PostSubject: The Spirits Inside   The Spirits Inside - Page 2 EmptyTue Dec 10, 2013 1:33 am

First topic message reminder :

Cars honking, people talking, the city was one big state of organized chaos. Streets were bustling, people were making exchanges for cash, and everything seemed to be perfect in this chaotic city that Corvus was unfamiliar with. The small child was only 13, and yet he had been relocated here to begin his official job after 12 years of training. The boy's face painted a frown as a strange beast walked along side him. Humans here did not flinch at the monster that stood before them, and walked right through the strange beast as if it were nothing but a hologram. They knew it was there, they knew that it too lived, thought, and felt. They were just unafraid. This thing was a Tamed. It was incapable of hurting them unless it was told.

It was only a few moments that he had hopped off of a subway and entered the bustling streets that the organized chaos turned to straight out chaos as a strange long beast with wings flew about the sky wildly. Its movements spoke its angers, sharp, and enraged. This thing was out for blood, as all spirit animals were. The only difference between the beast beside Corvus and the beast in the sky, was that the flying on was solid. The flying one was capable of harming people. The flying one was a threat.

Corvus had been brought here to defend the city, and defend it he shall, but first a hotdog. He certainly couldn't defend the city on an empty stomach and let an unattended hot dog cart go to waste! The beast raged above as the crowd scattered and hid in buildings, awaiting for tamers to come to slay the beast. Corvus enjoyed his hotdog, it was kind of funny seeing how scared the people were, it was just a flying lizard like his. His beast could easily take it out whenever he wanted. He was just too hungry to do much at the moment.

Curious Corvus did not quite understand this concept. He was told that the wilds were bad, therefor must be destroyed, though his caretaker preferred the term "converted", and the stones captured as the stones that are made from the death of one spirit beast are easy to find and forced to be tamed if the carcass is found before the egg is carried off through nature's ways to a harder to find location.
Corvus's beast looked to his tamer, in confusion. Corvus only remained silent as he thought about it, finally eating that hotdog he had still been carrying that he had grabbed at the last moment.
Nearby, the vendor had returned to his cart and found in dismay that most of his hotdogs had been eaten. The boy ignored the glaring daggers that were shot at him, he was in no danger. Nobody would dare attack a Tamer, since they were well trained, other than another tamer or someone highly trained.
The beast next to the boy spoke once more, "So......He's Corvus." The creature nodded towards Corvus. Corvus waved and allowed his hand to drop back to his side as his spirit continued to speak, "Child 'prodigy' (whatever that word means, he never bothered to ask) and you?"

"Prodigy or not, it doesn't mean you should slaughter every untamed spirit you come across," Thea commented, her voice laced with distaste, her arms crossed and her dull, unseeing gaze focused on where Corvus was stood. A small nudge from Synrei caused her to lower her arms and calmly introduce herself.
"I'm Thea, and this is Synrei," she blinked, rubbing the spirit's head affectionately before bending down to pick up the bloodied arrows that she had previously tossed away. With the still-sharp weapons in hand, she actually looked rather threatening, however she held them casually at her side, both in the same hand.

"We're just doing the job, it's not like they teach you any differently how to take care of the wild spirits. If the only option I know of is me or them, personally I'm picking me. If there's a better option that can be pulled off, though, good for you." Sim stated bluntly, folding his arms behind his head and glancing between the two others. Still, interesting how she managed to calm it down so easily. Must have some skill with it.
"Nice to meet you both. I'm Sim, that's Amynta. Have you two been in town long?" He asked, deciding to see if he could get any information. Being new in the area, he didn't know much about what to do. Which meant that finding anyone to show him around would be a good start to getting settled in the area.

"Corvus was just transferred here to begin his first time on the field," The lizard like beast spoke. The reason why the beast did not introduce itself was because it had no name of its own. Corvus never found a need to name him, nor was told that he probably should name it. For the sake of referencing to it in this story line, the black beast is going to be referred to as "Lizard" so this narrator does not need to repeat "the beast" over and over to the point of boredom.
"He was instructed to begin work immediately..." Lizard spoke again.
Corvus looked to the ground in boredom, studying the cracks in the sidewalk and wondering about the old myth of "Step on a crack and break your mother's back" was true, he still listened to the conversation, but speaking was not exactly on his agenda.

"I've been here for a few weeks, mostly in advance of my official transfer so that I could adjust to the lay of the land," replied Thea calmly, "Pleased to meet you both."
Despite strongly feeling that the way the military and tamers in general handled wild spirits was wrong, she had to concede that it was not entirely their fault. They had been taught and trained to kill the solidified beasts, providing the eggs for future generations of tamers whilst ridding the world of a potential threat. However, in her mind this was still no reason for such mindless slaughter. Surely more tamers than just herself had considered the fact that these spirits and those that were tamed were of the same blood. Though they may differ vastly in appearance, their species was most definitely the same and so on some level, there was a way to communicate with the wild spirits just as they did with their own. All it took was the patience to learn and a little kindness.

