In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

Gabriel nodded, making noises of agreement. "Otherwise though I think we've got this in the bag. Our first round was a bit lacking in teamwork but this round'll be totally awesome!" Gabriel was quickly shedding his exhaustion for excitement as he leaned forward in his seat, practically bouncing up and down. He paused when he heard their names being called.

"Ah, Claudia and Gabriel was it? Your Pokemon are all healed up!"

Gabriel's eyebrows shot up. "That was really fast!" He exclaimed as he walked up to the counter. The Nurse explained that the Pokemon hadn't been beat up too badly and they weren't very busy today so it didn't take very long to heal them. With that, she slid the Pokeballs to the two trainers. Gabriel picked up his three and thanked the Nurse Joy profusely, waiting for Claudia to get hers before walking away.

Claudia hopped up onto her feet as their names were called, dashing over to the counter to collect her Pokemon. She tucked Laurel's, Celandine's and Copper's Pokeballs into her bag, but kept Loki's with her, putting it inside of a ball capsule and sifting through the pockets of her bag for an appropriate seal.

"Nearly ready then..." she blinked, leading the way back towards the contest hall. As she sat in the waiting room with her Pokemon, it seemed like the last battle of the previous round was nearly over.
Ten seconds.
A Pokemon she hadn't seen before unleashed a water type attack, but before it could land a hit, the timer had finished counting down and they were defeated.

Claudia waited patiently for the MC to conclude the battle before the pairings were randomised for the next round.

Gabriel watched as he and Claudia were paired with another team of one boy and one girl. Their names were Tyler and Louise, he noted. The girl had blonde hair and dark brown eyes while the boy had black hair and blue eyes. Since the pictures were only from the shoulders up, this was all Gabriel could tell of the competition. He also noted that they were up next so, as the MC's voice echoed around the arena, Gabriel made sure his seal and ball capsule were on Tyson's Pokeball before giving Claudia a thumbs up and walking out onto the field.

As soon as he stepped onto the field he grinned widely and nodded at their opponents. He looked over to Claudia before releasing Tyson with a cry of. "Go, Tyson!"

Tyson emerged from a ring of flames that licked at his fur much like his Fire Fang attack. It caused his fur to shimmer odd colors as he walked forwards and the fire dimmed away to nothing. He let out a sharp bark that echoed across the arena.

Tyler observed as their opponents walked out onto the stage at nearly the same moment as he and Louise. With a broad grin he released his Pokemon mere seconds after the Lillipup across the arena had found its spot in front of its trainer.
"Go, Damion!"
From the Pokeball in the black-haired boy's hand emerged a Scraggy. It was surrounded by flames of a sort too but these seemed different. They were ghostly purples and dark reds as well as browns and yellows. The Scraggy kicked and chopped at the air before pulling up its 'pants' and settling down. It let out an answering battle cry to Tyson.

Claudia grinned as she walked out on the battlefield. She had confidence that she could do this. That both she and Gabe could win.
She blinked however, narrowing her eyes as the Scraggy materialised onto the field. A fighting type. She held Loki's Pokeball close to her face and whispered something into it before throwing it out onto the field.

The seal on the ball caused the Pokemon to be surrounded by a black and purple smoke. However, a short while later, what appeared to be a bird Pokemon shot up through the smoke. It's wings having cleared away the blackness, it landed gently on the field and took a bow. A few moments after the Pidove grinned mischievously before standing to attention and waiting for his trainer's commands.

Claudia's face held a grin that matched the Pidove in front of her. She hoped that this would be enough to cause the opponents to re-think their strategy.


With a frown, the blonde girl tossed her Pokeball out onto the field.
"Go, Cyanide!" yelled Louise. The Venipede rolled out, surrounded by large globs of an unidentifiable purple liquid.

Gabriel stifled his grin as he saw Claudia's trickery and realized what she was going for. She was going to try to make their competitors rethink their entire game strategy! With a nod, Gabriel started out the battle.

"Tyson, use Tackle!"

The Lillipup launched itself towards the Venipede, jaws snapping as his tail streamed out behind him and his paws thudded rhythmically against the hard packed ground.

