Edge of Winter

A lone Treecko walked into the darkening forest. His shadow was swallowed up behind him as the sunlight above vanished within the trees overhead. He continued on, though, his footsteps making soft crunches as the thin layer of ice and the leaves underneath gave way to him. Even with it being midday, the shade of the trees above allowed the frost of the morning dew to stay on the ground.

The Treecko sighed out boredly, his breath visible in the air as he finds himself in a bit of a displeased state. This was supposed to be a dungeon, was it not? From what he had heard, there were supposed to be many Pokemon and items to find here. Yet here he was, a few minutes in and it was as if no one was around. Did he arrive at the wrong time? Was it too cold? Too early? Too bright? Though, he really didn't know if it could get any darker in this forest.

Myrriou had wandered into the forest again, she felt kind of crazy being back here again, with all the danger but she didn't seem to mind. She had climbed up onto of a pretty large tree getting a nice look over all of her surroundings. It was easy to get lost in thought up here, which is what she did thinking of her past and what her group was doing now, especially her mother, a thought that made her sad.

She snaps out of her trance when she sees the little green Pokemon wandering down below, she was at least 30 or 40 feet above so she assumed she was safe if in fact it wasnt a nice Pokemon, but she didnt want to judge too quickly. She snaps off a tiny frozen branch from where she was sitting and lobs it towards the Pokemon below her.

Gauel continued on into the forest, seemingly in a daze due to his thoughts. That is until a frozen piece of wood stabs the ground in front of him. The Treecko jumps back instinctively, looking up into the dark trees for the owner of the branch that could have stabbed him. "Oi! What's the big idea?! Ya wanna start a fight?!" he called out into the darkness, his eyes haven't adjusted quite yet to allow him some vision.

His face was in a slight snarl, and his fists were already bunched up, ready to fight whoever may have thrown the branch. While he did come here in the hopes of having some sort of spar with the Pokemon of the dungeon, he was not going to enjoy a sneak attack.

Myrriou giggles, swinging her legs back and forth on top of the large tree branch, it was entertaining in a weird way to see the small Pokemon flail around angrily. She grabs another branch, lobbing it at him again calling out to him with a giggle. "Looking for me~?" Myrriou should have known better not to be trying to pick fights with the inhabitants of the Forest, but she was disregarding all of that for a bit of fun, besides it didn't seem that violent to her and it couldn't be feral by the way it talks.

She wondered what such a Pokemon even was, nevermind what it was actually doing here.

Gauel jumped back once more as another branch flew out of the darkness. He growled at the giggle that followed. "Gah, I'll show ya what attacking me from the darkness gets ya!" The Treecko leaned down onto all fours, much like a professional sprinter would. He then launched forward, leaving a puff of snow and leaves behind him as he used a Quick Attack to climb up the tree the branch came from.

As he neared the branch the Mawile happened to be seated on, he jumped off the tree into the air. While suspended there for that moment, his eyes made out her form in the darkness. " There you are! Now laugh at this!" he yelled as he swung his tail, colorful leaves shooting out towards her as he launched a Magical Leaf. If this Pokemon wanted a fight, he'd sure as hell give it to her.

Myrriou watched through the darkness the little green Pokemon bolt away, she lost any sort of vision she had on before it was almost too late, she didn't expect her mischief to be met with any sort of actual violence, before she could realize it, she was hit by a flurry of weird glowing leaves sending her flying off the tree branch falling a good 30 feet into a bush below, while she was kept conscious it was only barely. Her head was spinning and her head was blurry. She tries to get up but only manages to get up onto her knees weakly, holding her head in her hands. She was only having fun, why did the Pokemon have to hurt her? She thinks to herself, sniffling and tearing up, trying to keep herself from bursting into tears.

Gauel landed in front of the Mawile. Growling, he walked over to her, his fists clenched as he prepared to question her. That is until he heard her sniffling and saw her tearing up. The Treecko blinked, his shoulders slumping. "Uh, h-hey don't cry now," he said a bit awkwardly. He wasn't really sure what to do here. The Pokemon attacked him but now she was sitting in a bush crying. He certainly couldn't go on attacking her. He gulped audibly, unable to make a decision on what to do now.

After a moment he shook his head, reaching his hand out to the Mawile. "L-listen, ya can't just go throwing junk atta Pokemon. Ya don't know who you could be dealing with,' he said.

The Mawile pouts throwing parts of the bush and leaves at the green Pokemon she was angry at, and she thought rightfully so, but her throwing of things from the shadows probably wasn't a good idea to begin with "Go away! You hurt me you stupid meanie!" She tries to run away, but her dizziness causes her to wobble and stumble over onto the ground only a few feet away from where she was before, now face first into the ground and wailing and bawling, causing a lot of attention to herself and making a lot of noise in an otherwise eerie and quiet forest.

