The Pecha Forest, peaceful, beautiful, not far from Grassveil Town....what a boring place for a first mission.  Sova was hoping for something more exciting, but there wasn't much available to new teams, so he decided to just deal with an easy mission.  Or at least, he figured it'd be easy.  He had gotten so sidetracked thinking about higher ranked missions, he completely forgot about his teammate.

"Pretty eventful first mission so far, huh, Leif?"  He asked jokingly.  They had just entered the Pecha Forest a few minutes ago but he already felt like it was going to be boring.  But, maybe he'd be pleasantly surprised.  Or maybe he'd get more than he bargained for.  Only time would tell.

"Murkrow!" Leif shouted, half completing the I Spy and half announcing that he saw it. As it staggered backwards he took the opportunity to try and teleport to it and use an ice punch, but just as he did so his attention was diverted by a Pineco that was approaching, and because he was now focusing on it he teleported in front of it, sending the top-like bug pokemon spinning away.

He turned his attention back to the Murkrow, which was now recovering and flying towards Sova. It wasn't much, but his only long range attack was Shadow Ball. Because it was not very effective, the move only did minor damage, but knocked it far enough off course that it crashed into a tree and fell. This opened the window for Sova to fight the bird.

While Leif was distracted, he felt a sharp pain in his back. Bug bite! This move was supereffective on him, he had to get away from that Pineco ASAP. He Spin with an iron tail, again sending it spinning away. Only this time he shot a shadow ball at its feet to break apart and soften the dirt. It had no means of spinning in the soft, mulchy soil. This was the perfect opportunity. He charged up his ice punch, and froze it into the soil. It wasn't knocked out, but it wouldn't be a problem any time soon.

"Right!  Your turn!"  Sova said, still wanting to play I Spy even though they were in the middle of a battle.  Thanks to his teammate's assistance, he had a moment to think of a strategy.  He didn't want to attack the Murkrow head on, its beak looked sharp, so he thought of another way of handling the situation.

He backed slowly into a tree as the Murkrow got up and began flying towards him again.  Just what he was hoping for.  He seemed to like high risk high reward strategies, as he did them quite often.  He waited for the Murkrow to get closer to him.  Closer....closer....detecting its attack, he quickly moved to the side right as it was only a few feet in front of him, causing it to crash into the tree behind him.  He then finished it off by tackling it against the tree, knocking it out.

After taking a moment to catch his breath, he ran over to his partner.  "Are you alright?  And did you pick something for I Spy yet?"

"I'm fine... It got me in the back, but I'll be okay. By the way, excellent job out there. You're a great strategist, I can only imagine what you'll be able to do as your move pool evolves and changes." Leif smiled supportively, reflecting on his decision to team with Sova. He had liked the idea to begin with, and he was sure of it, but if anything he was only more sure now. He had made the right choice. This pokemon had class.

"Oh and... I spy with my little eye something frozen." in the light gleaming from the treetops, the only icy thing that had been glittering in the sun was the frozen Pineco, and the frozen dirt around it. It wasn't very subtle, but Leif thought it was a nice easy one after a battle, and brought attention to his handiwork immobilizing the bug.

Sova was flattered by the comment. Him, a strategist? He'd never thought of himself like that. "You're too kind, Leif. You didn't even have to knock your enemy out to beat them, and I'm the strategist?" He then began looking around for the object Leif had spied. There was only one thing frozen in this area that he could think of, but he just wanted to check first to be sure. "Well, unless it's snowing and I don't realize it, I think I'm gonna go with the Pineco you stuck to the ground." He said jokingly with a giggle.

Leif blushed a bit, "Oh, well I mean... Aw shucks, thanks. But don't sell yourself short, you did great too." Leif looked to the frozen pokemon, "Uh... no I mean... the frozen dirt... around the pokemon... Nah just kidding, haha, you got it right. Your turn then." He looked up at the sky, and thought that it would actually be really pretty if it were snowing. The frozen flakes lit by the sun, the ground white and sparkling with every which color, leaves plastered like white marble, drooping from the weight. Snow could be such a pretty sight.

