Fruits Basket: The New Zodiacs

The first day of school at Rengoku Academy; a very nice private high school in Japan. It was a nice morning; the sun was out and white, puffy clouds decorated the sky above.

It was around twenty-five minutes before the first warning bell was set to ring when Hikari Sohma jogged up to the front gate of the school. Despite not really being that involved in sports or other athletic activities, Hikari was a rather athletic person. Running to school had always been a breeze for her; she could even out-run the track team. She leaned up against the outer wall of the school and waited for her little brother, Nobunaga Sohma, to catch up.

The Sohma Family was fairly notorious for being very distant, very secretive, and very VERY large; a good number of them living on one single estate. While many people don't understand this, there was a reason for it. The Sohma family had an odd curse upon them where thirteen of the very numerous family members were possessed by a vengeful spirit of the Chinese Zodiac. Hikari and Nobunaga just happened to be two of those Zodiacs; Nobunaga representing the Dragon and Hikari representing the Rat.

Hikari continued to stand around outside the front of the school; keeping a casual lookout for Naga.

"Any suggestion one what we should do?" Tenshi asked the trio. Her wrist was bothering her a little bit. Looking down she saw that blood was slowly dripping down her hand. "Guys excuse me for a moment please, I uh, need to use the restroom." Tenshi said slowly. Quickly spotting the restrooms tenshi walk in like the devil was on her heels.

"Oh... okay?" Hikari answered/asked in response to Tenshi, cocking he head slightly to the right. Emile caught a wiff of a metallic smell in the air and was also confused slightly; why was he smelling blood in this public area?

In the Bathroom Tenshi took of her left glove and was the semi-old scars starting to bleed. "Crap, I thought it would of healed by now." she muttered. Rummaging through her bag she found some gauze and started to wrap it around her bleeding wrist. Taking slow and steady breaths Tenshi put he glove back on and went to find her cousin and friends.

Tobi looked at Tenshi as she ran into the bathroom. "She must of had to go really badly." he said quietly.

"Yeah..." Emile agreed somewhat dully. He still smelled the metallic smell, even when he knew Tenshi was already in the girl's bathroom. Hikari only gazed worriedly in the direction of the bathrooms in silence. Emile could feel her worry and looked at her with worry in response.

While they were all distracted, he blonde boy with the strangely-colored eyes passed behind their backs and walked further into the Carnival, glancing at Emile as he passed. He then disapeered into the excited crowd...

Teshi walked back to the group, "Sorry I really had to go. Shouldn't of eaten the food that fast." she chuckled. "Ok too much info, let's try to find a ride to get on" Tobi said. He went to a bench and started eating his meal from the Cafe. "Who's paying to get on the rides? Don't we need tickets?" Tenshi asked.

"You don't say!" Hikari laughed, allowing her cousin the benefit of the doubt.

"I just got the tickets; this round's on me." Emile chimed in with a shrug; offering the three tickets to the others in the group. He had once again just somehow gone super fast and then materialized back in his place as if nothing had happened... somehow...

Tenshi looked around trying to find a good ride. "You guys see anything?" she asked with a bored tone. She was  much for the slow ride like the Ferris wheel, she wanted some action like the Tilt-a-Whirl, or something.

"What about that rollercoaster?" Emile suggested casually, pointing in the direction of a large, intimidating rollercoaster, the screams of the riders on the ride cut through the noises of the hustle and bustle; making them the loudest thing in the Carnival.

"Ohmygawd yes; that one." Hikari squeed in awe and excitement, already making tracks for the crazy thrill ride.

"Now that looks like fun." Tenshi said. With a creepy smile Tenshi walked towards the end of the line. I can't wait to see the looks on everyone's faces. she thought with a grin.

"Is it possible for her to be too happy?" Tobi asked Hikari. He may act like an airhead at times but he was aware of what was around him.

Emile just gave Tenshi a funny look. He could still smell the metallic-y smell coming from her, and it concerned him somewhat. He could see how close Hikari and Tenshi were, and he wondered if maybe Hikari knew what he was now starting to think...?

"'Course she can be happy!" Hikari laughed, but a shadow quickly crossed her face. "It's... It's just harder for her now..." she sighed quietly, glancing up at Tenshi through her bangs.

Tenshi turned to see if her friends were following her, they were not. "Guys come on!" she called, waving her arm. Tenshi was at time impatient, this was one of those times. The line was surprisingly short, "Must not be brave enough. But some of these guys may just be here for an adrenalin rush or something." she muttered.

Tobi sighed, Hikari was right. It was ok for Tenshi to be happy. the whole school had heard what had happened, well what they were told of what had happened. Robbery gone bad and the house caught on fire. "We should get going before she get's mad." Tobi said, heading over to Tenshi.

"Okay!" Hikari smiled at Tobi. "Coming, Tenshi; hold our spots!!" she called excitedly as she raced over to the line, leaving Emile and Tobi to follow.

Emile stayed silent, keeping his thoughts and feelings to himself. There was just so much going on now... Like his life had been launched into a turbulent chain of events that he couldn't escape.

...Maybe he didn't even WANT to escape...

Tenshi waited for her friends to get their butts in line. She smirked and looked at the hills and loop de loops on the roller coaster. Boy some of those hills are high. NO! Come on don't chicken out now! she thought to herself. Shaking her head she glared at nothing, reviving a few odd looks from a few passerby's.

Tobi just walked up behind Tenshi and waited for the line to move.

Hikari and Emile followed Tobi, Hikari hiding her suspicions of Tenshi a little better than Emile. They waited until it was their turn to board, then Emile and Hikari both took their seats in the rollercoaster.

"C'mon, Tenshi!" Hikari called, waving at her.

"Coming!" Tenshi said and hopped in beside Hikari. As the ride started Tenshi's stomach started to do flips. They were now nearing the top of the first hill, Tenshi's hands griped the handle bars tightly. "Hikari, before we die. I've been cutting myself!" Tenshi suddenly shouted. Closing her eyes she felt her heart being pushed into her throat.
