With Adam now a team member, it seemed appropriate to take a job from the bulletin. The Abra liked the job they chose. It seemed simple enough for them, get the blue box and return it to the client Pokemon. They just had to make sure it remained shut which should not be a problem for the team. Perhaps the psychic type was underestimating the difficulty of the job, but he would find out soon enough.
Even with the sun out, the mist made it difficult to find what they were looking for. Clyde walked a little more slowly so that he would not miss a single detail. Occasionally he wouldn't be paying attention to anything else and would trip over a tree root or stub his toe.
"Where do you think it is? With my luck it will be at the very top of the hill burried under rocks or something like that." Clyde joked about the rocks thing, but the box could be at the top of the hill or ten feet away. It was difficult to tell. Or maybe a Pokemon decided to pick it up and is carrying it around on its back. |

How hard could finding a locked box in a misty hill be? It was a fitting mission for the duo, seeing as they lacked the necessary experience to take on a much harder mission. The reward was fitting (seeing as Adamantine couldn't eat efficiently anyways and thus didn't necessarily care about the Oran Berry), the location was to somewhere it had been before, and it was low enough rank for acceptance. "I would assume that perhaps a feral Pokémon would have stumbled upon the box and collected it, assuming it was like the other Boxes that randomly generate around the area." It was highly likely that some random Pokémon picked it up by mistake, and that's what made it so dangerous to the completion of the mission. If the box was opened, it would result in failure.
...I suppose there are some things that I am not meant to uncover. I will restrain my curiosity and resist the temptation to open the box. it thought with a slight nod. The sun glinted against its sleek body, dulling the shine enough as to not cause glare. Mist surrounded the area regardless, stopping any indication of its presence from farther than a few feet except for its glowing, red eye. The Steel type hesitated, remembering its first time here with a Minun, Caterpie, and Absol. "My last experience here was an odd one, to be honest. It was as if I was entrusted with a toddler." Adamantine stated flatly with a spaced out look. Raze was an interesting character, to say the least, but that wasn't what the Beldum wanted to think about at the moment. The stress from that exploration was almost unbearable.

| "What happened last time?" The story sounded like a humorous one, and it would give the two something to talk about while they searched for the box. Not only that, but they would hopefully bond over the story. Maybe become a little closer. If they wanted to work well together going forward, they will have to open up more to eachother. The psychic type didn't think it would be hard for them though.
Clyde also wondered what was in the box the Karablast did not want them to see. The Abra wanted to know, but he has to respect the privacy of the client. He just hoped a feral Pokemon hadn't decided to open it and take whatever was inside. That would result in the failure of the mission, and an angry client when they returned. The team of two did not want to fail their first job, so succeeding was the only option. |

"T'was intriguing, to say the least. I was accompanied by an electric, negatively charged rodent who was afraid of ghosts, a caterpillar with enough innocence to ignore a jumpscare, and a wounded Absol with a powerful moveset." it explained. In fact, Adamantine wasn't exactly sure how to describe the adventure more; it was so caught up in the moment that it didn't remember details as well as it was used to. Having a nearly photographic memory wasn't to be put to good use if the Beldum wasn't even aware of half of the actions that were happening. I shall exercise caution and notice more vague details in my explorations from here forward. it swore with a small nod.
"I do not recall any more details. Having to attempt to recollect them is difficult. I apologize if I disappointed you with my lack of focus on the specifics." the robot-like Pokémon stated. It didn't have many goals before, but Adamantine had added a new one to its short list; not to disappoint its partner. Though almost broken, Adam was reassured that Clyde wouldn't mind that it couldn't recall the details. "And with that, I return the question to you. How have your previous endeavors been met or pursued?"

| Clyde laughed at the Beldum's story. He hoped his partner didn't mind him laughing, the Abra could t see the harm in doing so. However, some Pokemon do get easily offended and take things very seriously, so one can never be too cautious. Especially in times like these. Many strange things had happened to this world, putting many on edge.
When the Beldum asked about Clyde's previous adventures, he couldn't really think of much. "Well, I was escorted to the guild from my home village. After that, I created a team of one and didn't do much after that. I guess I was too scared to do things by myself." It made the psychic type feel better knowing someone was with him. He felt like he could count on his partner to have his back at all times, especially on missions. Clyde just hoped he would be able to watch out for Adam in return.
"Where did you come from before coming to the guild?" It would be nice if the Pokemon shared his past. Clyde doubted Adam was some former outlaw of a terrible gang, but looks can be deceiving. Asking this question also gave them more to talk about. |

