House of Hallways - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyTue Aug 18, 2015 7:08 pm

First topic message reminder :

Varda was quite exhausted! The trip through the odd house had been very taxing already, but when he had to make a quick trip back to the little town with a Glaceon on his back... Well, it certainly had been something, alright! Luckily he didn't have to carry his friend back, as they had been lucky and there was a Pokémon who could deal with their injuries for a small compensation, so they could just rush to the spooky weird house as soon as their legs – and wings – allowed them to! They had lost some valuable time doing this, but the bird believed he had done the right decision on his own, without Sova's help...

The house felt strange this time. They had been through such strange rooms on their first visit, but now the door they took sent them to an odd, extremely long hallway. It was rather narrow compared to many rooms they had seen before, but the hallway was wide enough to let a couple of Pokémon to walk side by side. There were no doors the bird could see, there hadn't been any doors for a while since the last one they took. As usual, there were various candles on the walls lighting up the gloomy house, some dark spots left behind by the dim lighting. The floorboards creaked under the pair of Pokémon and the old wallpaper was ripped in many places, revealing old wooden panels.

PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyThu Dec 03, 2015 3:18 am

Varda tilted his head slightly as Sova spoke. Well, it was true that they couldn't stay here and wait for the ghost to wake up – unless she was about to regain her consciousness like, right now. The bird glanced in the Pokémon's direction, but she didn't seem like she was making any signs of recovery yet. It didn't seem like their problem would get solved quite that easily, so… They had to take her with them, right? Sova seemed to be against that too, but Varda didn't see a reason why they shouldn't do it. Surely it wouldn't waste any time!

But then Nevi decided to speak. While she believed that anyone who lived in this house would be safe from other Pokémon – something the Altaria wasn't entirely sure about, considering what he had seen earlier, though maybe that was different as a fight had already started, But… There had to be some truth to those words, right? Otherwise no one would want to live in this house, surely! It did make the option of just leaving her behind better, but it still didn't seem proper.

Until Nevi offered to stay behind herself, just in case. Varda blinked, finding it a bit unexpected. That would mean they were going to part ways now, so soon after meeting… And they might never see each other again. But when Jak asked if Nevi could actually handle it, the bird just had to chime in.
"Of course she would be! Nevi knows what she's doing, so there's no reason to worry," he chirped, smiling.

Sova just fell silent at Nevi's offer. He didn't want to answer until he knew if this was good enough for the others to be morally satisfied. It was clear no one other than himself was willing to put their moral views aside, but it wasn't like he WANTED to. He didn't enjoy having to do things that made him look and feel like a bad guy, but he was willing to if it was necessary. But it seemed he wouldn't have to worry about it since Nevi had pretty much saved the situation. Varda seemed completely okay with this compromise, too. Jak seemed less okay with it, but still perhaps willing to make that compromise.

"Is it settled, then?" the glaceon questioned and looked around at everyone.
He was hoping to get on with whatever they were going to do as soon as possible, and perhaps he looked immoral for that. Maybe he was immoral, but either way, strong morals just got in the way of things. A "Varda" way of doing things wasn't always the best way. But having someone stay behind to guard the froslass seemed like a pretty good compromise, since it satisfied both sides. Or at least, he very much hoped so.

Nevi was confident she could guard someone who likely wasn't even going to be in any danger, so she felt fine in saying she could. However, it seemed she didn't need to, as the fluffy bird spoke for her, perhaps being a bit more flattering than she would have been. She simply wasn't worried about anything bad happening. After Varda's testament to her ability to handle such a task, she gave a quick nod to show it was true and she would be fine. Then the glaceon asked if everyone was in agreement.

Well, was she in agreement? It didn't matter too much to her to stay behind and watch the other froslass. It wasn't like it was a big deal, considering she lived here. She didn't like the idea of leaving the group, specifically Varda, but they'd have to part ways sooner or later anyway. Besides, it would probably be better for her to part ways with this group before whatever fight they were going to get themselves into, so she wouldn't get in the way. But she wasn't going to completely agree to it until everyone else was in agreement that it was what they wanted.

