Breeze
Energy: 16 - 10 (entrance) = 6
Items in Use: None

A mudkip stalked through the grasses at the base of the Pricklemist Hill dungeon. The mudkip was a pokemon known by the name Breeze of the Morning Rain. Breeze wasn't originally from this continent -she had been born on an island many miles across the sea from the main continent.

She was still very new to this land, and was learning as she went along. She was also trying to teach herself how to fight and hunt, since she had been the medicine pokemon of her previous Tribe, and medicine pokemon had been forbidden from such acts, as they were considered to be distracting from the main focus of healing.

But since Breeze had lived in the Tribes, who had all been either carnivorous or omnivorous pokemon, she had developed a taste -and even a need- for meat in her diet. She knew the basics of how to hunt, just by watching training sessions while hiding behind bushes, but she'd never been able to try it before.

Now, on this strange new continent, there didn't seem to be any pokemon around that ate meat, and so she had no one to teach her. So here she was, trying to teach herself how to hunt and get the meal that she was so craving for.

Deimos was further up the hill, laying down in a small clearing. Due to his fur colour, he was able to blend in shockingly well with the mist, making him rather difficult to detect normally through sight. He found the terrain here perfect for him, his natural adaption to mountainous regions being useful for rough terrain, and the mist was a perfect cover for him to use to rest.

His mind was focused on the nightmare he had previously... He'd heard no rumours about her, which could have been either good or bad depending on the context. What concerned him the most was the inability to confirm what it truly was. He was still in a relatively negative mental state, but he'd toned it down a good deal since his last encounter.

Breeze continued her stalking through the grasses. She sniffed the air, but it was hard to distinguish any scents beyond the damp in the air, that overlaid every other scent. She would probably have to rely on the sensory fin on the top of her head to sense any prey in the foggy hill.

She hoped to find something worth catching soon. She was really getting hungry. She'd had a few apples since she'd come onto the mainland, but fruit was nowhere near as satisfying as a freshly-killed barboach or zigzagoon. On the hill, she was more likely to find zigzagoon and the like, but if she for some reason found fish, she'd prefer that.

Standing up within the surrounding sea of white mist, Deimos began walking forwards. He'd sensed something down below, however it wasn't familiar... Nothing like the footprints he had sensed in his previous trips to the misty hill. He understood he had to remain cautious due to the lack of information, any more and he'd just be liable to get himself hurt.

Reaching a ledge with a decent overview of what existed below, he stared downwards into the sea of white, attempting to identify the purpose and location of whatever Pokemon it was.

Breeze
Energy: 6
Items in use: N/A

Breeze scanned her surroundings first with her eyes and nose. When that yielded nothing of interest, she closed her eyes and focused on her sensory fin. The fin on the top of her head could sense changes in the currents of air and water, and thus acted somewhat like a radar, allowing her to know what was going on around her, even with her eyes closed or senses blinded.

Her fin twitched as it picked up something in the depths of the fog. She followed the directions her fin was giving her, lightly stepping through the grass, doing her best to be as quiet as possible. If it was prey, she wanted to take it by surprise! She just hoped that her stomach didn't growl at an inopportune time.

As Deimos carefully scanned what he could see of the ground below, He slowly was having to step forwards to get a better view. As he did, a small piece of earth broke off from the ledge. Quickly moving back, he sensed it rolling down the hill just off course of whatever the creature he could sense was, alongside a slower rolling spherical object.

Realising that his cover was blown, Deimos quickly fled back into the sea of white towards the small clearing. He understood that he left a trail, so instead of trying to actually rest, he merely lay down and faked it, with all movement ceased and his eyes closed. His breathing was quiet, relying on his sensory prowess to protect himself from whatever threat his little 'disturbance' had caused.

Breeze
Energy: 6 - 3 (roll) = 3 + 5 (apple & oran berry) = 8
Items in use: N/A

Breeze halted in her stalk, crouching low to the ground so as to let the tall grasses around her conceal her position. Her wide black eyes peered through the scattered blades of grass, studying the surroundings intently.

