PostSubject: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptyTue Mar 31, 2015 12:13 am

First topic message reminder :

The Life on the Line Mission Info:

The sun was high up in the sky, occasionally being covered by the clouds and causing the land below grow darker for a moment. The tall, black mountains of the mountain range didn't help in that, causing large shadows between the mighty peaks and on the land nearby. The ground was bare with only rocks, dirt and the occasional little shrub managing to force itself to grow in the harsh environment, at least protected by the wind by the nearby rocks and boulders shielding them. Mountain air never was very hot and humid, but the climate was pleasing enough and the breezy air of the higher altitudes surely would have been a welcome change of pace after a hot day. But when it came to the large canyon ripping the mountain range apart, the air was deathly still with no wind and the sunlight struggled to peek past all the sharp edges...

Varda huffed and puffed, pushing himself as hard as he could with determination sparkling in his eyes as he led the party forward. While he had pretty much flown for the rest of the journey, he had landed just because his partner could not fly himself, and the ground on the mountains could get quite tricky indeed. It was only fair for him to take a path he knew could be walked on, especially when the fall could be very... Bad. Him as a flying Pokémon had an advantage in an area like that. But Sova... He definitely did not want his friend to fall down into the depths!

Earlier that day, the Swablu had found an urgent request for a very important mission, one that would save a life. Of course he would believe a story like that and when he saw Sova in the Guild Hall nearby, he just had to explain it all and ask for help. Because it was urgent, Varda had done his best to get to the Obsidian Crevice as quickly as they could, quite fearlessly starting to descend the black-walled canyon as he hopped from one narrow ledge to another.
"Oh... Sova, are you doing well?" The bird remembered that he had a much-needed friend with him on this mission, understanding that his friend might not be able to climb down as fast as he could. He was lighter and smaller, with wings. Sova meanwhile could not risk falling...

Varda flapped his wings, having an easy way to escape the rocky ledge that seemed to be falling. He could just fly off to the side, but... But Sova wasn't as lucky! He really had no way to go, perhaps he could try to retreat but the ledge he was standing on might crumble when the heavier rocks hit it! The Swablu was conflicted and lost, not wanting to just save his own life but what could he do? He couldn't stop the rocks, they would be too heavy for him and he would be squished. He couldn't fly Sova off to safety either, as, again, the Pokémon was too heavy for him to carry. Oh, sometimes he wished that he was bigger and stronger...!

The ledge above kept cracking until the rock no longer was able to stay in its original place, beaten by gravity. It broke free and slid off, starting to fall with a nice little entourage of slightly smaller rock pieces... And the bird Pokémon called out in panic, unable to do anything about the situation. They came here to save their client's friend from a certain doom, it wasn't supposed to fall on his friend...!

But Sova had jumped. Somehow the fox-like Pokémon had managed to build enough speed and strength to do it – but then again, he really didn't seem to be having many choices left. The air around him seemed to start freezing as the Pokémon seemed to fly through the air... Though, the landing wasn't as smooth and Sova tumbled off his paws. The Swablu quickly flew to his side and landed to check the damage, looking quite worried as he cooed.

The rocks fell, some falling through the gap Sova had jumped over, others crashed on the ledge he just jumped from. Even that ledge seemed to have some cracks develop from the weight and the force, few bits and pieces crumbling down.
"Oh, Sova... Are you alright?" Varda chirped with a hopeful voice as his friend managed to stand up, even if Sova's voice was a bit shaky...

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptyThu Apr 02, 2015 11:04 pm

Sova glanced back at the chaos of rocks behind him before starting off forward once again, this time a bit slower. "Yeah, I'm fine.", he assured the bird. Nothing was broken, at least, though his landing hadn't exactly felt pleasant.
On the bright side, he'd made the jump and now they could continue moving. However, they would probably need to find a different path back once they found the monferno, given he likely wouldn't be able to jump back over with all of those rocks in the way and the monferno would probably have an even more difficult time with it. At that, the area had likely been made very unstable.

