Elijah's small beginnings

Elijah huffed lightly, wrapping his scarf tighter around his neck and adjusting his bag as he looked up at the building that housed the guild of exploration teams. It had been years since he'd been here, and less time since he'd talked to the guild master. Ever since his mother died of an unknown cause to the Mienfoo, his father had absolutely forbid him to come to the guild. He'd managed to make some time to drop by and say hello to Faye, the guild master every now and then with his time being harbored by "The Reverend" but in the year since his passing he'd been neglecting to come by.

Now he was staring at the open door to the guild, his heart racing as he started to walk into the building. Old familiar faces made him smile, even the lightest bit, from old friends of his youth who knew him as an egg and a hatch-ling. There were a plethora of new teams as well whom made him more excited as he heard their stories. One even telling of how he swore he saw one of those legendary Pokemon. Though his team was blowing him off like it was a myth.

Elijah took his time walking about the guild, exploring and looking at all the old things that he used to know so well. Saying "hello" to old friends who vaguely remembered him, one who thought he even was dead. His blood ran cold as he saw a familiar face though. It was his father, Umbra, looking about and talking to people. Elijah took this queue to find a place to hide, keeping one eye on his father and the other around him to make sure he was safe. Though he figured he wouldn't be found out due to his small stature, the idea that his father was still looking for him after these years infuriated the Mienfoo.

He glanced about, looking for Faye in the guild. He wasn't truly paying attention to his surroundings though, his main focus on that Umbra didn't find him hiding in the guild. He found his refuge behind a wall in a well populated room. Many people talking and chattering about their recent adventures, it was the perfect place to hide. Now all he had to do is bide his time until Umbra left.

Walking through the guild once again, guildmaster Faye found herself chatting with her many friends in the guild. It was always interesting to listen to whatever exciting stories they had brought back home from their many journeys and expeditions, so it had almost become a hobby of the Meganium to make her way through the guild's halls at this time of day, chiming in many conversations on wide arrays of topics.

Between the assorted explorers and rescue teams, a single, black figure was clearly visible, drawing all attention towards it in spite of the guild being full of the most colourful Pokémon imaginable at the moment. It emitted a strange aura of seriousness, making it difficult not to pay attention to the Pokemon. This Pokémon was Umbra, the father of a dear friend of Faye.
As it seemed, he was also talking to the various rescue teams, seemingly looking for something.

However Faye was so absorbed in the story of another explorer, that she didn't even notice him walk past her. And he didn't appear to have noticed her either, having walked past her without stopping.
After the young recruit had finished his obviously fictional narration, the guildmaster still applauded before continuing on her walk.

The Mienfoo behind the wall wasn't noticed at all.

Elijah collapsed on the floor as he saw his father take his leave. The Mienfoo was absolutely relieved that he hadn't been discovered. It was only after a moment's reprieve that he noticed he was in the guild-master's quarters. The walls were lined with various treasures and other things, obvious souvenirs from her adventures that he'd heard about as a child.

Elijah noticed the thumping coming closer to the door, starting to panic that he might be thought of as a thief, he faced the door to the quarters. He was shaking like a leaf, not knowing who was coming, since the last time he'd seen Faye she was only a Bayleaf. Though it slipped into his mind that she could have evolved by this time, the Mienfoo was paralyzed in the ajar door, waiting to see who came in to discover him there. If it was indeed Faye, perhaps he could sign up as a team alone. If not... Well he may be in quite a bit of trouble.

As it was indeed Faye who was stepping through the door of her quarters, Elijah didn't have too much to be worried about. The Grass type closed the door with her vines, not even looking behind herself.
Calmly she made her way to her beloved plants, which were standing on a shelf further into the room.
From the look on Faye's face alone it was obvious, that she was quite proud of her little garden, doing her best to keep every single plant healthy.
It was the same with the adventurers at her guild and every single Pokémon she met.
Faye just wanted for Pokémon to be happy.
As she had her back turned to the Mienfoo, the guildmaster still hadn't realized, that he was there.

Elijah finally spoke up, feeling that he'd not be able to escape from the large Meganium that he knew as Faye. "H-Hello, Guild Master." he said in his soft, quiet voice. Just loud enough for the other to hear as he slumped down to the floor and glanced over at the empty bag.

Elijah was absolutely exhausted now, and could barely concentrate as he waited for the meganium to turn and face him. The mienfoo decided to speak up once again. "I-I... I'd like to create a rescue team... Like My mother was on." he said plainly, trembling a bit in his old friend's presence.

Even though she was slightly startled by the sudden voice, Faye recognized it as Elijah's almost immediately, slowly turning around.
As expected, the small Fighting type entered her field of vision. Happy to see him once again, the Meganium began to speak:
"Hello, Elijah! It's wonderful to see you again! And hearing, that your father has finally allowed you to join is even better! I'm so happy for you! You will become a great explorer! That is something I am sure of. So, are you ready to begin the signup process, dearie?"

Elijah's face went dark as she mentioned that his father allowed him to join the guild. Though he didn't mention it and shook his head, a smile returning to his face as he remembered the sign-up process what he had to deal with. "Y-Yeah... Let's go through the process shall we? I have a lot of time since I left home."

"I'm sure your father will be proud of you!", Faye announced with her usual nonchalant smile as she retrieved the tome so many teams had been signed up with already and began to write.
"So, since I already know your name, have you thought of a name for your team yet, sweetie? If not, fell free to take your time. I don't have much to do either."
Calmly the Meganium waited for her dear friend to respond. This wasn't an easy descision after all, so it was completely normal for it to take some time. And surely Elijah would think of a fantastic name.
