So We Meet Again

Lapis finally made it to Grassveil, although the hustle and bustle of the town bothered her. It was far busier than Rainfront, with Pokemon literally crowding the streets at times. It may have been a slight exaggeration, but the tiny Goomy wasn't used to this many Pokemon in one place. One misstep, and she could be stepped on, squished, the Pokemon would slip on her slime, and she would be to blame... It would be best to stay in the grass and out of the streets, but she also didn't want to look antisocial, as that calls unwanted attention. There were so many Pokemon she couldn't identify. If only there were a Goomy she could get along with...

Luna tried her best to navigate the streets of Grassveil. It was definitely very difficult not to get stepped on, and this was more busy than her old town. Shaking her head in annoyance, she tried her best to keep going, weaving around the feet of taller Pokemon. 'Jeez.... this is worse than during the great stampede of bug types!' The Goomy thought irritably. Her short height was not very helpful in the slightest, so she couldn't see where she was going, except for right in front of her.

Lapis squeezed her way out, doing her best not to enter the path of a passing Pokemon. She finally made it out, and thank goodness she did... In the grass, a shop to her left and right, the blue Goomy sighed her relief heavily and flattened her antennae to her head. This wasn't going to be easy. She came here to start a team, and now she could barely go through the crowd, much less talk to anyone. What kind of idiot was she? She didn't think things through nearly enough...

When Lapis looked up, she noticed the taller Pokemon stumbling around something in the middle of the road. She narrowed her small pupils to try and catch what was going on. Maybe there was a rock there she didn't notice, or somebody fell and no one bothered to help the poor Pokemon up, but then she caught a glimpse of purple... An antenna, which meant. Lapis gasped her glee and tried her way around the streets by ways of grass, so she could call out towards the fellow Goomy, hoping the other would notice.

Luna suddenly thought she heard the voice of another Pokemon calling to her. Turning, she saw a familiar Goomy, but she couldn't quite place who it was. "Uhm... Hello?" The Goomy called back, relieved that one of her own species was here. This was a bit more comforting, but there were still Pokemon tripping all over her, so Luna tried her best to make it over to the other Goomy.

"Come here! Try not to get squashed..." Lapis suggested, sliding forwards slightly to offer help. That was when she recognized the face of the Goomy as eventually, the crowd began going around the fellow species stuck in the pathway. "Luna?"

Surely it had to be Mayor Goomy's daughter. It couldn't be mistaken. Pokemon of the same species had a better ability of telling each other apart, because they had the ability to tell themselves apart, which was a curious adaptation, but entirely sensible. Lapis was surprised her friend from the old town hadn't noticed her yet, but perhaps it was because of the dye and new wings that Luna didn't notice.

What drew so many Pokemon to the town at such a time, anyway? Was there some sort of event that they were all going to? It was known for Pokemon to play sports that were very popular, but not this much so. Was it some sort of universal gathering, or was it always like this?

"Lapis?" Luna gasped. Lapis was here? in Grassveil? How in Arceus' name did this happen?! Surely Lapis was supposed to be in Rainfront town awaiting her adopted family, right? "I can't believe it! It's actually you, after all this time..." Luna said, still quite astonished. Moving forward out of the corwd, she was soon next to her fellow Goomy.

Lapis smiled upon hearing her own name. The following excitement was even more proof, if her familiar voice wasn't enough to ensure the blue Goomy that her old buddy came all this way.
"I'm surprised you didn't hear about the family agreement. I thought for sure my adopted family would make it one of those instant rumors that spread, like all rich families deal with. I guess not, because they have so many servants."

Either way, if Luna knew or not, it was pretty great to see the daughter of the mayor again. If Luna ever went back to the Goomy town, she could tell her father how she was doing. Maybe some of Lapis's other friends could come down, too.

"I guess it just didn't reach me..." Luna said with something close to a shrug. Honestly, the Goomy was still really surprised and shocked that Lapis was here in Grassveil. No word had gotten to her about any sort of family agreement, so Luna didn't exactly mind. Thing was, didn't Lapis usually greet her adopted family in Rainfront when they returned? If so, why wasn't she in Rainfront and not here?

Lapis laughed upon what Luna said. Nothing goes through the town without going through Luna. She knew everything and everyone, being the daughter of the mayor, after all. She patted her buddy on the back with an antenna and continued to explain.

"So I've decided as a sort of hobby, to join an exploration team in between their monthly visits. No harm done, right?" she said with a continued smile.

Luna smiled. "Brilliant idea! It'd be ok if I joined you on it........ right?" She said the last part with a little uncertainty. The dragon type wasn't sure if Lapis would be ok with that.... if she was, then that was great, but the Goomy wasn't sure how her old friend felt about what she had just said.

Lapis tilted her head-like structure with a look of uncertainty.
"As awesome as that would be, I'm not sure how possible teammates would think of two of the same species on their team. If all goes well, then of course! I'm actually just about to go to the Pond to find someone there, since there's no use in this crowded place..."

"Ooh! Ok. You don't mind if I come with you, do you? I need to find my way around this place a little...." Luna responded. It was good to know that Lapis was considering it, because the Goomy had gotten very confused on her first day here. What with all the taller Pokemon and all.... That didn't matter now, though, because Lapis was here, and they knew each other, and maybe the other Goomy could show her around a bit when it was less busy..

Lapis returned her antennae to their original position.
"I don't mind at all, but I have a feeling Pokemon may think we're already part of a team. You can come, I guess, but we gotta make it look like we don't know each other. Maybe even come in a little later after I find someone to form the team with. Then maybe you can request to join in afterwards."

If two of the same species went into one place, everyone would think they were a team. Lapis knows this, because it's a natural recurring thought. If she saw two of the same species conversing, she would probably instantly think they were relatives.

Luna nodded. "Understood." She said. The Goomy got what her friend meant. If a few Pokemon saw them come in together, they might think they were relatives or teammates. To be honest, Luna didn't want anyone thinking that at the moment. The dragon type knew how awkward that would be, and would prefer if it didn't go that way.

The blue Goomy blinked and smiled.
"Perhaps we have some catching up to do before I leave. How have you and your family been? Before I left, I think your father was thinking about building a new part of the town. Wasn't it near the territory of those bug-types?"

As much as Lapis loved her old town and friends, she couldn't refuse the offer to come with her family to Rainfront and their vacation home. She fell in love with Rainfront all too easily, but it was worth the stay, now that an old friend had come.