He looked around as he walked, keeping watched for any flaming monkeys. However, all he saw was what seemed to be.... another absol. This time lower down and farther off, so it was hard to make it out. Maybe the same one from last time? Again, it was looking at them. He looked up towards Varda and noticed yet another absol for a split second on yet another high area. At this point, he'd gathered that they were being followed. However, he wasn't sure if the absols were hostile....

"Varda.", he whispered as he walked, keeping a watchful eye on the two absols. "Look around. Guess we've attracted some attention....", he continued, hoping the swablu could spot the disaster pokemon following them without having to have them pointed out for him.
What did they want? Again, he tried to keep in mind that there was the possibility they had come here because they sensed an impending disaster and wanted to stop it. However, there was also the possibility that they had.... less kind motives.

The glaceon wasn't worried about a few absol, at least not worried for his own safety. Varda's, maybe, but Varda could just fly away if need be. However, there was the worry that they were clearly on the absols' turf and these absol knew their way around the rocky, dangerous crevice very well. He was actually having trouble keeping track of them, partly because the continually lowering lighting the farther down they went and partly because of how swiftly they moved around.

Varda nodded and looked quite happy at the response he got, of course enjoying the fact that his friend was fine after such a dangerous stunt! It was such a feat of luck, but obviously he wouldn't complain of the outcome.
"Ohh... I'm so glad," the bird chirped with a relieved voice, even sighing as he started to unwind the tension in his muscles. A big smile appeared on his face as he looked at the fox, though there was a hint of apologizing in his eyes as well.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help... I mean, I should have! It was dangerous and you could have gotten hurt, but I just didn't know what to do," he cooed, his gaze falling to the ground. If he couldn't even save Sova, what could he do to save the Monferno? The vision was very serious and full of danger. Surely, it would be much tougher than some falling rocks...

Their journey continued. The Swablu decided to keep waddling on the ground by foot, wanting to stay closer to Sova and, well, be there if something happened instead of just flying away. His friend had slowed his steps for him to be able to keep up easily even with his stubby little legs, though he did have to move them quite fast. The ledge was leading down and surely, they would soon be at the bottom. Hopefully it would be easier to travel there without having to worry about falling down. But that did remind him of something...
"I guess we need to find another way back up when we're done. But um, I'm sure it'll be easy when we have a lot to choose from," Varda chirped, adding some optimism to the end.

Sova suddenly whispered and the bird looked at the fox Pokémon with a slight tilt of a head before he was urged to look around. Following the suggestion, he started to look around to see what was being talked about. He finally managed to catch a glimpse of some white fur disappearing behind a boulder in the distance. The Swablu felt a bit conflicted.
"Oh... Do you think they're following us? I think they definitely have seen us," he said as he looked at Sova, not really knowing if he should be worried or happy. After all... Maybe these Pokémon were good and on their side! Getting some help with stopping the vision from coming to true would be good!
"Ah, wait. Don't they say these Pokémon show up near disasters?"

Sova honestly held no ill will towards the swablu for not helping him. He was the one who was supposed to do the helping, after all. He joined Varda on this mission so he could help, so he could protect the bird as well as the monferno they needed to find. However, he figured stating this would likely just result in more guilt on Varda's end, so he just kept silent. It wasn't like Varda was useless though; he was a great morale booster and had good ideas. He was also somewhat of a moral compass, which the glaceon could really benefit from.

Besides, he was more worried about the absols right now. "Yeah, but one thing's bothering me.... they're looking at us, following us. We aren't the disaster. Absols like to travel in packs and claim territory for their pack. I think we're in their territory.", he explained, implying he suspected these absol were not friendly.
Of course, he didn't KNOW they weren't going to be friendly, it was just a hunch.