After Jak had asked the question, a response came from Varda instead. Varda had decided to chime in the matter, with the ghost type simply nodding its head in agreement with the bird. Jak felt reassured that the other froslass was safe with the response. The fire type then turned towards Sova as he questioned if everything was settled. He responded with a simple nod to show his agreement that he was alright with the compromise.

Jak looked around the area to see if there was anything he could use to place the froslass on. After all, he was still holding onto her since she passed out. If anyone had a suggestion on where he should place her that was safe, he would do so.

((Have permission to have him place her anywhere that is safe, no aggression))

House of Hallways - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyFri Dec 04, 2015 12:02 pm

Varda's eyes shifted from one Pokémon to another, trying to confirm what everyone was thinking of when Sova asked if everyone was fine with the plan. The plan that had suddenly been developed and he hadn't even realized it was about to happen, but there they were! Honestly, he was fine with it. He knew they could trust Nevi to keep an unconscious Pokémon safe. The bird's eyes lingered on Jak, as he was the most unsure about that Pokémon's opinion… But in the end, it seemed like he agreed with it too, giving them all a nod.

The Altaria smiled, feeling happy when everyone agreed! Even if, well, it wasn't all that nice to leave someone behind and it would have been so much better had they all continued their journey together, but… Maybe this was all they could do. They had limited time, and… No. They weren't too late yet. That much he knew.

Varda did notice how Jak was looking for a good place for the unconscious ghost, as just putting her on the floor wouldn't be nice! How considerate. The blue bird decided to try to help, his head glancing from side to side as he tried to find something… And then, his eyes grew larger. The Altaria spread his wings, hopping into the air as he glided over to an odd piece of tapestry of some kind hanging down the wall. Pulling it off, Varda brought it back to the group – flying rather low, not having realized how heavy such a large piece of cloth would actually be in his talons.

The tapestry was placed on the ground and the bird immediately set off to work, landing on it and shaping and fluffing it up with his beak until it was a good nest. Well, as good of a nest as one could make hastily.
"Here!"

House of Hallways - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyFri Dec 04, 2015 10:16 pm

Nevi watched as a bed of sorts was made for her fallen housemate, and she had to admit it looked nicer than the floor. She saw Sova seemingly leaving the second that was all taken care of and considered saying something, but the glaceon spoke first. It wasn't exactly a goodbye to her, though she hadn't expected something of the sort.... at least not from this glaceon. But it was a statement with a very dark undertone to it. It almost seemed like some kind of warning, and it also happened to be the first time she'd noticed an emotion in the glaceon other than anger.... His voice sounded a bit shaky near the end of it.... Fear?

Sova sighed in relief at everyone being in agreement on the current plan. Despite his extremely rough start with Nevi, he was kind of sad to have to part ways with her so soon.... but.... oh well. He wasn't in a place to cater to what he personally wanted at the moment. What was at stake currently was quite literally the world, which his feelings came second to. Most of the world, he didn't care much about, but there were some he actually wanted to protect, and if things were going to keep spiraling downward in the world.... Well, all he knew was that he wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible and through any means necessary, before anyone he cared about was affected.

Perhaps the others didn't feel this. Perhaps they hadn't considered that at any moment, someone they cared about could be succumbing to the spontaneous insanity. Every moment they wasted worrying about someone who was going to be fine regardless was a moment an innocent was probably being irredeemably corrupted. He wasn't going to tell them this. He figured if anything, it would just make everyone feel bad. It was better if it was just himself feeling bad, since it seemed he could handle feeling a little upset better than Jak and Varda. Actually, maybe Varda did handle being upset well, so well he just never noticed the bird getting upset.

