Missing Diglett - Team Sentima's Second Mission!

Another mission in Pecha Forest- and so soon after their first one finding the Mysterious Gummi. Unlike the previous mission, however, today was not sunny. It was in fact raining, and perhaps even trying to hail. Fall was a wonderful time of the year. One day there's a perfect sun-breeze-shade ratio, and the next day everything is cold and miserable. Fortunately for Leif, rain was another form of water the he found to be tolerable, along with puddles and mud.

He recalled their previous playing I Spy and, as fun as it was, there were only so many good things to spy in this forest. Ideas raced through his head, but there was one he liked in particular. An item hunt, to see who could get more items than the other before the end of the trip. He would bring this idea up later.

Leif had his Defense Scarf equipped, so he could save energy when he was encountering pokemon. But because of the cold weather and utility uses, he was also wearing his Special Band and Red Ribbon, but was not reaping their effects. "So, Sova, how is that cut healing?" he inquired. Enough time passed that he had cleaned his respective articles of clothing of their blood.

Leif listened to Sova's plan. "I'm glad to hear you got it figured out! I think you chose really good reasons too. It definitely sounds like it'll be the most enjoyable, both off and on the battlefield. I know my ice punch has been useful countless times. I can only imagine how strong a Glaceon's Frost Breath or Blizzard would be." He thought about it, and had the idea flash in his mind of combining his Ice Punch and Sova's Frost Breath for a terrifying attack.

Leif thought about going back to the Frozen Stream, "Well... yes, but this time we have to be prepared. Bring Oran Berries, Apples, and Sitrus berries if you have them. We're gonna need all the strength we can get. I don't want another accident to happen like last time..." he sighed, "Just make sure to keep your energy up, right now we can't afford to be exhausted in a place like that. Maybe once you evolve into Glaceon, you'll be safe there, but I really must be careful in the cold."

He thought more about evolution, "I feel like I might be getting close to evolving myself. Once I do the first time into Kadabra, we should look for a link box so I can become an Alakazam."

Sova had been saving his items in anticipation for the occasion of going back to the Frozen Stream, so it wasn't a big worry to him. "Don't worry, I've got some items set aside for it. But I don't see why you're worried about your self, you were doing fine at the Frozen Stream until I showed up...." He still felt a bit guilty for what had happened to his friend.

"You can....feel when you're close to evolving? Is that how normal evolution works? I wouldn't really know, obviously, since I have to have special situations in place...." He said, not acknowledging the mention of getting a link box, though he had already silently decided he would be more than happy to help.

"Alright. Well... It's not your fault. Being in a cold place like that is dangerous, so regardless of if you showed up or not something probably would have happened to me. I'm just thankful you were there to save my hide." He probed through his bag. Stun seed. Petrify orb. Oran berry. It wasn't quite all that he had hoped for, maybe another apple or oran berry. Such difficult place would surely call for some better preparation.

"And well... Im not sure. It's hard to explain. As I train I can feel myself getting stronger normally, but it's almost like... a sort of build up? I don't know, I haven't actually evolved before, but my best guess is the feeling of getting closer to evolving. I don't have any other explanation." Leif hadn't been too concerned about not addressing the link box. He'd have plenty of time to worry about it later.

As he walked he saw some colors glinting from being wet from the heavy rain, and the faint sunlight that now peered through a small patch of clouds.

Getting lost in the conversation, Sova almost forgot they were there on a mission. But he didn't see the Diglett or any sign of it anywhere, so he figured they could continue talking for a bit. "Well, I'm glad I was at least there to help...." He still couldn't help but feel guilty for Leif's amnesia, but what good would dwelling on it do?

"I guess I probably won't get much of a warning when I evolve, since I'll be using a stone. But hey, if you're close to evolving, maybe we should focus on that before going back to the Frozen Stream." He said before noticing a Tangela crossing the path they were on. It didn't seem to care about their existence, at least it didn't seem to be planning to attack, it was just walking along the path. "Hey, maybe we can ask that Tangela about the Diglett. It looks friendly."

