Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptySat Aug 11, 2018 3:25 am

First topic message reminder :

Rule Two: Be Social.

That seemed like as good a reason for an adventure as any. Fenris didn't have a rule specifically covering that, so he found himself having to improvise a bit for justification. Not that he needed justification since it wasn't as if he was breaking any of the rules, but he'd fallen into the habit of making a game out of trying to justify everything he did. It was a fun challenge at times, though this particular instance had proven quite easy to make up an excuse for. What better way to be social than to go to new places and find new faces? The logic seemed pretty sound to him, and they were his rules in the first place, so no one knew better than he did!

...Of course, he really just wanted to go explore a place he'd heard looked pretty, but that wasn't going to stop him from playing his games. Besides, it wasn't as if his excuse was a lie; looking for new friends was always one of his primary goals, and now was no different from any other time. Surely, some neat personalities could be found in such a popular place! It seemed to be what the glaceon had learned to be a... tortoise attraction? He didn't know any turtles on a personal level, so the prospect was definitely one of interest to him. He wanted to know if blastoise were as big as he'd heard, and if touching a torkoal would burn, and... well, he knew there were more kinds of turtles, but the specifics evaded him.

Nonetheless, he was here to meet all the turtles he could find! And even if this place was somehow empty, he was determined to find some way to entertain himself. Simply being here had been fun enough so far, with every part of the relatively short journey being full of excitement, at least for him. Crossing the lake barrier had certainly been fun, though perhaps more time-consuming than it could have been. Sure, he could have just frozen a path across and skated his way through, but using the stepping stones just seemed so much more fun that he ended up taking the extra time to do that instead. It wasn't as if sliding around on ice was unfun, but it was something he, as a glaceon, had ready access to whenever he was around water. Getting to make his way down a path constructed by someone other than him, on the other paw, was not an everyday occurrence.

Now that he was in the copse itself, he found further entertainment in its beauteous sights. Fenris made no effort to hide the fun he was having, running and dancing through the woods, occasionally diving into a pile of leaves, and giggling like mad the whole time. It would be more fun as soon as found someone to play with, but until then, he was content enough on his own. Maybe he could find something pretty to take back with him! Treasure hunting wasn't exactly his most pressing reason for being here, but he'd come prepared with a small bag to store things in, just in case.

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyTue Aug 14, 2018 11:19 pm

Fenris was just hoping R-Rana would have mercy and pick his question of choice, but much to his surprise and satisfaction, she ended up going above and beyond, agreeing to answer both without even being asked to!  The first question really wasn't too interesting, but it was a free bonus he wasn't going to pass up, and the thought was what mattered.  Probably.  Alas, the response to the question was about as interesting as the inquiry itself - not at all - but it did confirm that he was hearing something.  Of course, he didn't really need confirmation since he could hear it more clearly with his adept ears.  It wasn't very important anyway and he almost immediately forgot about the noise when the cyndaquil moved on and addressed his second question.  He was all too interested in knowing what this new friend wanted to do with her life; he always loved hearing things like that from others, partly because he didn't personally understand it.

But fate had other plans.  As she was just getting to the good part, R-Rana suddenly stopped and went back to the topic of the noise again.  Why was she talking about something she'd already finished talking about?  Fenris frowned in disappointment and tilted his head at the words, failing to understand that this wasn't a part of the game and she was trying to warn him.  It wasn't until the source of this interruption revealed itself that he began to understand.  When a serpentine creature sprung forth from the foliage, it was immediately clear that it was fleeing from something, and it was soon revealed what that was as a... flying stump emerged behind it.  It was obvious to the glaceon that he was supposed to help here, but he wasn't entirely sure which side to help; while the snake was obviously being chased, that didn't necessarily mean it was the victim, which made it hard to decide who to help.  He couldn't just assume one of these two was right, but fortunately, he had his own personal guidebook.

Rule One: be kind.  Always give someone a chance, and never assume the worst of them.

Rule Three: be helpful.  If someone is in trouble, do everything possible to help them.

So to stop them from hurting each other until he could decide who was wrong... he just had to down them both.  Easy.