The glaceon watched as a random tapestry was torn off a wall. It took him a minute to actually figure out what this was for. Oh, it was something for the unconscious froslass to be put on that wasn't the floor. Varda even worked some bird-magic and fluffed it into a bit of a makeshift nest, which didn't actually look too bad to sleep on, especially in comparison to the cold, hard floor. He watched Jak place the froslass down then turned toward the ice-tunnel-thing and starting off toward it. "Hey, uh.... it seemed like she was pretty worried," he spoke up, stopping in his tracks.

"There's a good chance our lives will be in danger if we do this, but there aren't any other options. So.... if you guys prefer living, just leave. I've managed on my own plenty, and.... there's a good chance...." he continued without so much as even turning around.
He didn't skip a beat in his little mini-speech until the last bit, where he wanted to say something he just couldn't seem to bring himself to and his voice began to audibly shake. He was a bit worried. More than a bit.

As much as he wanted to convince himself to just be blindly overconfident, he knew deep down inside that they were certainly waking something up and that it was not going to be nice. He also knew it apparently had enough power to cause the chaos currently going on in the world. So there was a good chance.... someone would die. He didn't like the thought of dying himself, but he liked the idea of others he actually cared about dying even less. Especially Varda.... He didn't want the others to put their lives at risk when he could do all the risk-taking alone, but he just couldn't bring himself to say it.

"Just go back."

(Assuming that's permission to have Jak drop his cargo. Now we can all move on to the 5,000 pokermanz we rolled that are pretty much required to be hostile due to it being in the description of the chateau)

As Jak had been looking around for a moment, he noticed Varda started after something on the wall. The bird pulled the tapestry down and brought it over towards the group. After placing it down, Jak watched the bird land on the tapestry, fluffing it into a nest.

As the bird directed Jak’s attention to the bedding. He simply nodded as he walked over with the ghost type, gently placing the ghost type in makeshift bed. Jak then looked towards Varda and nodded once more, showing his sign of thanking the flying type.

As Jak turned to face the tunnel that the group had made. He stopped and stared into the tunnel before Sova had started to walk ahead. He watched the tunnel very carefully as he could have sworn he saw something move on the other side.

As the ice type began to speak just after stopping, Jak failed to acknowledge it as he was too focused on what he was looking at. Something felt off, but what… Eventually returning back to reality, just hearing the ice type state that it was going to be dangerous to go with him. Sova was going along the lines that they should go back without him. Dangerous? Is he serious? thought to himself in slight annoyance. However, he understood the meaning and wasn’t upset at all. He knew the ice type didn’t want them to get hurt.

After the ice type finished speaking, the fire type shook his head repeatedly. “I came here to help fix this disaster... I will not leave.” Jak stated as he stared at the ice type. He didn’t express anger at all, but rather simply stating that he will not accept such advice. After a moment, he added one last comment. “Besides, if this thing is as tough as we think it is… Working as a team will be the only option.”

PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptySun Dec 06, 2015 7:37 am

Varda stepped back, proud of his little nest. He couldn't wait to have someone use it! And well, that someone had been decided a long time ago in this case, so all he could do was give space to Jak as the Pokémon gently placed the unconscious ghost on the makeshift bed. The two Pokémon just nodded at each other in silence. And no, the fainted Pokémon didn't wake up when she was placed down, either. It really was looking like she wouldn't get up before after they had left. There was no way for all of them to go together…

Sova already started to walk towards the tunnel, signaling that it was their time to go. The bird turned to look at Nevi, the Pokémon that had agreed to stay behind and look out for the ghost. They had just met, and barely knew each other, but… That was just the start of a new friendship, right? The Altaria felt saddened, but still he smiled and extended a wing to wave at Nevi, not wanting to dwell on goodbyes. This wasn't a goodbye! It was more like… A temporary split up.