"Ah, you wish to know of my origins, no?" it stated with a pleased expression. Clyde's curiosity of how Adamantine even got this far was a relief; it was better to explain now than later. "Before the guild, I was hatched and raised in a flock of Beldum. It was an odd form of unity, but I managed to thrive along with my kind. In a way, it was a network of minds all connected into one. That is what the supposed cause of earlier evolution was among Beldum; the more minds linked in one network, the easier evolution becomes." Of course, evolution without other Beldum present was still possible, but it required more combat experience than usual. The development cycle had to cover the same amount as two, so performing it alone naturally took much longer.
This part of the story always was a bit hard for Adamantine to word without being forced into a nostalgic flashback. "It was affected by my abandonment. I decided to break away from the flock, unfortunately being injured in the process. It was when I awakened did I meet a peculiar Aron. They were my first companion outside of the group, and the Pokémon that gave me my name: Adamantine. However, I thanked them and left them after a while in pursuit of the Guild and to pursue my desire to aid those who need it." The Steel type's entire explanation seemed brief, but that didn't mean the details weren't all there. If Clyde had any questions, it was sure that it could vividly describe each moment of its past.

| "Interesting." Clyde enjoyed hearing a little bit about his past. At least he was not some psycho murderer on the loose, or at least he did not seem like one. The psychic type also found it interesting how the Beldum relied on each other in order to evolve. Normally, Pokemon did not need partners to help them evolve, however, some species did. The Abra enjoyed hearing about it.
As Clyde continued down the path with his partner, he kept an eye out for their hidden treasure. He would not be surprised if they had to fight a Pokemon or two in order to retrieve it. Whatever obstacle appeared, Clyde was confident in their abilities. While they were new, they were far from weak.
"I hope a key is required for this box, because any Pokemon would have opened it after finding it." Clyde knew he would open it if he came across some sort of container. Curiosity is what drives the mind and causes discoveries to be made. If Pokemon were not curious, they would remain blind to what the world contained. |

Adamantine simply nodded at the comment. "Indeed, having some sort of locking mechanism on the box will allow us to better protect it. Luckily, the parcel appears to be locked with such a device." it said with a somewhat pleased expression. The mission directions clearly stated that it was "locked up tight", so it was only to be assumed that it was secured. "I have my theories as to the contents of the box. The clients are a Karrablast and a Shelmet, two Pokémon species commonly known to evolve around each other... It could contain an item to assist in evolution. However, that is nothing more than an educated guess."
When the Steel type promised to "keep an eye out" for the treasure, it literally kept an eye out. Adam's eye hadn't retracted close to its body in quite a while during the search. Now would seem like an appropriate time to rest. Both Clyde and I have been through a significant distance. it thought. With this, the Beldum stopped in its tracks and let its body hit the floor with a thud. "This would seem like an ample time to regather out bearings. We could also search this particular area if you are interested."

| Clyde nodded in agreement with his partner. A break sounded good to him. It would give him a chance to rest his feet and perhaps do a brief meditation if time allows. So far, he enjoyed this little adventure they were embarking on. It gave them a chance to strengthen their bond as a team, and also gave them experience. They would need as much experience as possible for the tougher jobs.
"So, where do you think we should go from here?" He felt it necessary to have plan before proceeding. Clyde thought for a second while he awaited his partner's response. It would be difficult to just walk around and hope they find it, so having some sort of direction would make things easier for the two. |

To be truthful, Adamantine had no clue where to start looking. Pricklemist Hill was a big place, so searching the perimeter and moving inward after would take too long. "That is the difficult part. The client left us no certain path of travel, so they could have dropped it anywhere. Seeing as there is a path, however, I assume that the box is located along such marked walkways." it explained with a headtilt. Had the clients followed the path, or did they stray from it in search of adventure? The most the Steel type could do was guess, so the path was probably their best bet as to the location of the box.
"Another matter pressures our endeavor: the chance of feral Pokémon encountering us. I assume that we will support each other in combat to the best of our abilities, so that shouldn't be a problem if everything occurs according to plan." the Beldum stated. Though they had just met recently, it could tell that Clyde wasn't a pushover in battle. Had they not decided to take a mission, Adam wouldn't mind challenging him to a friendly sparring match to train.
