Hunting for Berries

Aaron cautiously stood at the edge of the forest glancing up at the giant trees in front of him. He was right, it wasn't too dark during the day but they still cast a decent shadow over the land. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all, but then again he'd never get those berries by sitting out on the side lines all day. Taking a deep breath he strolled into the forest and looked around but couldn't see any berry trees.

“Where do you think we'll find some berries Whimsy?” He asked. Aaron wasn't particularly accustomed to hunting for food other than iron ore and there wouldn't be much of that around in the forest even if he dug for it. “I guess maybe we should try a little further in?”

Whimsy darted away, shrieking as the Patrat gave chase. What could he do? The wooper crouched down and began wagging his tail in an innocent manner, trying to throw its guard down. It had little effect. Finally, he gulped down his fear and threw himself at the Patrat in the form of a body slam. "I don't th-think it's going to listen, Aaron!" He squeaked after making impact. Whimsy managed to cause some damage, but if anything else, simply made the enraged rodent even angrier. He picked himself up and waddle backwards fearfully as the Patrat began snapping its jaws intimidatingly.

Aaron watched the scene, wide eyed and his heart pounding. Whimsy was being brave, he knew he should be too but he felt so scared. Seeing how the Patrat threatened Whimsy though caused something inside of Aaron to snap, "Leave my friend alone!" He shouted as he picked up a clump of med from the floor and threw it squarely into the Patrat's eyes. It didn't do much but it at least distracted the creature for a while and caused it to attempt and rub its eyes clean... "S-sorry" whimpered Aaron as he closed his eyes and the Patrat now angered turned upon him and leaped into the air jaws blazing. As the two made contact Aaron feat the pressure of the Patrat's teeth against his armor and then... nothing.

Risking to open a single eye he looked over his shoulder at that the feral pokemon who was staggering back clutching at it's front teeth. "I... I think I hurt it." Aaron announced somewhat confused by the whole scene.

The staggering affect of the impact didn't last long however as soon the Patrat was back on its feet and ready for a second round.

"Let's both take it on!"Whimsy shouted with determination. He was greatly impressed by the strength of Aaron's armor, he decided to leave some of the more physical attacks to him. As usual, Whimsy took a deep breath, puffed up his cheeks, and let out a gushing stream of water. The blast was dead set on Patrat, Whimsy inching closer while his jet lasted to increase the effect. When it ran out, he carefully eased out of its range of charge and began kicking up dirt near the opponent.

The Patrat was dazed only for a mere minute's worth before it reared up and resumed snapping its jaws. At least the two were tiring it out.

Right then, a team attack. Aaron was pretty sure that if he hit it with a Head Smash that it might at least daze the pokemon and whilst Whimsy was distracting it he had the perfect opportunity to do so. Summoning up all the courage he had within him Aaron pushed it all into a tiny little ball and bowed his head. He moved slowly at first but picking up pace with every stride he was soon running flat out and just as the Patrat reared up to it's full height and readied it's teeth to bite again Aaron's iron plated head smashed into the side of it's face. The pair of them went tumbling over to the edge of the clearing but thanks to Aaron's incredibly thick skull he remained unharmed himself. The same couldn't be said for the Patrat however.

Aaron was the first on his feet and as he ran back to the center of the clearing the Patrat slowly staggered to its feet and appeared to slowly spin around n circles for a few moments. "What's it doing?" Aaron asked somewhat nervously in case it was powering up some devastating attack.

Waving the dust away, he stood and gawked at the scene for a whole minute. It was astounding, to put it simply. "Wow! Are you okay? That was...crazy!" Whimsy cried, waddling to Aaron's side. He let out a sigh of relief upon seeing the menacing rodent was in worse shape than him. What a peculiar sight, he thought to himself. Why would something just stop everything and spin? It didn't look confused. Then it hit him. "It's charging up 'bide!'" Whimsy squeaked, afraid of the results of an attack like that. He readied water gun once again.

"Bide...Hmm," pondered Aaron, "Whimsy I may have an idea... RUN!" With that Aaron snatched up his berry and retreated into the tree line of the forest just far enough to be out of the Patrat's range of attack. Panting for breath a little he glanced back over at the clearing to see if Whimsy had followed or not. He'd almost certainly be safe here but he'd need to head back through the clearing at some point in order to find his way back home and there was no way of knowing if the Patrat would still be around or not.

Whimsy turned and waddled after him, piping hot seed clutched in his tail. "R-right behind y-you!" He called in response, hoping to catch up as best he could. His stubby wooper feet did't carry him anywhere near as fast as Aaron's armoured paws, but with the right motivation, boy did he manage. Whimsy narrowly darted into the forest before the Patrat's power exploded across the clearing. The lingering heat only caused him to worry more before he caught up to Aaron. "How will we get back?"