"You can tell me your goal in a sec," he spoke rather casually as he rushed right by the cyndaquil, taking an offensive approach instead of staying on the defensive and waiting for something to happen.  It seemed more effective to just take them both out while they were distracted with each other and ask questions later.  Fenris stopped in place for only a moment to fire a freezing ray from his maw, but not at anyone; rather, he aimed it in front of the serpent, freezing the ground along its path and causing the creature to slide out of control before falling clumsily on its face.  Swiftly moving forward and changing targets immediately, Fenris spun and lowered his neck to allow his bag to slide off before biting onto the strap.  It may have seemed random, but he was very specific about the timing and placement of his motions, ensuring he was in just the right position to suddenly scoop the angry stump into his bag as it attempted to fly past him and go for the target it was still set on.

After securing the stump thing, the glaceon whirled around and tossed his bag straight into the trunk of a tree that happened to be close to R-Rana.  There was a very audible sound of wood against wood before the sack and its living contents fell to the ground.  "We win!" he proclaimed with an innocent giggle before practically frolicking back over to the snake, figuring his new friend had the other one covered.  "Now who's the good guy?"

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyTue Aug 14, 2018 11:47 pm

Iris thought his situation couldn't get much worse.

But when he burst through a thick set of bushes and was treated to the sight of two other pokemon waiting for him on the other side, he was proven very wrong. Before he could even register their presence or think to cry out for help, one of them was already in motion; The larger, black quadruped darted past its companion and opened its mouth - in that instant, Osiris figured that it was gonna eat him. But instead, he was left floundering as he lost traction underneath him, and the dratini was suddenly sent spiralling out of control. The forest floor he was slithering on had suddenly turned into a slick coating of ice! Before he knew it, the world was spinning around him and he ended up faceplanting in the dirt a few paces away, the headband in his mouth masking his groan of pain.

The dragon pokemon lay there for a few moments. Dimly, he thought he heard talking somewhere behind him but it was hard to justify paying attention to it. His head was spinning, his snout was aching from colliding with the ground, and the ice he had slipped all over left him feeling prickly and uncomfortable. The sudden shift in the situation had him thrown. One moment he was fleeing from a wild pokemon, and the next he was cleanly knocked down by some stranger! He lifted his head and spit his headband onto the ground.

"What the heck was that for?" Osiris was out of breath, suddenly sore, confused, and irritated, all of which reflected in his tone. He took a moment to coil up and raise his head, taking stock of the situation he found himself in. Two other pokemon were there with him - the one that tripped him up and its smaller companion. The former seemed vaguely familiar, but he was at a loss for what species either of them were. Notably, though, the phantump was... not there with them. His gaze searched the area for any sign of it, but all he found was someone's bag laying next to a tree.

Rana was a mixture of surprised and in awe. First off, the dratini runs..? Slithers..? Into the clearing she and Fenris were in, followed quickly by a pokemon she's fairly certain is a phantump, if she's correct. Then, Fenris quickly jumps into action, making quick work of incapacitating both the phantump and the dratini, leaving Rana with nothing to do except stare in her slight awe. She shook her head slightly, quickly making sure that the bag the phantump was in was secured shut, as it was right beside her, trying to reign in her awe at the glaceon's slick movements. "W-Well.. And c-correct m-me if I'm w-wrong, F-Fenris... B-But y-you could've been a t-thief, s-so it was p-probably best to r-restrain both..? R-Right?" She tilts her head towards Fenris, who she now regards higher than she did before, in slight awe still, playing the moment in her head to try to completely understand what happened completely.

(I WANTED to add more but there's not much I can do right now and I'm not the best at adding filler that doesn't just feel unnecessary, y'know?)

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyFri Aug 17, 2018 8:27 am

While it wasn't hard to please this glaceon, he still felt quite proud of himself for his display.  He knew it looked more impressive than it really was since he had pretty much just attacked two random pokémon that weren't paying any attention to him, but he was pretty sure it still looked cool.  He didn't exactly get a round of applause, though there wasn't a crowd in the first place so that was fine.  Now, while he could be a bit oblivious at times, he was by no means surprised when the snake-thing voiced its mix of apparent displeasure and confusion at his actions.  He hadn't been expecting nor trying to knock the thing out, and he knew that anyone would be upset with randomly being attacked, especially if they were the victim in the situation.  The implied criticism didn't really bother him though, and the subsequent support from R-Rana only made him even more content with what he'd done.  It wasn't as if he had really hurt either of the combatants, if they could even be called that, and... well, the words of his defender parroted his own thoughts clearly enough.

