Return of the King - Page 5 Empty

First topic message reminder :

Who the fuck had time for a day job when there were sick ass mountains to climb? Goro the croagunk sure didn't, that's for sure.

Well, no, he absolutely had time to work. But he'd also just got done putting in some serious overtime and it was time for some leave. Sure, he'd only gotten started, like, four or five weeks ago tops, but goddamn it, he'd done some serious stuff in that timeframe. Like get his butt whooped by his new boss, put up with two weeks' travel to and from a haunted house, kick some ghost ass, deal with a god (?), and came home to punch a demon in the face so hard that he broke his own hand. Seriously.

It hurt.

He was easily identifiable from other croagunks by the totally broken and misshapen left hand that he was very careful to keep still. On his right bicep was a blue ribbon stained suspiciously red, and held in his arm dangling over his right shoulder was a bindle. At first glance, he looked like a homeless vagrant down on his luck, which honestly wasn't too far from the truth. He was, in fact, a semi-homeless criminal enforcer who got bored and wandered a bit too far from home.

But this seemed like a pretty cool place to kill some time. Goro looked around him, taking in the misty air and mountainous terrain he was surrounded by. There wasn't any proper mountain trail - or if there was, he was way off the beaten path. The frog pokemon shrugged and continued on, ambling along with a carefree and leisurely air around him.

Goro hummed to himself thoughtfully, absorbing the information that Beryl so helpfully provided. He knew a pokemon or two who might know what all of this stuff did, so before he went to go sell it all, he'd run it by them and see what they were worth. Some of this stuff he might want to keep, though, judging by all the weird things they could do.

"Yeah," the croagunk agreed easily. "Could just stay here, as long as we have another one of them orbs to kick those guys out again. Or we could go lookin' for someplace safer - whatever you're cool with." he said, clearly fine with whatever his steel-type companion wanted to do. He pushed himself back up onto his feet, done collecting his items. Tying his bindle back up together, he hauled it over his shoulder before taking a look at their surroundings.

They were still very much alone, which meant that wherever Beryl sent those guys, it wasn't anywhere close. If they'd been taken just down the road, they would have been back by now. The only company he noticed were a few flying pokemon in the sky, a mandibuzz and its vullaby kid. It seemed they were just heading from one place to another, either not noticing him and Beryl or just not interested. That, and an absol loping around on a higher point on the mountain, but it just shot the two of them a disdainful look before turning a corner and leaving them to their business.

+1 energy (new page, gonna pop a reviver seed after this for energy for the echo world baybee)

Shawn pretty much knew for a fact that staying in a known den of thieves was a terrible idea logically. It was pretty much the worst decision one could probably make in this situation, in fact. It was just... after all this, and after seeing Goro demonstrate on two separate occasions that he was more than capable of putting down any dangers that presented themselves... the zorua actually felt confident in taking such a risk. Why not, after all? Even if all of those pokemon managed to make it back before Shawn and Goro could leave, what were they going to do against their own entire arsenal of supplies? As long as somebody was awake to watch and activate another spurn orb in the worst case scenario, they were basically right as rain.

Beryl paused for a moment to consider. They looked around, as if they were waiting to see if any other dangers would present themselves suddenly. When none did, the Bisharp shrugged and put their hands on their hips with a light attitude surrounding them. "Eeeeeh... it's not wise per say, but honestly? I don't see why not. We've got the item advantage here, and we fought pretty hard to win this area over. May as well use it, right?" they mused lightheartedly. "Maybe we don't sleep exactly right here in this spot, but if we climb up to the top of this area or something we'll have a pretty good vantage on this area in case anybody comes back- assuming they even do when there's nothing left for them here..."

Beryl walked out of the area that held the thieves' stash and around a ways until they found an area that was suitable for climbing.

Once a proper camp and fire had been established in the chosen location, Shawn settled down and took out one of the berries that they had stolen from the thieves. He knew how valuable the particular berries were and he hated to eat it, but he needed to get his energy back up and he almost certainly did not trust Goro to cover a watch shift, even while sleeping. Shawn contemplated just letting him sleep through the entirety of the night- steel types didn't have to sleep, right?

...Shawn then realized that if he was just going to let Goro sleep anyways... he always had those drinks he had brought from the inn. Maybe this was a good time to see if Goro would be any more forthcoming with information on the stuff...

"...So, what do you like to do in your spare time when you're not working? Got any favorite hangout spots?" Beryl asked after having been relatively silent during the camp setup.

Shawn the Zorua - 0 + 1 (new page) + 15 (sitrus berry) - 5 (echo world entry) = 11 energy

"Sounds good to me," Goro agreed easily, hefting his things and following after the bisharp.

It was a pretty smart plan to him - hiding just out of sight, but still taking advantage of the shelter the thieves' den provided. The two of them found a nice little spot up the mountain, sheltered by a bit of cliffside behind them that also offered a pretty decent view of the rock quarry below that served as the entrance to the cave.

He was caught off guard when the steel-type aimed a question at him, as he was halfway through biting into a weird-looking seed. It worked its magic while he thought about his answer, knitting his wounds and filling him with energy. "Cattail Marsh," he said immediately. That one was a no-brainer. He was absolutely smitten with his home in the swamp. "That's where I used to hang around the most... nowadays I'm spending all my time traveling, though. I can't say I found  a place yet that I like anywhere near as much."

Goro hummed to himself, sitting down by the fire and dropping his bindle. Home was where his heart was, but where else did he manage to have a good time? "I guess there's this little bar down in Rainfront," the croagunk allowed. "It's run by this real nice lady. She makes good food and good drinks." The good drink part was a little bit debatable considering how bad of shape he was in afterward, but from what he could remember, both beverages tasted pretty well before they killed him. "How 'bout you?" he said after finishing, actually a little curious about where Beryl spent his off time.
