Serious Shinigami Shenanigans

A young girl with pale brown hair tied in a ponytail, wandered down the hallway of the Shin'ō Academy (or as the locals called it: the Shinigami Academy) in her white and red uniform. Her destination was the board upon which the school posted important messages and information. She was incredibly nervous. After taking the entrance exam for the academy, she was about to find out whether or not she had gained a place at the school.

With the board finally in sight, Kiyomi stopped walking all of a sudden. She couldn't quite see anything that was written, but her nerves seemed to have gotten the better of her. What if she didn't get a high enough score? What if she would have to wait to retry the entrance exam? She was never this nervous about anything and it felt unnatural to her. But her mind focused on one thing; if she didn't get into the academy, what if she hurt her friend again?

As these thoughts crept into her already nervous mind, a group of other students wandered past her, evidently headed for the board. Kiyomi stood for a moment and watched, waiting to see what their results were. Judging from the large smiles that were passed around the group shortly after, they had succeeded. With a small sigh, Kiyomi closed her eyes, still standing in the middle of the hall.
"Alright, pull yourself together Kiyomi," she thought to herself, trying to pluck up the courage to move forward, "You'll never find out how you did if you just stand here."

Opening her teal blue eyes and nervously twisting a hand through her wavy, pale-brown ponytail, she took a few steps forward until she was stood in front of the large board. Glancing at it, she scanned all of the pinned up papers, looking for the correct one. Finding the list of students who had taken the exam, she scanned down it for her name:

Shiratori Kiyomi.... Pass

All of her former nervousness evaporated instantly and a wide grin spread over her face as she read the result. The sheet neglected to mention scores, possibly out of respect for those students who had failed, however Kiyomi didn't really care. She had passed!
There was a small note pinned to the entrance exam results telling everyone who had passed to find their name on one of the class lists and prepare for their first lessons. Nodding to herself, Kiyomi began to scan each of the lists, looking for the class she had been put into.

Kiyomi woke again a while later, her time of sleeping nearing that of another hour. With a small sigh, she collected her Asauchi from where it hung upon one of the tree's branches and headed off to her and Rake's first lesson of the day: Zanjutsu.
Reaching the room where they would be doing practical sword techniques all lesson, Kiyomi scanned the area for the target of Rake's mission. He hadn't arrived yet, and apparently neither had Rakeshisu. Taking a seat in the corner of the class, she proceeded to attempt some meditation with her Asauchi before anyone else's arrival. The class's tutor seemed to give her a small nod of approval as he walked in, that she was doing something useful whilst she waited for her classmates to arrive. However, Kiyomi didn't notice, as she was soon fast asleep again.

The night was young and the target was in sight. Rakeshisu had been able to track him down quick enough for it to still be dark on the brink of dawn. He swallowed, remembering the man's intimidating threats to fight him from before. The fear was quickly replaced by a different one, the documents. They had to be kept hidden, their lives at the school were on the line, not only his but his friend's!

Rake took a deep breath and planned his approach, the man seemed to be rather casual and carefree. Rakeshisu had figured that it would be easy to catch him from above and bind him with some Bakudo. The young red haired man held out two fingers and began the Sai incantation, only for his target to turn and suddenly be right in his face! Surprised, Rake fled back a few steps before continuing the spell with what little concentration he had.

"So, you really do want to fight me eh? Stop with the Kido crap and fight me like a man!" the target hollered. The fists of the target swung once more, with Rake only narrowly avoiding them only to get struck by the fists changing course and striking in various places. In a panic, he released Sai upon his target, who made a surprised noise as his massive fists swiveled painfully behind his back. The man struggled to keep balance from the force of his arms swinging around, but was pushed to over to the floor by Rake's foot.

"Now, I know what you are, and you probably know what I am after this little encounter, now you're going to tell me what I want to know. That is if you enjoy having fingers..." Rakeshizu hissed. He did not quite enjoy cutting off limbs when he did not have to, but to his relief the threat was all that was needed. The man talked alright, the fists being useless seemed to have taken all confidence out of him. The target told him everything he knew, until Rake was finally satisfied.

Rake had left the target to fend off the Sai by himself, knowing he wont talk to the teachers because of the nature of the organization the two worked with. The whole incident took less than two hours, and Rake returned to his dorm, checking for the documents once more before returning his blade to its spot and laying on the bed, ready for another sleepless night to prepare him for a sleepless day.


The class had just begun only a moment after Hachūrui returned to class. He did not look to Kiyomi though, he was growing a bit distant due to the lack of sleep. He looked as if he were sleeping with his eyes open. Something was a bit wrong though, the teacher was missing. The students murmured, but thought nothing of it as a substitute walked in, who obviously was not meant for this position and resulted in what was pretty much do-what-you-like hour.

Rakeshisu had kept to himself somewhat, being somewhat dazed from lack of sleep and covered in bruises hidden by his clothes from the fight from last night. He considered himself lucky that nothing was broken, but that didn't mean he was able to ignore the pain he was given from moving the wrong way.