"Yeah, I didn't wanna hit the wrong guy, sooo... I just hit 'em both!" he proclaimed in a rather chirpy manner, stating his decision with a proud giggle.  Surely there would be no hard feelings when there was such sound reasoning for what he had done, especially since he had still technically saved the snake from its attacker.  He glanced over to his lifeless bag to check on the ghost inside, who seemed to be out cold after just one blow.  "But... I guess I hit that one a little harder than I meant to... heheh," he added on, ending with a more sheepish version of his trademark impulsive laughter.  He really hadn't been trying to seriously hurt the stump creature, and he doubted it was more than simply knocked out, but he still wondered if perhaps he'd thrown the thing a bit harder than necessary.  This thought was quickly discarded from his mind as his attention snapped back to the slithery boy who certainly seemed innocent enough; the situation already looked good for him since he was the one being chased, but it helped that he wasn't attempting to fight or flee.

Thus, in Fenris' eyes, it was safe enough to assume the situation had been appropriately dealt with.  "So," he turned and started off toward R-Rana, "Your dream?  You still haven't told me!"  There was a clear and sudden shift in his behavior, now portraying indifference if not ignorance to the serpent's continued presence.  He knew the guy was there; he just didn't care, or rather, cared more about his conversation with his new cyndaquil friend that had been so rudely interrupted.  With the situation at hand resolved, there was no loner a reason to focus on the unimportant bystander other than to go out of his way to make another friend.  In truth, he was far from opposed to such a thing, but he had a fairly small attention span and was a bit too focused on the game he had already been promised.  In fact, he wasn't even bothering to retrieve his bag and discard its temporary contents.

(Sorry for the delay.  Been a bit distracted.)

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyFri Aug 17, 2018 8:07 pm

"A thief?" Osiris muttered to himself as he drew back slightly in offense at the smaller pokemon's words. Maybe from their perspective, it made sense, but still. He was a lot of things - lazy at times, and he could tell a few white lies to get his way. Maybe he could be a bit manipulative when he thought he could get away with it and he was definitely impatient, not to mention rash, but the idea that he would steal from someone was... Well. He didn't like the implication.

Certainly not from this weird black fox thing. Iris straightened up somewhat, turning to look back at the sheet of ice the larger pokemon created that sent him sprawling. He followed the pokemon's glance at his bag as he explained himself. Did... was the phantump in the bag? And he must have done it quick, too, 'cus it was over and done with by the time Osiris had gotten back up. He turned back to the black fox but it had already turned its attention back to its companion, effectively ignoring him now that the ordeal was over. His snout scrunched up slightly in irritation. What a piece of work this guy was!

Well, two could play at that game. Iris took a second to put his headband back on his head, gently headbutting it and using his tail to tie the ends. Then he slithered on over to the bag by the tree, keeping a wide and respectful berth. He wanted plenty of room to run or use a thunder wave in case this thing floated out of it. But nothing was happening.

"Is it... knocked out, or whatever?" He had to stop himself from asking if the phantump was dead - it was ghost! It was already dead, wasn't it?

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyFri Aug 17, 2018 10:08 pm

Rana was still amazed by Fenris's equal parts smooth, efficient, and short battle, looking at the black glaceon in a new light, speaking up to answer the glaceon's question. "E-Ehm... M-My dream is to j-join the guild. N-Not b-be the best, o-or the most p-popular member of it--- B-But... F-Follow in my parents footsteps, a-atleast a b-bit. H-Help p-people..." She looks away from the glaceon, blushing slightly to herself at her---atleast to her---embarrassing goal, before realizing the dratini spoke up to them.

"E-Ehm.. Y-Yeah, I-It's unconcious, I-I think. D-Don't worry." She quickly turns her attention back to Fenris, nodding her head. "S-So... T-Truth or D-Dare, F-Fenris?" She tilts her head at the glaceon in question, still blushing to herself from revealing her---even if it's somewhat obvious---goal to someone who is, by all rights, a complete stranger to her. Sure he didn't seem hostile, or rude, but she still didn't know almost anything about him other than that he's a black glaceon and his name is Fenris. She started debating to herself about what to ask him or tell him to do in the scenario of each option, unsure of her options.

