| - Report Guidelines -Howdy! I'm assuming you're here because you want to submit a report and you want to know how to do it correctly, or you're not entirely sure what you should include in your report. If either of those are the case, well, you've come to the right place! __________________ -Overview-There are a number of things that you must include in your report, but the things that should definitely be included often differ depending on what style of report it is. There are three types of report, a location report, a rumour report and a challenge report, and all types are explained in this thread. There are also some general rules about submitting reports, which will also be outlined. -Naming Your Report Thread- In the Windrose Scouts, in order to keep our records consistent, we require you to name your report threads in a certain way. This is pretty simple and it just helps us keep track of what's what and whether reports have been done about certain places, for example. When submitting a report, your thread title should contain the type of report, and the dungeon or board it was located in, followed by this sun symbol as demonstrated below; Type of Report - Location Name | ☼ e.g Rumour Report - Pricklemist Hill | ☼ or Location Report - Shadowhue Forest | ☼or Challenge Report - Everspring Vale | ☼This allows us to both know which dungeon it's in, and what type of report it is at a simple glance, and also allows us to easily search both things using the site's search function. The sun symbol also allows moderators to know that the report has not yet been evaluated. When a report has been checked and evaluated so that the writers can be given their rewards, a mod will edit a tick sign (✓) into the title to replace the sun (☼). The description of the thread can usually be anything you like, although, with rumour and challenge reports, it is encouraged that you summarise the original rumour or challenge that you investigated or completed in your report thread's description. -Report Types- As mentioned previously, there are three types of reports. These are location reports, rumour reports and challenge reports. Location Reports are when a WS member decides to explore a dungeon or location of their own accord and submits a report of their experiences and findings about said place. These will likely make up the majority of the total reports as you don't have to investigate a particular rumour to write one. The only requirement for writing a location report is that you must have had at least one thread within that particular location. Multiple reports are accepted for the same location. i.e, two users can both write about Shadowhue Forest for example, as long as the report itself is unique and not a literal copy-paste of someone else's report. However, if a user who has already written about a location posts another report about that same location, this second report must contain information that the original report did not cover. For example, if the original report fought only zigzagoon in their experience and found only blast seeds and pecha berries, you might be able to write a report that clarified that other species of pokemon did in fact live there, and other items could be found or berries could grow naturally there. Please note however, that if the difference in observations is not large enough, then a second report about the same location may not be rewarded at all. As such, you are advised to be careful when submitting these further reports about the same location for rewards.
The second type of report are Rumour Reports. Unlike location reports, these reports will be relatively unique, as each report will be focusing on exploring a different rumour that has come to the Windrose Scouts' attention. In order to submit a rumour report, you must have accepted the role of investigating a rumour, located [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on the Rumour Bulletin, and must have also posted saying that you've completed the investigation of that rumour.
The third and final type of report are Challenge Reports. Each WS member can complete a challenge as long as they are not an outlaw. These are assigned by Russell and allow that character to gain the 'Experienced Scout' rank within the Windrose Scouts. Similar to rumour reports, after completion of the assigned challenge, you are asked to write a report about it. You will receive rewards for a challenge report the same as any other type of report. The only difference is that if the report is good enough and the challenge successfully completed, you will gain the Experienced Scout rank. -Report Requirements- There are a number of things that need to be included in both types of report, and one such thing is the quick note at the beginning. All reports should contain this note and it will tell the reader who was involved in the thread as well as link the particular thread(s) that the report is based on for anyone who wants to take a look at it. There is a handy code provided below for you to fill in and put at the beginning of your report; - Code:
-
[size=11][b]» WS Members:[/b] [b]» Others Involved:[/b] [b]» Thread Link(s):[/b]
[b]» Author(s):[/b] [/size] When filling this in, please name the characters involved and remember to link the character records. When linking things, please also utilise the url bbcode, which is; [url=LINK] [/ url] but removing the space and inserting relevant test, such as a character's name, in the middle. The author(s) section is to be used to name whoever worked on the report so that everyone who worked on it can be appropriately rewarded.
