With The Odds Against You

Lumina, you've just been full of bright ideas lately, haven't you.

Her own thought dryly chastised her as the six-tailed fox stood outside the entrance to Serene Cave. Despite the guild badge, treasure bag and wonder map poking out of the before mentioned bag, she wasn't here on a mission. No, she had decided to give herself a small break from her guild work.

She was here for something else. To grow stronger. To satisfy her curiosity. To come where she hadn't come before, in an attempt to learn about the world around her. Or maybe she was just here to entertain herself. What could she say, she enjoyed a good challenge now and then. Most likely, it was a little bit of all these reasons combined.

Her head held high, the Vulpix stood outside the cave regally, her ears perked attentively. She stepped inside, the cool air inside replacing the warmth that the sun left on her fur, and for some reason she couldn't quite explain, this gave Lumina a chill down her spine.

Noel rolled her eyes as she ran at the two flying Pokemon done with trying ground to air combat as she got a plan she had done this once so she would have to do it well as she jumped on a dugtrio that had popped up.

She was then in the air as she hit both flying Pokemon stomping on them and she jumped up on the roof of the cave as she then jumps grabbing the two and slammed them into the dugtrio she had jumped on knocking all three out with a large crash

Lumina heaved herself back to her paws, glaring at the two of them. Deciding to trap them, she used another Fire Spin, the swirling vortex of fire pulling the two off their feet. Satisfied that would keep them busy for a while, the Vulpix looked over at the rest of her enemies. Noticing that the Dugtrio from before was out of the Fire Spin, she could safely assume that it had worn off.

Using Quick Attack, she lunged at the Ground type, slamming into it with as much force and momentum as she could muster. That dizzied it, at the very least, and another attack would probably finish it. And so that was exactly what she did, batting the mole-like Pokémon as hard as she could. Another blow like that and it was slumping over, presumably unconscious.

Noel smirked at the ground types in front of her two gravelers as she dodged the rocks gracefully and ended up next to one as she quickly puts a seed in her mouth and knocked one of them away and then seemingly breathed fire on the other this was the blast seed

Lumina looked back at the Gravelers, seeing her partner attack one of them with a Blast Seed. She decided to finish it off and did so with a swift Quick Attack, slamming into the large stone and knocking it over. She had to run through her own fire to reach it, but it didn't hurt the Vulpix, far from it. If anything, it only made her feel stronger.

"Behind you!" Lumina barked, seeing one of the Geodude trying to sneak up on the Riolu. She warned the Rock Pokemon with a loud, feral Roar, which seemed to make it reconsider it's plan about attacking them, but this fear only lasted momentarily. It continued it's attack and tried to Tackle Noel.

"Got it" Noel said as she quickly turned she had not been able to sense the Pokemon due to her not being able to use her sense right now but she reacted fast as she kicked the rock up and jumped after it.

She grabs it and spins around and throws it into the other geodude knocking it out and the other also as Noel lands "thanks" Noel says with a smirk

Lumina gritted her teeth, the only source of light in these caverns being her own flames. As the last Fire Spin died out, the area was once more drenched in darkness. "How many are left?" She called to Noel, trying to keep her distance between her and the feral Pokémon as she did so. Too many times she had been ambushed while trying to have a conversation.

Noel stops as she used her aura even though it was a little hard to maintain she noticed no aura but theirs as she calmed down and element back to her normal sight "we are good" she says with a small wave

(Wow I went and counted didn't even notice we took them all out)

Lumina seemed surprised. "Really?" She didn't figure that Noel would be kidding around at a time like this, but she hadn't expected that battle to go so fast. Anyways, now they could move on to the fun part, the Vulpix supposed. That being dividing up their newfound loot. "I guess all these items are ours, then. You see anything you'd like, Noel?" She offered.

Noel looks around the area and doesn't see anything of real use as she shrugs "no not really" she says as she noticed a small rock and picks it up moving it in her hand as she started at it it felt like the aura around the stone itself had stopped Noel shrugged and put it in her pack thinking it might be useful "anyways ya nothing here really interests me"

The Vulpix looked over at the Gummis and seeds, but she didn't see anything that caught her eye, either. She returned Noel's shrug, walking past the multiple items scattered across the ground, some of them lightly damaged in the battle. "Well, feel free to take whatever else you'd like. I think I'll save the space in my bag." She explained, continuing to pad onwards with a newfound energy.

Noel walked along with lumina also wanting to save some space though this was the same girl who had a stick in her bag but that came in handy as Noel took the lead once more leading lumina through the darkness as she started to feel tired that fight had taken some time it might of already been night or it was due to her overused of her aura

Once more, the Vulpix's thoughts traveled to what time of day it was. She sort of missed not being able to see the sky. Not to mention how dark it was in here, or how the air felt thick from a lack of breezes making it this far into the cave. But at the same time, she didn't want to sleep. She had the lurking suspicion that she'd have another nightmare. Maybe it would just be better for her to stay up until they got out of here.

Noel was moving a little slower her mental fatigue keeping up on her as she moved she didn't want to get lost so she had been using her senses to see the way she knew that it was still far from the edit and would take some time lucky she had memorized the path and could follow it without using her aura though it would take some time to get through

As they walked in silence, the vixen wondered about her last dream, which she still remembered with crystal clarity. Strange, since she normally forgot her dreams. Don't live in her shadow. What did that even mean? And why was she even giving this so much thought? In all likelihood, it was just a disturbing, abstract nightmare. Everyone had a few of those.

Noel looked around the cave as she remained silent she didn't really feel like talking now as she slowly scanned the cave walls for anything important as her eyes catch a noibat guarding a piece of candy Noel felt like that was a stupid thing to be guarding as Noel didn't tell lumina about it feeling like they should make good time through the cave.

Noel was slowly wearing down as she could barely maintain the aura see for long without getting a bad headache though she didn't show this,it was happening as she decided to switch to her normal sense feeling like nothing could go bad... right?
