The Thief And The Not So Thief

Capone, while on a bit of a break from his thievery, decided to take a walk through the nearby woods, Pecha Forest.  He was plotting on finding some sort of outpost, even though he knew that Pecha Forest wouldn't work out.  So many Pokemon travel through these bundles of trees, that they would be sure to find it.  Still, he searched in the bushes and the trees, going slowly, taking breaks about every ten minutes.  Pretty soon, he found a tree, and decided that he should sleep and get some energy back.  In the shade, he drifted off into a sleep filled with dreams of him having power and wealth.

Ramira grinned. Coming back to Pecha was a good idea to her, and she needed berries for herself in case something happened. So, here she was, wandering around through Pecha, looking for berries like last time, when she had met Lapis. Sniffing the ground once, she tried picking up a scent, only to find nothing at the moment. Walking on, she kept sniffing occasionally.

About five minutes later, the Slakoth was awoken by a noise. Him, always being suspicious of everything, climbed the tree and watched. He soon saw a shiny Zorua walking down the path he was walking down. He knew that shiny Pokemon normally weren't the normal hostile Pokemon that were found in dungeons. This Pokemon must have been from somewhere else, so he decided to climb down from his branch, and introduce himself as a friendly entity.

"Hey there," He introduced in a deep voice. He put on a smile, but in the back of his mind, he was thinking of seeing if she had any valuables on her. She did actually look like a thief, but never judge a book by its cover.

Ramira was surprised to see a Slakoth come down from a tree. "Uhm.... Hello." She said, managing a bit of a smug smile. It was strange to have a Pokemon come down out of nowhere and then introduce themselves. Luckily, Ramira's scarf gem was hidden under her cloak's rock that held it together. If he was a thief trying to trick her, she had some tricks of her own.

Capone, noticing the caution in her voice, started to think of something to say to ease the tension. The thief's wits were working overtime, but he soon knew what to say. "Don't worry, I'm just a friendly Pokemon. If you've ever seen a Slakoth in Grassveil playing a banjo for some money, that would be me." He said, grabbing the instrument from his back and plucking a few strings. "Sorry if I made you think of me as a threat with me coming out of nowhere. I was just taking a nap on that branch up there" He pointed above him into the green leaves at the tree's limb.

Ramira relaxed. "Oh... phew. You can never tell these days.." She said. At least he didn't seem like a bad Pokemon. The Zorua's caution left her voice, but she was still a tiny bit suspicious. Looking back, she remembered a Slakoth playing the banjo on the street. Reflecting on the memory, she also remembered she gave him 1 Poke. 'You can never tell... still stay alert no matter what.' She thought.

Capone smiled, knowing he gained the shiny Pokemon's trust.  "Yeah, you can never tell.  That's why I have to be careful not to fall asleep after I finish playing in the streets."  Th Slakoth continued the fake story, making it more believable.  "I was just going to go through here to see if I could find any items I could sell for extra Poke."

In the back of his mind, Capone kept on wondering if the Zorua had anything of value, but knew to keep the urge to ask down.  He had to gain her trust, first, something he knew very well how to do.  "You could join me, if you want."  He said with another smile,  "But just to warn you, I do need to take breaks quite regularly, if that's a problem."

"Oh, that's not a problem," Ramira smiled, knowing her trick had worked. He thought she had full trust in him. She was being nice anyway, just because that was how she was. Knowing how slow Slakoths could be, the Zorua knew to keep a slow pace as well, thanks to a Goomy she met near this very dungeon. Ramira knew how clever her trickery was, because it almost always worked. Inside her mind, she grinned. This trick was an old one of hers.

"Oh, what joy!" The Slakoth had a great smile on his face, which hid his true intentions. "I'm so glad to hear that it won't be a problem!" The leaves from the trees started rustling from a small breeze, which blew some off the branches. Those leaves fluttered down, landing all around the duo.

"Well, should we get going? I can't wait, I'm so excited!" Capone beamed widely, "Oh, I don't think I told you my name. It's Capone."

"Ah, right. I'm Ramira." The Zorua said calmly. Indeed, her trick was foolproof. "Well, we should get going.." She said, starting to walk forward, but at a slow pace. This shouldn't be too hard if Capone cooperated. Smiling to herself, she looked up through the canopy once. It looked like it was still light out, which was a good sign.

"Yes, let's walk on, to adventure!" Capone threw his paw up into the air, looking excited. Truthfully, he was excited, but not for meeting someone new. Rather, he was excited for opportunity. The Zorua was bound to have something valuable on her. If she didn't, this was somewhat a waste of time. He could still find some sort of usefulness within her. He knew he couldn't be suspicious, so he had to be patient.

As they moved onward, Capone continued to glance around for a potential base, passing it off as searching for items. "Sorry if I seem a tad bit odd. I become a little nervous when in a dungeon. All of the feral Pokemon that have chosen to nest in them all."

"Ferals aren't that bad." Ramira scoffed jokingly. "I can take out the ones in this forest any day." She smirked. The Zorua's humor was almost what she was known for. By now she had let a bit loose. Remembering her gem, Ramira also remembered it wasn't too valuable, as one could get such a gem from a Pretty Box or something (more knowledge from Serena... yay.). Thinking this was great, because she knew Capone probably wouldn't search her for items anyway.

"Oh, what joy!" Capone said loudly, "If you, uh, wanted to, could you, um, protect me while we're in here? I would make it up to you, of course." The Slakoth exclaimed with a smile on his slack face. He looked around nervously again, although the entire time, he was pretending. Who would suspect a defenseless Slakoth who plays a banjo for a living to be a thief? Certainly not the police, and it certainly seemed that this Zorua was fooled.

Ramira nodded. "Yeah, I'm ok with that. Not like I'd have anything else to do but scout for berries or something anyway." She said. Scouting for berries was really the Zorua's main goal at the moment. The dark type felt she would need them in case of an emergency or Dandy's dyes came to mind or something. Continuing to walk on, Ramira sniffed the ground, trying to pick up some sort of scent.
