Iron Tail for Bagon and Merry Memories

The archen swallowed as he peered down the seemingly infinite darkness of the Obsidian Crevice's rift. The thought of falling into the eternal pit of despair made him tremble, so he spoke to himself, "It's okay, just have to stay up here and NOT fall into the pit of doom." The archen shook his feathers to try and get rid of of fluffed up they had appeared. If he looked calm and not so frightened, the odds of a pokemon attacking him would become smaller. Pokemon of the feral nature liked scared prey, and Acro did not want to be seen as a cowardly piece of a prey, even though he was cowardly by nature himself.

Crysel shrugged. "Well some are like that. Some are just areas items pop up in. Maybe they are... semi mystery dungeons? I dunno? Its just what I know. I've visited both kinds." She scrambled up a rock and looked ahead. She saw no pokemon waiting, but you could never be too careful. Then she saw something ahead and hopped down. "Stay silent Acro. There is a pokemon up ahead. Don't know if its violent. We should be careful either way."

It was a mere poochyena. The small canine seemed to be holding something in its jaws and scratching at the ground with all of its might. Its head swiveled to the sound of travelers, it flattened its ears in a growl and dropped the item, baring its teeth to protect its precious object. The archen looked at the pup's sharp teeth uneasily, before the pup threw its head back in a howl to pump itself up for the inevitable fight. It wanted to protect its item, and Acro figured that it had assumed that they were there to take it.

(actually kinda hoping this isn't the item because I don't really want to beat up the puppy |D)

Crysel looked at the item as it was dropped. Obviously a TM. Using logic, one would assume the Poochyena would learn it immediately if it was Dark Pulse. Therefore, it had to be a move it could not learn. The likelihood it was Iron Tail was pretty good. "Acro, we are clearly gonna fight. That TM could be the one we are looking for. I think we could take care of the fight first and check it. If its what we are looking for, we take it. If not, we just let the Poochyena take it. Deal?"

"Um...okay..." The archen said uncertainly, what if it wasn't what they were looking for? They would be beating on a poochyena without reason...wouldn't they? The archen decided to throw the moral talk out the door as the poochyena darted towards them with glowing fangs. The Poochyena aimed for the archen first, who was unable to dodge in time and was bitten in the wing, the archen screeched in extreme pain from the Super Fang, and felt his power be drained as his Defeatist ability kicked in. The poochyena released the wing and turned towards the sneasel, ready to strike her with the super fang as well.

You see, the Poochyena made a mistake. The large bird whose colorful appearance that made it an obvious target was not who it should have attacked. It should have attacked the creature with the BOULDER SHEARING CLAWS first. It was obviously not too bright on survival priorities. So right as the dog let go of Acro and turned, The sneasel dashed forward in a blur and slashed at him with a Quick Attack. The blow knocked the pokemon into the wall and hit him hard. "You alright?"

The archen shook his feathers, "Y-Y-Y-Yes..." he spoke even though he was not fine. Due to his ability his attack power had been reduced by at least half. His body was shaken from the attack and the voices were returning.
"Weak!"
"useless!"
They continued with the same old threats that they always used, but were still quite effective. The archen looked at the poochyena to see it shake off some dirt and turn to glare at the Sneasel, obviously enraged by the wound the sneasel had inflicted on its sides, a cut. It was not that deep luckily for the poochyena, and it could still fight. It now not only wanted to protect its item, but receive revenge on the sneasel.

Crysel could see as soon as Acro got weaker very quickly. Though the cause was unknown, she knew she had to make the enemy focus on her. That was why she hit so hard. And that is why she followed with a second quick attack into the wall again. She still expected Acro to help. No matter how weakened, Crysel had the feeling Acro was not one to be a burden to a friend if he could help it. She could only hope he gather his courage quick enough to help her. ARE YA A CHICKEN OR AN OSTRICH ACRO?

The archen's courage returned alright, but came more in the form of rage. He was becoming weaker again, and it was this stupid ability's fault, and that mutt for causing it to occur. A purple flame like aura surrounded, him and rocks flew past the sneasel and smashed into the poochyena, there wasn't much damage done to it, but it was enough for the poochyena to be stunned from being smacked across the face with a boulder. Acro glared at the poochyena grudgingly, but remained silent from the pain of the wound and the weakness caused from his burden of an ability.

That distraction left the Poochyena wide open for Crysel. She delivered her third Quick Attack with precision and knocked the dog out cold. She checked to make sure it was asleep before going over to check the TM. Still unable to read, she took it over to Acro. "Is this what we have been looking for Acro? I don't know how to read."

The archen looked at the TM, reading the words it had to offer. The TM was the same color as the one he had found with George so long ago and even had "TM Iron Tail" in shiny letters. The archen nodded, "Yeah, it's TM Iron Tail..." the effects of his ability were still lingering. Over time, he would recover, and over time his ability would fade, never completely though. It was impossible to erase an ability, and thus it was impossible for him to loose his. He would be forever burdened with it.

Crysel nodded and put the TM in Acro's bag since it was officially his mission to retrieve it and she was only acting as support. "We should get out of here, we have no reason to linger any longer." Crysel began the trek back with Acro, thinking. It wasn't normal for a pokemon to suddenly weaken that fast. Why did that happen to Acro? She was curious. "Hey, you seemed a bit... off after you were attacked back there. Are you feeling sick?"

Acro looked to the sneasel and grew a bit uneasy with embarrassment, "It's....my ability....when I get low on health...my attack drops...it's not something I can change as far as I know of..." the archen spoke. He kept his eyes straight ahead and didn't look at the sneasel as he spoke, he never favored admitting that his ability was a burden. Abilities were meant to help, not hinder. He was probably the only species in the world that had a burden for an ability.

Crysel thought a bit on what he said. An ability that weakened your strength if you were hit enough. That was pretty rough. But... "That must mean you toughen up." She used rocks she passed to sharpen her claws against as they walked and talked. "That disadvantage forces you to have prolonged battles at times. In order to survive, you must have to endure a lot of pain. You may get weaker strength wise, but you stand tough. You even helped me despite your situation. Thank you Acro."

"That must mean you toughen up," the sneasel had said.
'You think?' the archen thought in a bit of annoyance. Then the sneasel spoke on about prolonged battles and just ended up confusing the archen, was the sneasel talking about his defense rising and allowing him to have drawn out battles or was she speaking about training to become stronger defense wise. The archen decided to just let it be and gave a sheepish nod to the "thank you acro" he felt that he wasn't in the place to say "Your Welcome" or to say any thing else, so he remained silent.

Crysel could see Acro was not understanding what she was trying to say. She would have to be more blunt. "Acro, what I am saying is that you are strong in your own way just as you are weak other ways. Yes, you will make mistakes. But you gotta take a look at what you did and improve on it. Its called adapting. Focus not on your mistakes, but how you can improve next time."
