Silverdawn slithered along the forest floor, the dry leaves on the ground whispering and crackling under her belly. She had left that awful town full of stupid pokemon and even some of those horrible psychics, to find a dungeon to collect wares for the shop that she hoped to open soon. Her tongue flickered out of her mouth, tasting the air for any scent of another pokemon. She could feel the vibrations of the forest underneath her, and she stopped, closing her eyes to the dim shadows of her sight. She enjoyed this, listening to the tremors of the earth, that told her so much in comparison to her weak sight and hearing.
Suddenly the temperature dropped. She could feel the heat from the sun fading, but she could feel no vibrations in the earth. What was going on? She twisted her head this way and that, tongue flickering out frantically, not trusting this sudden change in her environment. She braced herself, ready for an attack at any moment. She just knew, without proof, that something was out there, watching her.

| Silverdawn glared at the Gengar as he burst into laughter at her words.
"The Distortion World...", he chuckled. "I was born there. I have lived there. I can move to and from it at will. I am completely and absolutely immortal. There is absolutely nothing awaiting me after I die and thus it can be completely ruled out as any sort of motivation."
Silverdawn sniffed, angry at herself for not thinking about that herself. The Gengar continued talking,
"When I was young...well, younger - I still was older than you will ever be I assume - I was chased out of the very village I lived in. I did absolutely nothing wrong, but they feared me. They chased me into these woods, where I lived in isolation for many, many years. Then finally I managed to gather the courage and try again. I wandered into Grassveil Town and befriended a Pokémon. We were planning to sign up for the guild, but in the middle of the process she panicked and ran away, leaving me to return to the forest. The exact same thing happened again later. But after so many trials and tribulations I finally had found an accepting, caring, loving team. My reason for helping you in particular is that I do not wish for anyone to suffer the same way I did. But in general there is no reason to hurt others, so why should I not be kind instead?"
Silverdawn opened her mouth to reply, but she cut herself off with a cry of pain, her eyes burning, watering up. She closed them and shook her head. Great Arceus, that hurts! she thought. She lowered her head to the ground, rubbing her eyes against her belly scales, but it only seemed to get worse. She let out another cry of pain. She did not know it, but the Nidorino had caught a slash of one of his poisonous spikes across her eyes, the toxin leaking in. Though Silverdawn was a poison type, her eyes were her most sensitive part of her body, and the toxin that Nidorino excreted was so different from her own that her body was rejecting the venom, causing severe damage to her eyes.

| Patiently the Gengar waited for a response. Most Pokémon took quite a while to find the words to respond after having been subjected to his story. So he would give the Ekans her time. Suddenly the Poison type in front of him winced in pain, her eyes tearing up all of a sudden. This certainly was neither the reaction William expected nor the one he had hoped for. What was the matter now?
"Uh, are you okay?", the Ghost type inquired. "No, scratch that. That's an idiotic question. Obviously you are not. What is wrong? And what can I do to help?"
It was plain to see, that this Ekans was in quite some pain, so hopefully it was something, that would be gone again soon. William really did not want to see an innocent Pokémon suffer. What could he do to help alleviate the pain?

Silverdawn didn't answer at first, whimpers escaping from her throat. "I-it's m-my eyes," she gasped out. "I... I think t-the Nidorino got them..." she was struck by another wave of pain, and she writhed, her spine arching. She fell to the ground, unable to keep herself up anymore.
"P-please..." she whispered, remembering another time that she lay on the ground, begging for help. Her mother had sneered at her and her father had used his tail to flip her away, causing more damage in the end. "H-help me..." tears leaked out of her damaged eyes, tears of pain and tears of grief for the life she should have had.

| The Gengar's expression darkened significantly. This certainly was a serious matter that had to be addressed immediately. FIrst one would have to take care of the pain for the Ekans' writhing while understandable would end up causing her more harm than good. Once more the Ghost type's eyes began to glow in an eerie red coupled with him humming an ominous, strangely soothing melody. Making the Poison type fall asleep would both stop the pain for now and alleviate the trouble of transporting her. When finally the serpentine Pokémon collapsed on the ground, kept asleep by the Gengar's attack, William let out a sigh as he lifted the Ekans up. carrying her limp body on his shoulders. With one leap he jumped up in the air and floated directly towards the guild of Grassveil. Feverishly the Ghost type hoped that they would be able to help his newest friend.