Gabriel figured Tyson should go this one alone if they were to maintain the pretense of having a Pidove on their team. After all, Pidove's don't learn the move Extrasensory. At least, not any Pidove that he's heard of. He attempted to convey this thought process to Claudia through various glares and hoped that she had enough common sense to realize it herself.

He was pretty sure that he was the common sense deficient one in this group so he felt alright about it.

Tyler stood stock still and watched as their opponents released a Pidove and then a tackle attack. He smirked and scoffed. Two normal types were easy prey for Damion.
"Damion, Sand Attack!"
The Scraggy waited for the most opportune moment before he kicked dust into the Lillipup's face.
Tyson cried out and continued running, but the Scraggy was easily able to dodge out of the way while the Lillipup was blinded.

"Aerial Ace!" called Claudia. With some quick thinking, Loki in his Pidove guise, nodded. He 'flew' low and alongside Tyson and whilst his beak in the illusion glowed, it was really his claws glowing. In something worthy of a ton of points had the audience known about it, Loki shot his left paw forwards at the last moment, grouping the claws together to feel as though a beak had really just hit the bug type.

The Venipede was flung backwards, the Pokemon's Defense Curl having not been enough to protect him from the attack.

In the illusion, the Pidove did a short loop upwards and back down to land neatly on the ground. In reality, Loki had just done a rather nimble backflip. He looked back at his trainer and grinned.

Tyson was busy shaking his head and clawing at his eyes in order to get the sand and dirt out of them. When he had regained most of his eyesight he waited patiently for his next command.

"Fire Fang, Tyson!"

Tyson obliged and opened his jaws as he dashed towards the Venipede, mouth flaming. He clamped down on the Pokemon with a harsh growl soon afterwards.

Tyler frowned. Something seemed a bit off with the Pidove but he shrugged it off. It wasn't important enough for him to take note of. Instead, he focused on attacking the opposing Pokemon.

"Damion, use Low Kick!"

The Scraggy rushed forwards, leaping up at the last minute and aiming his foot to collide with the Pidove.

The Venipede cried out in pain as the Lillipup's fiery jaws clamped down upon his body. His trainer then called out for a Toxic Spikes move and the Venipede obliged, firing an array of poisoned spiked around the arena. The Pokemon battling would now have to avoid them as they fought.
The Venipede then used Poison Sting and Rollout. His two antennae glowed purple and he began to spin, creating the effect of a purple glowing Rollout move.

Claudia meanwhile had to quickly think on her feet. She didn't want to reveal Loki's true form until after the attack and so kept up the guise.
"DP, Aerial Ace again!" she called, "Counter the Low Kick!"
She knew that in reality an Aerial Ace would win against a Low Kick due to the type advantage however it would be the other way around unless she did something about it. She hoped that Loki had realised what the letters she called out stood for.

Thankfully the Zorua was a rather intelligent Pokemon and after going through a few possibilities deduced that she meant Dark Pulse. Deciding to show off before he was revealed due to the collision of the move, he made the illusion take on the same eerie black and purple glow that his Fury Swipes -Dark Pulse combination was actually doing beneath the guise. Grinning, Claudia knew that would earn them points already.

The two attacks collided, claw with foot until Loki finally dropped his guise. The Pidove guise suddenly glowed pink before shattering to reveal the Zorua in an astounding display. The crowd gasped at the reveal and the judges immediately took a whole load of points away from the opposing team. They had been fooled all along, Loki keeping up spectacularly considering he had been 'using' moves he didn't know and still dealing some damage.

Claudia grinned over at Gabriel, giving him a thumbs up. Her little plan had given them a severe advantage.

Gabriel grinned right back at Claudia. Hers and Loki's quick thinking had given them a very early lead and that was something he liked the sound of. "Tyson, get out of there but be careful of the spikes!" He called out as he observed the Venipede beginning to glimmer purple.

Tyson skipped backwards, glancing about to make sure he wouldn't land on any poisonous spikes. Once he had landed safely he waited calmly for his next command.

"Alright then Tyson, use Tackle on one of the spikes. Be careful though, don't get pricked."

