The tale of two clowns

Music? The sound was high pitched and undeniably beautiful, something that she had never heard before but where where was it coming from? The girl slowly tip toed out of bed and out of her night chamber into the large castle that was her home. It was very large and she often had gotten lost as a child but she knew it well enough now. But she couldn't tell where the music was coming from she exited her chamber and with nothing but her night gown and bare feet started to walk about the cool stone floor of the hall way out of the castle.

The princess flawlessly manuevered threw the dark halls and empty rooms being rather quick even for an eight year old. " Every time I turn a corner I swear it's there but it never is!" She huffed and stopped turning to Charley. " Why don't you lead to it you must have better ears then me!" She complained pointing at Charley.

"Well... Um... I don't hear anything. What do you hear?" Claimed Charley. Trying to not hurt the feelings of the princess, yet still get an answer to his question. being the curious person he is.

"You heard something?" the knight asked franticly, reaching for the blade at his waist. "Where from?!" he hissed.

"God you guys are useless!" She complained and scampered off. After a few moments of farther searching the Princess stopped she was certain he was in this room now it was quite obvious to her that he was in here at this point. This was the music room of the castle the room her father had speficly attached to the castle because of his love of music. She placed a hand on the door knob and turned to the others. She brought her finger to her lips." Shhhhhhhh"

"Hold on" the knight shot out his hand and placed it on the knob, grasping his sword's hilt with his other" I'll go first." He opened the door just enough to slip through. He quickly disappeared into the shadows.After a few moments, the large door suddenly slammed shut. The duo the knight had left behind was now cut off from him. There was rattling and the sound of a few instruments crashing down. The knob of the door started to shake violently. Suddenly the knight filed back out of the room, panting. "It's safe, but I might have knocked a few instruments over, so watch your step."

" Okay." She replied quickly grabbing Charley by the sleeve and dragging him inside. The room was darker then the rest of the castle, but still even in the dimness she could pick out the sape of someone playing what she thought was the violin standing in the center of the room it sounded absolutely beautiful to her too. " Who who are you?" She asked.

The person turned he was wearing an extrvangent suit would would not be made in this time period at all. He was tall with longer limbs then he should making him look disperportionate. His face was what interest her the most because it wasn't really a face at all it was a mask a cheap one which again later in the history of the world would be associated with drama on the person's face. but it's face was twisted into a creepy smile. it reminded her of a story her father had told her when she was younger but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Charley stops at the site of the man. "Uh ... um?" He isn't, really sure what to do. He just stands there. waiting for something to happen. But when he sees the princess get even an inch closer to the man. He goes into protective mode, and jumps in front of her. "Stand back." in a whisper tone.
