The darkest times

The thick foilage overhead was blocking the evening sun's fading rays, enshrouding the Shadowhue Forest in an almost palpable darkness. Only very little light actually managed to reach the ground and to sparsely illuminate the surroundings. Between this darkness and the twigs and dried leaves that lay underground one could easily trip over a hidden root or alert a sleeping Pokémon.
Most Pokémon would avoid this place at this time of day as much as possible, much less go there voluntarily because of all these dangers and discomforts.
However Chie was different. She actually enjoyed wandering between the cold tree trunks, not having to worry about making a sound or walking into a tree by accident due to her levitative, visual and generally ghastly powers. And since few other Pokémon were capable of things like these the Shadowhue Forest was pleasantly empty and silent. Noone was around to attack her or to - and this was something Chie believed to be even worse - to try and befriend her. Not because she was mean or didn't want to have friends but rather because it could never end well. With her lifespan she would almost inevitably outlive whoever attempted to be her friend and then she would be alone again. Alone and hurt. And thus the Ghost type preferred to rather just be alone.
Alone where noone could hurt her...

Noel nods and smiles once again "great it's always nice to be around someone in a dungeon" she says as she looks around the area for any real points of interest or any items around the area as she had decided after a small bit to continue the conversation "so what do you do for fun?" She asks knowing that explorers must have something to do outside of a dungeon and she figured that was a good conversation starter

"Uh...I like reading. And writing. That about sums it up.", Chie admitted truthfully.
There really weren't many activities she enjoyed doing, especially considering that there were quite a lot of things that required being with other Pokémon - something the Duskull would rather avoid whenever possible out of fear of being hurt...again.
Exploring was something she did quite often as well, but even though it was not too bad an activity, she really only did it to earn money so she wasn't sure whether it would qualify as an answer for the Riolu's question. Most likely not.
And now the Ghost type found herself wondering what the Riolu did to stay entertained. Fighting most likely. Many Pokémon - the aptly named Fighting types especially seemed to be quite focussed on combat - something Chie had never been able to comprehend. How could deliberately causing pain to others while under the danger of sufffering oneself be fun?

"Ya I also enjoy reading sometimes" Noel says with a small smile she liked to read though exploring herself seemed to be more fun to the girl hearing about how others did explore areas did seem like a lot of fun to her as she walked along the path scarf blowing in the slight wind she looked over to see a Flabebe over in the corner she decided not to try anything unless it was a immediate threat

Now this was surprising Chie had not expected to find another Pokémon who enjoyed reading out here in the Forest, much less a Fighting type. But this just proved once again that you learn something new every day. But...what was that?
Somewhere in the distance a strange Pokémon was floating through the forest. It didn't seem to be a threat right now, but one could never know, so the Ghost type decided to keep watch, hoping that they would remain spared from any confrontation.

Noel looked around and her eyes caught a bug type flying in the air she knew what this Pokemon was and she didn't know if either of them had any attacks that could damage the bug in front of them as she turned her head and looked at chie "let's go this way" she said as she changed directions not wanting to fight something she couldn't hit let alone touch

Chie did not know what the Riolu had seen or why it suddenly wanted to walk in a specific direction, but she didn't really mind. After all she had not had a goal in mind when she had entered this forest either.
However, had she actually seen the Shedinja she could have calmed down the Riolu. Due to being a Ghost type herself she should easily be capable of taking care of this Pokémon.
Shedinja were strange Pokémon. They were functionally invulnerable to most attacks, but to a select few they fell in a single hit.
Chie was both envious and feeling a bit of pity for this Pokémon, being essentially invulnerable in most battles but having to flee from the weakest opponent if they had the luck of possessing a single working attack.
And so she began to wonder - would it be possible to use this strange ability to make oneself completely invulnerable somehow?

Noel was walking along the path not really talking much she didn't really have much to say so she sat in slight awkward silence till she came across another piece of random fest candy as she bent down and picked it up she was knocked backwards by a attack as she said along the ground when she got up she saw her attacker what a Heracross she swore quietly as she got up.

