Legendary Cup - Chapter 1: Do you Qualify?

It was a beautiful day to go sailing, especially today with the large passenger ship heading to the Land of the Legends. This was the last ship to head to the place of the Legendary Cup. There were many trainers that came in all shapes and sizes. Kids with their parents. Strangely dressed adults. Weird old guys. JOEY WITH HIS EFFING TOP TIER RATTATA Everyone wanted to have a go at the world champion, Zanna. It wouldn't take long to get on land now. "LAAAAAAND HOOOOOOOOO" The call of the crewman had the passengers all coming out to look. The sight was amazing, like nothing else. The land was so large and varied. Desert, snow, greenlands, and much more. It was if Arceus himself took pieces off all the different places in the world and put them together to create this place.

On the upper balcony, a figure in a large coat and hood stood watching their approach. "Its finally coming together. For so long I've planned. So many things went wrong... but they'll be righted in the coming days. I will get what I desire. The world that was meant to be." Without a sound, the figure turned and went back inside.

A rather slightly below average sized boy with white hair, a blue jacket, black shirt underneath, darker blue baggy pants, and deep red eyes yawned as he looked at the island, "Finally here huh? Good thing too. I think I was finally starting to get sick of the sea..."
The boy stretched and leaned on the bars that prevented people from falling overboard. He stared at the island, and began to wonder: why must he do this? What was the point of this once more?
After some thought he finally remembered, "Ah...right...useless am I?" He remembered his mom scolding him for forgetting to do everything and not being able to land a job. His parents would not allow him to try for a job at the gym, fearing that their son would turn to perversion with all of the woman in bathing suits in the gym. He huffed in annoyance, "Honestly, they really think i'm like that?" he mumbled to himself. He rested his chin behind his arms on the rail as the ship rocked back and forth. The water was comforting to him, unfortunately to a nearby passenger it wasn't for them. He tried to ignore the sound of the poor person suffering sea sickness and tried to focus on the waves....why was he here again?

A female with long, pale brown hair tied up in a messy ponytail stood, leaning against the railings of the boat. She was a fair distance away from the white haired boy and unable to hear the person vomiting over the side of the deck. Where she was stood it felt peaceful, the breeze caressing her skin with it's gentle touch and the sound of the ocean's waves a tranquil sound, partially lost beneath the voices of Wingull, cawing as they rode the sea's updrafts.

Thea's green eyes took in the beauty of the ocean as the boat traveled, however far too soon it would over and the ferry would have reached it's port on the island before them.

A girl with black hair tied into two small pigtails on either side of the back if her head sighed. Her blue eyes stared out into the sea as the patchwork Land of Legends approached. This girl, known as Kagami, put the hood of her black jacket up, as she knew she and the other passengers would be getting off soon. She wanted to lay low, as she was going to compete in the Legendary Cup. Kagami had an excellent feeling she would win, and wanted no one spying on her strategies, period.

She surveyed her surroundings. She was just on a boat about to dock, and there was a variety of different people there, including a few seasick ones the dark haired girl tried to ignore. She wasn't standing too far from a girl with a ponytail and a boy with white hair, and although she noticed them Kagami dismisses them like any of the other people on the boat. She wondered how many of these people were trainers, and how many she'd have to face when the cup started. Its not like Kagami was worried; in fact, she had absolute confidence in the fact that she would win. All she had to do now is to wait for all the fun to start.

The ship came into a Nano City harbor, a girl with dark skin and messy black hair being the first off. At the end of the gangplank off, she turned and yelled to the rest of the passengers. "Welcome to the Land of Legends! Good luck to you all in the tournament! I hope you all do your very best to reach the end! See you there!" As she was running off, some people were muttering in the crowd. "Was that really her? The World Champion?" "There is no way, she is too young. She was like... fourteen I think." "She looked exactly like the champion we saw on tv though!" The trainers kept talking as they got off, heading through the docks. They had two days until the opening ceremonies, but today they were to head to the pokemon center in this city. Maps were given upon getting off the boat as the city was pretty big.