Varda scurried after Sova, though he was soon forced to stop when the icy fox did the same and started to speak. The blue bird tilted his head, looking a bit confused as he listened. Sova was worried. There were dangers. These things they all knew. Probably. He hadn't really managed to get that far in this plan yet, just moving on one step at a time. He hadn't even managed to form a response before Jak replied, causing the bird's confusion turn into determination. Jak was right! The Altaria nodded.

"Um, yes!" He chirped, walking closer to the Glaceon,
"We shouldn't split up more. There's strength in numbers," the Altaria added, looking down at the shorter Ice-type – and smiling.

House of Hallways - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyMon Dec 07, 2015 1:38 am

Sova just stood there as he began to accept the very real danger of this situation.  His ears began to droop, he knew the others weren't going to leave and it made him sad.  Sure enough, both answers were a definite "no," and he didn't plan on trying to force them into leaving.  He merely let out a slight, weak "Heh," before continuing forward without even looking back.
The way they'd made it sound, he could at least assume that they weren't staying for him and were just doing it because the world was in danger, but.... he knew they'd probably stick around regardless of that.  Or at least, Varda surely would.

The glaceon entered the tunnel silently and remained silent most of the way through.  Near the end, however, he began to speak once more.  "Well then.... let's hope Lord Dark and Gloomy likes visi-"

Just as he reached the other side of the tunnel, his speech was cut off and his ears shot up.  He just barely noticed something out of his peripheral vision to the left, sadly not having enough time to react before a Shadow Ball flew into his chest, exploding and sending him flying off his paws.  He tumbled in a circle before being forced to a halt against the wall very painfully and with an audible thud and the sound of something shattering.  However, it wasn't him that had broken; he'd managed to freeze his fur back into armor just in time to absorb some of the impact damage against the wall, and some of the ice had broken off from the hit.

The glaceon groaned with a headache coming on as he tried to get up and gather what'd just happened.  He currently had a bit of double vision and a distinct dizziness, which made him immediately fall against the wall and slide back to the ground.  Whatever had just happened, it was certainly a bad thing.  Unbeknownst to him, quite a hoard had gathered on the other side of the snow barricade in wait for the group upon hearing of what they were aiming to do.  Just like a certain misguided froslass, they all intended to stop the music box from being assembled and played.  Apparently, word traveled fast in this place when it needed to.

More importantly, a piece of the box was there.... the most important piece, the CASING, the thing they needed to assemble all of the pieces.  It was currently being held by a sableye at the end of the hall, which was only about 20 feet away as the hall's layout had drastically changed in the time it'd been hidden from view.  There was currently only one door to escape through, yet the sableye didn't seem to want to go through it.

(I didn't mention Nevi because I'm gonna have one of the enemies destroy the tunnel before she can get through to help.  If Birb would like to do the honors of tunnel-destroying instead, by all means, get it done sooner.  :D)

Jak glanced towards Varda as he stated that they shouldn’t split up, giving the same idea he had. However, the need to help solve this problem wasn’t the only thing that motivated him. Although he knew the ice type could handle himself, even better than himself. He felt something was wrong about the whole situation they were in. He was fairly certain that it would be best to stick in a group and work together, as Varda had said… strength in numbers.

Jak started to enter the tunnel, following behind Sova. He kept his eyes moving from side to side as he watched for any movement. The unsettling feeling he had and the movement he believed he saw earlier. He felt either he was being paranoid, or something was up. Unfortunately, as the ice fox reached the end of the tunnel. The latter turned out to be true, as something was indeed up. A black ball of energy shot out from the darkness of the hallway ahead and caught Sova off guard.

This all took place so fast, practically nobody had time to react. “Sova!” Jak quickly rushed forward towards the exit of the tunnel and began to unleash a torrent of flame deter any other attackers from attacking. This should give time for the others to recover and react accordingly. However, his little move had one drawback he would quickly discover. As the torrent began to fill the space ahead, a sudden shift of air occurred as the flames spread out sideways and back towards him. Something had deflected his move and is forcing it to come straight back at him!

