Veiled in Shadows

My Precious Scarf! Mission Info:

The trees started to grow larger and more frequent the further into the forest the pair of Pokémon went. With that, the canopy above became fuller with less holes, letting in less and less light. In the Pecha Forest, the sunlight was filtered through some leaves, but not enough to really darken up the place. But Shadowhue Forest? It was an entirely different beast altogether. As barely any light managed to get through the thick foliage, the ground was shrouded in shadows with some of the darker spots looking like there was nothing but complete blackness. Who knew what could be lurking in there... But the forest was deathly silent with just some very soft footsteps treading on the patchy grass, barely even audible except to the pair that was causing them.

Varda hopped along, finding it very easy to keep going forward when the ground seemed like it had some kind of road. He didn't have the best sense of direction, oh no, and while the paths and roads in this forest were clearly less traveled, some still existed as Pokémon had walked here before. Occasionally the bird would take a look at the smaller mouse-like Pokémon by his side, smiling happily as if there were no worries in that little head of his. Indeed, the Swablu wasn't afraid of the dark at all. That might have been one reason why he had agreed to help the smaller Pokémon out, as he had been to the forest before and didn't find it very scary at all! He was certain he could help...
"It's a bit dark in here, but I'm sure we will find the scarf if we keep our eyes open!"

Joey watched as Varda seemed to fall over to his side and onto his back. Stating that everything is fine. However, to Joey he did not seem fine at all. "But, you just got hit by those spores... And really close to that other pokemon too!" Joey said trying to reason with the cotton bird pokemon. This can't be happening... He must be poisoned... Joey thought with obvious worry across his face.

"Please, just take the berry... It won't hurt you if you didn't need it." he pleaded with the fluffy bird.

((Yes, lets continue for a bit...))

Varda continued to lie on the ground with his gaze up in the canopy, his legs slowly twitching as he seemed to be doing... Something with them, extending the legs and pulling them back closer to his body occasionally. He didn't really move any more than that, just letting the poison go through his body like it normally did.
"Yees. I got hit," the bird chirped, not even trying to deny what Joey said, having seen the attack that clearly had poisoned the Pokémon. While the Pichu was right and a Pecha berry wouldn't hurt him if he ate one, he still shook his head slightly – well, as well as he could without a visible neck as he was lying on his back.

"It doesn't hurt, but if there's more poisonous Pokémon around here, we might need more of them. It's not a good idea to use them all right away, right?" The Swablu cooed how he saw the situation, smiling happily as he looked at Joey,
"I'll be fine soon! I just... Need to rest a bit. Maybe you could see if there's something nearby now that we have to stay still for a moment..."

Joey sighed as he put the berry back in his bag. He just hoped this was the right decision, as he was always taught to treat poison as soon as possible. "Fine... If you feel worse, you are eating the berry." Joey said as he crossed his arms as he went to search around the area for a moment.

The forest still being incredibly dark, there were a few spots where he would have to light it up a bit, Just to see what was there. Using his little charging ability to emit sparks from his cheeks when he needed. He came across a spot that had two apples that must of fell from one of the trees, as it was sitting on top of one of the bushes. He picked the apples up and put one of the apples in his bag for now. Taking the other one and began to eat some of it for an extra boost in energy.

Joey turned towards the cotton bird pokemon to see if he was doing alright, which at the moment seemed that at-least he wasn't any worse condition. Joey then made his way back to Varda as he just noticed something to the side of his vision as one of the sparks that flew off his cheeks shown something... Something he failed to notice before. The color he was looking for. "I think I found something!" he said with excitement.
((For roll, any pokemon can be assumed hostile depending on how intimidating they look/shot))

"Okaay!" Varda chirped awfully cheerfully as Joey more or less was going to force him to eat the berry if the bird didn't feel better soon – something he could agree with, but he was certain it wouldn't come to that. At that point he was only going to have to assume that things were really bad and he did need the Pecha berry, but... He was certain everything would be find just like it always had been in the past! The Swablu might have been one to get sick easily, but he also had always been able to get better quite quickly – a fact of life that probably was the reason how he had managed to survive this far.

The bird Pokémon took it easily as his friend explored, trying to keep an ear on the Pichu but he found focusing on things to be quite difficult. He felt a bit queasy. His eyes managed to pick some shapes in the shadows up above, and some flashes of... Well, it looked like some kind of string that was barely visible normally, but when the very few slivers of sunlight managed to hit it, it seemed very shiny, though thin. Some kind of very large Pokémon seemed to be climbing up in the trees, two very similar ones it seemed. It almost seemed like one of the spider-like bug things noticed him too as the two locked gazes, causing the spider to start descending from above...

Joey's voice caused Varda to snap out of it and look around him, finding his body to have enough strength to roll over and get on his feet now. Indeed, it looked like he was starting to feel better without the berry after all. The Swablu started to waddle in the Pichu's direction, looking quite excited.
"Oh, oh, what is it? Where is it?"