Leif shrugged, "Well... I don't think I'm that close. Honestly I think finding your stone is more important. I'm going to evolve twice, and until I do the first time my link box won't even be relevant. Who knows where you even find a link box. But it's pretty safe to say we can get your stone to evolve into Glaceon at that frozen stream."

"Oh, uh, sure..." Leif said, as he pocketed two sticks and a blast seed, approaching the tangela. "Hello... um, would you happen to know where a Diglett would be?"

The tangela didn't respond. Leif said so a bit louder, walking closer "Hello! Do you know where a diglett would be?"

It jumped a bit, seemingly startled. Apparently it had been daydreaming or something... "Ooooh a diglett? It's funny you ask, I just say a diglett going that way in a big hurry." it pointed down the path.

"Thanks." Leif said, picking up the pace of his steps, ushering Sova to follow. "Come on, I think we've almost found him!"

Finally, they caught a break. "Alright! Finally, we can get out of this rain soon." He ran along the path, eager to get the mission over with and get out of the rain, almost forgetting to thank the Tangela. "Oh, thanks!" He said back to the friendly bystander. It simply nodded and kept walking.

He slowed his pace a bit, not wanting to slip on the wet, muddy ground. Besides, he needed to focus less on running and more on looking around for the Diglett. Or anything else that may have been of interest to him....

Leif saw another falling pineco. As tempted as he was to continue running straight and let it fall in hope of getting more memories back, he knew that that could just as easily go badly. He swerved along the path to avoid his head being hit again. He sighed, thinking to himself, They didn't seem to be hostile usually, but if not annoying I have no idea what these bugs are...

Leif, looking ahead on the path, now clear of pineco kamikaze, thought he saw the client. He yelled to Sova, "I think that's them!" before he began running in the mud, and tripped just as he rounded off the top of a hill. He began sliding and spinning wildly, only narrowly avoiding being hit by trees had threatened Leif by doing little more than exist at an inconvenient time and place. Just as he slowed down, he very dizzily saw something, pointing. "Heeey loook... is that diglett? I can't tell Im sorta... dizzy..."

Sova also noticed the Diglett, however he kept to a manageable pace, not wanting to slip in the mud and get more dirty than necessary. He couldn't help but laugh at his partner sliding around. "Are you alright?" He said, still giggling.

Though he had seen the diglett already, he checked again to make sure it was still there before answering his partner. "Yep, looks like that's Diglett." The diglett wasn't far away, though it wasn't right in front of them either. It appeared to be doing something, perhaps looking for something or talking to someone. It was hard to tell from the distance Sova and Leif were at and from the trees and bushes slightly blocking their view.

Leif brushed himself off, and could now clearly see it was a diglett he had seen, as Sova confirmed. "Y-yeah... I'm fine... just a bit disoriented." he said, placing his hand on a tree for balance. As he looked back to the client he could see another pokemon with it. He ran closer, before he could clearly distinguish one of them was a zigzagoon.

At this point he could see the zigzagoon was becoming violent. It was tackling and scratching ad diglett. He ran at the attacker shooting a shadow ball at it before it simply went though the normal pokemon... Leif had forgot about matching types it seemed. As his last attack was fatal, he leaped at it with an ice punch, and it tackled back at him, causing them both to crash and fall. As they struggled against eachother Leif used an iron tail to spin and send the Zigzagoon off. Leif looked to Sova for support. "Don't worry Diglett, we have this covered. We'll get you home safely."

Sova ran into the battle after Leif, but seeing his ally had it covered, he stayed a bit away to avoid being hit by any attacks. Upon the enemy being knocked away, he took that chance to join into the fight, tackling it back farther away from the diglett. He wasn't paying much attention to Leif and the diglett, more worried about the opponent. It attempted to scratch Sova, but the move was easily detected and avoided. He didn't want to do too much direct combat with the enemy, as it was a bit larger than him and he could already tell it had a better offensive movepool.