Then a third absol abruptly jumped down from a higher up ledge, landing on the path in front of the two and blocking the glaceon's way. The other two absols seemed to stop and fully reveal their selves at that point, however, they kept their distance for the time being. "Leave.", the apparent leader of the absols who had confronted the two explorers stated, in a calm and rather non-hostile, yet still demanding tone. Its voice indicated it was female, not very young but not very old.

Sova glanced over to Varda, figuring he'd let the swablu try to handle this conflict, since he'd been so vehemently against the glaceon's way of solving problems. He wanted to see if Varda could prove the kind approach was better.

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptyFri Apr 03, 2015 3:21 am

Varda felt a bit uneasy as Sova started to speak, talking about the... Absol Pokémon as they apparently were named, the bird had been a bit unsure about the name. He knew the stories and how they looked like, though! But indeed, it was starting to seem like the Pokémon were following the two... And Sova was right. He was certain they weren't considered a disaster, just two little Pokémon! But perhaps the rock slide was?
"Oh... Do you think the way the ledge broke was a disaster?" The bird cooed. Maybe the Absol had seen that, maybe they had been watching the whole time. But they hadn't caused the rocks to break, had they? They hadn't done anything!

But maybe the pack of Pokémon was just territorial, like the fox had guessed. Maybe they wanted to make sure the two of them didn't mess up the place, but they would let them pass? It was what the Swablu hoped, but unfortunately, it didn't seem like his wishes were coming true. Suddenly, one of the white Pokémon jumped down on the ledge in front of them quite gracefully with other two showing themselves, but still keeping their distance. The bird looked a bit confused, but the order that came was quite clear and to the point. As much as he would have wanted to comply to be polite... They couldn't do it now.

"Hello," Varda chirped when he noticed that his friend wasn't speaking, taking a couple of steps forward so that he was in front of Sova. He looked up at the bigger Pokémon with large eyes, though there didn't seem to be a hint of fear in them. Indeed, even if the bird was very small, he rarely seemed to be afraid – even when he should.
"I'm sorry but... We can't. T-There's something... Um, something bad is about to happen and we have to stop it before it happens!"

The absol looked down to the little swablu, keeping a rather stoic look and attitude. "We know. That is why you must leave. We are trying to prevent disaster from befalling our own by keeping outside influences away.", she explained.

At this point, Sova decided to chime in. "Look.... I don't know who you think we are, but we aren't the cause of the disaster. We're here to stop-", he attempted to explain, but was cut off.

"I know who you are. You are a plague of violence and bloodshed where ever you go, including here, if we allow it. He can stay.... you must leave.", the absol continued, specifically reverencing Sova.

The glaceon gritted his teeth in anger as the air around him began to rapidly drop in temperature. This absol was quickly agitating him. "Just let us pass....", he muttered.

"Or else you will attack and prove me right?", the absol questioned.

Honestly, this was one battle Sova really didn't want to fight. The absol was so.... right. She clearly knew he was a trigger for bad situations and clearly, she thought he was going to end up doing something bad here. He didn't want that to happen.... but could he really leave and entrust Varda and some random absols to completing the mission without him?

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptyFri Apr 03, 2015 4:27 am

Varda's eyes seemed to grow wider when the Absol replied that they already knew about the disaster. Well... Now that he think about it, maybe it made sense as it did sound like a major thing and the thing these Pokémon were known for was that whole disaster thing. But they weren't trying to prevent the disaster, they weren't trying to save any Pokémon that wasn't one of them. That seemed to make the bird sad, his large eyes looking a bit wet as he kept looking up, disappointed and and worried.

Sova wasn't having any of it, and explained how things truly were! That they were the good guys. Or, he tried. The Absol cut him short and said some rather mean things that weren't true at all! The Swablu let his gaze follow the conversation for a while, eyes flicking from one Pokémon to another. At last, he shook his head.
"Oh, but Sova isn't like that!" He chirped his objections as he looked up at the Absol with pleading eyes.

