The Spirits Inside

Cars honking, people talking, the city was one big state of organized chaos. Streets were bustling, people were making exchanges for cash, and everything seemed to be perfect in this chaotic city that Corvus was unfamiliar with. The small child was only 13, and yet he had been relocated here to begin his official job after 12 years of training. The boy's face painted a frown as a strange beast walked along side him. Humans here did not flinch at the monster that stood before them, and walked right through the strange beast as if it were nothing but a hologram. They knew it was there, they knew that it too lived, thought, and felt. They were just unafraid. This thing was a Tamed. It was incapable of hurting them unless it was told.

It was only a few moments that he had hopped off of a subway and entered the bustling streets that the organized chaos turned to straight out chaos as a strange long beast with wings flew about the sky wildly. Its movements spoke its angers, sharp, and enraged. This thing was out for blood, as all spirit animals were. The only difference between the beast beside Corvus and the beast in the sky, was that the flying on was solid. The flying one was capable of harming people. The flying one was a threat.

Corvus had been brought here to defend the city, and defend it he shall, but first a hotdog. He certainly couldn't defend the city on an empty stomach and let an unattended hot dog cart go to waste! The beast raged above as the crowd scattered and hid in buildings, awaiting for tamers to come to slay the beast. Corvus enjoyed his hotdog, it was kind of funny seeing how scared the people were, it was just a flying lizard like his. His beast could easily take it out whenever he wanted. He was just too hungry to do much at the moment.

"Corvus...doesn't understand...does Corvus go or does Corvus not go?" Lizard spoke as Corvus examined his own card. The pre-teenage boy could not read the fancy cursive lettering of the card, and instead had to trust what SimCity was saying. The boy looked to the other two tamers, wondering if they would go. If he had received this "order" by himself he would have gone, even though it didn't look official, orders were still orders. He liked these other two tamers though, what were they going to do? He wondered.
The beast beside him merely yawned afterwards as if in boredom, and looked about the restaurant as if giving silent opinions on each person it laid eyes on.

Thea had stopped eating and was staring off into space with her unseeing eyes, apparently frozen in place after listening to what the letter had to say. After a few moments she rose to her feet, feeling her way around the table until she found one of the letters. Not caring whether it was hers or Corvus's since it didn't matter (though it did happen to be hers), she tore the lace open much more carefully than Sim had, and called upon her connection with Synrei. The dragon-like creature gazed down at the paper, having moved with Thea around the table to remain by her side.

Scanning the words just so she could be sure that there was no mistake, Thea frowned in distaste. She didn't like hurting the wild creatures that roamed the land, what made them think she'd purposefully harm one bonded to a human, or the tamer themselves for that matter. There was much more than annoyance contained in her frown, she was physically angry at the president, though she didn't outwardly let it show. There was no doubt that it was real, since it had the stupid man's signature on it, written in the same cursive handwriting in black ink at the bottom of the letter. Her pale blue eyes returned to their former dullness as she finished reading the letter for the second time, looking towards the others but not seeing them.
"It looks like we have no choice but to go. You go against the president, you go against the whole city. Scratch that, the country," she replied quietly, "But this is ridiculous."

Folding the letter and sticking it in his pocket, Sim shrugged as the two spoke, seeming to be over the news already. He was more concerned with the fact that something seemed off about it, and the fact that they were having the only people defending the city from wild spirits fighting one another. Something like that was bound to lead to issues.
"I have to agree on that. I don't see how this could be beneficial to us in any way. But, I guess we'll just have to show up and figure it out from there." He commented, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair. The boy sighed, glancing over at Amynta. She seemed to look somewhat annoyed by the news, but other then that continued to sit still, not showing any other sign of caring about it too much.
"Well, this is something. First day in the city and now this is happening." Sim mumbled, looking back at the other two tamers.

The youngest tamer looked back down at his plate, pondering what this invitation had in store for them in the future. He looked at his own card, "Corvus...is going to go now, so Corvus wont be late, bad things happen when Corvus is late, Corvus thanks you for the meal though."
Corvus was feeling uneasy about this though, he didn't WANT to go. This wasn't signed by anyone he knew to be in command, but like the duo he had met with had said, the man behind the letter was too powerful to ignore. He wanted to get there as soon as possible, and get this over with. He figured it would be easy to ask for directions, or to follow some map. He doubted the others would want to go with him this early though.