Gauel grunts as a stray branch hits him square in the face. The Treecko shakes his head as if trying to shake the pain, and the bubbling anger, away. "Look, I'm sorry, but ya did throw stuff at me. That's also not an excuse to keep throwin' stuff."

The Treecko rubbed his face a bit. Should he just walk away now? Though at the sight of the Mawile falling onto the ground and crying told him otherwise. Sighing, Gauel walks up to the Fairy type. "Ok, c'mon now. If ya gonna keep cryin' like that Pokemon are gonna flock to us an' attack." He did his best to try and avoid the giant mouth on the Mawile's head, kneeling down next to her.

The jaws attached to the little Pokemon's head snaps and growls angrily at the Treeko, as if acting interdependent of the Mawile, but protecting her from any harm. Myrriou gets up and wipes away from her face, all of the tears she had made in great quantity, she says nothing to the green pokemon in front for her, and instead crosses her arms and scowls, knowing that she isn't in any danger from it and using that to make him feel bad about hurting her.

Unfortunately, the conflict was going to pick back up. Myrriou's insensitive bawling had caused a Pinsir to draw near, it could be quietly heard from where Gauel and Myrriou are, trying to sneak up on them like easy prey, the feral oping he can get some food or something from them, proctecting his part of the forest while he is at it.

Gauel steps back from the snapping jaws, narrowing his eyes a bit. His look didn't improve at the Mawile's scowling, Gauel making an audible groan. "Ya ain't gonna let me hear the end of this, are ya?" he asked her. He sighed and sat back. Gauel wasn't paying much attention to his surroudings. As such the Treecko didn't notice the Pinsir attempting to sneak up them.

Nor did he notice the Flabebe floating above them. The little Fairy type was also attracted to the sound of crying, curious as to what happened here. It was a bit cautious about approaching though, with how neither of the Pokemon below seemed in a good mood.

The Mawlie lets go of her tense angry look towards the Treeko after a moment. She really didn't want to make any enemies on her journeys, that wasn't the point of her wandering. Her lowered guard gave way for another danger to present itself, the Pinsir got close enough to charge straight forwards at the bush it heard noises from, breaking through the bush and only mere inches away from hitting Myrr with its horns.

The Mawile jumps forwards next to the Treeko with a look of pure fright in her eyes. Would she have been knocked unconscious by that? What even was it? The thoughts race through her head, distracting herself from the problem at hand, she shakes her head quickly and prepares it for a battle.

Gauel was about to continue speaking when the Mawile jumped beside him, a Pinsir charging past them. "Uh..." the Treecko said as he looked at the Pinsir skidding to a stop and turning around. Gauel frowned turning towards the Pinsir to fight it. That is until the bug type's body seemed to gain a red hue as it grabs a tree, ripping it out of the ground.

"Oh hell no, I ain't about ta get in a brawl with that," the Grass type said as he turned around to make his escape. Even if they could tag team the Pokemon, there was no way they'd be able to do enough damage to scare it off, let alone knock it out. The Flabebe above them had the same idea, quickly floating away before it was noticed by any of the Pokemon below.

Myrr freezes up for a moment, her eyes firmly locked on the attacker. It had a pretty sizable bit of nature in its grasp, definitely enough to harm her and the Pokemon next to her. How did it even get that tree out of the ground, it must be really strong. Myrr shakes nervously watching it. Wait. She looks around, it seems the Treeko had decided to start making its escape away from the very immediate danger of the Pinsir and left her behind.

Myrriou yells at the Treeko as it starts making its escape, sprinting off in the same direction, determined to not let it leave her behind "You better not be thinking of leaving me, you hear!"

"Then you better get those legs moving!" the Treecko called back. He turned his head back, seeing the Pinsir through the tree towards the pair. Gauel's eyes widened as the tree sailed right over his head, the branches beginning to scrape against the ground as it passed him. The mass of wood ended up slamming into another tree, forcing it to turn sideways.

"Why is a Pokemon like this left alone so close to a town!?" Gauel said as he skidded to a stop in front of the fallen tree. Looking back again, he saw the Mawile catching up to him, with the Pinsir hot on their tails as well. Gauel groaned, turning to run parallel to the tree. This day was not starting off well at all.

The Treecko looked back to the Mawile, "Hurry up! I'm gonna try to block it!" he called out. Skidding to a stop once more, Gauel held his hands together, a green ball of light growing between them as he spread them apart.