Tyson was a bit confused but did as he was told. Working up speed, Tyson dashed forwards, a silver trail streaming out behind him as he raced towards a pile of purple spikes. Suddenly, he was struck with an idea. The Lillipup angled himself so that as he approached the spikes he was facing the Venipede. As he reached the edge of the pile, he stopped abruptly. The silver tail that had been following him rushed forwards as if still following him and the breeze he had kicked up came with it, hurling the spikes forwards and towards the opposing Pokemon. It created a dazzling sparkling effect with bits of purple glimmering through the entire time.

Gabriel nearly whooped for joy at the pure intelligence of the Lillipup. He hadn't expected such a good outcome as this and was extremely happy.

As Damion's foot collided with Loki's claw, his eyes widened in shock. Before him the Pidove transformed into what he supposed was its true form- a Zorua. He was utterly astounded. So astounded, in fact, that he stared dumbly far longer than he should have.

"Twineedle! Catch the spikes and hurl them back!"
Doing as he was told, the Venipede's antennae glowed again, this time a deep green colour. He intercepted the flow of the spikes, his poison typing preventing them from affecting him too much. With a quick spin to build up momentum, he then flung them back towards the Lillipup, now accompanied with a trail of green.

Loki took this chance to use Extrasensory, the golden beam of colour shooting from the Zorua's outstretched mouth, straight towards the staring Scraggy.

Tyson let out a yelp of fear, waiting anxiously for his trainer's orders as hoards of the purple spikes flew towards him.

"Quick Tyson! Move out of the way!" Gabriel called, unable to see another alternative.

The Lillipup didn't hesitate to heed his trainer's commands as he scampered away, paws kicking up little clouds of dust. He only managed to escape the majority of the spikes, however, as he had not had enough time to get out of the way. He let out a whimper as four spikes stuck into his coat.

"Shake 'em off Tyson. The poison will get you even worse the longer you leave them in." Gabriel advised, keeping one eye trained on the Venipede.

Tyson shook his fur out and was relieved of two of the spikes. The remaining two he grasped with his teeth and pulled out with a small whine.

"Alright, jump right back in! Tackle and follow it up with Fire Fang!"

Tyson barked and obliged, setting off at a pace only slowed by the slow but steady effects of the poison in his bloodstream. As he neared the Venipede he leaped into the air, silver trail following him as his jaws began to flame.

"Watch out Damion!"

Damion was shaken out of his moment of paralysis by his trainer's urgent call. The Scraggy saw the golden wave of energy coming towards him and attempted to counter the attack by slipping beneath it. However, he was not aware that the Zorua could direct the energy after he had fired it off.

The Venipede used Defense Curl, taking in damage from the Fire Fang-Tackle combination. It seemed that it's trainer wasn't very experienced as they couldn't think of a better way to combat it, as the Venipede was too slow to move in time, despite the Lillipup's poisoned status.

The beam of golden light split into two, bending round to strike the Scraggy from opposite directions. Claudia then looked to Gabriel, shouting loudly to catch his attention.
"Dark Lantern, Loki!" she called, using the name for the combination that she had suggested not long before this battle, "As many as you can!"

The Zorua let out a short cry before he used Dark Pulse, focusing the move into a ball of dark type energy. He did this multiple times until there were quite a few of them in the surrounding area.

"You know what to do now, Tyson!"

The Lillipup set his teeth aflame once more as he turned to face the first of the lanterns. He took off running towards it before leaping and clamping down on the energy. It wasn't quite solid nor was it liquid or gas. It simply was. He slipped through it, the orb reforming behind him. He repeated this for the rest of the lanterns until the Dark Lanterns were floating all around, deep black glimmering orange and red from the inside out.

Gabriel waited with bated breath to see how this combination played out.

Damion was bowled over by the force of the golden hued waves of energy. He shakily got to his feet only to see the opposing team lighting up several black orbs. He watched in confusion as Tyson lit the last one.

Loki let out another cry, a longer one this time. He used the sound waves to silently transmit the waves of psychic energy he needed to move the lanterns towards their opponents. The lanterns eerily moved across the arena until a set of them surrounded each Pokemon. The lanterns then appeared to pop or explode, engulfing both Pokemon with their firey and dark energy.