"Hey, Leif. You know a few different types of moves, right? Does it feel any different to use different types of moves....for instance, an ice type move or a ghost type move?" Sova didn't exactly have a wide variety of move types in his arsenal, so he was curious about them. Maybe it'd help him choose what evolutionary path to take.

He looked around for sometime to spy. The stump and tree with a hole in it from earlier, the unconscious Murkrow and the Pineco frozen to the ground, bushes, flowers, trees....then he noticed a log in the distance on the path they were on. It looked quite large, they would probably need to climb over it or break it....or go through some thick brush to get around it. "I spy something brown and challenging...."

"Uh... yeah, it sorta does. It's hard to explain. The biggest difference I feel is when I use a psychic type move. It's easier, comes more natural, it feels stronger to me. I think that's because I'm psychic type. Then other types feel different too. Obviously I get colder when I use an ice type move. And using a ghost type move is almost like... It feels like you're literally attacking with nothing. I guess that explains why it doesn't hit normal types. And Iron Tail I can feel my tail actually becoming harder, heavier. Those are all the moves I've ever used. But Im sure other types feel different too. I know if I got to pick what type I could be, it wouldn't be something I took lightly."

He finished his mini lecture, going back to I Spy, "Brown and challenging? Well, I would say you when you're fighting, but you aren't fighting and you've already been called. On the other hand, dirt isn't too menacing either. I don't see any other pokemon. I guess it could be that tree in the path."

Sova listened to the surprisingly long explanation, hoping maybe it would help him decide what he wanted to evolve into. He hadn't gotten a chance to use anything but a Ground Type move, a Fighting Type move, and of course, some Normal Type moves. He did feel more at ease with normal type moves, but he couldn't evolve and stay a normal type. He most certainly didn't want to stay an Eevee for ever.

"Yep, it's the log! I think the easiest way past it would be to climb over it....so what do you say we break through it?" The idea may have seemed silly, climbing over it would probably be much faster and use up much less energy, but he figured trying to break through it would be more fun.

"Break through it? Let's do it!" He grinned. Both of his fists began radiating a frozen energy. Steam came from his hands as the moisture froze into ice. One fist, then the next. Rapidly he beat the log with the ice punches. The cold would make the wood brittle, then it shattered off. With one final punch with both fists, the log cracked into two parts. The remaining problem would be moving what was left. He stood back, letting the energy for a shadow ball build up. It flickered larger and smaller as the energy was pushed into separating the parts. It was more energy than it was worth or... was it? Something appeared on the other side of the log. Multiple somethings.

Sova was thrilled his partner felt the same way about the log.  "Alright, lets-" His attention was taken away from the log by something he saw out of the corner of his eye.  A Zigzagoon charging at his teammate.  He quickly rushed between the two, Detecting the enemy's attack and biting into its scruff, spinning and throwing it away from his teammate.

His attention then turned to the sounds of the log breaking, to see even more hostile Pokemon.  "Oh, good...."  He said sarcastically.  He knew they both needed to focus now.

Pokemon. Pokemon everywhere. This was gonna get messy. "I'll take Zigzagoon, Sudowoodo, and Hoothoot. You take Ledyba, Pineco, and Murkrow!" He realized his partner probably had a hand down. and tossed him a blast seed. "Here!" Now then... His partner was strong, he'd probably manage with that. He'd probably manage without, but with it will just make it more badass with one. And that is 110% needed, so there was literally no option other than to give Sova a blast seed. Obviously.

The Zigzagoon, Sudowoodo, and Hoothoot all charged at Leif, who teleported up as they all came crashing together. He began to spin horizontally, and when he came back down his iron tail sent them all reeling back. This was a bad position. He was surrounded again. Suddenly the zigzagoon scattered sand at Leif, blinding him. Sudowoodo charged at him, pinning him to the log. The hoothoot attempted to hypnotize him while he was stuck, but he blasted a shadow ball at the Sudowoodo. While this wasn't a very effective type, it sent the Sudowoodo flying, and it hit the Hoothoot. Zigzagoon charged, and Leif held out his Icy fist.