Harvey studied the girl as she spoke for a few brief moments before losing interest and turned his attention to the sea once more. It was not long before a few trainers of the crowd bumped into him and pushed him forward off the comforting rocking of the ship and onto land. He found that a map was hastily shoved into his hands as the people who passed them out hastily tried to pass out the maps with the fast moving flow of trainers.
The trainer finally found himself free of the crowd's clutter once he was in front of the pokemon center, at least he thought it was the pokemon center...He checked his map again and confirmed that it was the pokecenter and not some strange look alike. He walked in, unsure of what to do next and simply wandered around like a lost puppy...

Thea was one of the last trainers to get off the boat. Being as quiet as she was, she would often prefer not to get caught up in a crowd. Wandering off the boat as one of the last, a woman handed her a map. As she was one of the last ones she smiled wearily and pointed to the Pokemon Centre marked upon it. Knowing now where she needed to go, Thea nodded her thanks and headed into the city in search of the signature red roof.

It didn't take her long to find it. Despite being one of the last trainers off the boat, her intelligence and adept observation had enabled her to arrive quicker than rather a lot of them. She had stopped only once to point a fellow trainer in the right direction, having then accompanied her to the Pokemon Centre. Now she had arrived, Thea glanced around, attempting to ascertain what she needed to do next.

Kagami was surprised that the champion of the Legendary Cup was on the boat this whole time. She had expected her to be waiting at the dock or just not show herself. She wondered why, though her mind was soon cleared when she realized most of the others were already off the boat. Still, she didn't hurry. She walked at a slightly above average pace and silently accepted the map as she departed into the city. Kagami opened up her map and quickly pinpointed the Pokemon Center. It wasn't too far away. She folded up the map and stuffed it in her jacket pockey befor heading off to the Pokemon center.

Along the way, Kagami constantly looked around and stayed alert, though nothing was really notable nor suspicious. In no time, the girl reached the Pokecenter. As she walked in, Kagami calmly took a seat that was luckily empty, despite how crowded the building was. With her hands in her pockets, the aspiring trainer patiently waited for everything to start.

Of course it was Nurse Joy who ran the pokemon center. Who else? A Blissey was with her, a cart of pokeballs being pushed by the two. As each of the trainers came, they gave a pokemon to each one. For Harvey, he got a Seel. For Thea, she got a Natu. For Kagami, she got a Misdreavous. Each pokemon was raised like a starter. raised to listen to the trainer it was given to. The trainers had two days to bond with their pokemon before the opening ceremonies and they had a huge city to explore. Time was a-wasting! There were sights to see and friends to make!

Harvey stared at the Seel he had received, and the white ice and water pokemon stared back. Harvey certainly had not been expecting a seel as his starter pokemon....did not one of the leaders at the gym back in Celadon have this pokemon as well? He sat at the pokemon center, looking down at the pokemon, waiting for it to do something. Instead the pokemon just stared back for a few moments before tilting its head curiously.
"Sooo....you need a name I guess..." Harvey finally spoke. He was supposed to bond with this pokemon, it would not have been a problem, if Harvey knew someplace to train. The Seel simply yawned and decided to wander away, bored of this staring contest, heading in a random direction that seemed to be towards a girl in a pony tail(Thea). The snowy haired trainer chased after his new pokemon, wondering why it would leave all of a sudden.
"Hey! Wait!"

The Natu was perched neatly on Thea's arm. The quiet female was positively delighted with the Pokemon she had received as it shared both of her favourite types. The Natu was just as quiet as she was, but likely rather nervous as the Little Bird Pokemon's species was often spooked rather easily. Attempting to calm the jittery bird pokemon, Thea gently ran her thumb along the tiny bird's green feathers, trying to help her feel safe.
"I guess you need a name..." Thea whispered to the little Natu, "What would you think of the name Anya?"
The Natu replied with a cheerful, "Na-Tu~" that Thea took as a positive response to the name. With a new name and some gentle contact, the cautious little Natu was already beginning to warm up to Thea.