Her eyes soon caught the source of the disturbance in the air currents: an apple, slowly rolling down the grassy incline. An irritated huff escaped the mudkip's mouth as she rose from her crouched position to pad towards the apple.

Breeze raised a paw and stopped the apple's descent easily. She looked up the hill, where the apple had come from, her eyes narrowed in thought. Something had caused the apple to fall... perhaps some prey?

Her stomach growled angrily. Breeze sighed, picking up the apple and chomping down on the hard fruit. The sweet fruit could in no way compare to the taste of fresh-kill, but it would nourish her and restore some of her stamina to allow her to keep hunting for prey. After finishing the apple, Breeze continued up the slop cautiously, hoping for prey to reveal itself soon.

Deimos continued to take his rest for the moment, his mind clear of all thoughts and his body completely still within the Sea lot white that surrounded him. The Absol understood that another creature was present and that he couldn't let his guard down if at all possible. He remained focused on his sensory prowess, reading movement advance up the Hill... Heading towards him.

Deimos let out a faint sigh, breaking his cover for a second, before resuming. He could certainly admit it wasn't easy to see amongst the eternal ocean of white around them... He understood why so many spectral beings resided here... And yet the footprints he sensed where physical and unfamiliar. He naturally had presumed it was a new foe, hunting for travellers to bring to harm.

Regardless he wasn't overly concerned for the time being, at least it got his mind off of a certain event, or more specifically, a certain nightmare.

Breeze
Energy: 8 - 4 (roll) = 4 + 10 (oran berry) = 14
Items in use: N/A

Breeze continued along in her hunt and soon found an oran berry, which followed the apple into her stomach. Now she wasn't as hungry, and her energy was restored, but she still longed for the taste of pokemon meat, so she continued searching for prey.

Not long after finding the oran berry, she finally caught a scent on the breeze. She crouched low and began to stalk slowly through the undergrowth, the fin on the top of her head twitching this way and that for any minute changes in the air that might lead her to her prey. She recognized the scent as belonging to a spoink -she'd had spoink before when she still lived in the Tribe of the Raining Moon.

Breeze followed the scent and the directions from her head fin to where the spoink was hopping around, peacefully grazing on the tall grasses of the hilly dungeon. Breeze's mouth watered at the sight, and her eyes narrowed, considering her best course of action.

She didn't like her prey covered in mud or soaking wet, so she couldn't use her two most powerful moves, but she could use a tackle on the spoink, and attempt to break its neck. If she attacked from high enough up and got enough momentum in her jump, it could work!

Breeze manoeuvred herself up the slope from the spoink, being careful not to spook the prey as it bounced around, blissfully unaware that its death stalked it from above. She finally got herself into position, and wriggled her haunches before launching herself in the air, landing on the spoink spot-on.

The prey let out loud squeals of panic and pain as she landed on it, but she quickly silenced it with a paw to its spine, cracking the weakened bones. The spoink went limp beneath her, its cries silenced for good. Breeze then leapt off her prey, pride filling her up. She had finally caught her own prey!

Her mouth watered as she looked at the spoink, and she wasted no further time. She approached the corpse, and bowed her head for a moment, remembering to thank her Ancestors for the sacrifice of the spoink's life, that she might eat. Then she tore into the corpse with her claws and teeth, eyes closing in bliss as she tasted the fresh-kill.

(OOC: Note, the oran berry is actually the oran berry from the previous post that I forgot to remove from the energy count because I didn't actually have Breeze eat the oran berry in the post.)

Carnivores are a Thing? Empty
PostSubject: Re: Carnivores are a Thing?   Carnivores are a Thing? EmptySat Oct 03, 2015 9:09 pm

Taking a moment to shatter his illusion of rest, Deimos took a moment to glance around at the ground below him and that which presided within the clear sector he was currently within. Despite how he'd planned his means of reaction, he needed to reaffirm that the earth present was suitable, that he could call the ground up against whatever this new 'foe' happened to be. As he was prodding the ground here and there with his tail, getting a feel for it's general strength is sensory power felt as if it went into overdrive with a sudden influx.