The following is a list of things that could be included within each type of report. Please also note that these lists are not exhaustive of what you can include within a report, only a guideline to get you started. Location Reports | | Rumour Reports | • Description of location. e.g climate, terrain • Native pokemon that were encountered • Any items that are commonly found. • Especially berries and plants that grow there.
| | • A full account and description of how you investigated the rumour. • Make sure you include how you concluded it was true or false. • Detail about the nature of the rumour. • It's also worth comparing your findings to the original rumour. |
• A full account and description of how you completed the challenge. • Anything else that happened during the challenge. • What you learned from completing the challenge. | -Receiving Rewards- After you've completed your report, you'll want to recieve your reward. Once the sun symbol (☼) is present in the title of your thread, that's an automatic signal for someone to come and take a look at it. There are three tiers for receiving rewards, 1, 2 and 3. The higher the tier, the more reward money you will receive from your completed report. Each tier has a set ‘band’ of poke, between which your reward will be assigned when your report is graded at that tier. All three tiers are available to any report type and are evaluated based on the rough criteria below. Tier 1 - 0 – 300 This tier is the lowest tier and shows there is a lot of room for improvement in the quality of your report. For example, you potentially didn’t make the most of the details your character knows, or the events that happened in your thread, or the report itself was somewhat confusing to read. You can also be rewarded this tier if you have written many location or dungeon reports about the same dungeon. Note that you will never be given a reward of 0 poke unless it is clear you are attempting to take advantage of the system with low quality works.Tier 2 – 500 – 700 This is the tier that majority of reports will fall under. There may have been a few mistakes here and there, but overall the report’s quality was good and deserving of rewards. Whether you are higher or lower in the poke band for this tier will depend on the quality of the written piece and the information you contain within compared to the thread(s) it is based upon.Tier 3 – 900 – 1000 This tier is reserved for outstanding works that are especially creative or enjoyable to read. Reports given this tier are the gold standard for reports and as such are considered deserving of a high reward. It is rare that you will be assigned this tier upon evaluation.
The rewards that you get will be posted in the description of your report thread, and also noted in WS's budget report. Please note that if you feel the tier that your report was assigned is an unfair evaluation of your work, you may appeal for a second look by editing your thread title to contain another sun icon next to the check mark that marks it as evaluated. If you do so, feel free to contact myself or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] about it. A thread looking for a second evaluation should have a title that looks like this; Type of Report - Location Name | ✓ ☼ If you have any further questions, please refer to the FAQ in the post below! If your question is not there, feel free to PM me ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) or contact me on discord and ask!

| -FAQ- - General Questions:
What point of view should I write my report in? You can either write your report from the point of view of the character or characters involved, or you can write it as a complete non-fictional account and distance your character from the report itself. It's entirely up to you. i.e first or third person is acceptable but remember that your character(s) are writing the report.
Can more than one person work on a report? Yes! But only for rumour reports and location reports. Multi-author reports are actually encouraged especially if you aren't a fan of report writing. The only requirements for this is all authors partake in the threads referenced for the report and that you note everyone's usernames in the 'Author(s)' section so that everyone can be rewarded for their work.
- Naming Report Threads:
How do I make the ✓ and ☼ symbols? Honestly, the easiest way to do it, especially on mobile devices, is to just copy and paste it. However on a laptop or computer, I believe ☼ is alt + 15, although ✓ doesn't have an alt code.
- Report Notes:
What is a report note? A report note is just what I'm calling the mini form you'll fill in and place at the very beginning of each of your reports, so that I don't have to fully explain it each time it's mentioned.
Is there an easy way to link usernames for the author section of the report note form? Yep! In order to create a quick link to any user, you just need to add an @ sign in front of the username. For example if you wanted to link to my profile (Solilo) you'd write [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
- Rewards:
How do rewards work for multiple authors? For a report with more than one author, the assigned reward will be gained in full by each author.
How do I know how much i've been rewarded? When your thread has been evaluated, the reward tier assigned and the amount of poke you have been rewarded will be edited into the thread's description. For examples of this, please take a look at any completed reports.
How do I claim my reward? As the rewards are of monetary value, you should post an [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] when your reward is assigned so that the correct amount can be awarded to your account. When you do so, please link your evaluated report thread and mention any and all co-authors in your request.