"Hey! Wait!"
The sound of a boy's voice caught Thea's attention. The statement was clearly not aimed at her but she was curious as to why someone would need to shout in the middle of a Pokemon Center. Turning around, the quiet female watched as a Seel heaved itself across the polished floor with it's flippers. She assumed that this Seel must be the boy's new Pokemon and crouched down in front of it. Gently placing her free hand on the Seel's head, she felt it's thick skin and once again attempted to use touch to connect with the Pokemon. They truly were beautiful creatures, no matter how big or small.
Anya made a soft chirping noise, both her and her new trainer wondering why the Seel had wandered off.

The Seel stared at the trainer, was this person just going to give him another staring contest too? The boy's ruby red eyes staring down at him like fire were bad enough...
The Seel did not get his answer as he was pulled backwards and lifted up by his trainer.
The snowy haired boy smiled nervously, "Sorry 'bout that! I guess he doesn't like me that much."
He didn't know much else of what to say. He would have made a joke, but he could think of none at the moment. He was too embarrassed to say or do much.

Kagami watched as Pokeballs were passed out. She got up and accepted her starter Pokeball and peered inside. A small blue ghost floated inside, its large red eyes peering up at her. So this is what I have to work with so far, Kagami thought. If her knowledge was correct, this Pokemon was a Misdreavus, and they tend to scare people. She figured it wasn't the best idea to release a trickster like that into a public place, especially since the Pokemon hadn't really gotten to know Kagami yet, starter or not. Her best bet was to formally meet it outside.

Kagami proceded to exit the center. Outside, there weren't many people, and the people who were there were either entering or leaving it. Kagami, unlike the others, planned on lingering outside the building. Once again she sat down, this time on a bench stationed outside the Pokecenter, right in front of a window. Kagami released the Misdreavus from her Pokeball. It floated in mid air, staring at Kagami...and then it smirked and floated through the Pokemon Center wall, planning to wreak havoc.

The ghost's trainer cursed under her breath and headed back inside, hoping to retrieve her Pokemon before it could cause any trouble, but she was too late. The Misdreavus had already found a target, and snuck up behind a girl with a Natu. Using its Psychic powers, it tried to give the girl's ponytail a tug, quietly chuckling all the while.

Thea smiled to the Seel's trainer standing back up to her full height.
"You've only just met... I suspect he'll come to like you with time," she replied, pausing to gently pet the Natu on her arm. Connections were usually formed through time, with care and attention from a trainer, not in the first few seconds. She suspected that the Natu she had been given was rather mild in nature, despite still being rather cautious and easily spooked like the rest of her species. Sensing the other person's embarrassment, Thea decided to introduce herself, changing the topic of conversation.
"I'm Thea," she smiled quietly, "Pleased to meet you."

Thea was almost startled by a sudden chirrup Anya made, catching her attention as it flapped it's small wings. Blinking, Thea turned around as she felt a tug on her ponytail. Being as calm a person as she was, she didn't react very much other than to chuckle a little at the Misdreavus' trickery. All pokemon had their subtle little quirks, it just so happened that Misdreavus were often a little naughty. Thea figured that Anya had attempted to warn her, only to be a little too late.

The Seel clapped with its fins with a call, "Seel!" In greetings to the other pokemon and their trainers. Harvey had already forgotten the girl that had just introduced herself's name, uneasily he spoke, "Erm...I'm Harvey..." The boy wasn't quite sure on what else to say, so he simply stood there foolishly as the ghost pokemon tugged the girl's ponytail and the natu screeched in warning.
The seel wriggled in his hands, hoping for freedom, but Harvey hold tight in fear of the seel falling on the floor and being stepped on by one of the many trainers.