Suddenly the Riolu was knocked by some Pokémon Chie had seen somewhere before. It was in some kind of book she believed. Okay, it had to be a book since Chie didn't really go outside much, much less talking with others. This seemed to be a Heracross, even though Chie didn't know why it wanted to fight. Munching on three Oran Berries she had been carrying with her, the Duskull hoped they would give her enough energy to stand strong against their adversaries. This was when she realized that she hadn't seen the Riolu do battle before. Hopefully it was a strong fighter.

Noel got up and dusted herself off as she looked at her opponents she showed no fear as she got into a fighting stance and using quick attack to dash her opponents she hit the first one who had been the one to knock her flat and using a force Palm sent him into a tree nearby as she then kicked up and managed to hit a Forretress above her and made him hit his head on a tree branch that caused him to stumble slightly as she kicked it away knowing they were good for defense her attacks didn't knock them flat but she was able to do some good damage on the two she had attack

Chie was just about to launch a Night Shade at the Heracross in front of her as her single eye caught sight of something much more menacing. About half of Shadowhue Forest appeared to be heading towards the duo's position and they were not looking friendly.
"Uh...I think we have more pressing matters to attend to right now than to fight these few Pokémon. If you would take a look around I believe you will find for our best course of action to be to run.", Chie explained with barely contained panic. She had never seen this many hostile Pokémon before and this time neither William nor Sorren were around to take care of them for her. This was too much for them.

Noel looked at the Pokemon that had come to them as she heard what Chie had to say looking down then up with a smirk "I don't run from fights" Noel says as she keeps fighting dodging most of the attacks that came her way as the heracross she was fighting got another to join him as Noel ran at them and dodged the strikes they threw at her after sometime she used a force Palm to send one into a tree knocking it and the tree down as the tree fell on a Venomoth Noel looked back and managed to throw her arms up before she got hit by the other heracross as she broke her guard she went back to fighting

Chie's single eye widened in shock as she heard the Riolu's statement. The Fighting type was really going to try and fight all these foes? There was honour and then there was just straight-up idiocy.
"Are you sure about this? You're going to get yourself hurt!", she tried to convince the Riolu. However she already knew that it wouldn't work. Pokémon like these tended to be exceptionally stubborn. And so she used her ghastly powrrs to place an icy hand on one of the Heracross' shoulder, using the move Disable to prevent it from acting momentarily. It would be more effective than her weak attacks for sure.

Noel was moving along ducking and weaving between all the attacks that came her way as she noticed another or the same Pokemon as before swearing she noticed a small seed identifying what it is grabbed it and threw it at the Pokemon causing a explosion knocking it out as Noel switched her attention to the heracross she used force Palm to knock it into one of the ariadoses as she jumped up and slammed her foot into another one she was using basic attacks but the areas she hit would hurt badly as she turned her attention to the forretress and fought them as she moving along the large Pokemon striking it where it could not see then kicking it into the other one sending them both flying

Apparently the Riolu was not too incompetent when it came to battling. That was a relief, even though Chie still didn't believe for them to have any reasonable chance.
Nevertheless she could not just leave the Fighting type alone here. She had to at least try and salvage the situation.
Focussing her ghastly powers, a single black beam was launched from the Duskull's crimson eye, blasting the Pokémon it hit. It did some damage, but still the relentless onslaught of foes continued. How were they supposed to get out of this if the Riolu refused to leave?

Noel was starting to get a little tired but she kept going as the two spiders jumped at her using her small stature she was able to duck under one and kick him in the stomach hard which caused him to faint as the other charges Noel she kicked it in the head knocking it to the ground where it stayed now that they were done all that left the girl was the two flying armored bugs "I wish I had lumina now" she said to herself she could burn the two faster then Noel could beat them but Noel shook her head as she dashed at the two with a few dodging of beam attacks coming from the bugs she then grabbed one from the top and spun around once as them momentum was enough she slammed it into the other bug that knocked them both out as the smaller Pokemon fled because of the riolus strength as Noel felt winded as she stumbled slightly "see" she said once the area looked clear.