(It's cool EV! Also, more bears please. Big money no whammy.)

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptySun Aug 19, 2018 6:56 am

With the snake saved and the situation defused, Fenris was happy to get back to the enthralling conversation he'd been taken away from.  Fortunately, R-Rana had her answer at the ready and still seemed interested in playing as she talked away about what her goal was.  She wanted... to join the guild.  Grassveil's, presumably, which was cool; but then she went on to clarify that she didn't want to join for any of the good reasons.  Joining a guild seemed neat and all, but it wasn't exactly the most original goal, and she didn't even have any interesting reasoning for wanting to in the first place.  She just wanted to... help people?  Technically, Fenris himself also did a fair bit of that, but because those were the rules!  It wasn't as if he wanted to make a career out of it.  Suffice to say, he was just a bit disappointed in this answer as a whole, though he still noted that R-Rana wanted to be a guild member and seemed to look up to her parents.  It wasn't quite the most all-revealing string of words in the world, but it was enough to tide the glaceon over.

And now it was his turn.  Or at least, it was supposed to be, but the snake was apparently still hanging around and demanding further attention.  It was admittedly a bit annoying to keep getting interrupted by the same dude.  Fortunately, R-Rana explained away the large worm's curiosity quite efficiently on her own, leaving Fenris able to avoid having to say anything further; an opportunity he eagerly took.  He was just so interested in finally having someone to play his games with that he didn't care about anything else, even his bag and the spooky stump it now contained.  Fortunately, R-Rana was keeping her focus on what was obviously the most important thing as well, not letting the little interruption slow her down much.  When the words were spoken, Fenris could hardly restrain himself from jumping with excitement.  Truth or dare?  For him, at least, the choice was easy; he didn't feel like trying to make up something interesting about himself to talk about when he could just do what he did best instead.

"Dare," he could hardly contain himself until the cyndaquil finished speaking before responding to her, getting straight to his decision and leaving nothing up to question.  He wanted a dare.  He didn't know much about R-Rana, but he had faith she would be able to pick out something challenging or creative enough to keep him entertained.

(Fuck it yeah more bears)

PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptySun Aug 19, 2018 7:25 pm

At least the other pokemon was polite enough. Osiris had honestly been kind of talking to himself as he inspected the bag and the ghost inside of it, but it was nice enough of her to chip in and reassure him. Still, the important part here was that his temporary foe had been dealt with. The dratini raised up and heaved a sigh. What a relief that was. It had all happened so fast, too - one minute he was running for his life and the next he was suddenly sprawling across a sheet of ice. Mystery dungeons really were always full of surprises. No way he'd have been able to see this coming.

He turned back two the pair of pokemon, actually deciding to listen in on their conversation. A hint of a smile blossomed on his snout when he realized they were playing truth or dare. He had to stop himself from jumping forward and getting involved - not only was the bigger guy still ignoring him, but he didn't come here to play. He was long since past that now. He was training! To get strong, so he could become a powerful hero and have all sorts of adventure.

Still... no one said he couldn't watch. At least not yet, anyway. And he'd just gone through a bit of an ordeal; No one would blame him if he stopped to take a breather, and if he just happened to take his break right next to two pokemon playing a rousing game of truth or dare, then it was just a happy coincidence.

With that old nostalgic feeling of excitement at watching someone about to receive a ridiculous command, Osiris slithered away from the bag and focused on the small blue pokemon, waiting for her dare.

(SIKE the bears were a ruse all along I'm actually hoping for strange tickets and other goodies)

PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyThu Aug 23, 2018 9:08 pm

Rana was deep in thought, thinking about the situation at hand and the best way to deal with it.. Situation at hand being Truth or Dare, and dealing with it meaning picking a dare. She lets out a small 'thinking noise', or rather a small hm, before nodding to herself. Putting into consideration the challenge of the objective she's thinking of, alongside it being something unique, something that's not too hard but not too easy...