It had picked up on the brutal activity of the Mudkip, sensing something flying through the air, an entire body pressed into the earth. whatever he could sense being flying... He felt disgusted, having a good idea of what it could be due to having seen something that fit the description before. He was put much more so on edge for the moment, to the point he barely picked up on a small kricketot and Spoink noisily running away from the scene.

As it happened these two young, Feral Pokemon had seen the brutal display the Mudkip had delivered and had begun fleeing as soon as the flesh began to be torn away. Deimos quickly retook his position and recreated his little 'false illusion' and waited. Despite them being Feral Pokemon, he had a good idea of why they were so intent on running... He couldn't sit back, but he couldn't be reckless either... He needed to wait and act accordingly to the situation.

Breeze continued her feeding on the fresh-kill as, unbeknownst to her, feral pokemon fled from the scene every which way, disturbing the Absol lurking around higher up on the hill. Even if she had known, she wouldn't have been bothered by it, sure in her own power and ability to drive any pokemon away were they to attack her.

Plus, she was currently too busy filling her belly with the first fresh meat that she'd had in several moons! She could hardly believe it had been three moons since she'd left the Tribe, but in that time she'd learned a lot, and now she had finally caught prey, all by herself!

Deimos let off a faint sigh, observing as Feral beings constantly fled away. He had remained in wait, hoping to catch the Pokémon as he chased past him after the other Feral beings... But no. It never happened. Deimos shrugged slightly and got up, quietly moving over to where he could get an elevated view of whatever the strange imprint he sensed was... What he presumed to be something horrible. Despite the vast sea of white, what he could see was relatively clear... a bloody scene at that.

Deimos almost gagged at the scene, eyes wide in relative shock. He already had an assumption of what it was due to what he sensed was flying... But it couldn't prepare him for what he saw. He stepped back nervously... Such a scene having shaken him. He was still relatively hidden in the mist of course... That was the one consoling fact of all this, he could escape relatively quickly if need be.

Breeze raised her head from the feast, suddenly alert. Had she heard something in the mists around her? Her eyes narrowed as she looked around, her wariness up. She'd never had to worry about being interrupted as she ate before, simply because she'd always eaten in the safety of the Tribe Camp, but now she was out in the open, where anyone could attack her, which she had forgotten in her famished state.

She then heard a muffled gagging sound through the fog, and her eyes shot to the sound, her head raising for her to sniff at the air. The mudkip didn't have the best senses of scent or even sight, but her fin told her that there was something up the hill from her, backing away from the scene.

She frowned in concern. Was some other pokemon frightened by her? Why would they be frightened now that she had caught her prey? It was certainly common knowledge that once a predator caught their prey, they were done for a while? It was rather a rule. She wasn't about to go on a killing spree, after all.

Deimos cautiously turned around and fell back, unsure of if it would truly be safe to try and interact with such a killer... Whatever it was. Though he had sensed a relatively small form in comparison to what he originally expected, he understood size wasn't an indication of strength. Quietly pulling back to where he was prior, he returned to his prior position and waited.

He knew he couldn't make a move towards it safely. If he could lure it away from any others however... That would be the best thing he could have done. He was a physically strong species, especially in comparison to those small, fleeing Feral Pokemon. Even if it was just Ferals... Lives were lives.

"If you're going to be doing things like that... Do it and take it somewhere else before it gets to... that" He muttered under his breath.

Breeze heard the muttered words through the mist, and stopped, turning her head to the side curiously. "Uh, what?" She asked in confusion.

"Before what gets to what, exactly? I'm afraid I don't understand," she stated simply into the fog. "And, uh, it's kinda weird to be talking to the mist... Can you at least reveal yourself, I can't see anything in this fog. Actually, I'm surprised I caught that spoink with how foggy it is.... guess I got lucky, heh," Breeze chuckled unconcernedly.