The flames approaching him rapidly, he had too little time to react. The small space caused the flames to spread back quickly.  Jak only had the time to shield his face. The fire type was quickly engulfed in his own flames. Jak crossed his arms in front of his face to shield it, holding his ground as the inferno hit him. When the flames stopped, he remained still, eventually dropping his arms from their protective position. He was completely stunned by what had just happened.

The outer walls of the tunnel seemed shinier than before. This hinted towards the fact that some of the ice that coated it had melted. The ice now becoming more fragile with the existing weight on it. This would make it easy for a Pokémon to force it to collapse.

House of Hallways - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyTue Dec 08, 2015 1:51 am

Varda followed the two Pokémon, entering the icy tunnel. It was a rare treat for him to see something like it, often spending his time in warmer climates… And for a good reason. Even inside the tunnel, he could feel how the freezing cold radiated from the ice, turning the ice inside dry and cold – icy, one could even describe it! But the way the smooth surface inside reflected the light, it made everything seem oddly bright compared to the dreary and gloomy hallway outside, though everything did have a strange blue-ish tint to it. But the Altaria felt like he liked it. It was interesting, the tunnel wasn't too long. With a smile, he just took in the sights.

An explosion forced the bird to stop in confusion, a sound of something then cracking as the slippery surface under his feet even seemed to shake! But he managed to stay on his feet, quickly straightening his posture as he glanced through the hole. It took him a moment to realize what was happening, but it seemed like they were under attack already! Sova had taken the hit, and along Jak, Varda quickly started to run towards their friend to aid…

But as the firey Pokémon unleashed is flamey breath, it was soon directed everywhere but where he wanted to go – as far as the bird knew. The fire was pushed back, forcing the Altaria to hop backwards as well so he wouldn't be singed! In a moment, the tunnel was filled with heat that might have been quite unbearable… But when it just washed over him for a moment, it wasn't too bad!

A droplet of water fell on the bird's beak, causing Varda to jump and shudder from the unexpectedness of it. He looked up, and… Well, everything looked very nice and shiny. And then another drop fell on his face. It was a bit more annoying, but he didn't even realize how bad that exactly was – not until a purple, floating ghost appeared out of thin air outside the tunnel, in front of the Sableye. Its disconnected, floating hands glowed with an odd purple darkness before it swiped at the air, a ball of darkness shooting out at the weakened ice tunnel.

It hit the wall, exploding… And after a small silence, there was a crack. Then another, and another, until they became quite apparent even inside the tunnel. Pieces of ice started shifting, no longer able to hold their shape together under all the weight.
"Oh, um," Varda chirped as he looked up, trying to dodge the tiny shard of ice that fell from the ceiling to the icy floor. Now he knew what was going to happen! Without wasting any more time, the bird took off, his feet slipping on the ice a bit as he ran towards the exit.
"Goooo!"

House of Hallways - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: House of Hallways   House of Hallways - Page 13 EmptyTue Dec 08, 2015 12:49 pm

A headache, a bodyache, dizziness.... that was not a very comfortable combination. But Sova ignored it all and pulled himself back up to his paws, forcing his eyes open. Everything was a bit out of focus, but he could tell that they were being attacked. More importantly.... there were a lot of enemies. Well, so much for him trying to conserve his energy, because there was no way he could miss a beat here trying to be conservative.

The air around the glaceon began to cool, but just as soon as it'd started, a fire erupted from.... his ally. Oh great, using fire near him, it would heat up the room and he wouldn't be able to keep his own body cool! However, that slight problem suddenly became less important when the fire turned around and went back to the sender. Luckily, he'd been about as far away as it was possible to get in this situation, so the fire still just heated the area around him. As things started to come into focus, he spotted a froslass attacking the tunnel and realized the goal was to bring it down. But wait, where was Varda? Still inside!?