"He's very nice and he protects good Pokémon! He's done it before and he is here to protect someone!" Varda retorted his view of the Pokémon these other ones were trying to drive away for his behavior that was clearly a lie. Or at least a simplification based on ignorance. They didn't really know Sova!
"And... We have to protect him, our client's friend. You know it's going to happen but you're not going to help him survive... But we will! No one will have to suffer!"

Sova glanced at the swablu, feeling guilty he'd convinced him to believe he was different, that the absol's words weren't true. In reality, they were. He seemed to cause trouble everywhere he went. There was no reason to believe he wouldn't do this here. Varda had seen his aggression, though, so how could the bird still defend him so naively?

The absol kept her stare on Varda, not caring to look up at the glaceon at the moment. "I never said we weren't going to prevent the disaster. As of right now, I'm trying to prevent it from becoming worse.", she retorted.

"Alright then, do you know if you succeed?", Sova questioned.

The absol shook her head. "We can see the disaster, not the outcome.", she replied.

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptyFri Apr 03, 2015 7:42 pm

Varda let out a quiet coo as the Absol didn't seem very convinced, still not letting the two of them pass. He had still said the truth! Sova was very nice and kind, he would be very helpful rather than a hindrance. It was starting to feel like there was no way forward if this continued, like the Absol wouldn't budge no matter what they said or done. But time was running out, they had a Pokémon to save... They couldn't be stopped like this!

Some kind of crack had to be found with the words of the Absol, something that would make Sova seem like a useful ally so he wouldn't be turned away. But the Swablu didn't have any ideas, exactly.
"Oh, um. You know what the disaster is? We don't, we just heard some bits of some vague vision," Varda chirped as his friend and the Absol exchanged some words, seeing that they had a chance to learn a bit more.

The absol nodded to Varda's question, seeming as if she was willing to explain. "We know outsiders are involved. You two.... as well as a monferno. There's going to-", she began, but was cut off as a lightningbolt seemed to drop from the sky, despite there not being any signs of a storm prior. Actually, it seemed to come from not the sky, but a ledge fairly high up in the crevice. The bolt hit farther into the crevice, where the absol was blocking the two explorers off from.

"That's not good....", Sova stated, even though it was likely obvious to everyone there. The absol bolted off towards where the thunderbolt had hit almost instantly and the other two absols followed it without a single exchange of words. It was amazing how well they maneuvered through the terrain, but of course they did.... they obviously lived here.

Sova bolted off after the leading absol, doing his best to follow her. "Come on!", he shouted to Varda.
He did his best to keep up, but the absol was much better at traversing the Obsidian Crevice than he was. He was slowly falling behind and he wondered if perhaps Varda could keep up better, given the swablu could fly. "Follow them, go!", he requested, seeing that he was probably going to fall behind a bit.

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 04, 2015 12:43 am

Varda seemed to perk up as the Absol started the explanation he had asked for, gladly taking what he could get from this situation. The Monferno the Pokémon mentioned... It had to be the one they were looking for! He didn't even dare to breathe as he listened... But the actual explanation was cut short as suddenly, the crack of thunder rang in his ears and the world seemed to flash for a moment. It was lightning and it seemed to have struck something! The bird let out a little surprised chirp, but it took him a moment to realize... Oh no. There was lightning in the vision, but the sky was still free of storm clouds! Were they already too late?

Without a word, the group of Absol bolted in the direction of the lightning bolt, quickly snaking their way through the dangerous narrow ledges like they had done it thousands of times before. The Swablu reached out at them with a wing almost as if to ask them to stop or continue the story that they couldn't hear, but...  He did realize that the best way to save their client's friend would be to quickly run to the scene where the lightning struck! This time, they wouldn't be stopped by anyone!

