| Subject: (Up for Adoption) Cinmere the Rockruff Wed Aug 16, 2017 2:32 am | |
| - Spoiler:
» Name: Cinmere » Sex: Male » Species: Rockruff, #744, The Puppy Pokemon » Affiliation: Unaffiliated
» Level: 5 » Energy: 16 » Ability: Keen Eye » Moves: - Crush Claw (Egg) - Leer (Level 1) - Tackle (Level 1) - Sand Attack (Level 4)
» Natural Feats: - Keen Eye: While in battle, accuracy-lowering moves like Sand Attack don't affect Cinmere. - Intuition: Like other Rockruff, Cinmere has a strong intuition for when someone around him is feeling sad. - Good Dog: Self-explanatory. The best Natural Feat.
» Relatives: - Merza (Mother, Midnight Lycanroc, NPC) - Sivar (Father, Midday Lycanroc, NPC) - Lunihar, nicknamed "Lumi" (Sister, shiny Rockruff, NPC)
» Personality:
Cinmere nearly always intends to do good, but he can be very underhanded regarding the way that he goes about it. Although friendly and kind, he's also a skilled liar. He's the type to have many acquaintances, but only bond strongly with a few. He's talkative and will do his best to strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and he tends to stray away from talking about personal details, even if asked about them.
The little Rockruff can handle the sight of blood and wounds well, having seen quite a few nasty injuries from border fights in his old tribe. It would be wrong to say that he's fine with the thought of death, whether it's him dying or another, but he has accepted it as a natural part of life that nothing stays forever, and that's all the more reason to value what you have while you have it. He has an even temper, and it's very rare of him to raise his voice to a yell even when he's angry.
He doesn't have much of a sense of honor, at least in the traditional sense. He isn't above manipulating his enemies, or deceiving them with tricks like false surrender or feigning unconsciousness. Despite his unscrupulous methods, he does mean well, and would never target an innocent Pokemon. His first priority is to grow stronger so that he can fend for himself well enough to go home, but if he can help Pokemon in need along the way, he isn't going to pass up that opportunity.
He has some leadership skills, as he can come up with a rough plan of action at a moment's notice, and factor in the opinions of others around him when making decisions. However, he does tend to lean towards his own interests if they conflict with someone else's. When he isn't the one charge, he tends to defer to the authority of others, unless he finds their decision completely ridiculous, which is rare.
Cinmere often writes about or draws rough sketches of the places he's been to in a journal he owns. He hopes his old tribe is safe, but he doesn't want to let worry for them block out the amazing things and people he meets. Maybe, just maybe, that's only a half-truth - he rushes to do something to distract himself whenever his thoughts start traveling back to his old pack. The line between "hoping for the best" and "in denial" can be dangerously blurry at times.
» Likes:
Treasure: He isn't going to hurt or steal from anyone for it, and so he considers it a harmless vice, but Cinmere has a certain weakness for all that glitters. Promises or rumors of treasure is a surefire way to get him invested in an exploration quickly.
Attention: Cinmere does perfectly fine at the center of a crowd, and in fact thrives off of attention. He enjoys the rush of energy that comes with everyone's eyes on you.
High Places: He wishes he could reach Aileron, because he's sure he would have been happy joining the guild there, if he could only fly. While he could have someone carry him there, he would rather not join the Aileron Guild because he doesn't like the thought of being dependent on another Pokemon to move from place to place. He loves the view from high up places, and he can often be found relaxing in the sun on any rocks or tree branches he can reach.
Discovery: He doesn't like being away from home, and he's worried sick about his friends and family, but the upside is that he can explore so many places he's never even heard of in his quest. He often writes about his discoveries in a journal he keeps, and he plans on giving it to his sister, Lumi, if he ever finds her again.
» Dislikes:
Fighting: Cinmere isn't a very skilled warrior, and even though he won't complain if he has to fight, he finds no joy in it. While exploring Mystery Dungeons, he prefers to try and outwit or avoid enemies, if possible. If he does have to fight, he tries not to brute force his way through battles, instead manipulating the environment around him or using moves in unconventional ways.
Extremely Energetic Pokemon: Cinmere doesn't deal well with pokemon who ask him a thousand questions at once and run circles around him. He wouldn't wish them ill, of course, but they tend to leave him frustrated as he tries to keep up with them and whatever it is they're talking about.
Staying Up Late: He can do it, technically, but prepare for him to be incredibly grumpy in the morning. He's always been more of a morning person, occasionally to the point of waking up at 4:00 or 5:00 AM, because he enjoys having free time where hardly anyone else is awake.
» History:
- Spoiler:
Cinmere lived a relatively happy life, despite the fact that his tribe of Lycanroc lived in a rough environment near the top of a secluded mountain range. They lived side by side to a number of Mystery Dungeons, as well as a rival tribe of dragon types. Although they lived in the wild, the pack was far from feral - they had their own culture, and they often used spare or scavenged materials to create visual art. Education was far behind what a city 'mon would have received, but Cinmere learned at least basic mathematics, literacy and science.
His parents were the leaders of the pack, and as their oldest child, he was set to take their place when they passed away, as was tradition.
He was closer to his father than his mother, as she was often busy leading patrols, searching for food, or fighting the rival tribe. He wasn't held on a pedestal by the other children, despite his status as the future successor, and befriended many of the Rockruff pups in the pack. Not everything was perfect, of course. Their fighters often came back from the borders of their territory heavily wounded, if they came back at all. Cinmere was trained for combat and survival at a young age like every other pup. He was considered average, and Lunihar outdid him in both categories, to his annoyance and her smug glee.