Despite the area still being recently heated by fire, the air's temperature rapidly dropped and his fur flash-froze to repair the damage that'd been done. He then bolted across the room, and it seemed most of the enemies had trouble keeping up with his sudden speed. That was okay though, since he wasn't after most of them. He leaped into the air just as he neared the froslass and rammed into it with his ice-quills, forcing it out of the air and bringing it down to the ground. Upon impact, he rolled off the froslass and onto his paws, paying complete attention to the area around him.

First thing to attempt to attack the glaceon was a lampent, sending a flamethrower toward him. He took in a quick breath and blew out a white, freezing mist that quickly overtook the weak flamethrower and engulfed the attacker. He noticed a Shadow Ball coming at him from one of the many enemies and quickly lifted the froslass up by one of its arm.... things to absorb the impact for him. It worked and he barely even felt the explosion through his shield, but he wasn't finished yet. He spun the froslass in a circle around him before releasing, sending it flying into the lampent from earlier and knocking both to the ground.

Being so caught up in fighting, Sova failed to notice the tunnel they'd come from beginning to collapse. He couldn't misplace a single step considering he was purposely making himself the center of attention here, so the entirety of his focus needed to be on fighting. As long as he was at least distracting the enemies, his friends would have an easier time with whatever they decided to do! Another Shadow Ball came at him, but he had to focus more on avoiding it than figuring out who or what seemed to be favoring him. He stepped to the side and the dark orb was sent flying past him, into a wall. He couldn't let himself take another hit, no matter what.

Of course, Nevi had heard the commotion. She hesitated at first, given she wasn't sure what was going on, but it quickly became apparent it was something violent and dangerous in nature. She looked down at the other froslass she was supposed to watch, then over to the tunnel, and after a moment of hesitation, decided to go for the tunnel. However, cracking sounds made her pause at the entrance out of fear that it was going to come crashing down on her. After waiting a moment to see if it was going to fall, she moved to enter when it seemed it wouldn't. But then it did. The frozen snow began to break apart within the tunnel, quickly making it impossible to get through, so she had to back away. It seemed there was nothing this froslass could do to help from this point forward.

As Jak shook off the backfired attack, he flinched slightly when he heard several explosions from above. Shadowy orbs repeated hit the top of the tunnel until it started to collapse. Jak quickly realized they needed to get out of that area before it collapsed, running towards the exit of the tunnel, he met up with three different froslass that surrounded all possible paths for him.

Jak let out a slight growl as he became annoyed with the situation. Two of the ghost types lifted their arms as the air began to shift and get colder. The froslass in the center put its arms together as a bluish white light glowed in the center. As Jak noticed this, he began to build up flame to counter whatever move it was using.

The air became thick with fog as the air started to pick up. It only took a few seconds before it was a full white out from the powdery dust that was carried in the wind rushed towards Jak. Powder snow, that alone can be dangerous but it seemed much thicker than usual. The two ghost types combined the attack to make it stronger!! Jak quickly unleashed his flames to heat up the air ahead of him before it reached him. However, once he did that. The third ghost quickly shot the light forward into a beam of icy energy, countering Jak’s flamethrower.

The icy tunnel was breaking, a large block of ice detaching itself from the ceiling and falling on the icy tunnel floor behind Varda, creating a loud crash and a gust of air that just pushed the bird forward. Not that he was complaining, as he got quite the speed boost, sliding across the tunnel. There was just a little problem when it came to exiting, however: Jak was right there, battling a trio of those icy ghost things like Nevi… And once more, the air started to get colder as they used their ice powers, white, powdery snow appearing in the hallway.

The Altaria didn't want to accidentally bump into his new friend and break his concentration, so once he got close enough, he spread his wings and took flight! Behind him he could feel how the tunnel was breaking apart, bits and pieces of it falling down as he got out just in time. He hadn't noticed the fire erupting from the lizard's mouth or the opposing beam of ice, however, the realization of him maybe somehow getting his slowly creeping into his mind, but his body did not have time to react.