Sova quickly rushed past him and the bird Pokémon forced himself in the air and bolted after him, chasing the Absol. The three Pokémon were awfully fast and they were starting to lag behind, mostly due to how fast the Absol were able to traverse the difficult terrain. They wouldn't make it like this... But being able to fly, Varda didn't have to worry about the land. Sova yelled at him to follow the Absol, but he hesitated for a moment. After all, he didn't want to leave his friend behind, but it did seem like he might have the better chance of keeping up in this situation! With a small nod, the Swablu picked up his speed and did his best to follow the trio running away from them. Occasionally he would pluck some light blue feathers and let them gently float down as a marker in case Sova lost sight of them...

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 04, 2015 4:16 am

Sova was relieved to see the swablu decide to go on ahead, keeping up with the group.  He did his best to keep up, however, he was left behind and forced to find his own way.  Luckily, Varda had left a trail for him to follow, which helped greatly.  He worried if this was slowing the bird down, though.

The leading absol seemed to be the fastest of the three, making her way to the scene of the lightning strike a good ten seconds before the other two.  Actually, the scene kind of made its way to her as another absol leaped up a ledge just as she tried to jump down, colliding into her and causing them both to fall down the ledge.  Of course, it wasn't a long fall, but it certainly didn't feel good.  "What are....", she began as she got off her comrade and they both got up, before pushing the other absol out of the way of another of the Thunderbolts just as it crashed down near them.

There were a few meowstics on high perches, two males and a female, the latter of which was the one firing the electric attacks.  One of the male meowstics then began creating a light blue mist around it, spreading and seeping downwards into the floor of the crevice.  The other male seemed to do the same on cue, speeding up the spread of the Misty Terrain.

"Arka, what're you doing here?  I thought you were going to stop-", the other absol began to question, but was cut off by the leader, revealed to be named Arka.  "They wouldn't leave and I saw lightning.", she explained as the two male meowstic began their descent down to the level of the two absol, just in time for the other two disaster pokemon to catch up.  They faced off for a moment before one of the meowstics made the first move, clapping its hands together and sending a powerful shockwave at Arka at lightning-speed, knocking her back.  At that moment, all three of the other absol bolted towards the two meowstic and a fight broke out, with the canine pokemon winning.... until the female meowstic, still on her perch, began firing off a mixture of powerful ranged attacks.  It seemed for a moment that the small pack would be overwhelmed, until Arka jumped back in, slashing one of the male felines with her glowing Megahorn, knocking it down on its side.

Little did they know, there were quite a few more enemies than just these meowstic.  They hadn't showed their selves yet, but they were coming, planning to cut the group off from the opposite direction.  Most weren't exactly overly threatening, however, one.... would be the worst nightmare of most living anywhere near the Obsidian Crevice.  Sova, still not to the area yet, turned as he heard the flapping of wings to see a massive and very menacing dragon, a hydreigon.  He prepared to fight, but to his surprise, it flew right past him.  It seemed it wasn't interested in him.  "Okay then.... what was that abou- VARDA!"  He bolted off at full speed after the dragon, getting reckless and careless in his movements as he pushed himself to go faster, realizing there was a hydreigon heading towards the area his friend was in.

Dangerous/Leading Enemies: Male Meowstic x2(Misty Terrain, Fake Out, Suckerpunch, Zen Headbutt), Female Meowstic(Psyshock, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Signal Beam), Hydreigon(Draco Meteor, Fire Blast, Dark Pulse, Surf)

PostSubject: Re: Last Lifeline   Last Lifeline - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 04, 2015 3:09 pm

Varda flew after the running Pokémon as fast as he could – or well, maybe not as fast as he could seeing that he was plucking some feathers for Sova to follow, a distraction that made him lose some focus. Doing more than one thing at the same time? Quite impossible for the little bird. Still, while he was lagging behind slightly, he managed to keep up somewhat, at least able to see where the Absol were headed and keep following. Luckily for him, it seemed like the two other Absol were lagging behind the one leading them too, so it made it slightly easier for him... But such joy was short lived as the stragglers got to the scene, finding two Absol on the ground with a trio of cat-like Pokémon on a ledge above. There was another flash of lightning that luckily his nobody, but the bird did see the source: the white cat. Was this the source of thunder in their client's vision...?