She nods again, turning towards Fenris. "I D-Dare you to M-Make an I-Ice sculpture of the D-D-Dratini!" She 'confidently' gives Fenris her dare, mentally giving herself a small thumbs up. Not too hard, but shouldn't be terribly easy, either!... Wait, what if he can't, though? Rana then mentally starts debating herself. "I-If you c-can, I-I mean!" And then, double meanings hit her. "N-N-Not that I-I'm implying t-that I-I don't t-think y-you're a-able to!" A mental attempt at calming herself down--- which fails--- takes place, with her resolving to stop talking and take her feet out of her throat.

(Sorry it's not all too long! Family stuff + stomach virus.)

PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyTue Aug 28, 2018 4:10 pm

Fenris hung on R-Rana's every word as she declared his dare. He was excited for some fun, stupid, dangerous challenge where he could show off his skills; or maybe some kind of feat of bravery, which he didn't really understand as a concept since most things just weren't scary to him. It didn't matter though, because the dare he ended up with was nothing like that. Instead of something exciting and daring and... well... physical, he was directed to perform art. R-Rana wanted him to make an ice sculpture, and of the... dratini? He assumed that was the snakey thing that was still lurking in the area for some reason, but that didn't help too much. He wasn't exactly an artist and had never attempted using his ice beam for any such thing. Yes, he knew what an ice sculpture was, but he had no idea how to make one. He was used to using his beams with some degree of precision, at least, but he had never tried to do anything quite like this.

Oh well. He wasn't gonna give up on a dare. "Alright!" he chirped confidently despite having absolutely no idea how he was going to pull this of. He took a few steps away from the cyndaquil so as to give himself some room to work, also creeping a bit closer to the "dratini" so he could get a better look at the thing if he needed to. With no delay for petty things such as planning, he got right to work spraying a freezing ray down at the ground in front of him. He figured the best way to start would be to make a chunk of ice, then he could try to add more to the sides of it to give it that authentic "large noodle" shape. It only took a few seconds for him to manage to build up a decent, solid base, at which point he paused and turned to the real thing for inspiration. He was going to need a closer look for this; a detailed analysis of the creature's curves. After checking over the block of ice he'd created and tapping it with a paw to make sure it was nice and sturdy, his eyes locked right onto the dratini.

Without doing anything silly like asking permission before invading someone's personal space, he started off toward the snake, saying and doing nothing to make his intentions clear. With naught but the semi-permanent smile on his face, he eagerly made his way over to his subject with the intent of getting uncomfortably close and observant.

(And sorry I died.)

Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fallen Leaf Corpse   Fallen Leaf Corpse - Page 2 EmptyTue Aug 28, 2018 6:36 pm

This guy was probably an ice-type.

Osiris thought he had pretty good luck being born a dragon-type and all; The only pokemon that they had to really worry about were fairies and ice-types. There were other dragons of course, but as long as you were stronger than them then it wasn't an issue. But ice-types and fairies, man, they made him feel nervous in a way that no other kind of pokemon could. It was just how easily they could put him down that got under his skin the easiest and it seemed that lately, he was meeting more and more of them than ever.

Normally he'd be totally enthused about getting his own ice sculpture but the way that the black fox pokemon strutted toward him with an absent smile on its maw had him reel back. The memory of it knocking him down and sending him spiraling across ice was still all too fresh - and so was the ache in his tail. When the fox spat out a beam of ice that created a solid foundation on the ground, it took everything he had not to jump out of his skin. By the legendaries, ice-types. Could he be any more nonchalant about spitting out cold death around people? "Um.

"Do you need me to, uh, pose?"
As uncomfortable as this made him feel, no way he was going to be that guy and be all 'oooh nooo I'm so scared don't have fun on my account boo hooooo'. He felt like slightly less of a third wheel now that he was technically contributing to their little game, but the proximity of the dark fox suddenly looming around him was off-putting. There was an awkward pause before he spoke again. Osiris shivered, and he wasn't sure if it had to do with the ice flying around or just how frigid it seemed to be around the fox that was suddenly all up in his grill. "I'm Osiris, by the way. Dratini extraordinaire. Who are you guys?"

His awkward babbling introduction totally had nothing to do with how nervous he was. Seriously.

(Shit happens y'all dw bout it)