Joey shouted back to Varda stating over here. Trying to use his voice to show where. He had absolutely no clue that the area was surrounded in web as it was completely invisible from where he was. The light did not reflect off it from his point. Being the perfect trap for the tiny little pokemon.

He began to run towards the pink ribbon, failing to notice the spider pokemon above him. They didn't cast much of a shadow due to the place already being a shadow infested forest of darkness. He started running towards the ribbon. The fine web surrounding the entire area.

((The item will be a defense scarf for the humor *giggling* also... You can determine if Joey gets caught in the web. [Have him walk into one of the lines of it. However, I prefer that as an exit point of your post so I can post the reaction]))

Varda looked in the direction Joey was pointing, squinting hard as he tried to see what it was. It was so awfully dark... But finally, he perked up and opened his mouth in excitement as he saw it. Something pink, something that very well could have been a scarf peeking from between some leaves in a bush. Could it be? Had they found it already? The bird felt quite optimistic, certain that they had an excellent chance of it being exactly what they needed! How happy he was that they were going to make a client happy so soon...

The Pichu already dashed off to retrieve the scarf and the Swablu was hardly unable to contain his excitement either. He started to waddle after the mouse, not quite as fast as his new mission buddy, but he tried keeping up. As the bird opened his wings slightly as he hopped over a twisting root in his way, he suddenly felt some tugging on his wing feathers. Stopping and pulling his wing, he realized that it was as if it was stuck on something invisible. It was some... Very thin and sticky string...?

Varda remembered. The spider-like Pokémon up above and the series of pretty strings in the air, something that just had to be a web. If it reached all the way down here, then maybe...
"Oh um, Joey, I think there might be–" the bird tried to warn his friend, but it was too late...

Joey looked back as he continued to run, "What is i-- AHHHH!" Joey started to ask however he immediately got caught in a web. He look up and saw the two spider pokemon climbing down. "no no no no NO NO NO!!" he started panicking as he began to frantically charge up his energy... He attempted to send bolts of energy through the web towards the pokemon. The pokemon seemed to jump to the next web as the energy went across the web Joey was on.

Joey noticed this and frantically tried to get free of the web. "I AM STUCK! VARDA!!!" he shouted towards the cotton bird pokemon, hoping that he would be able to help.

Varda grimaced slightly as the Pichu ended up getting stuck in the web he had tried to warn the Pokémon about. Oh, if he had just been a bit faster, they could have avoided all this! There was no time to lament about it, as Joey was panicking and struggling in a way that only seemed to make the large spiders hungrier, considering how they seemed to be approaching faster. The bird pulled his wing and tested the string of web stuck to him, and it certainly felt sturdy to a Pokémon his size...

Then he noticed it. The spike he had pulled out from that one Pokémon, it was still on the ground. While a spiky hardly had a proper cutting surface, it clearly was very sharp... The Swablu quickly hopped over to it, forcing the thread to stretch as far as he needed before grabbing the spike with his beak and using it to cut himself free. And somehow, it worked!

Free, Varda hopped into the air and used his wings to gain a lot of speed, holding the spike with his beak pointed sharp tip forward. Once he approached the web Joey was stuck in, he tucked his wings in as an attempt to not get stuck in the web himself and burst through as he tried to cut as much of the web as he could so the Pichu could escape. But it was taking too long! Hoping that Joey was free enough to move at least a little bit, the Swablu dropped the spike nearby so his friend could continue cutting himself free if needed.

"Try to get free!" The bird chirped to his friend before swooshing upwards and going after the large spiders himself to buy them some extra time.

Joey continued his struggle until Varda flew over towards him with the spike he previously acquired in his beak. Sliced through some of the strands of webs that Joey had got caught in and dropped the spike in front of him.

Joey grabbed the spike as Varda stated to try to get free, silently complying, he first attempting to pull away from the webs. Most of which did get cut it seemed however a few webs he was caught on still held strong. He began to try and slice those as the pokemon descended from above. He looked up as he cut a few more strands, only having about 2 still holding him. One of the spider pokemon got close enough to bring worry to the pichu. "Back off!" he shouted as he shot a bolt of energy at the pokemon. It only seemed to hiss at him as it shot a web towards him. By then though he had broken free of the other webs and he avoided the the flying web.

Varda soared up into the air where the spider-like Pokémon were, doing his best to avoid the webs. It seemed like the biggest one was around the area where Joey had gotten stuck, which made it a lot easier – though the stray threads of sticky silk were very dangerous due to how difficult it was to see them! But he couldn't give up now, as his friend was in trouble and keeping the spiders away from the smaller mouse was of utmost importance, no matter what happened to him.

But trying to keep two enemies busy at once was proving to be more difficult than expected. While the Swablu was handling one, another one would always keep creeping further down. And when one of the spiders ended up putting up more of a fight, the bird just had to watch rather helplessly as the other got dangerously close to Joey and tried to capture the Pichu. It was such a good thing that the Electric-type Pokémon could defend himself with electric shocks, causing the spider Pokémon closer to the ground back off... Just slightly.