It lunged for a tackle, but he avoided it and bit onto the enemy's scruff and pushed it forward to give it a running boost before releasing it, sending it sliding across the mud into a tree. So helpful, right? Sova himself had also slipped and fallen in the mud, but at least he didn't go sliding into a tree. "Ow....Uh....how's Diglett?" He said as he got back up, a bit muddy now, and looked towards the diglett. It seemed fine other than a few light scratches from the zigzagoon.

Leif sighed relief when he saw that Sova had jumped in the battle and finished the Zigzagoon off. Sova had again used strategy to overcome where his movepool lacked. He looked to the diglett, "Are you okay?" and he got a quiet, paniced nod in return. "He's okay. He doesn't seem to be any more scratched or bruised or wet than you and I anyways." He brushed the mud and a bit of blood off, again checking to be sure that the Zigzagoon was down for the count.

He nodded, ushering everyone to get moving, "Well, we aren't getting any more safe by standing here in the rain. Let's get you back to Grassveil, alright Diglett?" Again all he got was a paniced nod. Maybe he would be more open to talk when he was safe, but for now he seemed to be more hurt emotionally from being lost than he was hurt physically by being out in the rain and briefly attacked.

"Good to know Diglett's not hurt too bad." Sova said, relieved. The rain was actually starting to let up a bit, finally, but the thunder and lightning was sticking around. He began walking back along the path they took to get there. "Well, let's go then."

At least it would probably be an easy walk back, they knew the way back after all....oh wait, no they didn't. "Leif....We don't know the way out. You teleported us to a random area of the forest." He whispered to Leif, trying not to let the diglett hear and get worried.

"Yeah..." Leif was glad they didn't have to carry the diglett back... but what would that be like anyways? What was the diglett like underground? Did it have feet? Was it just a hand? It was the eternal mystery. He had the fleeting feeling that he wished the diglett fainted to know what diglett actually looked like underground. He shook the thought out of his head, beginning to walk. "right."

Leif froze in terror as he realized they were lost. He stood there petrified for a moment before blurting, "I have an idea, you're going to have to trust me on this..." he grabbed onto everyone, then tried teleporting to... somewhere. It was another part of the forest. No, try again. This looked like an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT forest, but he didn't want them to see, so he teleported again, back in Pecha... okay, this was getting frustrating.

He tried again, and they landed at a beach. "No..." he said to himself, not wanting to worry anyone. he tried again, and they were in the complete darkness of the cave. Again back in the forest, another unidentified area. Leif nearly shouted angrily, but instead teleported into the air, as they began to fall. He teleported one last time, and they had found themselves back where they started... with an entrance clearly visible to the right. They were at the entrance all along. "Uh... here we are..." he said, hoping nobody noticed that he had teleported them without realizing they were already at the entrance in the first place.

Before Sova could protest to the teleportation, he was grabbed up and teleported to a random area. And another. And another. Where were they this time? Perhaps given time he could have recognized the areas, but time was not given. Eventually they ended up back where they started. Leif had teleported them around before they could even look around the area for a possible exit, and it was now clear that there WAS an exit. All that teleporting around for nothing.

"Yes....here we were....here we are again...." He said in an agitated tone as he walked towards the entrance. "Well, lets go then."

Leif laughed sheepishly, "Uh... yes, the sightseeing tour is over. We hope you enjoyed the ride." he said walking to the exit. The diglett now seemed to be only more speechless, be it from terror of a reckless Abra, the sheer stupidity, or the terror of being so far off the ground, his eyes said that he was not thrilled by Leif's antics or the joke he made out of the accident.

He sighed, feeling that his joke fell flat. He went a bit quiet feeling embarrassed, before speaking up, "Well, looks like we're right about there. I guess now we just need to head back to Grassveil and collect the reward. And get out of this darn rain." Just as he said so, like a jinx, the rain lifted, and the sun began warming the area.