They had to get closer to help. A strange mist was being created by the darker Pokémon, gently rolling down the rocky walls and right where the group of Absol was gathering. The bird held his breath for a moment, afraid that it would be something dangerous to one's health, but... It didn't seem to be doing anything when he was finally forced to breathe again. His wings kept pushing it away from him due to the wind they caused, but it always rolled back in when he moved away. He figured that on his own, he definitely couldn't push this strange mist away...

A loud crack was heard as a wave of air pushed over the leader of the Absol, knocking her off her paws. It was what started the fight between the packs, something the Swablu did not know if he could even join. He wasn't much of a fighter and the Absol seemed to be doing fine... That was when Varda started to wonder if the Monferno was here, if this was the disaster in the vision? It did start to seem like it could be possible. Worried, the little bird dashed off to the side to see if the Pokémon they were looking for was nearby, frantically searching for a sign of any kind...!

A strange furry Pokémon that might have been a cat of some kind with rather strange ears flew from behind a corner and hit a wall with its back, falling down on the ground. Its fur seemed to be singed in places, as if it had been burned... Varda didn't waste any time once he managed to get over his initial surprise, quickly flying in the direction where the Pokémon had come from. Indeed, he saw a monkey of flames beating another similar cat-like Pokémon into submission with its blazing kicks.
"Oh, sir!" The flying bird chirped to the other Pokémon,
"If you happen to know a Gothitelle in Grassveil Town, I think you're in grave danger...!"

A deafening roar from behind was heard, one that caused the Swablu's feathers to stand on their ends as a shudder forced its way through his body. It... Was coming from the direction of the battle the Absol were having with the cats! Some scorpion-like creatures emerged from little holes and while the Monferno seemed to prepare to attack them as they attacked him... They just ended up ignoring the bird and the monkey as they scuttled over to the source of the roar. Varda and the Monferno exchanged some looks before they both rushed over to the previous battle scene.

((Well, you lose the same amount of energy no matter what, so you're not actually saving anything unless you're ignoring certain rolls that would make your energy run out, which just seems like gaming the system and doesn't sound kosher. It's also pretty difficult to decide when to work things in when you roll them all the the start of a page, if you roll them separately then it's easier to decide that I'll have that Pokémon I rolled last post show up in my next post or something! It's also a bit more fun to be surprised rather than to know what will be happening during this page!))

Current Energy: 16 (19 -3 from the item rolls)

Sova did his best to keep up with the hydreigon, but he actually started feeling tired as he pushed himself to move faster.  He didn't often get fatigued from just running.  Still, he pushed through it and kept up with the dragon.  That is, until he slipped and fell into a rock on his side.  Luckily his icy armor had absorbed most of the impact, but by the time he'd gotten back up, the beast was out of his view.  He immediately continued running, doing his best to catch back up as he feared what this thing could do.

In the canine versus feline battle, the absol were winning heavily since their leader had come in.  One of the troops stopped attacking, guarded by the others as its horn began to glow before it whipped its head to the side and sent glowing slashes through the air into the female meowstic, knocking it off its perch.  Actually, the entire perch was pretty much destroyed.  The cat didn't even get a chance to hit the ground before an Ice Beam from another of the absol, followed by some of the rubble created from its destroyed perch seemingly being guided towards it in a Rockslide created by Arka.  The rocks slammed down all around it, some scraping by it and a few hitting it directly, knocking up a cloud of dust in the process.

It seemed like everything was going well.... then there was a roar.  Mere moments later, the terror known as Hydreigon was upon the battlefield, immediately firing a large blast of fire followed by five streams of flames at one of the absol, knocking it out instantly and leaving burning spots on the ground around it.  As it prepared another of the blasts, its mouth beginning to blaze, before it felt something pelt its back, stopping and growling loudly.