He held his fist out, and was pushed a ways, his arm hurting from the impact, but the cost was small as it began to freeze the Zigzagoon. Now the rock tree and the psychic owl. He teleported to avoid being hit by the Sudowoodo, and then fell from above Hoothoot. He launched a Shadow Ball, which he followed with an ice punch. The icy fist fell into the ball of ghostly energy, forming a chilling, soul hollowing energy. Two super effective attacks combined knocked the Hoothoot out with ease, which crashed into the frozen Zigzagoon. As he landed he was again charged by Sudowoodo, who he hit with hit iron tail like a bat mid-charge. This sent it flying into the other two pokemon Leif was fighting. He looked to see how Sova held out in his fight.

Assessing the situation certainly wasn't easy, there were quite a lot of Pokemon in the area....he recognized the Pineco and Murkrow from the earlier battle.  Perhaps the others were attracted by the sounds of the log breaking.  Or maybe they were just in the area.  Regardless, he had to fight.  He caught the blast seed in his mouth to be sure he could be ready to use it at any time.

A plan....what he needed was a plan.  But thinking of a plan would have to wait until he had time to think.  He detected the incoming attacks from the Ledyba and Murkrow, sidestepping to avoid them both.  But they both landed fine, unharmed.  He'd have to actually attack if he wanted to do much.  He stepped away from the two other enemies a bit before being hit in the side by a sharp pain.  Bug Bite from the Pineco.

He considered spinning to shake it off, but got a better idea.  He simply turned around, using the Pineco as a shield for the incoming Wing Attack from the Murkrow.  That seemed to be too much for it and it fainted.  Now he just had to deal with the other two.  He positioned himself between the Murkrow and Ledyba, avoiding their attacks and moving closer to a nearby large bush.  When he felt he was close enough, he detected the Ledyba's tackle avoiding it and letting the Murkrow crash into it and knock it into the bush.  Before he had time to avoid the Murkrow's next attack, he was hit in the face with one of its wings.  A hit from the other wing knocked him backwards.

Just as one of its wings came down for a third strike, Sova bit down on the wing, spun and released, throwing it into the bush, knocking the Ledyba back down just as it was getting up.  He bit down on the blast seed and opened his mouth, breathing out a fireball onto the bush, burning both of the two Pokemon.  They both hopped out of the bush shortly before fainting as he walked away from the scene with a badass expression, checking on his teammate.

Leif looked to Sova, and discerned that he seemed to be fine. Leif was glad to see that Sova had also made it through the fight safely... Was there ever a doubt in his mind? Maybe. But that doubt was most definitely weather the pokemon Sova was fighting would lose, or weather they would they would lose to a greater degree while avoiding a raging bush fire. This victory was wrapped up in a short enough time they could continue looking for the Mysterious Gummi. Or playing I Spy. And it seemed to be Leif's turn again. "I spy with my little eye..." he looked at the scene of destruction before him, "something that warms my heart." He said this with a bit of a devious grin.

Sova was glad to see his partner was alright and had completely forgotten about his own well being. He had also forgotten about I Spy for a moment. Something that warms his heart? Something warm? "Is it the fire?" He laughed at the thought of flaming bushes ACTUALLY making his partner happy.

He began walking along the path again as he awaited Leif's response, but stopped, feeling a pain on his forehead. He put a paw to his head for a moment then moved the paw down into his vision to see it had a big red stain on it. He must have gotten cut by the Murkrow in the fight. He couldn't tell, but the bleeding on the cut was a bit bad.

"Hahaha, well... I mean think of it technically. The heat transfers through my skin, warming my blood stream, raising my internal body temperature, and warming my heart. Burning bushes literally warm my heart." He knew that nobody would buy this recovery. But it let him keep his clever pun, and clever puns are all that mattered. Until pokemon start getting injured, then that starts being important. Luckily that will neve- Oh... WELL THEN.

Leif saw the blood coming from Sova's head. Bleeding on the head tended to be bad, and this seemed like no exception. "Stop." Leif commanded, his voice suddenly getting serious. He pulled off his Red ribbon from his wrist, and his special band. "We have to take care of the bleeding. At least as much as we can right now." He folded up the special band to serve as gauze and then tied it tightly around Sova's head with the red ribbon. "That seems to be doing a little bit. Do you think we should turn back? If you lost too much blood I don't want to risk your safety."
