It was a perfectly sunny day at the Grassveil Guild, a smiling mienfoo entering past the threshold of the building and looking around the inside happily. "This was the day She starts on Her goal of being part of a rescue team and helping other pokemon! She is so excited! She can hardly wait!" Despite her enthusiasm, she didn't see any pokemon about this foyer area, so she strode to the stairs and used them to get to the next floor.

Cookie wiggled her tail playfully, leaping behind bush and shrub as if she was stalking a thread of yarn. Her nose picked up the pungent scent of a hardened fighting type--the first Pokemon she noticed upon sneaking into Grassveil Town from the north. Wiggling her back to comfortably align her small bag of bedding and supplies, she crept along the side of the building.

Peeking up at the main entrance, Cookie read the Guild's front sign.

I wonder why a fighting type is in a guild. I wonder what a guild is. she pondered, relaxing her body slightly and slinking up to the door. She quietly nudged her way inside, only to catch a slight glimpse of a Mienfoo strutting up the stairs. Wiggling her tail in anticipation for a pounce, Cookie lifted her head and let out a loud, "Meeeeeow!"

Rain was a little surprised by the sudden loud meow behind her, the soft padding of Cookie's feet and Rain's focus on the guild in front of her part of why she was so surprised. She turned and looked at the pounce ready skitty. Quite an odd little Pokemon. A skitty she thinks? She should introduce herself."

Rain smiled and went back in the foyer, giving Cookie a small respectful bow. A little custom her parents taught her. "Hello stranger, it is nice to meet you. She is called Rain the Mienfoo and She is pleased to meet you." Crossing her arms in a relaxed posture, Rain continued. "May She ask you name?"

"Uh?"

Cookie, still grinning ear-to-ear, tilted her head and sniffed twice. She didn't know who this little lady was talking about--there was only one Mienfoo around. She could smell it. She thought. She could've been wrong. Regardless, she perked up her head towards her new friend (she had instantly decided this, of course) and smiled.

"I'm... Cookie. I'm not food though. Nice to meet you!" She said, in that sort of "I-said-this-joke-every-time-I-meet-someone" corniness. She turned back to the visible Mienfoo and grinned, her putty tail flitting side to side.

In an instant, she leaped foward, offering her tail in a makeshift handshake.

Rain chuckled at the merry enthusiasm of Cookie and take the tail in hand, shaking it firmly. "You have a lovely name." Readopting her relaxed pose, she grinned. "She is heartened to find a friendly face in a new town. This is Her first time away from home and admittedly, She is a little nervous how she will do away from home." Her lovely parents, proud Mienshao and kind, had sent Rain to Grassveil for her, knowing it was what she wanted. After living in such a small community, it was a little overwhelming to come to a town like this one. "Are you a member of the guild? She was just coming to train in it."

Cookie silently gasped.

"Yeah! How did you know? Could you tell by looking at me?"

The skitty darted in a quick circle around Rain, trying to get a whiff of some psychic abilities. How could she possibly know that--

And then it dawned on her suddenly, that maybe this strange Mienfoo was referring to herself with third-person pronouns. She gasped lightly, hoping that her confusion would go unnoticed, and continued to mew.

"Ooooh, ooooh, right okay, yes, I'm new here too, sorry! What is this place? You can train here?"

Rain raised an eyebrow at the strange actions of the pink Pokemon. "Cookie must have been confused by the way She talks. She will not mention it. It is not polite to point out mistakes people make after all."

"Yes, this is the Grassveil Guild. It is a place where Pokemon come to train to become exploration members. So yes, you can train here." Rain looked to the stairs, a little in thought. "She came to hopefully be accepted and receive training as a rescue team member. She wants to help people and be known for what She does..." "And not where She comes from." "What did you come to Grassveil to do?"

"Oooh, rescue. That sounds pretty neat." Cookie traced her front left paw on the ground timidly. Rescuing pokemon? Making a name for youself? Exploring the world? I could get into that, she thought.

"Yeah I guess I'm here for that too!" she said, making up her mind. "Let's go sign up together, Rain!" Without even a scrap of nervousness, she bounded past the Mienfoo and scurried up the stairway. "Let's see who's home!"

Rain was a bit surprised at Cookie's sudden choice to go up and sign up with her, seeing as they just met. However, she just smiled and followed the skitty up the stairs. "Cookie seems like a nice Pokemon. It will be nice to have someone watching her back. Besides, she can't be in a team with only herself, now can she?" The mienfoo quickly caught up and stood next to Cookie on the next floor up. "She wonders where we sign up? Do we look for the Guildmaster directly, is there a sign up board?"

Cookie darted directly to the Bulletin Board, looking at the available quests. She didn't quite understand they were for "members only", but that wasn't exactly going to stop her either.

"Hey Rain, let's do one of these!" She chirped, reading each uncompleted job. "Why don't we just grab one and fix the problem before anyone noticed? That'd be funny, huh?" Her voice picked up a little as she started to become absorbed in the memos on the board.

Rain sighed a little and rushed over, standing by Cookie. "Cookie, we can't do the jobs yet. Only rescue teams are allowed and we are not officially a rescue team yet..." Rain gave the second floor a look around, trying to find an important looking Pokemon who could help them join. "Now who could help us with joining? We want to do this right and make a good impression with everyone in the guild. Then She promises we can do a first mission together. She will even help you pick a mission that will be fun to do." Rain then continued looking around.

An Absol wandered up the stairs and into the room with the bulletin boards. She walked past Rain and Cookie, heading towards the Outlaw mission board. She had yet to do one of these jobs and so Faye had recommended she try and apprehend one of the lower ranked criminals. She stood, pondering which job she should take. They all looked to be quite powerful and scary if she was perfectly honest.

Rain saw the absol and spotted a badge on her, the symbol of a rescue team member. This Pokemon seemed like a good place to start. Rain strode over to her and called out. "Excuse me miss?" Rain gave the absol a small bow before continuing. "She is called Rain and her friend here is Cookie. We wish to join the guild and train to become a rescue team. Could you help us miss...?"

Cookie perked up, her tail flitting faster. She always had trouble sniffing out the peculiar nuances of a dark-type's scent.

"Hi." She chirped at the Absol, with a faux-coyness. "Whatcha doin'?"