Sova managed to catch up just in time to see a blast of fire knock one of the absol unconscious.  As the hydreigon prepared another of the Fire Blasts, he fired a Shadow Ball at its back.  The dark orb exploded on impact, but.... the dragon simply began to growl as it slowly turned around in the air, as if it had only been agitated, not hurt in the slightest.  It then seemed to decide he was its next target, firing its next fiery burst at him.  He bolted out of the way as quickly as he could, feeling the heat of the attack as it lit the ground near him on fire.

Another of the absols attempted to attack the behemoth dragon, leaping at it with a rusty red aura around it as it used Super Power.  One of the hydreigon's mouth-hands lit up with fire before it slammed the.... appendage down on the absol's back, causing it to crash into the ground in a ball of flames.  It then looked towards the swablu and monferno coming back to the fight before summoning a massive wave, as if it'd ripped the water out of the ground.  With another roar, it sent the wave crashing forward through the  floor of the crevice.  Sova, for one, wasn't hit as the direction he'd entered the battle from put him behind the hydreigon, on the opposite side as everyone else.  Arka also managed to avoid the attack by quickly scaling the steep slopes, ledges and rocks of the crevice.  The other absol and even the group of meowstic were not so lucky, but most of them were knocked out by this point anyways.

Sova spotted the monferno and immediately considered that a Surf from a pokemon this powerful could instantly kill the weak fire monkey.  He had been at a safe distance from the attack, but sadly, it seemed he had to change that.  He bolted forward at a difficult to track speed with Ice Shard as he raced along the dangerous terrain, above the wave before leaping down and ramming into the monferno, knocking it off its feet onto his back.

The glaceon then bolted in the opposite direction of the wave, hoping to outrun it.  Sadly, he saw that wasn't possible, so he dropped the target behind him, positioning himself between the Fire-Type and the wave as his body temperature dropped and wind stirred around him.  Icy crystals began to form and swirl around him in a Blizzard just as the wave got to him, managing to stop the attack from reaching him long enough for it to freeze around him, the rest of the wave simply passing them by.  When it was over, there was a half-circle shell of ice in front of him, like a shield of sorts.  A Fire Blast from the hydreigon quickly fixed that, shattering the ice and knocking him off his paws, onto the monferno.

(I know it's allowed because literally everyone does it, including the admins.  It's not against the rules to roll 10 times if you have 10 energy left, for instance.  If you roll 5 times, you likely won't have enough energy left to roll 5 more, though(because you roll things like -7 energy klefki), so you end up with way less rolls.  If you do this, you basically just ignore all of the extra energy and keep it at 0 instead of going to like -20.  As for the surprise thing, we had to wait to bring everything in, so we knew well in advance what was showing up.

Also Klefki tho.)

Varda and the Monferno showed up to the scene just in time to see that a strange, dark dragon-like Pokémon had appeared and joined the battle, surely the source of the roar they had heard earlier. The way the Pokémon looked was just as blood-curdling as its roar had been, and the bird immediately felt worried. The Absol had seemingly won their earlier battle against the cats... But as the dragon breathed a large blast of fire on one of them, the poor thing was automatically knocked out! This was one Pokémon that was extremely strong and the likes of him shouldn't even get close! The Monferno had certainly looked capable earlier on, but even he seemed a bit worried as he saw the large Pokémon... And well, he was the one in danger here, so Varda at least thought the monkey was the last person who should be getting near that thing!

