Three Talented Trainers (Hoenn RP)

Ellie rose early on a beautiful, bright morning in Mauville City. She and her friends had decided to go on a journey across their home region, and today was the day they would begin that journey. Ellie had packed most of her stuff the night before, and was just finishing it off now, her Taillow, Reese, bringing over the spare pokeballs she had bought from the mart the day before. After packing those as well, Ellie headed downstairs, Reese fluttering after her.
"I'll see you around mum!" called Ellie as she headed out the door, ready to go and meet her two friends and set off on their journey.

Ellie's Team:

The ball shook three times before finally clicking, the Volbeat inside. Not hesitating, Ellie picked up the pokeball and let the Volbeat back out into the fresh air.
"Hi there!" she grinned, the Volbeat blinking and looking around. It took a moment for the firefly pokemon to register what had happened, but when he did, he hovered there, watching his new trainer.
"I guess you need a name since you're on our team now," smiled Ellie, "How about Malcolm?"
The Volbeat seemed to shrug before just nodding. He didn't particularly mind what name he was given.

Wilson walked up to the other two, both of them apparently just having caught another Pokémon.
"So...can we continue now.", he complained, disappointed with the beginning of their journey.
Gym leaders were strong. Thus they needed strong Pokémon as well to even have a chance of defeating them.
"We're not going to accomplish anything here. It would be great if you could just move on."

Seph returned to the duo after picking the pokeball up and bagging it. He listened to Wilson ramble about going on to the next route and spoke, "We haven't seen all this route has to offer Willy so chill, I'm not leaving until I see everything." Joseph had been cooped up in Mauville all his life, never allowed to go outside of town boundries into the routes. Here he was, finally leaving the town, and people were expecting him to rush along. Sure, he wanted to get moving too, but he didn't want to miss anything because he was too much in a rush to notice it.

"I'm gonna be doing some training with these two. Better to get some in early rather than rush ahead unprepared," grinned Ellie, turning to Reese and Malcolm.
"So.. the appeal rounds of Verdanturf's contest are double appeal. Meaning I have to use two Pokemon. So I guess we'll need to work out something awesome to show the audience! I recon if we did some synchronized flying and Tail Glow work we could get in a nice start and go from there, so how about we practice that first?"
Ellie grinned at her two Pokemon, the Volbeat nodding, glad to show off it's flying abilities. Ellie then wandered away to find a nice area to train in.

Wilson sighed at his friends' inefficiency.
Annoyed, he wandered through the area, hoping to find the smallest possible waste of his time.
Seriously. A goldfish. How would it be able to do anything of use? At least it was capable of learing Surf given the right HM, so it might be able to get them to areas with better Pokémon.
For now, though, the only thing he could do was wait. Wait for those two to finish mesing around and get serious for once.

Joseph followed Ellie, letting his newly caught Marill out for some training as well. The marill looked around a bit, blinking, before seeing Joseph and giving him a glare before leaping up to give him a good slap with her tail. Seph had caught the tail though, causing gravity to take the marill back to the ground and have Joseph hold marill by the tail, "You seem really moody, how about I call you Calypso instead of Cal?" he asked. The marill just puffed out its cheeks and looked away, she didn't seem to fully trust Joseph yet. She then had a wicked idea, she decided to blast a Bubble attack at him. When he finally released her, she immediately turned around and went with her plan.
Joseph was able to dodge the bubbles just in time, as they headed straight for Wilson.

To begin with, Ellie tried teaching her two pokemon simple aerial movements, trying to play on both pokemon's strengths whilst also remaining relatively synchronized. Their matching speeds meant it was easier for them both to perform at the same pace without leaving each other behind. Initially however, their different flying styles had caused the problem, but with that now fixed, Ellie began testing out more impressive techniques. She had the duo do spins and loop the loops in sync, it turning out to be quite the impressive light show. However Ellie knew she'd have to do something else too if she wanted to get past the appeal rounds and into the battle rounds.