The two energies collided, fire trying to overtake ice and vice versa. The ghost looked to be concentrating very hard, her eyes narrow as the beam of ice crept closer and closer to Jak, forcing the flames aside… Until the fire finally took over, swallowing the ice. The strong burst of flames just erupted, and with no ice beam trying to block it, the ghost was swallowed by the firey explosion as well, falling from the sky.

From the cloud of falling snow, ice, smoke and fire, Varda shot out. The tips of his feathers were slightly singed, but otherwise the bird was feeling better than he had expected! He didn't even hurt. But he did figure that a certain other Pokémon in this room might have been feeling differently, so the Altaria landed close to the Glaceon.

Sova prepared to attack the froslass once more, feeling its life was forfeit since it'd struck first and he REALLY wanted to let loose on something. However, the ghost suddenly disappeared before he could do anything, leaving behind an afterimage. He could tell it was Double Team, having been against it too many times to be fooled quite that easily. He began looking around for the ghost, but his attention was pulled away from that matter by yet another Shadow Ball aimed at him. Again, he had to quickly jump out of the way of it, and again, he failed entirely to figure out where it'd come from. Before he could figure out out, a sudden bright light caught his attention, and it was hard not to notice it.

Fire, something many Ice-types would probably be intimidated by. But Sova was far enough away that it wasn't a threat to him, and even if that weren't the case, he felt like he could take an attack from Jak, someone who hadn't even fully evolved. Well.... in his current state, that was questionable, as he was desperately trying to avoid attacks for fear of taking too much damage. Either way, the fire wasn't threatening him so he didn't have to worry about it, and he figured Jak could handle that little situation alone. So, with this in mind, he decided to pick out another random unlucky enemy to-

Then Varda landed next to him, with slightly singed feathers, but no apparent injuries. Had the bird.... gone through the fire? Whatever, that wasn't important right now! The sudden bird landing next to him distracted him long enough to not notice another attack coming his way, but this time, it wasn't directed toward him. If he'd noticed a sableye pressing its hands against the floor, he could have realized it was an attack and stopped it. If he'd noticed the shadow stretching across the floor sooner, he could have warned Varda. He was pretty sure Varda wouldn't notice if left alone, since the shadows were stretching around the altaria to hit from behind.

Oh well.

"Look out!" the glaceon spoke up and bolted around the altaria just in time to block the attack with his body, specifically his left side. Black spikes suddenly struck out from the ground, but they were all stopped by his ice-armored body. "Move before this actually hurts me," he requested in a bit of a strained voice.
If Varda didn't move quickly, he would have to stay put to hold back the attack, and that would open him up to more attacks. And while this Shadow Sneak was fairly weak, he was not currently in a good condition and doubted he could completely negate it for very long.

If the others had just left, he wouldn't have had to worry about their safety. He could have just whipped up a blizzard to get rid of all these pests and went all out without worrying about hurting any allies. Well, actually, he wasn't entirely sure he even had enough left in him to pull off an all-out blizzard, so perhaps he was wrong to think he could so easily do this alone. Still, Varda had just landed in the middle of a fight instead of keeping the advantage of flight!

Jak cut his flamethrower the second it overtook the icy beam. The ghost Pokémon being completed engulfed in the inferno as its icy attack failed it. The snow that was coming towards Jak’s direction with the wind was slowed by the heat. At the point the attack reached Jak, it wasn’t nearly as harsh as it could have been, only the snow being the code thing hitting him. The air was much warmer than originally from the attack due to his fire, but was still cold enough to cause discomfort in most.

“Ice isn’t the best thing to face a fire type with you know.” Jak stated with a slight smile as he whipped up a bluish white flame and shot it towards each of the remaining ghosts. The first one he had taken out with his flamethrower earlier had already fallen, the other two now had serious risk of being burned if they did not evade the attack.
