Lost in the caverns

Tom looked around, trying to look in the dim light. "By Arceus..." Tom sighed. "I'm lost. Again." Similarly to the last time he got lost, the Totodile walked up to the cave wall and bashed his head against a wall; it didn't do anything to help, but it did blow off some steam. "Damn it! I just wanted to train, not get myself lost here!" Tom groaned and placed his head in his hands. He was in despair; at least there was light in the Shadowhue Forest, and some tracks to follow. A groan escaped his mouth. "I'm so freaking screwed..."

Nate had been walking through the cave, deciding to check out Rainfront town. Grassveil just seemed to be a bit...bland at the moment. He had also perfected a slight trick he taught himself, creating some sparks around his cheeks to cast a small bit of light. He suddenly heard a banging noise, followed by some groaning. "Hello?" He called further down the cave.

Tom glanced in the direction of the voice. He recognized it, somehow... "Hi! I'm over here!" Tom started walking in the sound's direction, looking for the source, when he saw a light. "Light!" Tom grinned and walked up to the Pikachu. "Hey! You're the one who helped me out a while back, right? You and Starfire, I think. What's your name again?" Tom smiled, finally happy that someone (that wasn't feral, of course) had found him. "Anyway, I'm... completely lost here. I came to these caves to train, and now..." Tom sighed. "So, what're you doing here? On the way to Rainfront?"

Nate was surprised to see the same totodile from before in the cave. "Hey! Yeah, your name was Tom, right? And mine's Nate, just for the reminder." He responded, smirking. "I was just going to stop by Rainfront to check it out, yeah. Where were you heading when you got lost?" He asked, curious about where Tom was going, and also happy to see he seemed calmer then he was before. Of course he had time to recover, but still.

"I wasn't actually heading anywhere. I just figured that there would be some interesting stuff here, and this place would be a good place to train." Tom looked around, aided by the light given by the sparks on Nate's cheeks. "Regret that now, though. I've been here for about 5 hours, and I have no idea how to get back. So, you're off to Rainfront? Do you have enough supplies? I heard the trek lasts 2 days minimum, usually three, if you don't get lost."

Nate opened his mouth to speak, and thought for a moment. He had made trips with close to no supplies before, but he didn't know his way through the caves, was currently alone, and Tom was lost. "I guess not. I'll just have to head back to Grassveil then. Want me to help you back?" He asked, and then heard a noise coming from somewhere in the cave.

"YES! Thank you!" Tom grinned at the Pikachu, unaware of any noise in the cave. "You have no idea how grateful I'd be if you- Agh!!" Tom winced as he felt something bite on his shoulder. "Get off!" The Totodile pushed the offending zubat onto the floor. "Son of a... Damn..." He started rubbing on his shoulder. "Try this, you asshole!" A spray of water left Tom's mouth and hit the zubat square in the face, forcing it to land. "Yeah!" Tom grinned at the bat. "I'm getting so sick and tired of you guys..."
Tom's complaints were cut short when an unbearable high pitched sound emitted from the bat's mouth. "Agh!" The Totodile started flailing his hands everywhere, scratching at everything nearby."In the name of Arceus, make it stop!!!"

Nate watched everything happen, caught off guard for the moment, but came back to when the high pitched noise was let out by the Zubat. "Arceus, that's loud." He mumbled to himself, and grabbed his ears to try and stop the noise. He then used a thundershock attack on the pokemon, hoping to make it stop it's attack. "Tom, are you okay?" He questioned Tom, not wanting him to get too injured after the previous incidents.

The reptile sighed in relief as the noise stopped, although he still felt the ring in his ears. "Oh, man, that was LOUD." He readied a water gun and fired it at the zubat, who was still recuperating from the shock.
Except that he didn't hit the bat. The supersonic had affected Tom's coordination and aiming skills, which caused his attack to hit the small yellow rat that had just helped him. "Ah, hell, sorry..." The Totodile held his head in his hands. "My ears are still ringing... Agh!" The zubat had managed to get itself flying and bit down on Tom's shoulder as the duo were distracted. "Why me?!"

Nate was sent back a bit by the Water Gun, and yelled out as he fell on the ground, before quickly getting back up and brushing some of the water off of him. "Yeah...yeah, I'm fine." He responded, sounding a bit off. He went back to paying attention to the battle just in time to see the Zubat bite Tom's shoulder. "It must really like you. Have you been flirting?" He joked, running at the Zubat and using a thunder punch, punching at the Zubat to try and knock it away but also running into Tom in the process.

The zubat finally fell to the ground, unconscious, though this was hardly the end of their problems. Having been accidentally taken down in Nate's attempt to punch the zubat, Tom found himself on the floor. "Thanks, Nate." The Totodile stood up and looked around the dim cavern. "Give me a moment to get over that damn supersonic... Hey, what's that?" Tom pointed out a small item on the floor. "Huh, maybe the Zubat was protecting it?"
Just as he said that, Tom could have sworn that a movement was made near the item. "Or... Maybe not..."

Nate also went onto the ground, making him stop producing light. He got up off of the ground, shaking his head. "No problem Tom, I think I need a minute too." He replied, and noticed something. He wasn't using his sparks to create light anymore, but the area was still giving off some glow. "Careful Tom, I think something's up." He said, starting to walk towards the item and the movement. As he got closer, an ember was fired towards Nate, hitting him directly. What the- Nate thought, and was knocked back a little bit. A Charmander was standing by the item, not looking very happy with Nate and Tom being there.

"Nate! Are you O-Is that a Charmander?!" He looked at the orange reptile, a water gun at the ready. The Charmander, however, expected this and preemptively dodged to the side. "Damn! This guy's supposed to be an easy target isn't he? With that tail flame..."
Suddenly, the Charmander snorted, as if laughing. Except that it wasn't laughing; the orange creature was in fact producing a smokescreen. The black smoke spread around the cave, and went into Tom's lungs. "Agh!" The Totodile coughed. "Stupid *cough* smokescreen..." He was so distracted by the smoke that he didn't notice the orange creature sneak up on him until it's claw had already connected.

By the time Nate shook off the ember attack, he looked up and saw the smokescreen attack. "Tom! Where are you?" He called out, and started to go to wherever he thought was brightest withing the smoke, as he figured that would be the Charmander. He was late as he saw the claw connect with Tom, and felt a sudden burst of rage towards it. "Get away from him!" He yelled, and threw a thunderpunch at the Charmander's head, attempting to knock it away.

The Charmander fell to the floor, twitching as the electricity took it's toll. Tom stood up, holding his bloody cheek. "Th... Thanks again, Nate." He smiled at the Pikachu before glancing at the paralyzed Charmander. "So... what was this guy protecting?" He started walking to the object that had started all of these problems in the first place to find...
A Gray Gummi.
"What. Seriously, what?! This Charmander nearly killed us to protect a gummi?" Tom sighed and left the gummi where it was. "If he struggled so much for the thing, he must have been nearly starving. We should let him keep it."