When they were young children, he had a bitter rivalry with his younger sister by a year, Lunihar. The two of them clashed in too many ways, especially as Lunihar was very outspoken about her revolutionary ideas. She didn't believe that their current method of choosing the next leader was fair, not just to her, but to everyone in the pack. As well, she believed that the pack should move to someplace less treacherous, which was all but insanity to them, because that would mean leaving behind the Starfalls. The Starfalls were a series of waterfalls, and the pack believed that their dead packmates would climb it to reach the afterlife. Leaving it behind would, to them, effectively be damning their dead.
Cinmere always sided with their parents against Lunihar out of loyalty to them, and this only further widened the divide between the siblings. As incidents piled up, the divide between the children grew. They teased each other, played mean-spirited tricks, broke each other's things and injured each other during "play" fights. For a brief while, their parents let this slide, believing it to be normal rivalry between siblings. However, it quickly became clear that they were going too far. They managed to keep Cinmere and Lunihar from teasing each other by punishing them when they tormented their sibling, but they had no clue how to get their children to repair their relationship. The two eventually just ignored each other, and their childhood hatred cooled to apathy towards the other.
Things didn't change until Cinmere was ambushed by a cadet from the dragon tribe, an ambitious Vibrava not much older than him, hungry for glory. He had been walking alone when he was attacked, and it was Lunihar who saved his life, holding off the Vibrava until the adults arrived. She had been tracking the scent of prey when she heard the sound of a fight and her sibling's voice. By the end of this encounter, the brother and sister were both alive, although badly injured. They were practically forced to speak with each other, stuck side by side in the medicine den, facing weeks before they were well enough for training again. It was extremely awkward for a while, but as they spoke, they realized they had more than a little in common. Although it was still strained, their relationship improved over the weeks that they healed.
Lunihar invited her brother to explore one of the nearby Mystery Dungeons with her. They kept up the pretense of teasing each other, if to a much less severe degree than before. As they went on more and more adventures like this, it became clear that there wasn't any malice behind it anymore. Their parents kept a close eye on them, just in case they were reverting to the way they acted as children, but the bitterness behind their rivalry had faded bit by bit.
All might have been well, if not for the enemies lurking at their doorstep, growing stronger with each passing month. Supplies were growing scarce and less warriors were coming home. The darkest day of the pack came when one of their scouts reported that the dragon tribe had all but emptied their camp. Almost all of their warriors were marchings towards the Lycanroc pack, and they clearly intended for this to be a decisive strike. The pack was badly outnumbered. After talking through their options, the two leaders made a decision: If he agreed, Cinmere was to be escorted off the pack's territory, so that their successor could rebuild the pack and reclaim the Starfalls if the worst were to come and the pack fell tonight.
Cinmere initially refused, only agreeing to leave after a heated fight with Lunihar, where his sister insisted that he had to go. He was worried sick about the others, but he knew he wouldn't have been any help in the fight - the weak Pokemon he and Luni had bested in Mystery Dungeons were nothing compared to hardened dragon warriors. He left, and managed to survive on his own until reaching Rainfront Town using the survival skills his old pack had taught him and more than a slight amount of luck. His first priority is to grow strong enough to fend for himself before returning to check on the others. He doesn't know if they won or lost that battle, but if they lost... well, he wants to be prepared before going back, in case the dragon tribe is still there.
The reality is that the pack was slaughtered that night. They fought well and came up with a cunning plan to evacuate and take over the enemy tribe's camp while all their best fighters were away. The first stage of this plan worked, and the pack ambushed the enemy warriors on their way home, who had assumed the pack had fled. However, they were simply outnumbered and outfought. They died that night, down to their final pup. Although he pushes away the possibility as best he can, Cinmere is the final survivor, save for one other: The Deserter, Lunihar, who ran away during the chaos of combat and refused to die for a pack she felt never valued her.
» Other: Cinmere owns a thick leather journal, which he bought from a small bookstore Rainfront. Being unable to hold a pen, he writes using ink and footprint runes.

| Sorry, your Character Bio cannot be approved due to the following reasons: 1.) NATURAL FEATSRockruff have an apparent ability to sense sadness in others. While this probably means a strong intuition for sadness rather than a sixth sense, it's still worth a mention. 2.) LIKESWhile it isn't directly stated anywhere, flightless pokémon can be carried to Aileron by someone capable of flight. It's viable for your character to simply not think of that, but I feel the need to be sure you're aware that it is an option. 3.) HISTORYThe point of leaving the fate of Cinmere's pack open is not lost on me, but it needs to be specified. This is the character's history, not his memory, and whether his family's dead or alive is a pretty big detail to leave out. I'm no fun, I know. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to message any of the Secretaries. May it be through the Chatbox or through Private Messaging, we will tend to your concerns as soon as we can. Please fix your bio accordingly so that we may be able to approve it. Once you have completed your edits, either bump this thread or message us. | |

| Should be fixed. I edited a couple things, his reason for not joining Aileron is now not wanting to be dependent on another Pokemon to move from place to place, the natural feat for sensing sadness has been added, and I elaborated on the final fate of his pack in the last paragraph in his history. Hopefully everything's alright now. | |