Varda pecked at the spider above, driving it further up into the trees with relentless attacks, swooping from side to side. Having the advantage of flight really helped him there and it seemed like the spider was giving up. But while he was busy, the second spider started to descend after Joey, not having given up completely just yet.

Note to staff: An accident occurred during posting of my next post, I had accidently overwritten this post without a means to recover it. I had been copying the header to the next post each time, however it seems I must of got mixed up with the windows and erased this one. I had talked with Pika, and pika stated since I know the key points that occured in the post, To make a bullet list of each important point. The points are as follows and written in order from what I remember.

• Joey was currently being attacked by an ariados, the one being occupied by Varda.
  
• The pokemon attempted to capture him again, realizing that it was't going to be able to do so easily this time. And instead rushed Joey
  
• Joey had been drenched in a poisonous liquid, leaving him badly poisoned. He did attempt to dodge it, but still got hit by most of this liquid.
  
• Joey, as he got hit had screamed out as he shot as much energy into the pokemon as possible, leaving it paralyzed.
  
• Joey is now down on the ground, feeling extremely ill and unable to move due to being weak from the poison.
  

Varda felt quite good about himself when he managed to drive off the spider, watching how it ran off into the darkness of the leaves. Flying in place, he followed the Pokémon with his eyes for a moment before he remembered that there had actually been two of them – and Joey's scream was a rather chilling reminder of that. Looking in the direction of the sound, he managed to see how the other spider was dangerously close to the Pichu by now. He wasn't going to allow one of those mean Pokémon hurt his friend, so he flapped his wings hard and prepared for an attack!

Of course in his haste, he managed to miss some loose threads of silk dangling from the branches above, his wing brushing up against them and even getting tangled. The sticky mess got everywhere, his very important flight feathers pushed in such unnatural positions that it made flying more or less impossible. The Swablu didn't just drop from the sky, oh no: having build up enough speed, the bird continued to fly through the air, but this time in an uncontrolled manner and he was losing altitude fast. His original trajectory had been good however, so Varda did end up hitting his mark – just maybe not the way he had intended. With rather fast speeds, the little Pokémon ended up smashing right on top of the spider-like Pokémon.


Current Energy: 12 (23 -9 from the enemy encounters with Sky Powder, -2 from the item rolls. No regained energy for the page as Varda was poisoned)

Joey still remaining there on the ground, lying there... Groaned a bit as he heard the cries of the spider pokemon as it got hit by varda... Or better described as, Varda... Crash landing into it. Joey attempted to look towards Varda but found that he had almost no energy to move. "V-varda..." he said softly... as he couldn't shout out to him at this point. I...I can't move... I can't shout for help... What am I going to do... he thought to himself as he remained mostly still.

Varda smacked into the spider-like Pokémon rather hard and slid off on the ground, feeling awfully dizzy after the impact. He had to hit his head there, too... But luckily for him, he had a rather thick head in every sense of the word! The Ariados didn't seem to be so lucky, having been knocked unconscious by the bird bullet and it was now lying on the ground, legs splayed in every direction. The Swablu was forced to spend a moment trying to clear his head and stop his vision from spinning as he sat on the ground.

Joey's voice forced him to break out of it, and he shook his head and got up carefully. The Pichu's voice had been very weak, and indeed... The little mouse was lying on the ground, not moving. Varda chirped and quickly hopped towards his friend as he tried to figure out what was wrong – and make sure the Pokémon was still breathing!
"Oh, oh no," he cooed as he inspected the little Pokémon. What was wrong? Had he gotten hurt during the battle? It didn't seem like there was any – aha! He saw it. The poison still clinging to the yellow fur... It all was so obvious now.

"Ah, I see!" Varda spoke out as he realized it, quickly looking into his bag and digging out a Pecha berry. He kept a few of these handy even though he didn't really need them himself... But it seemed like it had indeed been a good idea for him to not eat one before! The Pichu clearly couldn't handle the poison as well as him, so he might need more of them in the future...
"Here you go!" The bird added once he had managed to get the berry out, holding it closer to Joey's mouth so the Pokémon could eat.

As Varda traversed towards Joey, seeming quite worried about him. Joey felt a bit relieved that his mission partner seemed to have heard him. Joey opened his mouth to bite into the berry as the Cotton bird pokemon put the pecha berry close to him so he could eat it.

Eat bite seeming to take forever, he gradually started to feel a bit better. "urrf, I... I don't... I don't like poison..." he groaned as he slowly sat up and started finishing the berry. He still felt completely horrible though. It just wasn't as crippling anymore.

He then looked at himself, noticing the massive amounts of this purple liquid coating his fur. "What... is this stuff." he said as he wiped a spot with his paw. It seemed to stick there though, only to coat his paw in some of it. He was going to have to find a way to wash it out soon, else he will just get sick again after the affects of the berry wore off.