"So what other moves do you know, Malcolm?" asked Ellie, deciding that she should probably learn this before continuing. Malcolm then proceeded to do a short demonstration of Silver Wind, Double Team and finally Tackle. Grinning at the revelation of the Double Team, she realised that she could also show off Taillow's power in her appeal if she had Malcolm use Double Team beforehand, and the Taillow took out each of the copies with Peck during their aerial dance.

As he was lost in thought, Wilson didn't even notice the Bubble until it hit him straight in the face, causing him to almost fall off of the rock he was sitting on. Having regained his balance, he looked around to find the source of the annoyance, finding it in blue, spherical form, standing next to Joseph.
At least that guy had found a Pokémon, that could do something. Still, it was only a Marril, a weak Pokémon. Surely Wilson would soon find far better ones. And then there would be revenge...
For now, he had to restrain himself, though, waiting for that opportunity.
The time would come.
Eventually.

Calypso stared at Wilson as he seemed to stare at them in annoyance. "Mar marill!" She hopped over to Wilson and pointed at him when Joseph turned to look.
"Seems like Calypso wants to battle with you Wil..."Joseph spoke. He wouldn't mind having a one on one battle with his friend, he figured they would be able to quickly find and defeat a nurse that could heal their pokemon for them. He had heard of these types of nurses before, but he wasn't sure if they were in this region or not. He then wondered if they would be able to do a three way battle, a free for all maybe? He then decided against suggesting it, he usually had stupid ideas, and this was one of them.

Ellie was more than happy to continue with her practicing whilst Seph and Wil battled, though the idea brought to mind how she would fare when it came to them. After all, contest battles were not all about power, but showing off your pokemon's strengths in unique and interesting ways.
She stood for a moment in thought, attempting to come up with some interesting combinations that could be used for battle. The Peck-Tail Glow combo could be adapted for that... though Ellie wanted to figure out a way to use Mal's beautiful Silver Wind move somehow.

Wilson sighed before speaking.
"I doubt, that would be that good of an idea, since I still only have Elvis, who would be at a massive disadvantage against your Marril. The result is already quite predictable, so it wouldn't make much sense to even battle at all. I suggest for you to battle Ellie instead - she seems to have found
a Pokémon, that wouldn't be oblitterated in the first seconds."
He then turned away from the two again, hoping to be left alone until they would finally be ready to move on.

(OOC: He is deliberately not mentioning the Goldeen.)

Joseph Shrugged and simply stated, "Suit yourself" before walking away, his Heracross by his side as they moved to a small area with dense trees and many rocks. Seph used the large rocks and boulders to have his Heracross break and train on, since there didn't seem to be any pokemon around at the time.

Calypso had other plans. She puffed out her cheeks and gave the trainer an angry look before leaping up and attempting to smack the trainer with her tail. She was enraged that the trainer hadn't accepted her challenge, so she would have revenge.

"I don't mind battling if you'd rather train that way, Seph," blinked Ellie, having glanced over after Wilson had opted not to battle, "I mean.. it'd give me a chance to practice my moves too. So it's not all bad."
Reese and Malcolm both fluttered over to Ellie, waiting for Joseph's answer. However, Malcolm flew over to Calypso when she attacked Wilson, trying to calm her down. After all a trainer had every right to refuse a battle. The Marill was getting angry for no reason.

Wilson was trying to remain as stoic as possible as he tried to ignore the Marril, that was hitting him in the face. While this attempt was at least moderately effective, he still was quite grateful about that Volbeat trying to calm the Marril down. What was its name again? Magnum? Anyways, studying the two others fight would probably help kill some time before they would finally continue and get something done.
Elvis on the other hand seemed to be oblivious to all, that was going on around him. He was randomly rolling around in a small pit of sand, trying to polish his edges in it.
He had never been the attentive type...

Calypso merely huffed at the trainer and the volbeat as a red light surrounded her and she disappeared. She had returned herself to her pokeball.
Joseph listened to Ellie as Herc smashed small rocks into pebbles and said, "Sure, i mean. If you want to fight we can..."
