In summary: Noci cannot continue without a Joy Ribbon. Nah, not really, but if I want to finally throw Nyx or Mordred into a dungeon, I need to get my hands on one. Yes, yes, I know that it's still an option to go without one, but dang son 5 pages per level? Nah man. I need that ribbon.

As for RP Partners, I've got Mordred the cowardly, one-eyed Scraggy and Nyx the mischievous, distrustful Sableye at my disposal. (RECORDS CONTAIN SUMMARIZED HISTORIES AND PERSONALITIES) Both of 'em are pretty flexible at the moment without any overarching character development fixed, so there isn't much to worry about regarding that. Also, I can't plan growth for squat.
