseph said rather uncertainly, "M-Maybe we should just keep going..." he suggested, not caring about what he had thought and said earlier. He just wanted to get away from this embarrassment and hope everybody would forget about it once they reached the town. He followed Wilson without waiting for an answer, for once agreeing with the boy. He had decided to keep his pokemon in their pokeballs since they didn't seem to be in the best of moods at the moment.