The dragon's mouth opened and flames were already visible in its mouth, but it suddenly stopped and closed its mouth, turning around. The bird's eyes looked down, only to see Sova on the other side! And now, his friend had managed to attract the attention of the beast!
"Sova!" The Swablu chirped in panic as he already prepared to rush to help Sova, even if he really couldn't help against a Pokémon that strong. But he stopped to quickly look at the Monferno by his side.
"Um... Sova is my friend! We both came from the Guild because our client was worried about your safety, she saw a really bad vision so you probably should be really, really careful!" Varda continued, figuring that the Monferno needed and explanation sooner rather than later. Their best plan right now? That probably would have been to get to Sova and escape with the three of them. But... The Absol had talked about a disaster. Was this the disaster? Was it right to leave when things were being bad?

With that, the Swablu started to fly towards the dragon through the mist that was starting to disperse, noticing how futile the attacks of the Absol were against it... But then the dragon turned around to face the bird and the monkey. It... Stared at them, causing the bird to stop. Even the Monferno that had been following was forced to stop in its tracks. And then the dragon Pokémon summoned a wave. A large wave that easily could have drowned many, but in the monkey's case... Water had a bad effect on fire! Varda and the monkey tried to escape, but they couldn't outrun the wave, the bird even tried to grab the Monferno to lift him away from danger but it was no luck. The scorpion-like Pokémon that had appeared on the scene started to scale the walls to get out of the way of the attack.

"S-Sova!" The bird chirped loudly when he noticed the Ice-type fox running in their direction, managing to let go of the Monferno and fly a bit higher just in time to avoid getting tackled by Sova as well. The monkey was forced off-balance and landed on the other Pokémon's back with an oomph as he barely had enough time to grab a hold of Sova as the Pokémon dashed off, trying to outrun the wave.
"What should we do, Sova! It's dangerous here and everyone is fighting and there's just so many Pokémon!" Varda begged for some kind of direction, not knowing what their plan was in such a situation. They no longer could just walk away, could they? The wave came closer...

"O-Oh no," a soft squeak escaped the Swablu's beak as it seemed like all was lost. They couldn't get up, the walls were too steep and they weren't fast enough to outrun the wave that was sweeping through the landscape! But... He could fly. He could get out of the way easily, but Sova and the Monferno... He couldn't take the two with him. But the fox-like Pokémon ended up stopping and removing the monkey from his back, at first making Varda believe like he gave up. But that wasn't like Sova at all! Deciding that he would just have to trust his friend, the bird flapped his wings to get out of the way of the wave before it crashed down and washed over the two grounded Pokémon.

With so much water, it took it a while to wash away completely. Constantly the bird Pokémon's eyes were scanning the surface as he tried to catch a glimpse of his friend, hoping that they had survived. He was getting quite worried as time went on, every second feeling like an hour – but then he saw it. Some ice peeked from under the water, like a shield ice that had appeared where Sova and the Monferno had last stood! Varda was ecstatic – but the dragon behind him didn't let such a feeling last for very long when it attacked his friend with more flame, causing Sova to land on the poor monkey... Who at this point had been quite out of breath and just managed to get the rest of the air in his lungs squeezed away, causing him to cough as he wiggled free from under the fox.

The Skorupi scaled the walls down again now that the land was dry, seeing their easy prey. The Swablu's gaze glanced from side to side, from the dragon to his friends... And the Absol that was still around the area, the leader that had managed to avoid the wave. They couldn't afford to let the Pokémon do that attack again!
"Um, Sova! We should... Find you a way to get up! Staying down there isn't very safe unless the um, the dragon is distracted!"

((Eh, seems like a way to abuse the system really, not at all what it was built to do or how it was explained. Kind of downplays the entire energy system really when the numbers don't matter. But hey, I don't think it's kosher so I just won't eat the bacon even if it's good, but if someone wants to eat it then it's not my problem. It's fun to see what kind of rolls you can get little by little rather than open all the presents at once, you know! This thread has been a bit of an exception and I have rolled a lot just because I knew we needed tons of enemies, hah. During normal threads, rolling lots of Pokémon tends to take a lot of time in the actual thread!

And the Klefki will destroy all.))