"Alright, that's good planning there." Sim remarked, impressed by the thought Thea had put into her tranfer. It most likely would have been a good idea to visit the town at least once beforehand, but the thought had never occurred to him. "So, do you mind showing us around?" He continued, asking the question with him and his spirit in mind. Corvus could always go with them too if he wasn't too busy admiring the sidewalk. He hoped that he hadn't angered the girl too much with his comments. If he had, he would just have to find his way around the area himself, no big issue. Something about both other Tamers seemed strange to him, though. Thea was most likely blind, and the other one hadn't spoken anything since they had met. As a matter of fact, his spirit was the one doing the talking. It was definitely curious to Sim, but then again he himself might have seemed strange as well.

A thought came to Corvus's mind, about the boy named Sim. His name had reminded him of a game called SimCity that simulated every day life in the form of the player being some sort of god. Corvus smirked at the funny thought and Lizard seemed to roll his eyes as he spoke, "SimCity has a point."
The creature remained silent as Corvus tried to keep from making his joke obviously funny to him as his creature actually said it.
Corvus had never played Sim City before, but he had heard about it here and there. The fact that the boy's name was so similar to the video game amused him massively. The boy finally regained his composure and straight face and his spirit spoke, "So, where to first? Corvus is starving."

Thea blinked at Sim's request, but then shrugged lightly. "Sure. Anywhere in particular you want to go? There are a few interesting landmarks and a Sawsbuck's Coffee nearby. Take your pick I guess," she smiled. The reference to the simulation game was lost on Thea. Having been born blind, most people didn't think to buy her things like games and the like. Hell, she'd even learned to read and write nearly completely independently.
Synrei took this opportunity to properly take a look at the spirits that accompanied the other two tamers. One, Corvus's spirit, was rather similar to her, though bulkier in appearance, whilst Amynta lacked wings and was completely grounded.

"Eh, I was thinking useful places, but visiting some landmarks sounds good. Those are usually nice to get your bearings in a city." Sim commented, looking up as if thinking about it as he said it. He wasn't trying to be flat out mean, but it was what he thought. There wasn't much of a point in seeing monuments, history was history and wasn't coming back in his eyes. The best thing to do was to move on forward.
Amynta also watched the other two spirits, looking at them closely. The two seemed similar, though Corvus's spirit seemed like a larger brutish kind, while Synrei appeared to be more agile and graceful out of the two. She nodded her head at the other two spirits, giving a silent and respectful greeting.

"Anything is fine with Corvus..." the beast spoke. Corvus stopped studying the cracks in the sidewalk and looked up at the two. The teenagers were taller than him, and he was rather short for his age. He noticed that Sim had not reacted to the comment about being called Sim city. This only sparked the idea to see how far Sim would let him go before telling him to shut up, or at least his creature to shut up since he was doing all the talking.
"Corvus is hungry still..." the beast spoke.

"Well if you wanted to go somewhere different you could just say so," shrugged Thea, not wanting to drag them around the city if they in fact didn't want to see the landmarks. The female's unseeing gaze turned to Corvus's spirit as he spoke once more. She was curious as to why the spirit seemed to be doing most of the talking. In truth she could have just asked why, but the answer would likely be revealed in due time.
"Follow me," she blinked, not hesitating for even a moment before she began walking, Synrei following close behind. It seemed they would keep going whether the other two actually followed or not.

"No, I think I'll stick with going with the one who knows where she's going." Sim decided, nodding his head and following behind Thea. He hadn't heard her say anything else and couldn't see her move her lips, and so he linked back with his spirit once more to listen in to what they were saying. Amynta followed beside him, glancing around their surroundings with as much interest as Sim had, which was actually a genuine curiosity. He didn't respond to Corvus, not having been listening at the time and more focused on seeing what Thea was saying.

Corvus followed, his beast deciding to stay above ground and walk beside him. Corvus was rather small compared to his beast, since he is younger and shorter than average making the beast seem a lot bigger than it naturally is. The beast focused on walking as Corvus glanced around in search of something to eat.
"Corvus is bored..." the beast finally spoke after a few moments of walking, "He wants to know if we're there yet."

((Commence "are we there yet?" sequence /shot))

Thea just ignored the spirit's words. This was going to become irritating, she could see it, however she was not going to become frustrated by it. She would ignore it, not wanting to get on the bad side of these two if she could help it. After all, with how they'd all been transferred here at roughly the same time, they'd likely be working together at some point in the future.
"Not long," she replied simply, "You'll know it when you see it."

The restaurant she lead them to was a quaint little place with moderate prices. With practiced ease, she lead the way inside, her blindness not hindering her at all.
"I figured you could sit down for a proper meal rather than another set of hot dogs," she commented, "Plus this restaurant allows spirits inside, as long as they don't cause trouble."

(Anyone have any decent names for the little restaurant? |D)

There was an audible groan as Corvus' spirit asked, Sim rubbing his temple slightly. Please don't start with that... He thought to himself, continuing to walk. If there was one thing he didn't want it was some spirit acting like a thirteen year old kid and asking if they were there yet every handful of steps. Worse, he couldn't even just stop listening through his spirit. Then he wouldn't be able to see if Thea was saying anything.
"You say that like you assume they'll cause trouble." Sim commented in response to Thea's description of the restaurant. He glanced over at Corvus and his spirit, before looking back to the restaurant. Well, Amynta and I won't cause any issues. Can't exactly speak for them.
